I just found this, Perhaps it will solve your problem:
fohdeesha said:
Ah interesting, I would think i9000 bootloaders on an i897 would CAUSE issues!
I put together a little package for anyone with an i897 captivate still having shutdown issues and is still frustrated. Give this a try, I have a feeling they will disappear.
Use this Odin one click to wipe/reset your phone to the latest official rom, uckk4. This one click INCLUDES the latest bootloaders ever released for our phone, both primary and secondary. These are the bootloaders that have made mine and others shutdown issue disappear. This is completely safe to one-click no matter what is on your phone right now, just use a reliable USB cable like with any other flash. No matter what state your phone is in, if you can get into download mode, this will wipe your phone to 2.3.5 with 2.3.5 bootloaders
http://fohdeesha.com/data/other/android/i897uckk4 with latest BL.zip
After you've done that, use this odin package to install CWM recovery for the stock 2.3.5 installation you now have
http://fohdeesha.com/data/other/android/uckk4 CWM recovery.zip
Now you can get into CWM and flash whatever rom you want! ICS, jellybean, whatever. And you now have the latest 2.3.5 bootloaders and your shutdown issue should be gone. I've done this several times to several captivates now with zero issues. I hope this helps someone!

You actually make me wonder if Mosaic was I9000 based.. That would explain a lot if using those bootloaders fix your problem!
Enjoy your thanksgiving and good luck with your wife!

Yep...Mosaic was i9000 GB based. -- so i9000 bootloaders.

Yeah I remember now. I9000 ROMs aren't being ported anymore, are they? I know flashing a I9000 ROM is quite the bad idea on our phone (even tho some people reported it worked fine) but it makes me wonder if using a I9000 ROM on I9000 bootloaders would be fine for those with SoD issue on JB where only flashing the I9000 BLs don't solve their problem.. (PS.: Don't attempt this if you don't know what you're doing lol). I'm thinking the home button won't work and screen might not be oriented correctly tho.

At&t had some bad builds for the cappy (early builds). At some point they offered to replace those specific for newer builds causr of that problem.
In my sig, there's another possible fix. Seems to have work for many other users but I'm not sure if a hardware issue can be fixed by flashing. The only thing I know for sure is that I9000 seems to fix most people' SoD

[ROM / GT-P7510] - Stock Rooted / No Mods / De-Odex'ed - HC 3.2 - HTJ85B.UEKMP

As the name implies this is a bone stock rooted ROM with the exception of root and busy and its de-odexed.
I also updated all the apps. So its not really bone stock but.. Close enough
This ROM has two purposes...
1. For someone that wants just that, a stock rooted ROM with no mods.
2. For others that want to dive into development or at least tinker around with there own custom ROM. This is a great base to work from! All the menial tasks such as rooting and de-odeodexing have been done for you.
Hope you find value in this!

Correct, WiFi only. GT-P7510 = WiFi only model.
It may work on on the variants but I really dont know because I dont have one.
If the mount points are the same then you can flash it and let us know.
What model do you have?
I have the wifi only, and am trying to get a stock only rom thats rooted, i download a rom and each time i try to download from market i keep getting download failed so i figured i try stock again and yours looks prettty promising.

If you get download failed try to clear market data in Application Settings. That usually fixes the dreaded market download failure.

I'm on stock KMN that I rooted myself and am showing an update to KMP, but it fails every time so I figure it's probably due to the fact that I'm rooted.
That said, I thought I would give this a try, but I'm loath to reinstall everything afterwards so my question is whether this requires a wipe? I'm assuming this is installed from recovery, is that right?

Trouble waking after rooting

Hi, I have rooted using Doomlord's method. But I have problems waking the note up from sleep. Upon pressing home/power button, the black screen displays random red/blue/green/white pixels appearing slowly until the entire screen is filled like in milkyway. I have to try repeatedly to get back to my widget locker screen. Anyone can help? Thank you.
I have never heard of your problem before, but it sounds like a cool effect.

Yeah it looks pretty cool. like the milky way. Haha I think it's just a problem with the set's display. I'm fine when on stock firmware and kernel. When I tried flashing franco kernel the problem recurred. Found a guy on franco.kernel's thread with the same issue.

Did you recently buy your SGN? I remember reading somewhere that it is due to the newer notes' kernel sources. I get the same issues too. So atm, I just stick with a rooted CF kernel.

Hey, I have the same problem and after my research, our note from SG which I believe you recently bought too needs to use kernel 2.3.6.14 above. So suppose your rom is fitted with say a Franco kernel, what you can do is:
1. Flash the rom, then after which reboot and make sure it loads fine. Access back to recovery with VOL UP + MENU + POWER, flash a new kernel.
2. replace the kernel in the .zip of the rom and then flash it as normal.
Scared the **** out of me too, I thought I bricked my phone

[Q] Gingerbread with Sense

What happened to Rock Steady CM7 with Sense? The thread is closed and the download links don't work.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1003069
Is there any way to get CM7 for the Hero with Sense?
If not, there is Gingerbread with Sense. I found Sensible Gingerbread on the Wiki.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059481
When I flashed the ROM earlier it would not work, but I'll try again later.
Check out the Hero Development forum. There's a gingerbread ROM with sense 3.5 called Zero Hero. I don't even like sense on our Heros and i think its pretty sweet.

