I'm thinking of buying a Nexus 7, but I'm seeing tons of people posting with all kinds of screen problems. I'm wondering, is everyone having issues, or is it just the people who are having issues that are posting? So if you have a Nexus 7 and it is working great, I would love to hear from you.
No problems what so ever, ordered 27 June, got it yesterday and I've been through two full battery charges and rooted and its still running like a champ. Don't hesitate!

Mines great! It's probably just a 'nexus' of complaints here! Where else would you talk about it, that's making it look worse than it is perhaps.
Only problem I had was that it turned up TOTALLY empty of charge and needed a few minutes to get past 0%. Once done, it's been working great.
No flicker
No squeaky sides
No raised glass
It works and works great.
Non-rooted(so far), standard rom. Nothing out of the usual.
I dont! absolutely love the device!

Works beautifully for me. Problem free!
My only problem is that I can't put it down and my ipad has started getting dusty since I got my N7 on Tuesday!

As per any new device, there are bound to be ones that make it thru production with a problem or two. Apparently screen issues have been what's the most prominent.

Works amazing for , dont hesitate.
No problems at all. My device is flawless. Great build quality on it.
Might be better if you create a poll then you will truly see most don't suffer from reported issues. It could be as simole as do you have any major hardware issues vs. Those who dont. Or are you satisfied with your nexus 7 vs. Those who arwnt. If you do, change thread title also. The complaints will always be voiced more over those who satisfied with their devices.
I'd easily recommend anyone to buy one of these ASAP.
No problems at all with mine.I am very happy with mine.Fast, looks good
And no issues with anything I have tried to do with it.
Everything is flawless here too. Highly recommended. The UI smoothness has me sold.

No problems either.

16gb version with no problems no dead pixels either I checked
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I've got 3 dead pixels at the very bottom trim of the screen which are only barely noticable when watching a movie with weird borders.
Not returning it because of that, still very happy.
Mine came form google play perfect expect screen Flickr which I think is a driver issue.
Some people reporting getting replacements with the same exact issue.
Hello xda I'm wondering who else has screen lift.
I got my nexus about 5 days ago and my friend right when got it checked for screen lift. It was fine then but I recently noticed it keeps getting worse on my right side!! I'm afraid that it is going to get a lot worse and I don't know what to do? Is there anything that I can do to prevent screen lift?

I never had screen lift on my first N7. I had bezel sag down the left hand side instead.

As of this week, there's a creaking sound on my upper left side (of course, where else..)
Anyone else had similar luck? Was pretty happy with it up till now, well actually I'm mostly still happy with it.
I just assume I need to buy a new screen protector now if I RMA it right? Or do they give the same device back?
And does anyone know how the RMA process works if you bought from an Australian retailer?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
They send the same device back if it is fixable but it might have a new screen on it

I used to claim i got a CBOK with no problem at all. Last 2 days the screnn lift appear. How did i notice it? I just got paranoid about problems on my N7. But now i realize that this thing is so tiny that its no a problemt at all. I will no brother myself because that kind of stuff. Love my n7.

Well I didn't care about my lift but now it creaks lol
But flawless apart from the screen issue, I've never had a problem with much flicker or speaker issues, only on 4.1, but 4.1.2 fixed for me.

Hi guys. I have a Nexus S and I already posted this in the NS and N4 forums.
Now... I've been wanting a Nexus 7 ever since it was announced, but only now that I can afford one.
But now I see I've got a chance to buy a 16gb Nexus 4.
I was planning on continuing to use my Nexus S as it totally rocks running CM10.1 and using the Nexus 7 for browsing the web around the house and playing games.
If I would buy the Nexus 4 I would obviously not afford the Nexus 7 for a while. But the Nexus 4 is such a sexy piece of hardware and it has a much better camera than the Nexus S and I've got a baby on the way and I would love to be able to take good pictures and HD videos of my little ones.
Help me decide!
Nexus 7 + Nexus S
Or
Nexus 4 only
I´ll tell you one thing that might sway your opinion a bit...
I am in Iceland... A 16gb Nexus 4 is 99.900 ISK = 775 USD. A 32gb Nexus 7 is 59.900 ISK = 465 USD.
:crying:

Well, speaking as a newer parent (22 month old daughter) in the long run you'll value your pictures far more than whatever hardware you get today. So if the phone will be your primary camera, get one with a good camera...and fast. My Evo 3D was so slow from button press to photo actually taken, I kept missing great shots...but I digress.
Those prices really suck though...makes me think there could be money being a technology mule. LOL

Nexus 7 + Nexus S.
Then wait for the next nexus phone or the 'rumoured' X-Phone by Motorola.

