Ok, first, I looked around and tried stuff like battery calibration etc. but no luck, here's what happened:
I got my galaxy ace and rooted it with CF-ROOT, flashed it using the recovery menu that stock already had.
Phone was ok for 1 week, then it started sucking battery like crazy (also charges too fast), 100% lasts something like 5mins...
(at this point it was still stock with rooted kernel)
Flashed a CM ICS ROM from the forum => same results with battery
Went back to stock, no root anymore => battery still the same
Does anyone know how to solve this? Thanks in advance!

Why didn't you use the normal .zip that just adds super user? Maybe we have the same type of Ace that is completely incompatible with flashed kernels. Brings battery problems. Only kernels you can use are the ones that come with the rom you installed.
Reflash stock rom and root using any other .zip around the forums.
Because you said you charge it too fast. Try to charge it for 3 hrs. If u see 100 % that doesn't mean that it is fully charged already

Do this, full use your battery till it totally gets dry and charge it to 100% without break..note that your phone should switch off conditon while charging to 100%..

Is your battery swelled? I mean, is it bulging outside when you place the battery inside the phone?
If yes, then you need to get a new phone

What do you mean by normal zip? As I said, I flashed stock back, no more rooted kernel, but it's still draining battery, shouldn't it have gone back to normal with stock? Should I root again with this normal zip to be able to solve the problem?
Maybe your battery is "gone" (I mean cannot charge anymore). If you can try your phone with another battery borrowed from a friend or buy a new one cheap to be sure the problem is the battery and not the phone. The last option for me is to buy a new original battery a give a try. If you have a method to test the battery out of the phone is best. Good luck

Do 1 thing. Recharge for a long time till 100% . Choose a stock based rom like sgs2 v10. Do full wipes, delete battery stats.bin, Format data, cache, system, sd-ext ( if any ) & flash rom. Reboot & try battery. If it's still the same, go get a new battery..

hey, try this app called nova battery tester. It will tell you a lot about your battery's condition.
You can find it on the play store.
Also check whether your phone is entering deep sleep.

I tried that, the friend's battery on my phone had the same behaviour, and my battery on friend's phone worked fine... so it can't be the battery
Why the hell it won't just work normal if I flashed stock back?

Tried recharging for long time, no luck, also tried many "battery calibration" apps also with no result.
I'm guessing buying a new battery won't solve anything either given the results with the friend's battery
Have you checked your CPU behavior ? Which states it is in, etc
Use CPU spy to find out

1. Un-root then root again using the normal method which just adds SU.
2. Try charging for 2-3 hours. Sometimes it displays 100% though the battery level might be as low as 15%
3. Do you do over-night charging/ charge for very long durations/ play lots of games during charging? In that case your battery is over-charged. Check it. It should be puffed up a bit. If this is the case then, sorry mate, but you'll just have to get a new battery. And don't ignore this problem. Trust me, as bad as it is, it's all downhill from here.

Hi, I recently installed MIUI 3 and seem to be getting some problems with battery life.
What I've done so far:-
-Installed MIUI 3 with the SpeedMod kernal (as directed in the manual). Battery life dropped to 12hrs
-Reset battery stats, no change
-Installed MIUI 3.3. Battery went back up to ~30hrs
I thought 3.3 fixed it but after a day the battery life dropped by half. After another day it dropped by half again. Now it's only lasting 6hrs, and when on charge it doesn't reach 100% charged but stays at 98% even overnight.
What is going on with this thing?
Half of MIUI threads is about battery drain. There is no solution until now.

They're all like 1 year old. The battery was supposedly fixed in the latest release, and I know someone with the same phone, using MIUI, and they don't have this problem.
I think it might be something to do with the speedmod kernel. I don't know anything about the compatibility of kernels and MIUI so i just followed the instructions in the manual and used speedmod
I don't really know what's going on... in my phone the battery lasts for around 60 hours, maybe more, whatever rom/kernel I've used...
I've been using all of galnet's muiu and still have to find a battery issue. In my particular case, I don't use GPS, so it's off all the time. I don't think that's the issue though...
It's a known issue of CM7/MIUI.
no solution at the moment
Sorry but what is CM7?
And if there's no solution, how can someone with the same model phone not have the same issue?...
MIUI has battery problem and its not solved. If you disable data, gps, sync...
it saves some.
I will look into that and try to help!