If the browser doesn't work download Opera or Dolphin. Will work just fine. We optimized that rom to run pretty damn good in these old heros. Just don't fill up the home screens and tons of apps or it will bog down.

Thanks for the reply. I'll try Dolphin since I've used it before and it was okay. I don't know why, but I prefer the original Browser.
EDIT: Oh and btw, WiFi was not working for me on Zero Hero Sense. Is there a way to fix that?
hey just an fyi we dont talk about rocksteady around here the guy who made the ports was bannanas to say the least matt knows what im talking about lol.
Oh ok sorry.
The Sensible Gingerbread says to flash FR-recovery. What is that? I currently have ROM Manager and the Clockwork Recovery. Whenever I try to flash Sensible Gingerbread with that, it reboots into recovery every time I try to reboot it.
firates is just a tool that partitions your sd card for better memory management theres a thread in development on how to set it up.

Is there something different that I need to do for Sensible Gingerbread than I do for most roms?
The original thread says
How to install(might be a waste of time)
wipe ALL, flash FR-recovery, wipe ALL, reboot recovery, flash ROM, reboot. It is also recommended that you have an s-off bootloader, since FR is a recovery modification. It installed fine for the testers, so YMMV. But be warned, bricks are your fault, not someone elses Also, the CPU frequencies are now 245xxx (needs to be fixed, keep reading) - 729xxx (careful, some phones can only handle 691xxx). You need an overclock method (setCPU, overclock widget) to change the frequencies to 264xxx - 691xxx.

Clean reinstall ICS - need help choosing the right ROM

Getting sick of the ICS battery and kernel issues and have decided to clean out the phone and install everything fresh.
I am currently on an unrooted stock ICS ROM (N7000XXLRK) and understand that I should go back to a GB ROM first then install ICS. I will search on here for a guide on how to do it (links welcome ) but am confused as to which ROM I should use of the many stock ROMs posted on here.
Since I am going to do a clean install, is it worth going back to the XXLRK ROM or is there an improved one which has sorted the battery kernel issues out? Which GB ROM can I safely go back to without confusing things before I reflash ICS?
Is it recommended that anything else is added or flashed while I have the hood up? Unless there is an uber stable custom ROM I want to stay stock, but will want to root it.

upgrading to the latest ICS kernel doesn't necessarily guarantee that your deep sleep and excessive battery usage woes will go away.... your deep sleep and battery drain issues are subjective and have lots of factors that might contribute to it.
Don't let the notion fool you into thinking that your issues(above) will simply be resolve by simply upgrading to the latest firmware. Because I'll tell you now.. it will not still. (infact there have been people complaining that upgrading to the latest ICS one have increase more their battery drain than ever before), unusual as it may seem... but it has been complained about already.

First thing I am just wondering why this quoting is broked ? looks like something is broken in this thread.

Third I was just answering him the question he asked in "OP"
Fourth if you are facing deep sleep issues or your device is not going to deep sleep mode then OP can try this..
Turn ON the Airplane Mode.
Switch Off your Phone.
Take the battery OUT for a minute or TWO
Put it back and start your phone.
Wait for everything to load
Turn off the Airplane Mode.
After that you can check the same in CPUSPY

Thanks for that.
I have tried the method you describe and also looked at CPUSpy with BBS and on top of that I have the keyboard lockup issue too in Chrome.
It seems that the quality of the phone is completely lower since the ICS updates with it not providing a full day of use on one charge as well as me having to be careful about bleutooth/wifi usage and time that I use the phone to surf. Quite ridiculous really and I haven't had to use a smartphone like this since the days of the HTC Diamond.
Before I revert back to GB and be done with it, I want to try an nice clean ICS install and give it one last chance, unless there is a custom ICS ROM you think I should consider.

Ahoi,
i thing i have a question to this thread.
If i am curently on stock ROM germany open N7000XXLRG_N7000DBTLRG_N7000XXLRB (after rooting, simlock unlocking and unroot)
can i simply try another ROM via PC odin from this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
I wanna just try if the battery will better work. (in the moment 23h 30min of using, display on 4h, deep sleep 18h and battery with 28%)
Thanks.

Yes, using pc odin you can flash what you like. If you want good battery, it's worth doing a clean install ie perform data wipe/factory reset to clear any old mess, obviously if you're going onto ics make sure you have a safe kernel before performing any wipes at all.
To be honest though, for ICS you're getting pretty good battery life, I doubt you'll top it except going back to GB.
All the best, let us know how you get on.

