So a week ago when the new 4.2 Rom arrived I didn't even doubted to install the Rom but after seeing all the bugs in it I really wanted to try the new paranoid android beta but after seeing it not completely yet I proceeded to try to recover my backup but now with the new mapping of the stupid jellybean it doesn't find the backup although I have confirmed its there and I've noticed allot of directories with a strange 0 & 11 what can I do?! I can't lose all my data

Get an image of 4.1.2 flash it then recover your nandroid. Save everything with Titanium backup then update to 4.2 and recover data that way.

that's what I tried but it keeps the mapping from 4.2 or well at least in miui and aokp or does it needs to be a completely stock image?!

It keeps the file structure on /storage0 because there is no recovery yet which supports the conversion from 4.2 -> 4.1.x
You most likely need to convert it manually ...

Hi my wife's galaxy s has started turning the screen on at random..and continuously sometimes. This as we know will start ruining the battery.I've had many issues with her ics. For some reason since installing a kernel. It messed it all up somehow the remains of the boot image or kernel etc is still onboard thankfully I still can boot her. Can't apply custom roms at all. I can send an official rom from the PC but that's it. I managed to get gb on. Its started randomly turning the screen on. Fairly certain its not the rom she's had it since last year
Any ideas? Is there anyway to totally strip the phone of virtually everything to the core and start against

If you think its a kernel issue you could run a kernel cleaner script then reflash, but my sgs did this when it got water damage almost exactly as your described

Thanks for the reply do you know where the kernel script is?

Do a nandroid backup. Then copy necessary files to SD card (rom, kernel, modem, whatever.)
Then format /system and do a factory reset. Then do a fresh install of your kernel and rom.
Then in cwm go to backup and restore, advanced restore, and restore her data!
Then your phone is fresh .

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166954 here you go read the guide and flash it , I seriously doubt the other suggestion will work as the nandroid backup restores it to exactly how it was before I mean like if your wifi was left on it will be on after you restore exact, so what ever bug is doing this will almost defiantly restore aswell

It will work we are just saving data like settings and apps.

It backs all the system apps up aswell and every single thing so if there is a bug it will restore that aswell... your better off just redownloading the Alps from play market after and using a sms backup app if you want a clean install

Hello guy ! I just wanna know if it's possible to go back in 4.1.2 ?!
OTG doesn't work on 4.2 ! And some other thing !
Please help me
Of course it's possible, I did it. But you will have to backup all your apps, do a factory wipe and reload either 4.1, 4.1.1 or 4.1.2
I started clean with 4.1 and let the device do OTA incremental updates to 4.1.1 and 4.1.2
I was a pain, but not as much as 4.2 is.
So if I have a cwm backup of 4.1.2 I can't restore it over a 4.2 update? I am rooted and unlocked. I don't see why I wouldn't but I want to be sure.

Did you save the backup to your desktop?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Yeah but its also on my SD, I don't see why that makes a difference either.

I'm not 100% sure but I think going backwards you wind up wiping the system totally. I'm actually curious about this because I'm considering running 4.2.

I did it without losing data. You have to move your data back to the correct location after restoring a 4.1.2 backup because 4.2 moved everything to a subdirectory. With TWRP you also have to move your backup to where TWRP can find it since Restore has no option to navigate to a different directory.
Hi there,
So i got the Problem that there are currently like Daily New nightly versions which i want. The updating is no Problem, i just flash it trough cwm without Any wipe and it works perfectly and no data are lost Or sth. The only Problem is my idoak kernel and an Importe camera APP Form 20va are lost i got again the kernel Form the pca man Rom..:/
Can i change sth. For not losing them?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
The Kernel is flashed with the ROM so you have to flash it manually after every update.
Hmm..
Can't i maybe not just delete some files Form the ZIP which are the kernel? ^_^
Btw: is it right that a kernel neeeds some time like a Week to get "real working"?

Hallo every one,
I use the @Adam77Root's twrp 2.7.0.0 and everything worked fine .I would take a backup from cm 11 nightly today but I got an error. It failed to take a System backup.
Any ideas to fix it.

The CameraApp3.apk must be corrupted somehow. Is that the ported stock camera? I'd move it to user apps.
