Nexus 7 with external webcam - Nexus 7 Accessories

Hello researcher,
Any one tried Nexus 7 with external camera with the help of OTG cable? or is there any way to achieve it?
Murali

Welcome to the forum, murali.trichy.
I'd be interested in knowing the answer to your question too.

I've been curious about this as well. It was done quite a while ago on the Nexus S but required a specific firmware mod and some command line work to get the drivers to properly recognize the camera.

NS homemade dock

hello!
I'm going to use my car stereo as an indoor one to hook it up via either BT or 3.5mm jack to my NS, but I don't want to spend on a Samsung dock yet, but I'd rather do some DIY... also, official dock doesn't have audio connector :/
So, is there a way to automatic set dock mode using the USB cable?
I remember something about using resistances in the plug, but couldn't find the thread :/
Any help appreciated

[Q] OTG while Charging GCam

Hey guys, any idea if this will work? Saw some otg with power from ebay. Read in nexus 7 forum that they were able to do it, was hoping it will also work with our device, but i think they used a custom kernel to be able to work, does stock samsung kernel supports this?
Im planning to makr my GCam a mini pc

Sad to say it didnt work for me, i think we need to compile the kernel to enable it and make our own cable by adding 40.2k ohm resistors on ID pin

Smart Dock...

Worth every penny. Got 35% off, even though I would have paid full price for it. Anyone else has it?

Have it, love it. Just installed XBMC on my Note 2 and its so good
The concept to me is really cool. If I didn't already have a laptop it would fill my needs for a computer. Still pricey though...

I don't have one but am very interested in one. Where did you get yours for 35% off?
I have it. Sometimes the hdmi doesn't work. I have to take off and put back on. Otherwise its great. Not $100 worth so im glad I didn't pay full price, but very handy at work and home.
What does this dock do differently? I got a cheap dock on Amazon that works great for me.

I just purchased a

Rewired it inside for data instead of sound (only way to do it as the data pins are used for sound in this model). Works beautifully.

It works just like plugging in a standard Micro usb cable into your phone. Option-wise that is.
Thanks for posting the links I might purchase one of these
The op posted about the smart dock. The thread is called smart dock. He said he got 35% off, and still hasn't told anyone how. People keep posting about chargers for some reason? The smart dock gives you the ability to use the full functionality of the mhl http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_High-Definition_Link#section_5
It's not a charger.

Easy there tiger.
A) This thread is a month old now
B) Have you ever seen a thread stay on topic?
C) >1% of the users of this phone really care about hdmi out. Just no real purpose other than the "oh that's cool factor"
The post I made gives it more than just a "charger" feature set. Which more than likely can be done with the holier-than-thou Smart Dock as well but you'd have to give up the audio port for it to work.

Uses for 1 NFC tag

Hello,
I have 3 NFC tags, 1 I use near my front door to turn on and off WiFi and the other one on my bedside table to turn on alarm clock.
I have 1 more, and I can't find any uses for it.
I've been searching the internet for good ideas and I didn't find a useful one. Can you help me?

I put one on the satnav holder in my car. I attach the phone to it and it opens up car mode
i put the other just near the door and that starts the laptop up by sending a magic packet via wifi

Enable magic packet/wake on lan (WOL) on your computer
Find an app that can send these magic packets to your sleeping computer
Computer is awakened.
I think it works on ethernet LAN too...not sure on that, though.

NFC is super slow. So far, Android Beam can only send LINKS, like Youtube, Drive, Play store, etc and small files like contacts.
S beam uses NFC to trigger Wifi direct. But that's only Samsung to samsung.
Unless I'm wrong. In which case please show me the light. I know of no effective way to transfer files from android to android.
Use the app SuperBeam for nfc and qr code wifi direct file transfers.

As of jellybean nfc initiates Bluetooth to transfer larger files but things like links and other small files like u meantioned use android beam.
As gk said I'd also recommend superbeam I've used it to transfer with a nexus 7 and works like a charm it resembles s-beam in a way as it uses WiFi direct
