I have the old memory card from my HTC Trophy, as it stands before WP8 you needed to find a Nokia Symbian device to format it. My Question is will the WP8 devices that have an SD card slot be able to format them also?
Thanks!

Anyone know what type of filesystem mount the original micro-sd of htc hd7?

i'm curious to see what are in original memory but i dont know if it's a problem of filesystem or a memory fault (maybe...)
The only way you are able to read and delete the micro sd is that you have to put it in a Symbian os phone!! Like nokia n95
hello friend. I want to put 32gb in my hd7 also but I am afraid it will destroy the card. can u explain please how u managed to be able to use 32gb in ur phone? this is very important because I read in many places on the web that we should wait for manufactures to release windows 7 signed memory card and that other card that are not signed are automatically fried.
hi i installed wp7 then after it i go back to win mo 6.5

i do every thing after this problem with my device changing rom install nand android and re install wp7 but non of them can detect memory card i do hard reset , task 29
is it soft wear problem or hard wear problem????
please help me urgent
So you are saying that you previously had WP7..So after changing ROM (windows 6.5 or Android) you need to format your card with Panasonic SD formater so it can read the full capacity of your card....BUT.....! You are saying that you did all this steps and still your device doesn't recognize your sd card and also you changed the card with a new one! HMMMMM......
Most probably a hardware problem (sd card holder and reader in the device)
Imo something went wrong with Installation or so! Dunno!
Some guys here said that WP7 will burn your card or something!
What SD cards did you use?
Anyone else that experienced this problem????

Hi everybody,
today i want to get a movie (5,5 GB .mkv file) into my SGS and when i will travel i will be watch it but i have a problem. my phone write me that it cant copy this file into phone. i have free space... where is a problem ? thx
video file size > 4gigs = will not fit on external sd card formatted with fat32
As to how to get to see it on a linux based phone - you will need a linux person to tell you how to setup your sd card so that you can copy large files to it. It might not work in windows after that...
If it was a windows phone you'd format it in ntfs - but I dont think our phones will be happy with that format of card...
Linux peoples - how would this guy get a mem card to format up to take a > 4 gig file on it?
Can it be done easily? What restrictions would there be?
download a tool called 'paragon partition manager'
excellent tool for creating / formatting partitions to operate on linux systems, as well as windows.
ok thanks, but i have in my phone 2 GB microSD card. i want copy into phone's sdcard. so it mean that i should buy larger microsd card
Fastest and simplest way is to cut your movies into parts under 4Gb. This way you don't need to buy a new card or format a current card.
Could he not use GParted and format the card as ext4?
I just bought a new SDHC Card, a 32 gb Class 10 Kingston, and i have two questions about the use of it.
1) What is the best way to format it?
2) Can you just copy all the content of the old SD Card to the new one, by mounting the phone to the PC and insert the new SD Card to the reader in the PC and copy the content from the old card in the phone to the new card, and use it. Does alle the programs, games and photos installed on it then work?
1) Format on the phone using the format option, or on the PC to FAT or FAT32.
2) A physical copy is not possible as far as my knowledge goes, as some of the folders are protected and won't allow to be copied.
Best bet is to use a backup software which practically backsup everything - sms, contacts, apps, settings etc to your memory card.. and restore back to your new one.

Assuming your existing SD card holds only FAT/FAT32 partition, then all you have to do is unmount your SD card and remove it from your phone. Then copy all files into the new card using a PC and then insert the new card to the phone.
Okay, il'l try and se how it goes when i get then new card tomorrow - thanks guys ;-)

windows phone 8?
If you upgrade to WP8.1 (you can get it now through the early-access "Preview for Developers" program) you can install apps to the SD card.
Nokia also offers the ability (as of 8.0 GDR3 a.k.a. "Nokia Black") to move map data from internal storage to the SD card, which helps a bit (I assume you've already moved photos and music over).
