Got my Xperia V today. - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Since there are no forum for V yet and T is the closes thing I post this here. Mods are free to move it if they don't want this post here.
Just got my Xperia V a couple of hours ago and for the short time I've tries it I must say that I like what I got.
It's fast, great screen, feels light and fits my hands perfectly since i have quite big hands. But ppl with small hands might think it's a little big.
The only thing I miss from my old P is the camera button but I can live with that. Will report more later on when I've had the chance to go over it a bit more since 5h isnt enough to give a good review.

Wrong place. The V is not the in the same branch as the T, TX and TL.
If xda do not have a V forum yet, write a PM to a MOD and ask for one.

Nice. It should be a nice phone as well? Do you mind sharing some pics if you can take even better if they are against another phone that we know.
Appreciate it very much.

Hi
Can you dump the system file for us to study?
Just use "adb pull /system".
thx

Btw, where did you get this from? Price?
I was under the impression that Sony delayed the release so they could sort out Jelly Bean.
Thanks!

Only on the markets with delayed rls. In Sweden and other markets where it will be released soon it will run ICS first and then get JB when its time for release on the other markets that dont get it now.

It's fast, good bulid quality, great screen, fits good in my hands, all in all a really good phone. It's a little bit to soon to say something about batterylife but it looks quite good for the time being.
I've not used the camera that much so cant say to much about overall performance of it but Sony normally makes good cameras so I think this one will shot some nice pics aswell.

Nice one, does anyone know how to port the notification toggles from the V to the Xperia T? I've been waiting to do this. They look really good, i believe bravia engine 2 is already ported.

I threw it in Sony's face today...hope i get it back soon.....!! till then i have to manage wirh a Lumia 710!!
What a weird coincidence I have just switched from an 710
To the point
My device does sometimes get a bit hot especially if more than a few wireless connectivity options are on.
This usually results in apps not running properly
If anyone else is having this problem
Accses what they will check first which is the sony factory service menu which can be accessed by putting *#*#7378423#*#* into the dial on the call app. Once in go to service test and go to test battery health this will indicate if there is a fault with the battery
And other options can indicate hardware faults that may cause this.
Other than that it sounds like Sony have had a miss on yours instead of a hit so yeh give it back
Hope this helped

Hope i get a Solution!! Living off a Lumia 710 again now....thank god i didnt sell it or something! :good:

Your unit may be defective. But if you think you're going to avoid the heating problem with a Nexus 4... mate, I think you are wrong. The Nexus 4 has a well-known problem among users called "throttle" that our Xperia SP doesn't have (at least not mine)
Done!

Hahaha, you're correct.
That is the NFC antenna he removed.
Anyway, back on topic...
If you want your phone to stay cool, you will need to flash a different kernel and ROM.
Only then are you able to tweak your phone so it doesn't overheat again.
Downside is that you lost your warranty. Ah well, if it's broken, buy another phone.
Another thing, "extended warranty" is a joke. Never trust sales people that tell you to buy this extra package.
They will look for any excuse not to pay you if something bad happens to your phone.

Is your phone too big guys (Be honest)

Hey guys I'm about for a buying new phone!
Only I just can't decide whether I should take Z(probably ZL) or Xperia T.
Of course Z(L) is better but I just wanted to ask is it a too big phone for you.
(I currently have only 3.5inch Xperia Miro)

Z is big. But you get used to it. I have no troubles handling it.
T feels chunkier.
Thanks but no not that...I have no troubles handling 10.1inch tablet xD
Does Z fit in your pocket? Can you take it every day to school or so... Can you take it when you go for a walk?
PS: I don't take purse or something with me.

I mean is not that big to carry a separate bag with you.
I always wear jeans, slim fit jeans, and chinos. Never had trouble fitting my phone in my left side pocket. It doesn't bother when walking.
Yup, I usually take my phone in my back pocket. And wear jeans.
I think I am even going for the smaller ZL or T.
Official Sony site:
ZL - 131.6 x 69.3 x 9.8 mm
T - 129.4 x 67.3 x 9.35-10.45 mm
Wow not so big difference. I suppose the bezel can't be too small, right?