Yes, I understand that WipeAll is the best way. But this mean, flash safe kernel = root (or can i just flash safe kernel on my stock ICS via PC odin? )
And root ICS = go to GB directly rooted kernel and....etc.
In my old Galaxy Spica I have change kernel or mod (rom) every month but was always just 2.2 froy. So no worry about it.
And still i am reading all thread of all rom in XDA. No rom is perfect. Its working but sometimes some bugs...so i am tired (2 years with Spica) of looking for the best kernel for my note.
Now i want just one normal working with a little good live of battery
btw. What is your live of battery on custom kernel 4.0.3. ? If you say i have pretty good battery i will not it change

Firstly battery: ics swallows a lot more juice than gb, so what you're getting is pretty good. I'm currently on paranoid android jb beta 1.4 with Beastmode kernel and getting roughly 8 hours with 4 hours screen on. I use it a lot! When I was on pure ics 4.03 I was getting around the same.
Roms and kernels: if you flash an already rooted gb, you can do so now with pc odin and it will automatically root. When you've done that, check to see if cwm is installed as it may be part of the package in which case your good to go, if not just flash a Chainfire kernel. Then you have cwm recovery (vol up, home and power) and flash this rom package which includes a safe kernel.
Hope that makes sense.

Thanks for that.
I have tried the method you describe and also looked at CPUSpy with BBS and on top of that I have the keyboard lockup issue too in Chrome.

I presume these ROMs have their kernels built in.
Would you thus recommend one of these custom ROMs for my requirements over say stock ICS with perhaps a different kernel? I am not really looking for lots of features as I would like to build up the apps on my own, ie shut out bloatware. I would like it to be stable and have at least 15 hours of battery life with 3-4 hours screen time, which is what I enjoyed with GB. How do you think CM9 fits in with your selection?
Last flashing I did was on a Dell Streak which was easy as there was only DJ Steve at the time, Seems with the Note I am starting again from scratch, completely different flash process and loads of ROMs. Sort of blinded by it all to be honest

Paranoid looks very interesting.
Is it recommended that I try it or is it too unstable and thus I should I stick to the other listed Roms?

First thing I am just wondering why this quoting is broked ? looks like something is broken in this thread.
Second thing I didn't advised anyone (not the op) that your issues will be resolved by just doing the things mentioned above. Confused ? Check OP.I am currently on an unrooted stock ICS ROM (N7000XXLRK) and understand that I should go back to a GB ROM first then install ICS. I will search on here for a guide on how to do it (links welcome ) but am confused as to which ROM I should use of the many stock ROMs posted on here.
CHEERS

Random reboots into recovery

Hello xda
I know there quite a few posts out there with people detailing their phones rebooting randomly but my phone just hit a new level of weird.
My i9000 reboots randomly into cwm recovery menu for no good reason (I know there is another thread about this but that instance is on the Nexus S and the thread has basically died). This started occurring shortly after I flashed slim ROM 4.2.2 build 5 (came from CM10.1 nightlies). Flashing the rom again and updating it to build 6 has done nothing to alleviate the issue.
I'm using the Semaphore kernel with no OC or changed settings, and having recently bought a new battery, I'm really not sure where to start looking for the problem.
If anyone can give me some tips it'd be greatly appreciate, thanks in advance.

hi
randomly i will got this problem if i m flashing backward. like from 4.2.2 - 4.2.1, or 4.1.x to 4.0.x. or repeatedly changing between kernel (i always do this to modified ROM to suits my settings n need) its probably due to changing partition in system or kernel clash (even i did all wipe) in internalsd.
Sorry to say. it will come worst sometimes if u ignore da problem or keep flashing ROM to avoid it. 'Luckily' about 2 hour ago my sgs just did. Constantly booting to recovery n its juz bootloop between kernel splashscreen n sgs white splashscreen after it.3 combo button will not working for recovery n only download mode accessible.
no more method for me . Juz flashing back to stock firmware JVU +CF-ROOT with odin was da answers
but if u dont familiar with odin.seek guide here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2149455
but use it as ur last method!
clashing between titan.....no! kernel maybe da reason.do some wiping before changing kernel or ROM. n format system if necessary before flashing!

Reboots into CMW with Slim Bean 4.3 and Semaphore
Hi guys, any news on the subject? Exactly the same thing happening to me. I did a clean installation of Slim 4.3, after using CM10 and everything seems to be working perfectly except it reboots into CWM every 1-2h!!! I haven't changed any configuration and didn't mess with the kernel that came with the ROM, which is Semaphore... Is it a kernel issue? Should I try to flash the latest version?

I run into the same problem with my current update of my I9000 to CM 10.2.1 and the Semaphore Kernel 3.3.0 (JB).
Any ideas on this issue from the pros?
I realized that it was happening to me only when I was loosing the network coverage, like being in the underground or roaming or things like that... I don't know if it happens to everyone but in my case it's definitely this. If there is no network available my phone will boot into recovery after a while. If the signal is OK, it doesn't happen. Maybe it has something to do with the modem?!

Deactivate Deepidle in Semaphore manager app and these reboots should be gone.
Did the trick for me.
