Boot to Gecko a possibility? - LG Revolution

I would like to know if anyone thinks this is a possibility? I don't see much standing in the way of getting non-phone components working. Its based on linux, so the drivers should be there. Does anyone know if android drivers can be compiled into a regular kernel seamlessly?

Debian on Android - questions

Can I access the GPS receiver via a com port directly from the Debian shell?
How about the bluetooth stack/ USB port, and other radio functions?
Is anyone in here running background jobs in Debian on android? If so, have you noticed any significant impact on device performance or battery life?
Does anyone know if it might at some stage be possible to run X11 directly, that is not via VNC? I really don't see the point of a VNC based solution, as it is unable to achieve any decent graphics performance. I would love to run mplayer on the G1
If I understand correctly, Debian and Android are making calls the the same kernel, so I imagine it would be hard to share access to the graphics hardware.
Thanks!
htc g1 boot debian kernel zImage
Hello dear!
I managed to have working debian + ssh, on my g1, but i am stuck on kernel zimage loading. Based on this tutoriel by Galoula: novaspirit.com/blog/?p=6 which has some broken links at the end. So i cannot boot without fastboot over USB. My intention is to load kernel within telephone/terminal emulator/.apk/recovery/hboot...?? whatever and maybe you can give me direction what to follow. I dont have special intention its just geek fun.
Thank you.

[Q] XP won't connect to my G1.

Just got a G1 off of evilbay.
When I connect it to the PC with the usb lead XP says 'device not recognised'.
Any idea whats going wrong and how to fix it?
which winxp version are you using? i never managed to connect my g1 to xp64...
you might need to manually install the usb drivers which come with the android sdk
XP32, SP3.
Got a link for the drivers?
That's a GOOD thing.... protect a good phone from a HORRIBLE virus.
Try linux. No weird drivers needed and no risk of damage.
Can't go on to linux full time, it doesn't support the games I play.
And the XP emulators are not a solution either, unless they have finally started to support 3D graphics?
If that is the only solution maybe I should have gone for a blackberry after all.
Will it work with the Ubuntu live CD?
Or the run from USB drive under XP version?
Make sure you have a good, thick USB cable. My G1 doesn't want to work with the first two USB cables I tried.
That was the first thing I thought of
Tried all 7 of mine, all react the same.
Also tried the project machine, initially found it, then after about 10 seconds came up with the unrecognised device
Are you trying to mount the SD card or use adb/fastboot?
Am trying to get to the SD card.
Found my microSD card reader so can copy stuff over that way now.
Would be nice to connect properly tho.
It's away for a week now, being fixed and rooted
It is my humble opinion that my local phone guy is a genius (and well into android).

Click to collapse
Livecd is fine.
Dualboot is better.
Clear the virus is best.
Games? Games are for kids. Hacking is more fun.
Excuse the retards, they run rampant around these parts
Find attached all the drivers you will need, any further help just ask me
And here is a link to get the sdk if you want it...

[Q] WebOS for HP Touchpad

Anyone know anything about the current open source WebOS and how I would install it to my touchpad?
You can't.
what i know is it is broken and limited in features compared to the one on touchpad. oh and also wont work on the touchpad, b/c hp stripped out backward compatibility on the open source version. for more info see this forum http://forums.webosnation.com/webos-open-source-project/

Archlinux with LibHybris

I made this about... 2 years ago. I never shared it with anyone. As I recall, it runs Gnome with X11 or with Wayland utilizing android graphic drivers. If you run Wayland and want to use X11 it then uses XWayland. XWayland works, except for it only works with the first mouse click. I basically took as much sailfish stuff as I could and made it run on ArchLinux, this was with pulseaudio, and bluetooth I think, except I never did get hardware accelerated codecs to work (GST Droid). I also played with Hawaii.. http://hawaiios.org/download/distros/ Which is included, although it never ran that well. And weston is also an option to use with this, you can see this with the LightDM login screen. Remember this is 2 years old. If you upgrade pulse audio or anything else it might break everything because of the kernel and systemd and god knows what else.
Also, I don't currently have a touchpad to play with. If I recall this zip file has a kernel and a rootfs.tar.gz inside, and.. I am not sure what partition you stick it in, probably /dev/store/ubuntu... So.... Maybe when I get a touchpad, I can figure it out, or play with this again.

Use dual graphics on Linux / Windows

Hello all!
So I've been using Mac for the last years and really enjoying it, but now wanted to use Linux (more specifically Fedora) as my main OS, rather than MacOS.
The machine for doing so it's a late 2013 15" MacbookPro with NVIDIA graphics.
For getting everything setup it took a while as a lot of drivers are proprietary, but manage to get most things working (expect for sleep, that for an unknown reason is broken and the Mac takes more than 5 min to wake from sleep, and FaceTime camera not working).
The problem however is that the machine is using the NVIDIA GPU, which causes it to get very toasty and drain battery faster.
I would like to enable the iGPU, but keep the NVIDIA GPU available as sometimes I connect an external monitor using the HDMI port.
I am newbie to Linux and have little knowledge but want to try everything possible to make Fedora work as best as possible on my computer. The procedures I tried were:
-Install rEFIND and try to use an set_apple.efi thing but probably did it wrong and did not work,
-Try to modify NVRAM variables to make the mac use the iGPU by default, but when booting to Fedora still only show up the NVIDIA GPU
Any help is welcome, bur please don't say for me to stay on MacOS or that is impossible as I read from people who manage to succored.
Thanks in advance!
