I've had no problems in the past with my contacts when I root/install Roms. My question is this: Where are my contacts in the Icarus HD Rom? When I reboot to stock or Eclipse they are all there, but somehow missing from my Icarus Rom. I even tried finding them from my SIM/SD card with no avail. It's really upsetting because the Icarus HD is my favorite Rom so far. I'm sure it's a simple fix and I am just ignorant of the solution. Any suggestions?
Are your contacts google contacts? If so, sync your google account and google contacts will repopulate. That is, if you had them being backed up in the first place.

I do have them backed up through google. I tried installing 3 other ROM's this morning and all synced my contacts just fine. I solved the problem. I just exported my contacts to my external SD from my stock rom and then just imported them into my Icarus ROM. I appreciate your time and help in the matter though! Thanks Groid!

I rooted and began flashing CM since 5.0.4.1
I can't synch my contacts with gmail anymore.
Everything else works (calendar, Picasa,...).

Moved as not Android Development.
I'm running the latest version as well and all in all everything is working. The only thing I had trouble with was the facebook contacts, just needed time for it to sync
First time rooter here (CM5.0.5.3) and google contacts synced fine.
Edit : I did a full swipe and reinstalled everything and it works...

just doas if you were flashing a rom for the first time (backup all, wipe all, reinstal the rom and the gapps).
Hey all,
I wanted to try one of the 2.2 ROMs floating out about there (and I actually did). With the 2.1 ROMs, it was pretty easy to sync my contacts, calendar, etc with Kies. However, when I tried a 2.2 ROM, the only Kies option was for a firmware update and it wouldn't do anything else.
I did a search and didn't come up with anything. Anyone have an idea for how I can sync the contact so I can have them back when I go to 2.2. I didn't like the idea of not having my contacts, etc, and restoring from Titanium backup didn't work. I wasn't going to enter them all again manually.
Thanks in advance,
Super

You can go back to stock and restore your backup presuming you have one. Then go to contacts, click export which makes a file on your sd, click import then select google as to where you want to import. Then when you go to 2.2 log into your google account and your contacts will sync with googles
Not sure if this is what you were looking for. Hope this helps
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
That will work well enough to give this a try. Thanks!
[Q] Lost Google account->OneCosmics ICS and Nandroiding back? Cannot see in accounts?
Hi guys,
I have been on OneCosmic's ICS RC1 RC2 and RC2.11
I noticed that I couldn't access Google Market and Gmail etc. I have my phone fully set up and running correctly but I noticed that the google account is not there anymore? I believe this might be because I went back to RC1 in CWM to do a backup of some SMS and contacts and then reflashed to RC2.11?
Is there anyway I can log back in to my google account on RC 2.11 without doing a full wipe?
Or is there anyway I can restore data from my now established RC2.11 from a Nandroid backup after flashing from scratch CM7-> RC1->RC2.11-> Restore data?
I think when I do this I loose my Google account again
NOT HAPPY JAN!
Yeah anyway any help would be greatly appreciated. I would love to leave the phone as with all my contacts and SMS/MMS and be able to configure the Google account to activate or log in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks
James
Jeeeze people are not fast to answer here are they haha. Ok thought I would post up to give an answer to my own question in case someone searches for the same thing.
Basically I did a latest nandroid. Then I did a full wipe and format of system and flashed from CM7 stock to RC2.11 then I booted up and logged in as per normal and retained my google account. I restored data ONLY (advanced restore) of the last Nandroid I did and I managed to keep my google account this time? I had a **** time trying to get RC2.11 to log USB to the PC so I shifted over to MyUI 2.5 and changed/tweaked a few things as well...flashed that and it fixed the issue I had with the USB not reading via PC.

James
Hello, i've updated my SGS from a GB JVT ROM to CM 10.1 but i lost all my contacts.
The thing is I have synced those contacts on the old configuration to google before update.
It said all synced ok... i i didn't even bother to check if those contacts really gone to google or not.
After finishing the update, surprise, there are no contacts on my Google account.
Where they gone? Is there any way to recover them?
i'm sure you have a backup (nandroid)
No, unfortunately i did not made a nandroid backup
Hi all,
I wanted to give cyanogenmod a go as I really liked the security guard idea so I used the HTC sync manager to backup my contacts and messages and set about getting cyanogen installed.
All went to plan (pretty much) until I tried to retrieve my contacts etc. I didn't realize the Sync Manager was dependant on Sense which obviously isn't there anymore so the phone won't sync with the software.
What can I do?
I think I can revert to stock if I can find an image and then retrieve the contacts, is there then another way to back everything up?
I hope you can help because my phone's looking very empty and sorry for itself
Thanks
Sync your contacts with google and back up your messages with an app from the play store. I use SMS Backup and Restore.
Thanks, do I need to 'de-root' my phone or can I install a stock image? Would I get this image from HTC?
I went into bootloader and clockworkmod to try and restore the original rom from there, does cyanogen not make a backup of the previous rom?
No ROM makes a backup before it Flashs that is up to you to do yourself. You will have to flash a stock based ROM.
Thanks for the reply. I did a bit of reading before installing and CM seemed like a quick and easy option to get the job done and try an alternative ROM. I even said over on their forum that I had backed up using the Sync Manager and no one thought to mention that I wouldn't be able to restore any data. No one said make sure you take an image yourself because CM won't do it for you.
And to top it all off I'm not that happy with CM, the battery life is atrocious.
Ah regrets!
