[Q] LockScreen application shortcuts missing from LSA - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I've noticed Android 4.1.1 had quick shortcuts to apps in the lockscreen. 4.1.2 doesn't seem to have that. how can I get it back?

post in question thread
And do a search before posting.

go into settings - lock screen - lock screren options and enable it

stock lsa not having such type of settings

lock screen shortcuts were removed from LSA
to get them, check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1983565 or here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2008480

Robbie Hood got a thread in development section. Basically, you'll have to download ROM Customiser and CustomsSettings.apk and put it in your internal sd card. Flash the latter through the former (ROM Customiser) as a system app. Close ROM Customiser and open it again. Go to ROM settings>lockscreen shortcuts.

thank you
thank you all, the 1st method from this thread worked for me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1983565

i have a problem though
hm.. how to i get rid of the tip that shows me all the time how to use those shortcuts?

Titanium backup or app quarantine and freeze Help.apk or you can use ES file explorer. Go to the root >system app and delete Help.apk.

eventually
well i finally managed to fixed it, by flashing Ultimate ROM and flashing a fix it was provided in rom's update application (i flashed the fix twice)

[Ask] Registering apps in the system after ROM upgrade

Hi all,
Firstly, I've tried to search on this with no luck, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed. Please link me to the discussion.
Here's the problem, please help:
1. I have an application installed in the Storage card
2. I link that application in HTCHome launcher.
3. I do ROM upgrade, so HTCHome settings were reset
4. Now, I tried to link that application back to HTCHome launcher, but the apps is no longer in the drop down list of application available to be selected.
So, I ended up having to go to File Explorer and running the application from there. Is there a way to register the application back in the system/OS, so that I can select it from eg. HTCHome launcher, button assignment settings, etc?
I understand I can just re-install the application again to re-register the application in the OS, but I'm too lazy to do it each time I do a ROM upgrade.
thanks in advance
I usually just copy the shortcut and paste it to Windows/Programs/Start Mene/Programs
It should show up now on the HTC Home settings.
thanks prolab, it does work .
never thought it'd be that simple.

[Question]Removing Stock Widget ?

Ok so i installed Cynogens ROM and its good , after words i installed a theme and it had a bunch of apps that i didnt need so i had removed it but then i had checked the widgets and it contains some widgets i do not need. So the problem here is i had read something about not being able to remove stock apps/widgets but i was able to remove stock app with Terminal so is there any code for Terminal to remove widgets ?
Didnt see any "Apps Question/Answer" thread so i made my own thread. Thnx in advance , and for those of you who like to get many post by saying "-link-Search button-link-" your out of luck , yes i used the system search.

Deleted Launcher

I accidentally Deleted my Launcher app using titanium backup. Is there anyway to reinstall the launcher? I really don't want to have to reflash the whole rom. I'm just using a rooted stock rom.
i suspect you just need to push the launcher.apk to the appropriate destination. search around for instructions on how to do it, and a copy of the file itself
you can download helix launcher from the market. great launcher I use it all the time. I prefer it to the stock launcher anyways.
You can also just reflash the rom your using again, it wont delete any apps or anything and it will relace the stock files.
you'll need to find the Launcher2.apk from the Rom you use. just extract the Rom and search the extracted folder: /system/app . once you find the apk file, you'll need to push it to /system/app on your phone via adb or the Su file manager (available in market)
I did the same thing...
I have a Milestone 3 (Brazilian Droid 3) and after installing a new home screen, i deleted the standard motoblur home screen (not without a backup of course). I didn't know that a factory reset don't reinstall the standard programs of Motoblur, so now i have a handset without launcher.
I can't access by ADB, due the factory reset deleted my predefined configurations and I can't access the market to download a launcher.
The only thing I have is the lock screen, the notification bar and a black screen below the bar. When i plug the USB i have the options to access the Motorola Phone Portal, USB, Windows Media Link and Charge only.
I tried to find the base rom to reinstall, but i couldn't find. Tried to find a shortcut to use by the keyboard, and got the same result.
I'll keep trying to find a way, and if anyone could help us i'll be glad.
Thanks
I would have hoped that the OP has managed to get his phone working after a year and a half.
Have you tried using the desktop android market to push a launcher to your phone?

