I installed the Rocketdial app on my phone because I can't stand the dialer on the SG3. After installing it I found that the native dialer was conflicting with Rocketdial. I looked all over my phone for ways to disable the dialer and lucky me, I completely disabled it....now I don't have the native dialer app at all! I can see it in "Application Manager" under the "All" tab but it isn't in my app drawer any more. I uninstalled Rocketdial but reinstalled it because that's the only way I can make calls but I can no longer find the native contacts app either. Because I can't access the native contacts app...I cannot edit contacts through the reinstalled Rocketdial. Please help! I really don't want to restore many phone because it took days to get it the way I like it. Thanks
RocketDial is not conflicting with stock dialer, it uses some features of stock dialer ... I guess you need the phone application back to your phone .

ever since i started using Hancent SMS, my Default Messaging app doesnt show threads/messages, even when i compose one from the Messaging app, how do i fix this?
stop using hancent sms! Nah... I'm just kidding.
Check with developer (you should be able to get en email either from the app itself or from the market). It could be a known bug or an undocumented feature of the app.
Good luck
im still having this problem. When i open handcent SMS i have like 50 threads of messages, but when i open default Messaging, it doesnt show any, just Compose New Message.....whats goin on?

Just out of curiousity....
Handcent is a default sms/mms replacement application, so why the love affair with the default app? I'm thinking its probably meant to use one or the other, not both. Perhaps once Handcent is installed, it routes everything in the mmssms.db file over to its directory and when its uninstalled it reverts back. Just a thought, of course, it doesn't really help you.
i wanted to start using it since Ted themed it to look more like Hero MMS, i use backuo for root users, so i backed up SMS/MMS and uninstalled Handcent, and then restored SMS.MMS but still wouldnt show up in MMS app

Did you reboot after the restore? You could also try pushing the backed up mmssms.db file from the backup for root users folder directly to the default messaging app's database folder, reboot and see if that works. The default messaging app folder is located here:
Code:
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases
i tried that and still nothing, also when i unistalled Handcent, i went into Messaging and tried to send message to myself, and never recieved it, same when i sent myself message from friends phone, somethings not right
I switched to dialer one a while back, and set it to be my default dialer. But now I can't find the default one, even tried to uninstall dialer one, but i still can't access it
Anyone know how to restore it?
that's weird, you really don't see any "Phone" or "Dialer" in app drawer?
Look at Manage Applications menu if you can find it.
Try restore "factory settings"
I am on CM7 on my Milestone and have the SMS/launcher apps locked in memory (although I uninstalled the stock sms to just use handcent) and I am sick of missing messages to the point I have got in trouble because of missing messages.
What else can I do to stop this problem?
Just today I tried texting myself a number (quick way to get info to the phone and never even got the message.
I have been in the application settings and watched it randomly restart which I believe would miss any messages at that time. Since I heard before when either the SMS app or Laucher is loading that any messages will be lost.
Try using the default messaging apk inside CM7 Milestone. As Handcent uses much more RAM compared to the default one. Also, try minimizing widgets on your homescreen, and other apps that constantly run in the background (i.e. antivirus, CPU/RAM/system monitors, social networking apps, etc.)
I will think about trying the stock again but I remember it as being pretty basic.
I have no widgets at all and Facebook sync turned off only other app I know that runs in the background is my voice caller id, which I can't live without.
Hi, first of all thanks for the help you could bring me. My problem is that since yesterday night I'm not receiving any kind of sms or mms on my stock messaging app. Today I was trying to solve it but with no success. So I installed Go SMS Pro and to my surprise it worked, I started receiving SMS and mms, but still the stock messaging app is not alerting of upcoming sms even though it's receiving them (I think that they share a common folder and that's why if in go SMS pro it works it'll show on stock messaging app, so in theory stock is not receiving but just showing, am I right?).
For now I'm using SMS go pro, but I'd like to know why this happened. I read something about accessing a hidden testing menu (*#*#4636#*#*) to change the smsc but that menu is not available on my phone (any idea why?) tried the code above and tried using those apps that serve as a shortcut. The screen goes dark as it's trying to access the testing menu and returns to home screen, in other apps (like missing shortcuts) it shows as unavailable. I even edited the hiddenmenu file on efs/carrier from OFF to ON and still the testing menu doesn't appear. I'm using my phone right now with mobile data, wifi works well and so do phone calls, no problems at all.
I'd really appreciate any ideas that could help me. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 running 4.3 firmware, I updated from 4.1.2 a couple of days ago but didn't have any problems, I could receive sms normally. The problem happened suddenly yesterday night.

there is an option in Messaging app...Auto Retrieve - check if enabled....
if other app work with no problem it's just an app related problem..not something else...check in app setting maybe something is not enabled...
a factory reset would make it work for sure....but is too much...

Thanks for the answer. Yeah, I don't want to factory reset since I've just did it to upgrade to 4.3. About the app settings, I've just tried all the possible combinations. I'm just using GO SMS Pro for now but MMS aren't downloading. Sigh.

try this: go to Settings->More->Application Manager-> Select "All" tab -> select Messaging-> Clear data + Clear cache...
Hey guys i need some help. I've got a bootloader unlocked(30.B7) rooted, stock 4.4.4 Moto X and I'm having the hardest time trying to figure out why I cant send text messages but im somehow able to receive them. I can get sms and mms but cannot send. I've tried using different text message apps and none can send. I've tried factory resetting and that didn't help either. Anyone have a clue?

It's possible your message center (SMSC) number setting has been changed or reset somehow (maybe if you recently swapped sim cards or something). Try resetting it by following the guide in the link below (disregard the CyanogenMod branding, it's the same for stock ROM).
if you can't use *#*#4636#*#* then either make an activity shortcut to Phone Info or use one of the dedicated apps in the play store, like Radio Switcher (the apps don't do anything but open Phone Info menu).

OK so i gave this a try and had no luck with the getting my carriers SMSC. I also found on one site that deleting my stock sms app may be the problem? sounds kinda lame since I've done that on other rooms but on other phones. Could that be it?
Yes, if you re-install the stock messaging app it will work.
I've tried different 'stock' sms apps form the play store with no luck still.
By 'stock' sms app I mean the system app 'Messenger" that came with the phone that you uninstalled. You will have to search around to find it since it is not in Play. Next time just disable a system app, do not uninstall it. That way if it breaks something you can re-enable it.
OK so I found the stock sms app and installed it, still a no go. I even tried converting it to a system app using Titanium backup. I've found that in that app and also Hangouts when I enter a thread the app FC's. I don't know what else it could be

Did you set the stock SMS app to the correct permissions? Probably time to flash the system.
