Telstra i9305t needing straight answer - Galaxy S III I9305 (4G LTE + 2GB RAM) Q&A, Help &

Gday I can't for the life of me find a straight answer and procedure needed to gain root access on this phone. I've come from ios devices and September this year made the switch due to boredom. Now every galaxy I've had before this was relatively easy to find a how to/guide that gave me a straight answer this device however, not so much.
Questions are:
Rooting- procedure used for i9305t that doesn't include the free imei removal and brick
Odin alternative- I have an apple PowerBook g4 which I know is old but it's been given every possible upgrade and is only used for downloading stuff and other computer things otherwise my ps3, tv or phone(s) to do everything else which is zero.
Im sorry if it's been asked but this phone was about to join the i9000, which is in 2 pieces, cause its being difficult. This is the second phone, first one being i9210t, that xda forums has managed to make harder because of a lack in variation singularity and the assumption that everyone talks in 1's and 0's for example this forum is called i9300 and i9305 both very different phones. I don't wanna read any attempts at a rebuttal to this statement about the problems ive faced here on seperate occasions, just an answer to my questions which might hopefully help out many more people. Cheers

[Q] Which Galaxy S phone would you choose?

Well being that my Captivate is bricked im looking into getting another Galaxy S phone.
Between the Captivate, Vibrant, and I9000....which would you choose?
In my opinion the captivate because of the high class look and feel of the device. The rest of the galaxy s line looks cheap. This is the only one that stands out.
If not the captivate, then the i9000 or epic because of the front facing camera. The included software is moot because of rom flashing.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using Tapatalk
i have a captivate my self, but the vibrant is easier to hold. but really it doesn't matter. but since your getting a new phone, might be a good idea to go with something else, the galaxy s is already dated, the 4g mytouch is nice, the g2, theres the droid x, droid 2, epic, evo. all amazing phones, the droid x is personally my faverate of the lot, well the evo is the galaxy s lol but flash + full keyboard = win.
Why don't you just send it to Samsung and have them flash it back to working order? Seems a bit extreme to buy a new phone, yours can't be that old. Also, have you tried everything? How do you know it's bricked? Did you even try a JIG? You have options. Hell if your gonna dump it that easily send it to me, I can always use a spare to flash, I'll cover the shipping costs, these phones can't be bricked.
i9000 based on the abundance of ROMs, kernels, etc. , FM Radio, FFC, and freedom from AT&T.

I9000 > Captivate > Vibrant
If AT&T didn't touch it, Captivate hands down.
Not to much into the 3gs look of the vibrant or I9000 though, front facing camera...ehhh, I don't need it.
But final decision should be up to you, and what you want.
And ditto what Rhiannon224 said... Are you sure your phone is completely bricked? Not to say you haven't tried everything...

When i first messed up my phone and tried everything i could find then i started this thread -->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818347, and came to the conclusion that my only option is to try Samsung warranty.
What would you recommend i tell them when i call for warranty?....i doubt "Loading custom ROM" is covered in the warranty

Blame the AT&T OTA update, it bricked a lot of phones and Samsung is aware, that is why we got Mini Kies. Samsung will probably just reflash it and you should be good. Also, I have read that this will fix the button combos that some didn't have. Perhaps you got a corrupt bootloader, a Samsung flash will fix it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775911
I'm not sure if this will work.. just trying to give you another method to un-brick the device if possible.
If you really want to buy a device, I agree with one poster above. There are other phones just beside the Galaxy S line. MT4G looks very promising as do other phones. If I had to choose.. I'd say i9000 just because I like flashing too much.
I know this thread is over a month old but i figured i'd give an update.
The call with Samsung when smoothly and the rep didn't even question it when i told her it was because of an OTA update. Had to wait about 3 weeks to get my phone back and it was actually packaged more nicely than when i got it new. So overall i was impressed with Samsung.
Just to note, If any of you guys have to send your phone to Samsung....when you get the phone back let it charge for about 45 mins before turning it on. When i got it today and it didn't turn on while plugged into the charger (or from charging for bout 15 mins) i got pissed lol
Glad to have my phone back and thanks for all you guys input
Wouldn't trade my cap for other versions. I have held the vibrant....fascinate....epic and thought they felt cheap and flimsy compared to that cqptivate

Should I buy the samsung captivate?

hey guys how are you?, I would like your thoughts on this phone( if y'all don't mind) how easy is to root? what are the best roms available? you guys think it will be waste of money buying it?? all the feedback about this phone is welcome, (good and bad)... I am planing on the gifts I will be buying for x-mas , (I know a bit to early) and I was thinking buying this phone for my lil sis, she currently has the motorola flip which I got her last year, I am planning on spending $200 refurbished, out of contract, used in mint condition..I seen so many reviews but we all know that reviews are just eh, the best way is to ask an actual user,I am a sprint user so I don't know nothing about AT&T phones, well thank you guys, i am eager to hear your thoughts on this phone, and or should I consider getting a better one (more recent phone) thank you again!!
Its alright. Check the build number, GPS, and other specifics off the phone. Development makes it amazing