[HELP] Deleted gallery and camera - no backup

Hello,
somehow i maganed to deleted stock camera and gallery aplications (by Titanum Backup), unfortunetly i don't have any backups avalible so i can't undone this. I have installed new camera from Nexus - but it's missing some functions i need. Now i am unable to set a lock screen wallpaper, and can't even have good quality wallpaper (new gallery aplication is unable to crop images or make sliding wallpaper).
Can anyone tell me if i can install the old one camera and gallery application? Is anyone able to upload them from their device and tell me how to install them? (i belive it's not as simple as .apk files).
Im using Galaxy Note GT-N7000 with 4.1.2 Android (rooted).
Sry for my english, but i really hope someone can help!
what rom are you on right now? you cannot install stock cam and gallery app on a aosp roms
You're on stock rom or custom rom?.. Simply reflash your rom.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk HD
Download and install this.
It should give you the most recent version of the android gallery / camera
Im using stock rom - can I reflash it? Not sure how to do this, and am i going to lose any data by doing this?
Im using now - com.google.android.gallery3d.apk, but it dosen't let me choose custom lock screen wallpaper and has probles with croping images or slinding wallpaperes. That's why i want to use stock galery apk.
Or maybe there is some other way to choose lock screen wallpaper?
When trying now, i can only choose lock screen wallpapers from "wallpapers" catalog, there is no option to choose the image from gallery.

Just download and extract these two apks. Use any root explorer apps and copy this to system/apps folder in root of your directory. Give proper permission 'rw–r–r' and reboot. This should get you back your camera and gallery

[Q] About Customizing Stock ROM

Hello. I am using Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000, N7000ZSLR1, Android 4.1.2 Hong Kong version. There are something I am not quite satisfied with the ROM, I have rooted my device with Chinese one key root app so I wonder if there are some ways to customize the ROM.
1. The first thing is Notification screen. In this Android 4.1.2, when you pull it down, the shortcuts at the top will first display the tiles in picture 1, then it will automatically swipe to picture 2:
Picture 1:
Picture 2:
Is there any method that can modify / remove tiles at the top? Or at least make it like picture 2 in default when I pull down, no swiping.
2. In this ROM, the Task Manager no longer display in app drawer like Android 2.3.6, instead I need to long press Home button to go to "Recent App" screen and tap the pie chart icon at the lower left corner to open Task Manager. I'm curious, the system app is in \system\app, and it IS an .apk. So I wonder if I can at least make a shortcut from it and add to "Home Screen", I always need to use it and I don't want to download third party app for this shortcut.
Recent Apps screen:
View in ES File Explorer:
3. The default Launcher in the stock ROM is TouchWizHome, and by default there are no indication when you tap an icon to open the app. So I wonder if I can add some "effect" to notify me when I open an app, like dim the icon or glow at the edge of icon.
4. If you are a Titanium Backup user, please tell me that should I wipe system apps' data first before uninstall it. Because it always gives me a feeling of "unclean" if I don't wipe the data before uninstall it. I always uninstall system app to keep my phone slimmer and faster.
Thank you in advance.
first, to change anything with the user interface aka UI your rom must be deodexed, so you need to create a deodexed rom from this rom or look for it in a chinease android forum (defnitely you will find it).
once your rom is deodexed, you can flash one of AryaMod or Sweet rom mods to change the interface, i think most of them will work because of the same framework but make a full backup because they might not work.
if you only need to change the order of quick toggles in the notification panel i think you can do it from settings >> display
or you can make your own mods following one of the awesome guides in this forum but that will take you time and you may face bootloops

How about question 2 and 4?
2/ i think there is a resizable widget of the task manager, all you have to do is place it in your home screen and when you click on it it will open the task manager. i have no idea about how to make the task manager appear in the app drawer but sure there is a way to do it.
4/ yes i always use titanium backup to backup and restore my non-cloud-based apps but not from and to different android version. never restore for example apps that were backed up on jellybean to kitkat or any other android version cuz this will cause force-close and other problems. whenever you are going to install new rom just wipe /preload and /system (/data partition will be wiped automatically when you make wipe data - factory reset) this way you will leave no trace of old system apps data, config, cache or anything.
don't uninstall system apps just freeze them using titanium backup or directly from app settings if you are on ics or above. if you removed an important system app like google contact sync that you may think not important you may get force-close, unmounted storage, ui crash all the time and similar problems.
Hope i helped you

2/ ...Yes you think, but there is not, if it has then I'll place it at home screen from the start... I just want to know how to make that system app have a shortcut icon...
4/ But won't uninstall create more space for my system? I mean frezzing them will still occupy some space right?

It is just a safety procedure. Freeze the app and use your phone for a few days. If nothing funny happens go ahead and uninstall it to reclaim the space.
If you are absolutely sure the particular app you want to uninstall will not be needed anymore just uninstall it without going thru the freeze time.