I think that this is as much a cm7 thing, as anything else, and most people just tweak and seek til they find a combination of things that work, so worth looking in rhe relevant threads and reading back

Well for anyone interested I found the problem. I tried flashing with the latest SpeedMod kernel, phone wouldn't boot, and I had to reflash the entire bootloader with MIUI's modified Froyo
Now the problem I noticed when I went to install MIUI.. the zip on my phone was 2.2 instead of 3.2.
NFI how I ended up with that outdated version! So the latest 3.3 seems to have fixed it now. Phone has been on for almost 20 hours and only dropped 30% in battery. That's more like it.
Although this did happen the first time, it seemed OK and then kept dropping by half capacity each day.. But if I really was somehow using 2.2 then hopefully that's all it was
I found out yesterday that my phone doesnt really go idle because of some google process waking my phone notoriously, and probably thats why it uses more battery. I also have very week signal (only 3g) which makes my phone use more battery than normal, but on non cm7 roms i made it one day with no problem. Right now I'm on galnet's miui and this is really fantastic rom, but battery wont last one day in my case. So the idle problem is the case i think... yesterday I closed gapps process before i went to sleep, and my phone was sleeping nicely too This process is caused by android market, and miui doesnt close it up. I also freezed gmaps - someone in galnets thread said it also drains battery. Well I'll see in few days how the battery will behave.

Also Battery Calibration.apk (can be found in market) works to calibrate your battery properly.
56hrs without recharging, 22% battery still remaining. So clearly it's not a problem with CM or MIUI any more
I have exactly the same problem.. tried the battery callibration app..also tried the wipe battery stats article.. i ve finished recharging 100% 2hours ago... now my phone is 55%..no gps no games.. 2 phone calls for 2min each.. i love the rom and hate the battery

HOW??????????????????
hi all..
2 weeks ago I finally bought my very first android based HH, GNOTE...currently I'm running on ICS LPF Taiwan unroot, and very love it. one of my concern on this ICS, is the battery drain so much, considering it just sit on my pocket.
i have CPU Spy and BBS Installed, and found that it just Deep Sleep 48% and 200MHz 37 %. Kernel Wakelock is "multipdp" 25% Power Manager Services 21,2% and secril_fd-interface 19.25.
could you please tell me what causing this battery drain so much..?
The best thing that you could do is do a Factory Reset, but with all the bricking problems it's highly discouraged. I don't recognise the processes, but you should make sure that you deleted all the apps you never use, since one of then could be causing the problems you have.

After upgrading to German ICS, also had problems with wakelocks (phone never sleeped)
Done this (posted on XDA somewhere) and it worked:
Turn Flight Mode ON
Turn Off the Phone
Take out the battery for 30 secs
Plug battery back
Turn on the phone
Wait until all is loaded and turn off Flight Mode.
Also, always disconnect from the charger with screen ON and unlocked.
After using this 2 metods, never had a wakelock again (multipdp etc)

thanks a lot for both of you....
will try these steps.....and will comeback with the result....

thanks for your answer for my question...
regarding that did you mean that i have to stop receiving email on my Galaxy Note..?? for me that's really important since i bought my note to support my daily job...
is it the main cause..? if yes, i think i should buy another battery as a way out.
I also have encountered the same problem with my galaxy note after the stock ics update in India.
I have checked out the earlier posts on the same issue..
Some users had the problems of deep sleep and some others had other problems..bt as far i have been able to understand this problem...it is associated with those apps which we often use..for eg i had been using apex launcher for so long...and it used to suck my phones battery like hell also coz of the widgets and the other things that it use.
So what i did was a simple factory reset and a data wipe and didn't install the apex launcher again.
I let my phones battery drain completely and charged it till 100% and simply rebooted it and removed the battery too. And its working good now.
Those things which suckedy battery included android system and display...i could do any thing about display but i force stopped may process of android system and results are good.
One more reason for battery drain could be that when we go backs from the apps on stock ics on galaxy note..the apps do not get closed comletely like stock web browser which works in the background too..so might be other reason for so.
Don not install those apps which u dont use often coz they might work in background add unnecessorily suck ur bettery.
Try the battery pull off trick it really works for majority of users.
Force close those apps and processes which u feel unnecessory.
Those whose claim ics doesnt work smooth on their note they pls go the develpers option in settings and enable the force GPU rendering option then it will work smooth like anything...
One more thing which u may already know about galaxy note ics is that now it runs all the tablet apps on ur note! Thats pretty amazing coz u need not root it or do anything...for me it worked with the apps like...adobe idea, adobe photoshop touch and all other adobe apps and some other tablet apps..download these apps directly from 4shared..so cheers!!!
Those who are not happy with their battery pls try factory reset and battery pull off trick...it worked for me and it might work for u too my friend...
if you are entering deep sleep at all then you aren't being affected by the bug where you have to make sure your screen is on and unlocked before pulling it off the charger.
i suffered from this bug after updating to ics lpy, but since following the guide above (flight mode, power down etc.) i've had no issues.
let your phone completely discharge, then turn it back ona dn make sure it turns off again. then fully charge it. i found this increased the accuracy of the battery a little, when i did it it dropped from 10% to 1% in around 20 mins, then i was able to use the phone for almost half an hour on 1% so obviously my battery stats weren't quite right.
if you've done a factory reset, and you're sure the phone is entering deep sleep ok, just go through a couple of complete charge/discharge cycles and see if that improves things

Analyzing is tought on android.
Printscreens of kernel wakelock and partial are better.
Partial is mostly what exactly is keeping awake

i still got this issue regarding multipdp and secril_fd_interface....maybe it caused by unstable network or the fast dormancy stuff...
so i went to nearest samsung center and buy a spare battery... now i have no concern about this...but still keep on eye with l2_hsic...the flight mode on and restart will solve this issue..