If you are comfortable with HTC modding, then modding SGS is usually mind boggling (at least for most people). I find it much much better, but thats just me. Look at Build number since the newer ones have better GPS and don't suffer from sleep death.
Devs make this a great phone that is very fast with an amazing screen. There are many great custom ROMs here...
If it's a refurbed early model it might have fixed GPS (or not). GPS performance is a crap shoot in general...Otherwise, it's solid.

For 200 bucks this phone is worth it. The roms are great and stable as well as good support incase something goes wrong with flashing or what not, and I think it will still be a good phone in a years time (if you are going on a yearly cycle with new phones for your sister).
pretty much as stated above the phone is a great phone with the exception of the gps , sometimes it works great other times , not so much- if you sister doesn't nee the phone for the gps it is def. a phone she will enjoy using especially with a custom ROM to cater to her likes- bottom line go for it im planning on getting one for my daughter
I'm going to go ahead and list the issues I have with the Captivate off the top of my head and let you decide off that.
As has been stated previously the GPS is generally pretty crappy, but mine's actually been pretty good on the latest leaked firmware KI2.
The cache by default is only around 30M so if you want to download anything larger then that you'll have to flash a modded PIT file or fine some other means to give you a larger cache (see the Cache link in my sig).
Phones tend to have their own individualism so what works for me may not work as well for you
I wish you the best of luck with whatever phone you decide to go with.
I got my Cappy on release day. Never had a single problem with it. Kernel updates are coming to a close and ROMs for 2.3.5. are following closely. Best phone I've ever owned hands down. Development makes it better. I wish my Glock was this perfect! I will be upgrading to Galaxy S II in January when im due, but I will always keep this phone as backup.

the average user, a very common

I saw on an Italian forum (androidworld.it) a thread really fun and special.
practically everyone was telling a story divertende spent with a few friends.
this is an example: long ago a friend of mine bought a galaxy ace, did nothing but talk about how it was "powerful" and fast. Once I asked him why he had not bought a galaxy if he said "That ca * ata? do not even have the processor!" a few months after they stole him and took a replacement for galaxy w. One day he told me he did not like, which was slow etc.etc. then, seeing my old modded Vodafone Smart, asked me how I did and so I talked to him a little bit of root, overclock, and more. Two days later comes back with 'I'm w galaxy where he had installed go launcher and a theme to nokia, the beautiful thing is that then I said, "I have labored hours to change the operating system, I put one of my old nokia. While doing transfer system I almost risked twice to break it ... "At that moment I did not know whether to laugh in his face or jump out the nearest window.
Another time a friend of mine came up to me all happy and told me "I bought the smartphone, the new advertising there." However I wanted to spare me tell you that there is no difference between a smartphone and a lg tribe
Oh, and in any case I think the best average users are over 45 and parents (trollface96);

in other words you treat stupid and embarrassing situations that make us entertained.
possibly write real stories and not false and try not to insult anyone.
good stories: D
i just finished unbricking a HTC one v which was my friends-friends sons. he said that his son tried to flash a kitkat rom on it, and he screwed up becuase he flashed kitkat for HTC one, lol. he mentioned that his son is 12, so i wont expect that to be true .

Ahahahah epic
today i had a stupid moment of myself. i received a HTC M8x(asian variant) to root it for a friend. I did everything and proceeded to flash a custom kernel. when it finished the screen went black. holding power button did nothing and connecting to charger didnt budge it. for 30mins i was panicking and trying to revive it. so i tried turning it on after 30mins so i pressed the power button to see id it does anything.... and it turned on and it was still in recovery. the lock feature from TWRP made a fool of me, thinking that i bricked it lol.

A couple weeks ago I was fixing a cracked screen on my friends phone. I had to drive quite far to get the part and when I had just replaced the screen and started replacing all the other components (the screen is under everything), I managed to pinch a ribbon cable and rip it off. This was only a few hours before I wanted to surprise him with the fixed phone. I ended up going in rush hour traffic to a closer more expensive shop to get another replacement and fixing the phone with only a few minutes before I had to go meet my friend. Overall he was happy I fixed it but I don't think he'll ever know how much trouble it was to do.

Galaxy S6 AT&T 64GB Dies instantly, Deepsleep or hardware problem?

