I have found the stable version....

I am presently running:
AT&T Samsung Captivate SGH-1897 Rooted
Android V/ 4.0.4
Baseband V/ I9000UGKG3
Kernel V 3.0.8-g2311908/[email protected] #1
Cyanogenmod V/9-20120819-nightly-captivatemid
I want to put on the Devil3 kernel and CM10. I have downloaded these files
cm-10-20121118-NIGHTLY-captivatemtd.zip
kernel_V10_4_2_15.zip
are these the correct files to use to go to jean bean?
The instruction I found said:
coming from any other rom:
- make sure to have gingerbread bootloaders
- flash allinone.zip
- reboot recovery
- flash allinone.zip again
- flash gapps
How can I find out if I have gingerbread bootloaders?
Thanks for any help you give you.

If you're on CM9 then you already have the GB bootloaders.
Also, I'm not so sure about the file names but a nightly version isn't what you would call a stable version, it's for testing purpose. I would suggest getting a daily version of it (if there is of course).
Thank you for your response. I have not been able to find CM10 download link anywhere except for the nightly's on their site. Do you know where I can get a more stable version or another one that will be stable?

I looked over on the CM10 thread and you're right, there's only nightlies atm. Like I said, it's mainly for test purpose, it is most likely fine to run but expect some bugs here and there. If you wish for a stable build, stay on CM9 but if you feel a bit more adventurous and a couple bugs don't scare you then go ahead and flash the build you linked in the OP.

what i would do in your case is go to the develpoment section and either flash a v20L official gingerbread update (kdz file, you will find an explanation thread how to flash it in there) or download an official froyo rom from original firmware section.
as far as i know you cant flash roms from PC, only basebands/ official updates and so. you need to flash roms through clockworkmod recovery.
concerning CM7 i use nightly builds. they are constantly updated with new stuff/ fixes etc, so its the very latest version of the rom. experimental mod is something you should not care about . and a stable build is basically a nightly that has been picked as a stable build.
cheers

Yes i want to update to ICS. I have previously tried but ended in bootloop.
My current configuration is.
Firmware: 2.3.5
Baseband 19000XXJVT
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-19000XXJVT-CL617736
[email protected] #Semaphore_1.9.1bm
Can i just go into CWM and install
It depends which ICS Rom you want to use, theres Team Hacksung's ICS Port or One Cosmic's, imo TeamHacksungs one is the better choice, its easier to flash and to me, its slightly faster and more things in the Rom are working, if you want to flash team HackSung's one then just create a backup and flash over your current Rom if you want to use One Cosmics port, then you need to flash it over a Cyanogen Mod base Rom, simply flash a CM7 Rom, factory wipe, then flash the ICS Rom over it
(Be sure to hit the thanks button below the message if i helped)

Because some roms are left hanging in the beginning and not booting, my phone is a Huawei U9000 X6, I tested several of the forum but none work properly, now I have Android v2.3.7 and want to do the upgrade to 4.0.
In advance thank you very much.

You gotta remember this ;-
You need kernel 2.6.35.7 for all ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) Roms
You need kernel 2.6.32.9 for most GB (Ginger Bread) Roms
Android RC3 runs on 2.6.35.7
I think you should flash RC3 via SUT. Flashing RC3 gives you a stable OS and automatically gives you Clockworkmod so you can boot into recovery and flash any ics rom directly after this or any 2.6.35.7 based GB Rom
For some reason though, on neither kernels, this -http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619837 boots for me.
The indicator of wrong kernel is Blue screen on bootup

Flashing RC3 automatically gives you the ics kernel.
You can also use CK Kernel 0.4d in dev threads and flash via cwm but it will not work with your current rom

Yes. That should do the trick.
As an alternative, you can still flash GB stock from your manufacturer (most likely .32 kernel).

Nope. Throw Cyanogenmod on that baby.
GB: CM7
ICS: SlimICS
JB: CM10.1.3
4.2.2 performance wise is the same as 4.1, but you get access to Google Now and a few more tidbits here and there (like the new Clock app)

Thanks for the reply, knew if I was patient someone would chime in.
I poorly worded my question.......I really should have instead asked if I can flash the i897 like any other Captivate? Same root process, etc?

Pretty much. With Samsung device, you don't even have to root it.
1. Get Odin/Heimdall
2. Flash a kernel with CWM
3. Flash Cyanogenmod 7
4. Flash whatever rom you want.

No need to flash CM7. Easy to follow update guide here -> Guide.
I recommend CM10.1.3 Stable as first custom ROM, Android 4.2.2 based.

I find that some kernel don't play well with the Cyanogenmod 9/10/Any other ICS JB roms, especially if they're kernel for AOSP, and the whole BML to MTD process gets a little iffy(it never boots, just constantly reboot to recovery, partitions can't be formatted, mounted partition are always empty). If you're starting from a Samsung ROM's kernel, it goes OK most of the time, but if you start from Semaphore JB or GearKernel or another AOSP kernel, the installation process just skipped the BML to MTD conversion, or screw it up somehow. It may just be me, but doing one extra step can't hurt
The phone in question runs stock ROM. First needs to be updated to GB 2.3.x, than Corn Kernel + CM10.1 Stable will update it to JB 4.2.2. No need to flash another GB-based ROM after the stock GB. CM10.1 Stable installation process has no issues with Corn Kernel. Tested many times.

I would appreciate knowing if someone has installed Android 4.0.3 ICS on a Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000, and I would like to get their opinion on Android 4.0.3 ICS for the Galaxy S GT-i9000 ?
Does the Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000 have enough RAM for Android 4.0.3 ICS?
Thank You
Hello
I think yes, but a really long time ago. Now the Galaxy S works pretty well with Android Kitkat. Take a look at Slim Roms and CyanogenMod roms
I use Slimkat and it works really well.

Yes - unofficial roms tend to come with JVU bundled in by default. Even if they don't this can be easily changed using flashable modem files in the development section

You don't have to install Gapps but without them you won't be able to use the Play Store to download apps.
Of course, if you don't need Play Store either then you can juse use a rom without any gapps and sideload any apps you need.
In case you do want Play store but don't want any other apps, I'd say this Gapps package is worth a look
