hi . i was trying to connect my galaxy s throught 3.5 mm jack and connect it to a TV , and when i connect to my phone it realizes the cable and when i turn it on it doesn't show anything. i am using a CM10 stable. any ideas?
anybody ?? plz help indeed.
1) Is the cable working properly with the correct wiring? I had to use this guide to get my cable working with i9000: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrrLIh8zPWk
2) Did you check the TV-out checkbox in Galaxy S Settings with the correct format for your TV?
3) I'm not sure that TV-out even works in CM10 yet, but if you performed my other points it -should- work. (Atleast it does for me)

[FIXED] thanks guys
When I connect my Samsung Galaxy S, the computer doesn't do ANYTHING (it doesn't recognize that anything has been connected), and the SGS doesn't even recognize that it's connected to anything. All the phone does is charge...not even a notification drop down prompts me to enter USB mass storage or charge etc. I've factory reset the phone many times (plugged & unplugged), and nothing seems to fix it. I can't find my SGS in the Device manager to reinstall drivers either.
I am running Windows 7 64bit on a Sony Vaio, if that helps.
I've searched tons of sites & forums and none seems to have a working solution...Any ideas/fixes?
I think I found the problem I was having...I was using a Rocketfish CHARGING cable, and although it looks like a USB cable (it connects to the computer via usb), it does nothing but charge...so I took off the micro usb adapter that affixed onto the mini usb charging cable and re-affixed it onto a random mini usb cable I had lying around. And now it connects to the computer! I can now use all the other tutorials fixing the generic "usb driver not installed properly" problem.
UPDATE: I was following the tutorial on http://theunlockr.com/2009/12/02/how-to-root-the-samsung-behold-2-samsung-galaxy/ but when I get to the fastboot part, my phone won't boot into fastboot.... Can anyone help?
download 64-bit drivers here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=728929
turn on usb-debugging mode in settings. you have to manually choose to mount the volume on the SGS every time you plug it in.
should work.
you need to either install KIES, or install the drivers included in the Android SDK

I got my phone to connect & be recognized by my computer, but I can't seem to get my phone into fastboot. Can anyone tell me which keys to press...?
I had the exact same problem. Googled and found a forum post somewhere with the following solution:
Turn off Galaxy S. Connect to pc by USB. Turn on Galaxy S.
...
Yeah.
Worked for me, anyway. Ever since I did that it's been working fine even if I connect it while it's turned on.
EDIT: Gah, didn't notice you had it solved already, thought the second post was from someone else. Oh well.

didn't work
Use the cable that came with your phone. I had issues with a second cable I bought for my second pc. Changed the cable back and everything was fine.

Samsung Galaxy S EPIC not recognized by win 7 computers
Pls install Android SDK .It may require you to install java jdk .Then install the samsung drivers for 64 bit install 64 bit drivers ......32 bit won't work. & use the genuine samsung cable. No need of powered hubs or desktops instead of laptops. It will work. Thanks

Hi,
My Galaxy S reboot when I plug the TV cable in the jack (the nokia's cable) while TV out is activated.
Any idea to correct this?
(right now I don't use OC/UV)
my config:
Kernel: Super Optimized Kernel 4_7_4 STABLE
ROM: XXJPX_Doc_V5.1 (could be the matter)
You say its a Nokia cable on a Samsung phone .
Compatible ???
thats what i would check first .
jje
I checked it on an other thread, the cable is compatible. It should work as it does for other. I guess this is related to my old ROM, maybe I should update it.
thx for replying
Hi there. Im just wondering and looking for possible reasons/solutions as to why my Galaxy Tab S doesn't read or recognise my Go Pro Camera when I connect it via a USB OTG cable.
It's confusing because using the same cable, my Galaxy S5 recognises and reads my Go Pro but the Tab doesn't??

The device kernel probably needs to be patched for it (could be wrong as I don't have a Go Pro to test). If you find any kernel patch/information on this, I might be able to help. But that would require you to flash a custom kernel and rooting device etc.
that doesn't make any sense because why does it work when I connect it up to my phone then??
same kernel, same OS.

As apossibility, makes perfect sense to me
No. Not same kernel. Different firmware drivers and hardware.
Hi,
I tried to flash the recent CM11 and found the OTG not working. In fact the note said so clearly.
I'm wondering if there's a ROM (better 4.4.4) have the OTG works.
Thanks.

Use this topic.
The emmc install versions of CM11 do have working OTG.

It works on evey cm 11 rom. You just need to download stickmount app fromplaystore.
I'm on CM11 for HD+. Even with the stickmount app, the USB device cannot be cogonized.
Please note that I'm on 9" HD+, not 7" HD. There's no Female microUSB. So I have to put a Female to Female convertor to the end of the HD+ cable.
But it still not working, no matter with or without the app.
Is it because of the convertor? Do I need a special one?
Please advice. Thanks.

Mine worked in the same way as in this video by @verygreen . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SdWRioI9PL4&index=16&list=WL
Can you advice exactly what's the "Female to Female USB Adapter" you are using?
Is it the yellow color one exactly showing in the video? I tried find it but cannot. I bought another one from Ebay but it doesn't work.
I doubt I didn't get right one.
Please advice what's the one you are using, better with link.
Thanks.

In addition to a variant of CM11 that supports OTG (verygreen's version does), you will probably need the "USBHost Switcher" app: I don't remember where it is; you will have to search for it on this forum, download it to your PC, and then manually sideload (install) it. That will allow you to manually switch the USB port to "USB host mode" for OTG to work. Note that once you switch to USB host mode, you cannot charge the Nook until you switch back (or reboot).
You may also want to find "USB Host Diagnostics" (on Google Play) that may assist you in determining the state of your Nook on this issue.
Your USB female-to-female adapter is probably just fine.
Yeah. You'll need USBHost Switcher. Also, some USB are incompatible. I have an USB stick that doesn't work with nook but others do.

The link to Verygreen's USB Host Switcher apk can be found at his CM10.1 thread's OP http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41024398&postcount=1, and it is: http://nook.rootshell.ru/hd/USBHostSwitcher.apk.
You do not need that particular USBHostSwitcher. There's an alternative: TPUSBUMount.
TPUSBUMount6.apk (from this topic) has three functions:
Enable/disable OTG (USB host mode)
Fix "insufficient power" error - many USB clients request more power than the Nook is willing to provide by default.
Mount USB storage devices that are ext3 formatted instead of NTFS or FAT (probably not relevant for most users).
TPUSBUMount v6 works great on CM11. On CM 10.2 or older, it might fail to recognize and corrent the insufficient power condition. In that case, using TPUSBUMount v1 should work.
Hello,
i can't get the otg connections to work.
root is essential to use it or can you unlock it even without it?

My OTG works without problems and without root. Flash drives, mouses, keyboards ... everything works
then why doesn't it work for me?:crying:
maybe some options should be activated?
Tried audio DAC and USB stick, seems fine
Try this:
Settings/about phone/all specs/click on kernel version 4times ( entering the 'CIT" )
Now you can Test OTG modus and more stuff
tried ... it doesn't work. I make one last attempt by changing adapter

You should change your adaptor and change your pen drive. I think this is the problem. After changing dose if the result is same then you you have to contact with service centre because of faulty OTG connection
Ok, that was the bad adapter. but even the new sometimes goes, and sometimes it doesn't. ?