Hay guys,
Edited: on 07/07/2016: Problems First; My AT&T Galaxy S6, reboots randomly, dies instantly and some times freezes, doesn't matter what app i am on. The full story is here if interested, please read below;
I bought a used AT&T Galaxy S 6, 64 GB Black sapphire, Now running 6.0.1 (i sideloaded it) and it has a problem which you guys call it deep sleep problem (I call it, dying phone with no reason) when i bought it, it was running 5.1.1 then (probably BOJ7), and the second day i noticed that it was dead, (i remember i was taking some selfies, pictures, i locked it and after more or less 15 or 20 minutes i wanted to take some more pics, i saw it was not waking up). And to my surprise, I have checked it, when i call the number which is in that phone, the call goes and i can listen on my other phone that the bill is ringing but actually my device doesn't ring at all (while dead) (I have also seen once that the notification LED was blinking Blue, yet the phone was off, itself)
So, story short when i saw the device was unexpectedly off i tried to switch it on by the following methods;
i pressed all the button many times but it didn't respond until, i pressed and kept holding recovery boot combination i.e. volume down + volume up + Power buttons and it booted.
Later on it was good, after two days, it did it again.
Now my concern was rising about Galaxy S6's sudden deaths, (I still don't know whether i should call it a deep sleep and awake problem or it is something related to hardware) so, i thought lets find a way and upgrade it to MM. I searched the xda and found this
Updating to Android 6.0.1 G920AUCU3CPD6 Step by Step {http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s6/general/updating-to-android-6-0-1-g920aucu3cpd6-t3371884}
I upgraded my phone and thought it's fine now, but to my surprise, the phone went off while it was in my pocket with almost 70% battery charged. I was shocked, yet started it with the buttons combo, and yesterday when i left it charging while the battery was about 87% charged, I thought let it go to 100% but when i picked it up after 15 minutes and pushed the home button to see the status the phone was dead again with a RED LED light on while the screen was off, when i pressed the home OR power button the screen showed a big green battery with 100 % Charge (which was indicating as i powered it off and kept charging)
Now my question is that " What the hell is going on?"
If it was a rooting problem? Then, I did an odin flash of BOJ7 with all four files AP, CP, CSC and his child. which should have removed the rooting, and to confirm it whether my device is rooted or the KNOX tripped or not, i have checked the knox it is 00000 which means the KNOX is not tripped.
Please help me guys, this was my dream phone, i can't buy a new one with warranty, and i can't loose it or live it with this problem, my days suck.
please help me,
And today I've seen a new thing may be it's the real problem but I really got it today. I was surfing the net and twitter my AT&T Galaxy S6 suddenly went off and I had to force start it.
Hay guys, i need your help, am i missing you all?
Hay guys, Talvigi back,
As far as no body is interested in my post and may be no one has faced such problem before, so, i am back with some updated information;
Day before Last night, I was very much worried about my phone's behaviour, even i was thinking to show it's way out. But when i was a bit asleep yet awaken i thought way not try to factory reset the device from recovery, formate system devlock and cache partitions?
And i did it while i was half asleep and let the device update it's builtin softwares and WOLLA, it's second day my beloved AT&T specific Galaxy S6 hadn't misbehaved yet, (till now, may be it will make me lying just now)
Edit: (Third Day):
Third Day guys its third day and still my phone has not misbehaved after the above mentioned factory reset, and i hope this will continue to work like that.
Edit: Fifth day:
Sorry Sammy boy but you are a sucking OEM, after two good days my AT&T Galaxy S6 is again misbehaving with me, it again deep slept, just after seconds when i was surfing the facebook and i got lock my device for some seconds. As soon as i wanted to unlock it again i saw that the device was once again not waking up hence i had to push both volume and power buttons to start it.
And it did the same thing while it was kept on my table for a couple of hours.
It's now making me crazy to sell it again and go for a galaxy S5, it least i haven't seen this problem, i actually haven't listened this kinda problem in them from any where.
Edit; Now after a lot of days of sudden deaths and instant restarts, it has started to freeze now, I have not seen this before. I mean when I am using facebook it freezes but doesn't restart as far as I have seen it twice with freeze problem. Now I can say that it is indeed a software problem may be we can suggest it to be a kernel related problem.
So is it because I might have used a 32 GB specific ROM on a 64 GB device?
Is there a real difference between 64 GB and 32 GB ROM.
Hell with the AT&T Galaxy S6.

