Help! The power button on my gt n7000 suddenly stopped working. My phone is rooted and running the latest nightly build of cyanogen mod 10. I tried to do a full wipe in CWM but couldn't do it because i couldnt select without the power button. I tried to pull the battery for 10 minutes and after putting the battery in,the phone turned on itself and the power button still didn't work.
go into the testmode by dialing the testcode and see if the button works hardware wise.

When the volume keys to select the option "reboot system now" and press the power button nothing happens. Nothing happens even when I press the home button, which I did not ever worked. When I hold power button for 10 seconds the cell phone turned off, and when I hold a few seconds, the mobile restart and back into recovery mode.

if u guys just like to get the phone back to work, it would be the best to just flash a new ROM via ODIN. After that, the phone boots normally.
But I dont know if this is an option!
Hope u are still able to get the phone to downloadmode via 3-Button-Combo?!

Home button isn't working -> no 3 button combo
try using a jig to get it in download mode and flash a stock rom
In recovery mode, you also can boot system with power-button.

but that depends from the installed Recovery!
Okay, so first of all, thanks to all who take the time to actually look at this thread.
The Problem
Okay, so, my little brother has the Galaxy Mini, he set a lock on it (you know the one where you drag your finger to the points on the screen? the 3 x 3 block of circles?) Well, anyway, he forgot his password and has now had his phone "system locked". Anyway, there is an option to sign into his google account on screen though and that would solve the problem, but guess what? Yep, you got it! The little cretin has forgotten his email and password. I tried mine but that didn't work, so I guess it has to be his own.
My question is this: What if anything, can I do to solve this problem?
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
go to recovery mode and wipe all ur data and cache but remember it will delete all ur apps and settings

I've found that sometimes going to "advanced-->reboot recovery" and then "reboot phone" sometimes fixes this. Everything seems pretty hit-and-miss though, you sometimes just need to mess around and flash the hell out of it.
Is there any combo to get in recovery after power on phone?
I remember that in Zero 2.3.4 (but im not sure), is G button + power button, but it isnt work in CM 10
Thank you.

Power your phone off, push and hold volume down, then hold power button as well and hold it for a few seconds. Then you ll reboot to recovery or simply boot the phone, hold the power button, choose reboot, in the next menu choose boot recovery and done.

doesnt work.
simple use SFT.
there is PBR (iirc, pseudo-boot recovery, button combo to enter recovery, cmiiw) on cm10. I think cm10.1 also has it.
turn on the phone, focus on led button, when it start blink for the first time press volume down + power button. You should press it at the right time to make it work. Tried it couples of time.
thank you, it works!

Hi!
I've just upgraded my Galaxy S Plus to the official 2.3.6 Gingerbread. Everything seems ok, maybe a bit slow though, I'd like to do a master reset but I can't be able to access the Recovery mode by pressing Volume Up and Power, Nothing happens. It just starts up normally.
I can't find anything regarding this matter.
Hopefully someone can help me.
Thanks :cyclops:
Odp: Galaxy S Plus no recovery mode
The correct combination to activate the recovery is VolUp+Home+Power.

Have you rooted the device?

press volume up + power until you see samsung logo, wait a couple of seconds then release power and then volume up. you should see an android out of the box, press menu. you shuld be in recovery now. you don't need root to do this, and you can root your sgs+ from stock recovery (i have an sgs+)
it worked