That's why I said the T feels chunkier. Even though is almost half inch smaller, it has quite a footprint. And I don't like the design of the T at all. I've had had all the flagships since the X10, but I skipped the T.

Good advice! Now I see that T is just a 2mm shorter and slimmer.
If I have money I will go with ZL thank you.

Actually I saw T in the store and one of my friends have it. I like T. Really good phone to me. Like even the design. But I agree if you already have S why upgrade.
I saw also Z, but I never saw ZL. That's why I am asking. And it is hard to see from the store (Z) thought I would ask somebody here who already has it.
I really don't understand people, I came from the Galaxy Note N7000, which is bigger then the Xperia Z and even that fit without too many problems in my jeans pocket. People are to scared of the size when they see it, but once you've tried it you'll see that it's not that bad at all. Since the Galaxy Note fit in my jeans pocket without to many problems I won't even have to answer whether the XZ is to big or not.

Its perfect size tbh and I was coming from a 4s The size really isn't that big once you start using it you would start to think how did you live with such a small screen beforehand. It fits perfectly fine in my pocket so no problems here

After saying for a long time that 5" is too big for a "mobile" Phone and selling my Arc so I could buy the Ray because I craved the compactness, I was going to wait to see what else Sony could come up with in terms of compact power and size (still hoping for a "Mini Z"), but the Z is just so beautiful I had to get one. For the first week of use I contemplated sending it back, the difference between the Ray and the Z in the hand should be obvious to anyone, but I'm so glad I've stuck with it because now the transition period is over it now feels normal to hold and use.
5" is the absolute cut off for a mobile Phone though, anything bigger is in Tablet realms.
Bro dont worry you will adapt when i used to have galaxy spica 3.2" screen i bought xperia arc 4.2" phone it was too huge then i got htc one x 4.7" again was feeling uncomfortable then i bought note 2 which too felt uncomfortable intially but after one week they felt as if they are just perfect and z due to its design is second best device i ever used 1st always the one X due to its feel and sleeky design. Now when i hold one x i feel like i have a baby phone lol so just take it out of your mind and go forit initially it will take time but it will grow on you

I did not have any of your problems. Battery more then 2 days with wifi and mobile data always on. Rooting takes round about 15 minutes, no ram issues, everything is ok. Following all steps carefully of any guide and you will not run into any problems. If there are any questions, ask and someone will surely help you.
Lol thanks for answering but read the Q&A forum it's full of 4.3 bugs, and the low battery and ram issue was reported by tons of people.
Plus if your device can hold for two days thats great, I finish my battery every day andbthe difference between 4.3 and 4.2.2 is noticable. I used to get 60 min of screen time on 10% battery on 4.2.2 I now berely get 30-40 minutes in 4.3 i've tried stock, monx, RomAur and now IHackers for a week and a half... It's a global problem. Unrelated to how I flashed...

RUBBISH!
My battery lasts all day with no problems and I am a very heavy user!
Rooting took less than ten minutes to flash Doomlords kernel and flash a SU
RAM seems fine, the phone is plenty fast enough, it NEVER hangs or lags.
Stop finding things for the sake of it...
@shteren Probably you have to wipe your phone well and repeat the procedure of updating to 4.3. Sometime happens that it not working at it should. I will considering to try NCB FTF Unbranded.
first of all all of you go read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2595376 this is a serious problem with 4.3 confirmed by @MohammadAG.
for some fw it affects the phone less while others get it more seriously, you just need to find the right one... it was fine for me on iHackers V2.0, but ****ed up again on V2.1, after i had it on both stock and monx....

please read what people write... i never said it don't last through the day, it certainly does, but it used to be better with 4.2.2....
and doomlord requires UL bootloader, not everyone have that privilege, stop saying crap unrelated to the topic, getting full root on 4.3 was impossible for BL untill NUT's fix a few days ago. and yeah, the phone does lag and stop, for a lot of people on 4.3... some fws are less affected. see the link

and some other users complained about it aswell. perhaps the battery backup stats are desplayed incorrectly, but yet again thats 4.3 problem...