Sorry man, @hyelton: but you are the great hero for me,
You have been so much helpful to me as well as to many others i have seen,
And to tell the truth, i didn't tag you to help me specifically on this problem,
but i knew you will be the only one to notice me in this crap.
And i believe you have read my problem and have at least thought once, about my situation, haven't you?
And i also know you can off course guide me, or lead me a way through.
Please don't be rude, i beg your kind honour to please suggest me a way out there, any way out! :crying::fingers-crossed::crying::fingers-crossed:
Because there are many people in this forum but you can see no one, no one even noticed my problem.
Hello, I was tagged in your threads and received the notification while I was sleeping. First of all my Galaxy S6 was bought by me on May 6 2015 at an Official AT&T Store, the same Store were, nine years ago, I open a contract account for mobile service. Before Android phones I was a Blackberry user. Never root a phone, never side loaded a Google Platform Upgrade, never bought a used phone. The only time I bought a phone outside an Official AT&T Store was when I bought a brand NEW Google Nexus 5 at Amazon and God knows that my former Nexus 5 was the best phone I ever owned. I always owned the top of the line Blackberry, the Bold series. And all my formers Android phones bought at AT&T were Flagships phones at the moment I bought them. OK now, I read all your threads and when you applied a Factory Data Reset you do, in my humble opinion, the right thing . Unfortunately the problem at your phone is beyond a Factory Data Reset. My advise is that you must go to an AT&T Official Store and ask for a new Nano Sim Card. If that's not work go to an Official Samsung Repair Store or Center. If that's not work, then my friend, take out the Nano Sim Card of your Galaxy S6 and bought a NEW Google Nexus 6p directly from Google or Amazon and push the Nano Sim Card in. You are going to have peace on earth running a Google Nexus phone at AT&T. Remember my fried, NEVER AGAIN buy an used phone and by the way don't side loaded Google Platform Upgrade. Just wait for the OTA regarding Platform Upgrade. I'm really sorry for the bad experience with your Galaxy S6.

So, to buy a flagship, in my dreams! Yet I will try to manage on a Huawei X5 or oppo F1

My dear friend at 16 years old I left my parents house and work hard and studied hard. Now I'm 60 years old and still work hard. That's the way life goes, don't fight it. You are a good person , work hard and enjoy your life and all the Android phones you are going to have.

Somebody, help me, please. My system is really unsustainable and doesn't tell me when to stop working and when to restart.

Well, guys i somehow have been able to maintain my device to keep away from all those misbehavings which it had to do all the time. But i don't want to exaggeratedly lie that they are gone now, they are here, and they also sometimes show there faces but rarely, very rarely indeed. It all could happen after a couple of factory resets and keeping the device away from auto updates mostly from googleplaystore.
Well I have ODIN back and now i'm back on 5.1.1 BOJ7. And surprisingly the reboots are still here, I think, will have to kill my wish of being on Galaxy S6 for some more months and I will have to go back to the market and buy a LG G4 or Galaxy S5 may be?
People say their experience with Marshmallow has not been good but i would mine was the worst with S 6.
I think this device has a factory fault, but as far as i have bought it in used condition and the device is an AT&T device, that too out of the US, so samsung would surely won't help me, neither i have any warranty here.
I hat you Samsung/AT&T for making such a piece of crap.
Any body in this world has the same kind of problem with the Galaxy S6 AT&T 64 GB, or I am alone?

Hello, new here with questions about three devices

Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well! I signed up with the forums because I have questions about three devices I have and was hoping to get some help on them. I know that there are separate forums for each devices, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to give an overview here as well.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (AT&T), an Insignia Flex 11", and just recently received an AT&T Radiant Core (if I am correct, an AT&T-branded ZTE Radiant smartphone)
I have the Galaxy Note 3 because I bought it some years back when AT&T was still supporting the 3G network. The Radiant Core was mailed to me by AT&T because the 3G network will be shut down soon, and the Insignia was purchased on a lark.
I'd like to root all three, but the more I research, the more unlikely this seems. I haven't really tried anything with the Samsung just yet, but the Insignia doesn't have much out there on it besides dead links. It appears there was an app called Bin4ry that could root the system, but all the links I've found are dead.
As for the Radiant, I would like that rooted soon since I have been doing nothing but charging it since I received it. My Samsung will be disconnected from the network in about a week, and the Radiant will be activated. As a result, I'd like the phone to be ready (or bricked) soon. I've read, however, that network-branded phones are generally not worth the trouble of rooting if it can be done at all. I haven't seen much in the way of boot.img or recovery.img files for this phone, either. Perhaps it's not worth it?
As for why I would like to root, well, the Samsung has been a good small-screen media consumption device, but there are just too many pre-installed apps taking up space that I can't get rid of, including discontinued Samsung apps that are never going to be used. The Insignia doesn't have much on it, but it has a nice big screen and it came with a keyboard, so I'd like to experiment with it a bit. The Radiant is brand new and has not been used, so if I'm going to root it, I'd like to do it before using it for anything.
So! That's my story. If anyone can offer advice, I'd appreciate it. Thank you!
