[q] downloading do not turn off target

HELP HELP HELP -- I recently plugged my phone into my com to transfer music. samsung kies then started up and told me i needed a firmware upgrade. I proceeded to upgrade and mid upgrade i received an on screen message that my device wasn't recognised and the upgrade was auto cancelled. I now have a message with bright yellow/green trianle that says "do not turn off target". I have reinstalled kies - no luck. knocked phone on and off -no luck. i'm at a loss with what to do with the phone now !! phone not even being recognised by com or kies. Can anyone help please??? many many thanks in advance... thanks. ian.

Seems that you're new to that, so let me explain: if you see the yellow triangle with the android, you're in download mode. Normally, you access it by pressing power+home+vol down buttons while screen is off. As long as you can access download mode, your device isn't bricked. Now that you can't access anything else than download mode, you have to flash a new firmware with Odin. I recommend you to search for the JW4 firmware here in general section. There you should find help on how to flash it(best is Faryaab's thread).

maybe you can try and do a hard reset and flash a ROM from yr SD card..reboot in recoverymode..if the phone does not reboot..try and run the rooting program,might work.But most likely you'll have to reinstall the firmware...

Yep, I don't think that he has rooted, so flashing a ROM won't work.

hmmm....i get it..best thing to do i think,when it's up and running again..DoOMlords easy rooting kit worked fine for me.No problem getting it to work and you've got more options to fix any problem..good luck to the poster anyway xx

I don't really think that he rooted his phone ever before, so I don't think that he needs root now... but if he wants to try it out, CF-root or DoOMlords rooting kit are the right choises.

[Q] Backup my phone with screenlock (forgot my pin)

Hi,
My exwife have changed my lockscreen pin on my phone (Note 7000) for fun! Now i have to do a factory reset en now i will lose all my phone numbers and everything else. I can not use te app bypass lockscreen because all the internet connections are down to. My phone is not rooted or annything. Is there away to backup my phone data and adres book.I've i use "Kies" my phone is not reachebale because of the lockscreen. Forgive me for my poor english but i am dutch.

may be that is the only solution. but then before factory reset, read threads on factory reset. by the way, you may wait for sometime, some other expert member may give his advice.

You may be able to backup via adb, but someone else will have to verify that.

Your problem is quite strange like my seniors, me too not sure, but if you wanna try, hold "Volume Up"+"Home"+"Power" key to enter Recovery mode and if ur CWM allows, you can create a Nandroid backup of everything. Could have been lot easier, if you had a rooted phone though. Always keep flashable zips of gaining partial root in your SD to avoid many such situations.

Install this from market web version(by login with same a/c)

it will disable password till next boot, then take backup

lg optimus black stuck on the screen of "s/w upgrade"

hey people,
i was upgrading my lg optimus black v20c to v20d with official LGMobile. everything was gone perfect. i saw my phone's screen turned to "s/w upgrade please wait while upgrading..." However after that my pc is stucked. So, i reset my computer. Then, the phone stucked on the "s/w upgrade" screen. I cant close my phone with the power button. After ejecting the battery and pushing the power button the phone is openning with same screen " s/w upgrade".
What should i do right now? please help me guys.

I tried to connect it with the pc and start lg update again, however, LG mobile says "The Cell phone is the latest version already. So you don't need to update." the phone's screen is still showing "s/w upgrade". :/

Remove battery. Put it back in. Use my video tutorial on how to root any software version.

Factory reset now won't boot up (HELP!!)

Hi guys,
I'm in a bit of trouble...! I bought a Samsung Galaxy S i9000 from someone recently who'd rooted it and it's currently running Jelly Bean with Apex Launcher. I had a bit of a fiddle with my email settings (hotmail), and then my emails crashed. This then turned into Apex Launcher crashing every 2 seconds rendering it impossible to use the phone and every app I opened (including messages) crashed constantly. I did a couple of soft reboots which didn't help. I then tried doing a factory reset on it but now it won't boot up so I'm not really sure what to do next?!
Any help would be MASSIVELY appreciated as I'm completely new to all this so I have no idea what to do! !!

Try to enter recovery mode - hold buttons - volume up+home+power - when the first screen release buttons.
From menu select - wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition and advanced/wipe dalvik cache.
Then back and reboot system now.

Hi, thanks!!.. but tried all that in that order and still won't boot, just gets stuck on the last screen before the home screen

I thought that's what I might have to do but I am so new to this that I don't know what that means or even how to go about doing that...?! I've tried searching for how to do it but because I don't really know what anything means I don't know what to search for or if I'm looking at the right thing! :/ sorry I know you guys hate re-answering questions but it's all gobbledegook to me :/

I think you must Flash Firmware and kernels using Odin. Read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7152078&postcount=2 and make all step by step.

Just go threw it...download the files and follow the instructions.there is also a video guide.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1804032

Thanks guys!! The person who I bought it from left the ROM on the SD card so I did it from that... although there were 2 so I picked one and it does work so I hope I did the right one! Thanks for being patient and helping me out :good:

As above the phone turns on now and everything seems to be working fine, but just tried to add my hotmail email account to the email app and it still crashes? It doesn't make everything else crash like it did before but it won't sync to my email account & crashes out every time I try to add it...?

sign up for gmail and try to add them. Check whether a problem with the rom or with hotmail account

Good idea - thanks.
Just added my gmail account (I have one but never use it) and it seems fine, doesn't crash, and has set up and synced with no issues.
So I take it this implies that it's my hotmail account that's causing the issue?

I think the problem with the setup of your hotmail account. I started a hotmail account and added it without a problem

I've had the phone for about a week set up with my hotmail account with no issues, and now it won't add it. I just go to email, add account and type my email address & password in... is there another way I should be doing it? Occasionally it still crashes with other apps but that's only happened with a battery widget I downloaded and uninstalled again because it crashed and I didn't like it... so I'm scared to download anything else now!

re-install the email apps will help.
--Un-install you current Email apps and download from play staore again.

I can't uninstall it I only have a force stop or disable option :/

OK so I've disabled the current email app and now I can't find it anywhere... is this normal? Can anyone recommend a good email app to re-download as I can't find the same one I was using? I'd prefer it if it was one that was linked to my actual hotmail so that when I read/moved emails it did it on my hotmail account too. It was never like it on my HTC!

[Q] Need Help ! got bootloop after pattern lock

i have installed aeon's mod (can't reset factory) and also some frameworks... after that some settings features not working... yesterday i wanted to set pattern lock and when i set it immediately i got bootloop... please anyone tell me what to do? i think i need settings or framework (to flash in
CWM) that deletes that pattern that i used... please give advice...
