I really like the look of the new jb leaks, particularly the app icons ... but I'm not happy with the performance. Definitely slower than say CM10, at least when it comes to gaming.
I'd like to use the app icons from the new leaks with CM10, but I'm not sure how ...
Is it possible?
Open the rom with 7zip. Navigate to system then apps, look for the app with the icon (launcher / systemui etc)
Extract it (with 7 zip) look for draw able hdpi and inside u will find the icons. Copy them somewhere on your computer and then transfer that folder to your sd card.
Download desktop visualiser free from play store and find the icons then replace them with your current icons.

Thanks given!
Do you mean look for the specific app with the icon I want to copy? Or do you mean that a bunch of icons are stored in the launcher/systemui apps?
You will have to manually hunt down the icons you want. Each app has its own icons, not all icons in one app.
Which icons do you want? I or someone else might know which app they will be hidden in.

Thank you for the clear icon!!!
I am currently using the free version of Folder Organizer. I haven't found a way in the free version to have icons on the home page without have titles display. I'd like to be able to have a nearly blank home page with hidden folders. Does anyone know if the full version supports untitled folder displays? Or, is there a folder app/launcher that allows icon only folders?

SiMi folder allows icons only. It's available in the market and it's free.
Works great! Thank you! The only thing I'd like to see in simi is the option to direct edit they folders without opening the app. Does anyone know if that's an option with adw ex?
**Edit**Sorry, dbl post.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894005 Thread for the app. Good place to look for any answer's.
Ive been messing with roms and boot ani's so much I've forgotten the app devs are on here too. LOL
Ok, so I wanted a better email app than the stock MIUI one, and everyone keeps recommending K9 mail. Thing is, I hate the app icon for it. I worked out that I should be able to use Desktop Visualizer to create a shortcut on the desktop which points to K9, but uses another icon.
Thing is I can create a widget using DV (Long press on screen, select DVwidget etc), however I can't place widgets in the launcher bar. I tried opening the DV app and trying to create a shortcut that way, but when I hit 'Ok' to complete the operation, nothing happens. It just returns to the homescreen and no shortcut is created.
To further complicate things I have had this work once. It just randomly appeared on the desktop a few minutes after creating it, and I was able to move that into the launcher. Now I want to change the icon (again) but as you can see, I'm not having much luck.
Am I missing something here? I know MIUI doesn't have shortcuts on it's desktop, but if that was the case I don't see how I could have got it to work at all?
Any thoughts?

Yeah, i'm thinking how an app icon can invoke such a strong emotion as hate for it. Could we get a screenshot? Share the hate
I do agree that the icon is kinda ugly .
That is a terrible icon ...

What i would suggest (this is what i used to do while using MIUI), is to use an application called "App Drawer" meant specially for MIUI.
Link t=1154299http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154299
it is only as it states, an app drawer like all regular android phones.
This way you will have a dedicated app drawer & this will help in not cluttering up your home screens.
All icons on your home screen can be inserted into a single folder as these are the actual apps & not shortcuts.
Deleting would mean uninstalling.
so use the app drawer, send the shortcuts to your home screen & use any app for changing the icon like the ones inbuilt in ADW, Nova launchers.
...or you could just swap out the k9 icon for one you like. Use a theme (or make a blank one if you're fond of default) and theme the app name icon with a mail icon (or any icon) you think is nice
theme mtz - icons folder - use a .png and name it com.fsck.k9.apk
(if that doesn't work, the real app name is com.fsck.k9-1.apk)

Awesome siggy
Has anyone figured out a way to edit APP icons without manually going through and editing the actual .APK?
It seems that would be the "simplest" route to allowing us all to put custom icons for apps on the dock bar... because then we could just use the built in method for customizing the dock, and BAM.

Desktop VisualizeR will give you what you want.
I've got desktop Visualizer, but can't figure out how to use it toput icons in the dock bar. Had assumed it pnly worked for widgets on desktop.

Is there any way to change the icons on the dock? I use the Icon Changer app to change icons, but it can't put them on the dock. Anyone know of an app that can, or perhaps another easy way to do this?
Thanks!

I checked out the desktop visualizer app, and I like it. Thanks for the tip. It's a bit more refined than Icon Changer (that I was using).
The problem is, like Icon Changer, it creates the app on the homescreen... and I can't find any way to get those shortcuts onto the dock. I can only get shortcuts from the drawer to the dock. Am I missing something?
Try Unicon in the play store, it uses nova icon packs and themes the entire phone. Here is my lock screen

Nice app... but from what I can see it will only theme an entire icon pack. I just want to change one icon on the dock.
I'm assuming you're using the stock launcher? You could edit the application yourself but that's a hassle. Idk how else to help except to use a 3rd party launcher

Open up com.htc.resources.apk in /system/framework with winrar/7zip. Don't extract it, just open it.
Find the icon you want to change in the apk and re name the icon you're going to replace it with to whatever the name is in the apk.
Now once you drop your new icon in, you can try pushing the apk back using adb but I would recommend flashing it. I've always had problems with pushing edited framework files to the device. It usually causes tons of force closes.
Hope that helps a little. Pm me If need be.

Thanks for the info. I had a feeling a might have to get in there and change it manually. I'm going to take a look at it and see if I can do it.

I am using a HTC One M8 running CM14.1, rooted and S-OFF.
I designed my own app icons that I want to use for my apps. I have them in png files exactly the same resolution as the files I extracted from the original APKs. I have tried doing some research how to set my images as the icons for my apps, but every Google search just points you at gimmicky free apps for non-rooted devices that just create shortcuts on the home screen. I actually want to change the app icon system-wide, so that my icons will show up in the app drawer with my icons too.
Does anyone know how I should go about doing this? I am not opposed to a significant time investment. Thanks in advance for any advice.