When I flash new ROM, I always delete battery stats file to "restore battery".
Just install battery calibration and use that app.
Don't know mate, I'm totally satisfied with 4.3, if you're not - just downgrade...
We arw not all same and we do not have same devices, battery or screen (tnx Sony for that )

I apologise if I've offended you, it wasn't my intention, moment of annoyance that's all. I'm not denying there is an issue, but I don't know anyone (personally) who has a problem that hasn't been solved by a factory reset.
I use a rebooter (can't remember which one) to restart the phone every morning at 3am, it could be worth a shot. It clears caches and such. It gains me so much more battery life on my old Blackberry and speeds it up no end.
i downgraded the first day 4.3 was ready for my phone. 4.3 sucks to many bugs, guy dont be botherd about peeps slamming your post .some peeps have nothing better to do so they troll, so relax it just how some peeps are,but you are right to downgrade i think that was my best choice, regards joe,
What are the Bugs in 4.3? I use an Stock and non rooted Phone and I get a lifetime nearly 1 Day on heavy usage. But after an Upgrade to 4.3 you must do an Reset

The bug happened to some Nexus 10 users, so I'd blame Google for that.
A clean start has not fixed the leak for me.

Wiping battery stats (history in fact) has been confirmed by Google to do nothing, it wipes Android's history, it does not recalibrate or anything of that kind.

No LOLLIPOP on Xperia Z

Hello frnds...
Sony says that it gives Lollipop to Xperia z users... In 2015.
But the next version (Lollipop) which is previously mentioned in sony website has been removed Now....
So that may be a sign that we cannot get Lollipop update...
What are your views???

Sony's support of xperia Z has been great despite them releasing a new product every 6 months. I won't be surprised if the company takes a decision not to invest in getting lollipop to an almost 2 year old device.

It's sad to hear that you are using a Galaxy Y now because of your current condition. How are you and your mom now? I wish I could donate you some money for your great works you have done but unfortunately I'm still a 17-year-old student without having a credit card and even finance support for myself.

I contacted with Sony in my country, they say that there is gonna be update to 5.0 this year, probably after July(after, not in July, and that guy wasn't sure about it so maybe earlier... ).
Just because site is changing sometimes(bug or something) it doesnt mean anything :]
Beside even if im not fan of Lolipop(this system suck in few ways, but its not topic about my opinion) I dont see why Sony would change their mind about that update, so chill out, and check few sources before you start panic.

Before some months sony promised that they will update kitkat 4.4 to Xperia SP. In their site also they mentioned like this.. Even they announced officially.. But after two months they again officially announced that SP won't get Kitkat.. What about this?
As far as I know, the status of the KitKat update for the SP was always "under investigation". I don't think they ever actually promised it.
I could be wrong though, as I don't follow software updates for devices I don't own and I only know what I read on news sites.

Yeah, we'll just have to wait and see.
In any case, the Z has received great support. Not many other devices get updates to 3 major versions. We went 4.1 -> 4.2 -> 4.3 -> 4.4 with a lot of bug fix releases as well. The device is now almost 2 years old, so I wouldn't be too disappointed if they decided support was over.

The comparison is not exactly valid. You're comparing a smaller 4.6" screen with HD resolution only (Z3C) with a 5.0" Full-HD (X Perf.).
Think it's more realistic to compare it to the Z2, Z3, Z3+ and Z5...

Thanks for the review...
I have a few things.. The phone going to 3g is normal, in Denmark when making a call to a number from another provider it goes to 3g but when making call to one using same provider it uses 4g for HDVOICE.
LTE is the same as 4G even though it is not 4g but that is another story. It is the same...so no big deal there.
I will await my phone and I look forward to it, my old z3 is in bad shape ?
Thanks again and have a great weekend ?