I was having battery drain issues myself. Got tired of checking CPU Spy and BBS etc. Worried about bricking and wiping so I...
I rooted the phone.
Installed SpeedMod Kernel 3-3 via mobile odin that didnt really solve it.
I installed Abyss kernel. Wiped everything because its supposed to be a safe wipe kernel.
Then installed Criskelo rom
Then installed SpeedMod Kernel 3-3 again and everything was great with battery life.
You have to reinstall apps and setup your phone basically but its well worth it in my opinion. Now my only battery drain is me always messing with my phone.

@gayanaji - I use Criskelo's ROM and all the Samsung apps work fine. No probs here. Many of the custom ROMS are based on other Kernels that the Samsung apps do not work with. I am a bit new to this but I believe that is correct. Just make sure to use a Samsung app compatible Kernel if you decide to do it. Also another piece of advice before doing anything read a bunch to make sure you fully understand everything with regards to rooting, flashing custom ROMS etc.
So, I have the SweetRom V5 and my battery goes down really fast. Like 1% every minute. But thats not my main problem. When i get to about75 - 50% of my battery level. My screen fuzzes with some wierd lines all over the screen. They are white and look like electricity bolts or something like that.
They go all over the screen and my phone turns off instantly. I reboot and it sais i have less than 10% battery left when i had 70% a minute ago.
I usuallylock the screen when they appear and wait a couple of seconds and they are gone. But then they come back again. Ive tried calibrating my battery with apps and myself but it doesnt work
Anyone have suggestions?
First check for apps that are draining the battery. It could be because the phone is not doing sleep so the battery is draining even when screen off
Also try a different battery.

A month or so back I started facing weird problems with my year old Galaxy Note, n7000:
1. After reboot, the battery would go down by 15-20% and then without charging the battery %age would gradually increase by 5-10%
2. lots of flickering on screen followed by auto shutdown whenever the battery %age went below 15-20% after normal usage
3. Very poor battery backup (I blamed most of this to the Rom Mods I had been installing at that time- only partially correct!)
I am sure that many of you might have been facing such problems and running from forum to forum to get a solution- I did.
Solution:
Get your battery replaced- most of us have had our Note for a year and some months now...life of the battery is approx 1 year for regular use, thus, the stock battery that we got with our Note is well past....
I never faced the above problems after battery replacement!
Hope this helps others like me!!

I got rid of the damn problem after getting new ones...Is it possible that the batteries you bought are not genuine/fake?
Which ROM are you on- the Stock one or some mod-rom?
When I was searching for a solution to my battery issues some members suggested battery-calibration and full charge-full discharge cycle to get rid of the problem. Both the solutions suggested at that time did not work for me.
There was also a solution about cleaning the mini-USB connector which gets seriously dirty collecting grime from our pant pockets! That did work for me initially when the battery was good.
Please let me know if any of the above helps you.

Guys - Me too have the same issue, but this started immediate after updating the Jelly Bean 4.1.2. It never happened while on official ICS.
I could observe the battery is very much thick now, which is a symptom of over charging. The screen flickers and brings phone down abnormally.
After connecting the charger for a 5 seconds, suddenly the battery level shoots to original state from where it went down. Most frustrating, it happens very frequently.
I am not sure if the same will persist even after replacing with a new battery. Or I would need to go back to ICS again.
Any suggestions?
Cheers!
If the battery is bloated then it's better to get a new one.
Erm... is this thread still up?
I just wanted to know if the bloated battery would cause boot issues, stuck on the model screen?
I would guess the problem is with the bloated battery's voltage is insufficient to power up the systems... i guess

4.1.2 xxlsz deodexed by eybee
The problem is, after I restored most of my data, apps and system data separately, the screen flickers a little bit and then the restore process completed without any problem. After that I restart the phone, stuck at the model screen only for unknown reason. The data is also from previous xxlsz which I had trouble with some system app crashed but fixed by returning to another backup though.
So, currently I'm leaving the phone without any data restored, only stock fresh out of the box xxlsz with titanium backup only installed. So far the phone is quite stable, I've turned off the adaptive power adjustment in display as well as lowest brightness just in cast it might occur again.
I've been reflashing xxlsz a lot this morning, over 3-5 times due to stuck in boot logo and model screen. Even though flashed the latest philz 4.90.8, it would just revert back to the old philz 4.8x with cwm 6.0.2.8
One last thing, my batter bloated pretty bad about half of it has been expanded. I mean from the bottom part (no copper connections), half of it has reached out of the body.
Well,
hppend to me b4, flickering issue below 10%. It was bloated. Bought new one. Bloated again after 6months. Again, bought a new one and it can last only 7 hrs without switch on data.
This is what we get from massive production company.

