"Disable full screen" unchecked so the status bar is hidden in kindle reading mode, however, when I bring up the book info interface the status bar also comes up and the display is broken.

I think its a kindle bug but just want to know if CM7.2 or CM9 happens to have better result? or any fix for that?
Thanks!

CM 7.2 RC1 works the same way. And it's not just the latest version of Kindle that does that. Earlier versions did that as well. You need to check the box and then you can manually dismiss the status bar to get it out of your way.

Same here in 7.2rc1.
Update: got it fixed by modifying kindle apk.
I noticed that the corruption occured only on white mode so I changed the background color of white mode, which was defined in res/values/colors.xml, to light cyan and it worked. I believe any other color might also do the trick.
Hello! This is my first post on this forum, so please LMK if I have breached any protocol.
I have a rooted Kindle Fire HD running 7.2.2 (I have disabled auto-updates by renaming otacerts) with Nova Launcher and Hololocker. Everything was working beautifully for a month or so, Google market is running great, etc.
It locked up streaming a video yesterday and I restarted the Kindle. When I restarted the Kindle, I had the screen locked in Horizontal mode. Now, when I start my system I cannot get the system tray to appear at the bottom of the screen nor can I get into the options menu at the top of the screen.
What are your thoughts on how to fix this? Some googling indicates that this functionality is controlled by the systemui.apk file. Is there some modification to this file I can do to fix the problem? Should I reinstall Hololocker? Nova Launcher?
Switching back to the Amazon home screen does not fix the problem.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Solved
>>Solved! (that was quick) Disenabling hololocker fixed this. Then I reenabled and it is hunky-dory.
However, if anyone has any good tips or tricks for hacking the systemui file, they sure would be appreciated!

apoth30sis,
The screen lockers sometimes cause the tray and the upper status bar to disappear. We
are looking into a solution. Do not edit the systemui.apk file, the results can be
disastrous. We will post a solution once we have a solid Locker program. So far
everyone has some bugs, so we are designing our own. Thank you for the post, we
will advise once we are ready.
I had similar problem. Somehow, the notification bar is tied into the Google apps you installed for Google Play. To fix this, you must activate your Gmail app on your fire HD. Once it's activated, your notification bar will return. Don't forget to reboot after activating Gmail app.

ameswilliam,
This makes sense since Gmail sends a setup command to the notification bar.
Thank you for the feedback.
Hi,
I used KFirstAide to root a kindle fire HD 7" that I have. I then used it to install the Holo Launcher.
When I boot up the Kindle, it still shows the Amazon lockscreen for about 5 seconds, then it shows the Android/Holo lock screen.
If I unlock the Amazon screen, it'll show the Launcher home screen, but then it'll lock again to the Android/Holo lockscreen so I have to unlock twice really.
I noticed that if I don't unlock the screen after boot before the screen times out, then the nav bar buttons on the bottom will not show up properly. They'll flash on for a second but then disappear, so are unusable.
To fix it, I have to reboot and unlock the device before the screen turns off.
Is this a known issue, and is there a fix?
Thanks.
Same Here! I re rooted after 7.3 and installed holo, and this happened. I didnt know what to do until I saw this as a temporary fix so ty!
Try using First aide and use option fix anomalies and restart, it worked for me

I am not aware of a fix. I tried HOLO after installing CM10 and while using Kinology OS.
The workaround is to open up hololocker and uncheck "enable"
Once, the Holo lock screen is disabled, the Amazon lock screen is the only one in use and the problem is gone.
I have no experience with HOLO other than these two uses but, it seems a HOLO issue unless, HOLO simply does not play well with the Kindle.
I have not tried to disable the Amazon lock screen and keep only the Holo lock screen to see what happens.
I have a Kindle Fire HD 7 running Fire OS 5, rooted. It all seems to be working, but I have one annoying glitch in particular. When using Gravity Box to disable the Navigation Bar and enable Pie Controls, horizontal rotation stops working. It tries, but then fails to lockscreen. I assume this is due to the size of the screen when taking out the nav bar.
Does anyone know how to get horizontal support while hiding the nav bar?
Got a Fire 10 on prime day this week. Came with 5.6.0.1 and last night I rooted using Kingoroot and installed Play Store, etc. Thought I had disabled OTA updates but this morning I saw that it had added the new show mode feature. It will now boot into show mode and will not show the home screen when I use the circle button. If I swipe down from the top I can get to settings and from there I can use the app switcher to get back to Nova Launcher, but every time I try to go back to home screen it goes into show mode. I have rerooted and have tried to use adb to make nova the defualt and disable amazon launcher. Any ideas on how to disable show mode or at least get it to turn off? Thanks.
I have the exact same issue. Did you ever figure it out?
Fixed; for the most part

I installed Launcher Hijacker and that fixed it. It will still go to show mode sonetimes but a second press of the home button will take it to the right launcher.

You can get rid of Show Mode? Try to deregister your Fire tablet and disable the Show Mode's device administrator, go to Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Device administrators -> Show Mode and disable it and try to factory reset.

I found the packages for launching show mode is called Launcher and the package name is com.amazon.paladin, can you disable it:
Code:
//Using ADB on your PC
adb shell
su
pm disable com.amazon.paladin
//OR, using Terminal Emulator app from Google Play
su
pm disable com.amazon.paladin