HellRoot,
Sure thing man!
Well here a phone w/o VoLTE should stay in 4G at least, but I guess if the one is not FROM (or locked) a carrier, it's not gonna get 4G. I just found out what I'm getting during a call is that it's switching back & forth between 3G and H+, or 3.5G. Some real BS eh? lol
Yeah NOT during a call my int'l XP shows LTE, which I know now is the same as 4G LTE. But it's DURING a call that is what I'm concerned with. Apparently there's more to it than just the VoLTE-certification, b/c my phone is no different than the T-Mo Z1s (which again does NOT have VoLTE either) EXCEPT that it's unlocked and int'l.
Yeah I had the Z3 too and I LOVED it!! Got the S7 but it just wasn't the same. lol Tried the HTC 10 too but still.........to me, Sony is still the best. The Z3 had better battery life than the XP does though, so make sure to get that 360 Hibernation Master app (full paid version!) too. See my review for all the details. Also a QC 2.0 or esp 3.0 charger will help deal with that too.
YW. You too buddy!!

Lte is 4g, it is exactly the same as lte4g or whatever you want to call it. The shown symbol or name is down to region of firmware only.

This phone is finally a fine replacement for my z3c. The z5c has been a huge disappointment, horrible battery life, average camera, constant resets or firmware reinstalls.
First off, it's ridiculous that the contacts app force closes. Not sure how that doesn't get caught in beta. Aside from that the phone stays cool, is fast, takes amazing photos, and is eminently stable.

Hey Bialynia,
Yeah I really love it too! I wish it had a bigger battery like my Z3 did, but it's still pretty good, esp when using the 360 Hibernation Master app with it. Works like Stamina Mode but better.
Yeah I think it's ridiculous too. I started a thread on here a few days ago about it. MGS seems to have found a fix, but it didn't work for me, though it might for you? Take a look at the thread here. Let me know if it works for you or not (if you try it)!
I agree on all points....... the camera is definitely better than the HTC 10's and even my now former Galaxy S7's! More detailed than the 10, and more color accurate (and not oversaturated) than the S7's. It runs and loads up apps much quicker than the S7 did, and that had an extra GB of RAM on it! The speakers sound much better than the S7's super awful lone speaker, it doesn't skip while playing music through MicroUSB port with headphones like the S7 constantly did, looks really premium too, etc. I have absolutely no regrets about buying it this phone.
I'm hoping to have an unlocked US version of the X performance possibly late this week and will post thoughts.
lindseybp,
Nice. Despite Sony Mobile not advertising it for the US XP, many people are claiming that the US XP WILL in fact be IP65/68 compliant. It'd be nice if someone (not saying you lol) could test that. Others on here say sometime soon (if not already) someone will develop a flash for the US XP that will actually activate the fingerprint sensor. You may want to ask around on here about that if you want to use it. They say it won't require root or even unlocking of the bootloader, which is extra nice. lol

Yeah it would. lol So far I've been told you need something called Flashtool (bookmark that link and download now) and then the FTF file (int'l individual firmware file which will just activate the fingerprint sensor, vs the full int'l firmware file which will change everything, but you may not want that.) It's nice b/c unlocking the bootloader on an Xperia phone has been known to permanently mess up the camera, but this doesn't require that or again rooting either. I'd also check through these threads with the word "firmware" being the search term used for the XP. Or just start your own requesting that FTF file.
Haha again, I WASN'T implying you should test that, but someone. I'm sure someone on YouTube will soon enough too, so I'd keep checking there.

I started having other issues with XP this weekend. It randomly restarted like twice on its own, and now after doing another factory reset, I'm noticing that during calls where I have Speakerphone off the screen is STILL not turning off. So returning it for a new one, and am hoping I'll have the same luck MGS did with everything including the Contacts app. lol