By battery backup I mean the time my battery survives after a full charge is like only 2hrs with minimal use :/

Maybe you bought a "bad" battery...
Ok, successfully restored to another checkpoint, now trying to extract a stock build.prop from stock xxlsz, eybee's build.prop I believe been making my phone goes hot and consumes more power than normal (I guess)
damn issue as well

Guys - Me too have the same issue, but this started immediate after updating the Jelly Bean 4.1.2. It never happened while on official ICS.
I could observe the battery is very much thick now, which is a symptom of over charging. The screen flickers and brings phone down abnormally.
After connecting the charger for a 5 seconds, suddenly the battery level shoots to original state from where it went down. Most frustrating, it happens very frequently.
I am not sure if the same will persist even after replacing with a new battery. Or I would need to go back to ICS again.
Any suggestions?
Cheers!

I seem to have the same issue
1. Battery drains rather bad
2. Screen flickering
3. Auto shutdowm
Used the battery in my wifes n7000 , however no issues at all
Only seem to happen on my phone.
I flashed it to stock std 4.1.2 , however problem still persist. auto shutdown few times a day
Gets worse when i use an external SD
@amogh you can check your battery voltages and battery temperature and compare that to optimum values. you can also use apps like AnTuTu battery tester.

Flashing another rom again wont solve much of the problem, if you happens to have the phone stuck in around bootloop and able to go into cwm, brace yourself, this process can get very repetitive to solve because a mere battery able to do such a problem. I had these experience before about 2 months ago before buying a new battery. Hope this link helps you understand a bit more of the battery

Thanks mate will go thru it and see if the battery is the cause. Point to note was it did not happen when i was using ICS. It started immediately with the JB update

Just flash the stock firmware and kernel, and see if it solves the problem. If not then you have a dead battery on your hands.
I also have the same problem, it also seems to happen at 30 percent. I'm pretty sure we need to change our battery

Well its the easiest way to see if it is rom/kernel related or if something is wrong with the hardware.

ok thank you. just one more question just to be safe, should i just download the firmware from sammobile and flash via odin in download mode right?
and another fellow here advised me to calibrate my battery to check if its hardware or software. he told me to charge to 100% and delete this file data/ system / and delete BatteryStats.bin use to 0% and then charge 100%. should i do it before going stock or not?
had the same issue a few days back (f2 stock rom and kernel), battery dropped from 17% to 0 within a few seconds.
but this occured only once, the next cycle was ok, so i guess it was a calibration issue!

Easiest to try battery calibration first. If that doesn't work after a couple of cycles then just flash the stock rom from Sammobile using Odin.

ok thank you guys, i guess i just have a ****ty life and very very ****ty luck happens to every phone tablet i buy. FML
There are 3 possible reasons this happens - broken phone, broken battery or software problem.
I think the first one is unlikely so you need to figure out which of the last 2 is.
Make a back up of your current rom and install an official TW software. If this still doesnt fix your problem, its most likely the battery. A new genuine battery is around 20$.
PS - i think that the battery stats bin file is automatically deleted once you fully charge the battery anyway but you can still try it altough i doubt it will fix it.

same problem here
And here.
This is typical of a dead battery. Your best bet is to buy a new one.
Less than a year is short but not unheard of. Overheating (especially when 100% full), deep discharge, very intensive use (especially with quick charging) and manufacturing defects all can kill a battery.
I'm on CM12.1 with this problem. I've tried battery calibration and tried a new battery but its still apparent.
Will be trying a factory reset as my last resort.
This is happening to 2 phones in my household it started after the upgrade to 5.0.1 one note is Tmobile the other sprint....highly doubt we both developed battery problems RIGHT after we both ota upgraded.
Same here at ~13%.
I do always either fast charge or QI charge.
So far I've tried:
- Battery calibration
- Bought new battery
- Factory reset
Still happens!!
Maybe I'll try TW flash or modem change
Weird, I have this exact same problem as the original post. I'm running BOC5 on the 9105. It's a sporadic problem only occurring on occasion

I've been running Lollipop for ages until this problem happened. Frankly, I still prefer Lollipop with this problem.