Nexus 4. Quality pictures of your baby will be more valuable. Later on you can get the new nexus 7 inch device.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
Sounds like a tough pickle...if it wasn't for the pictures I would say go nexus s and nexus 7 that is about to be my combo when my nexus 7 comes in. I went with that option simply because I was tired of waiting to get a nexus 4 that and I am temporarily computerless.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
Well if you get them shipped from america and paid american prices you could get both for the price you are paying for the N4.
There are companies you can use to buy them and ship them to you.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I recommend you the 7 & nS combo.
The 7 is a dream.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I would say you should get the Nexus 7 and keep the Nexus S. That is what I did, and I love it.
I would take the Nexus 7 cause i don't care about camera and the nexus s can do almost all things the nexus 4 can. It's just slower.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I'm actually swaying toward the NS+N7 combo.
I'm seeing a lot of threads about issues with the N4. I'm not the type who has to have the newest gadgets so I think I might just wait until most of the issues with it have been resolved and then it might have reduced in price a bit here in Iceland.
Sent from my Nexus S
I have both the Nexus 7 and Nexus 4.
You should definitely get the n4. Why downgrade to a 2 year phone? I bought the n7 first then a month later i got the n4. It's been great so far. My only wish is that my n4 would be more battery efficient like my n7. I love my n7 because of the size, gaming performance is amazing, and did i mention battery life is superb?

My Nexus S can do pretty much anything the Nexus 4 can... Although a lot slower I am rooted, running CM10.1
I think a Nexus 7 will quench my thirst for a quicker device which can browse the web and play games around the house.

I have lived the nexus 7 since launch. if you need a phone as your main camera thenget a Samsung. I bought a nexus 4 sixteengig. sold out right away and bought notetwo. battery life wasn't that Good andno ability to swap batteries. the 3100 mah battery on this bad boy means you will never . miss a photo or video opportunity due to dead battery. internal plus a 64gig external means recording lots of hd video. I would hit eBay.

I was also considering a new phone, but got the 7 instead, and I'm so glad I did. Love it. Quite happy still using my galaxy s(1) for a while longer. The nexus 7 is something different than just another phone, when you already got a phone that you're still happy with.

So the general consensus is "screw the kid and your memories, get a tablet instead?" Nice... :what:

Get the N7. The Nexus 4 to me, just isn't worth it. Too many things led me to not buying one, and I instead stuck with my Gnex. 90% of users don't even use that Snapdragon CPU. The camera isn't that great. Front and back both glass which is a big no no for me.
Trust me, the N7 is well worth it.
It seems to me that with that difference in price, you could buy the N7 and then get a decent little point and shoot (or maybe even a super zoom) camera. Keep your S for a while and save, then buy the N4 if it's still what you want.

Hi guys, after having so much trouble last year with screen lift issue I quit on nexus 7,
So 2 days ago still wanting a nexus I just gave a second chance and got a new 32gb. Looks like the screen lift is no more here but now I notice a very different hue tint on screen, is very pink/yellowish in compare to my iPad, and my kid nabi 2, I went to store and compared with an open one they have and is obvious mine was very pink/yellowish, I also notice that mine was extremely more bright at full brightness and colors looks good just whites are out of balance, but since I use to read books on white background and browsing the web I hate the pinkish on white background.
I got a replacement one and looks exactly like the returned one. So what you think guys/? Did the newest batch of nexus are all like this, did Asus are using a different screen to solve the screen lift issue?
Should I keep this one. ?
Another thing I notice shadows on left an right side when in portrait mode. Whites looks like an old pirate map.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Might be tech ocd might also just be a very slight tint. I have a brand new 32gb model and I am very impressed with the screen this device packs. Asus might have changed something regarding display in the newer models. Not to sure though.
Edit: this is my 3rd nexus 7. The other two were faulty. (Coaster rings in middle of display + clicking sound due to faulty back cover)

This is not normal ? Or all new models are like this?

Doesn't look normal to me. I would be taking it back to the store.
That looks defective to me. I haven't seen any pinkish tinges on any of the N7s I've seen at stock settings.

I bought a Nexus 7 in August, sold two months later. Last month I bought another one and returned it one week later because I needed money. I bought my 3rd Nexus 7 today! They had no issues at all and I was/am happy with my Nexus 7!
Maybe FutureShop Canada is getting the good ones

Can you take a picture like the one I post, comparing your nexus with any PC or other tablet.
I'm frustrated. But still like the nexus 7, overall the colors looks sharp and when im out of my pc.s using my nexus my eyes think is a fair white screen, but working on any of my PC,s then going to the nexus is like looking at a PinkyPad

Yeah man. Your nexus looks with a very good hue tint in compare with the viao..

I will give a little time to see if colors get better, maybe the screen LEDs need to cure or something

Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
You can't even swap it for a different one? Even though you purchase with a gift card it still represents a value (in your case apparently the exact value of one Nexus 7) which should function as it should. Let the shop return the faulty one themselves.
Yap, I did swaped once the very next day, just to get a second nexus exactly identical, but from a different location.. I have 30 days so I maybe wait for the next batch. Maybe I'm lucky and grab a rumored nexus 7 2nd gen

Awesome! I thought I was the only one with a coaster ring
This is my fifth one so I'll deal with the ring. It goes away when I buff the screen, but comes back when I start touching the screen again...fingerprints
