Guys, I have one problem: when I try to update my 4X HD by the Software update program, the phone shows up "You are using the latest softaware version in current OS version".
My firmware version is the 10A, and there is a 10C version for my country. What's the problem?
I've not tried to update by kdz files yet.

If you bought the phone at an other country this can happen, else, i would recommend to update via KDZ, but on windows 8 its harder then on all the other windows os's

exactly, you probably updated your phone with brazilian 10a, didnt you? well than this message wont change.
Do what he said. Update it to 10c using kdz because OTA wont work on our 4X anymore unles you use the stock fw that came with it.

Your settings in LG Update Tool (B2CAppSetup) are correct?...
Country and language?...
You tried ("Modo de Emergencia & Modo de recuperação"), inserting IMEI and S/N ?
If it doesn't works, flash with .kdz
Thanks for the answers, but I've bought it here in Brazil and I also didn't update the firmware to 10A. Country and language were OK, and I tried to change too, but doesn't work.
I fixed the problem updating by KDZ files!
Now, I'm with another problem. I've updated to 10F global european version, but my whatsapp doesn't connect. I's a problem of this version? Should I try another firmware?

What should be? I've updated to 10c-Brazil and it worked. After that I updated to 10f.

you should have done a factory reset before update... you can try it now, maybe it works.
Or you can go to the app directory and re-install it.

Did you get the update via LG PC Suite? If yes when was this?
No. Updated manually with smartflash.
there's not OTA update or O2X. you have to do it via pc.
Can someone help to find out what kind of update the one via LG PC Suite is?
I have the ota update option on my o2x and it works fine.

I not to create a new thread, I wanted to ask you about the update.
I have the German version of O2X unlocked and have a software version V10b. I have read that many people who had the reboot/freeze issues after updating the software to the newer version had even more problems.
I haven't experienced any of those on my phone and I was wondering if performing the software update could hurt my phone? I mean if I may start getting these reboots and other issues? or maby if the phone is alright now, then it should also be ok after the update?

I have the unbranded German LG2X as well and had no reboot issues before I have updated and have no issues after the update still.
Since it is an official update, you could have your device changed if any problems should occur after the update.

I did the update through LG PC Suite and that was in late April (I think it was around April 29th).

I had read somewhere that the LG optimus black phone can do gthe software update directly from phone without connecting to the computer or downloading the software on PC and then upgrade. I have the original software version v10a on my mobil eand Iguess there are many updates from LG for this phone directly from LG.
Can someone please guide me on the update if it can be directly done from the phone, if that is not available then please guide me with the steps and location from where I can get the latest software version and also know about the new features/ benefits available with these new software versions.

Yes, optimus black supports ota updates (over the air).
Try to go in settings--->info ... first voice should besoftware update

i looked at difference between vanilla software and branded software ...
the article i read said that i cant update my phone software if my phone has branded software .

That's not necessary true. I bought mine in the United States from Amazon.com, it was unlocked (no brande) and I couldn't find that option also.
Is there any other way to find it? Maybe it depends on the support of LG World application? (Because in Venezuela says that there's not support for this)

Same for me. Purchased an unbranded phone, came with the v10a firmware. Updated via the Pc tools to v10d. Neither had the update icon inside the phone. Manually updated to v10e via the KDZ method, and the icon showed up.

after flashback to my stock rom i cant get partial 7.6mb update
is there anyway that force phone to find update???
I think that you have to upgrade the stock rom manually by using KDZ-Updater. Make sure to backup your data and after upgrading , rest the factory for your mobile and wipe the cache partition >> Enjoy

when you check the http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=XXXXXXXXXX (xxxxxx = your imei), does it tell you have the latest fw?
i 'forced' the update from here
I checked my phone for update via OTA but it didn't show i got an update. That was when i was on V10C but a friend of mine has already got V10E updated.
And sure enough this site has the V10E.

Was your friends 4X from the same countrie/region as your? may be 10e wasnt available for your region/countrie, and may be your phone is from network operator, they allways get updates a little later

I find this strange that some phones does not update via OTA. i think that if it doesnt find update, you should hard reset it, or you will never receive updates.

I should know when there's something major - JB - going on when XDA is sudden alive with that news.. then i'll poke my nose more. otherwise its ok.
When I try to check for updated via OTA it says device not registered yet. Did anyone saw this message ? Where the hell do I need to register?
ps: even that some operators are already selling the p880 here in brazil, the oficial lauch of this phone will be on this wednesday. Could that even possible be related to this error message?
When you manually flash .kdz files, most likely the file is not from your country. The only way to get it back is by using LG software and repair your phone to your country's firmware.

he phone update itself (not via OTA because it didnt worked for me) to the latest firmware by CHECKING YOUR IMEI. It means that if your firmware is EURO for example, and you install Asian firmware for example, it wont update to the latest Asian firmware, but to the latest EURO firmware because it will check your imei, not the firmware you have. =(

Thats normal.
They have somehow a kind of data base where are the produced devices.
To detect the latest firmware based in the installed firmware, they need to have some "tool" to search "inside" of each device. Like that java tool from nVidia to search the last drivers for example...
And if we want official we should leave the phone like it cames from factory, official... If we mess with FW and other stuff we can not expect that official support guesses what we've done or what we want...
Some persons opinion is that the official should give the latest original firmware, in case of need to go back to original. Others, that it should give the latest firmware based on the installed...
Allways someone complains cause its hot, or cause its raining, or because its cold... The perfection to everybody just don't exist

Yeah, i think they should check by checking your FW not IMEI. Thats sad because im nver gona receive the updates I want, only if I go back to stock FW or update via KDZ, but thats not a simple easy task to do all the time.

No. updateing via KDZ is easy, but doing everytime would be like pain in the ass (from 10c to 10d , then 10e etc etc etc), because everytime i would have to do backups and start all over again, since I wouldnt have OTA updates, nor LG Suite updates.

Why the need of all that process?
You can update from V10A straight to V10F...
I thing that LG Suite, once that is configured with european settings, should give you the updates to the european version.
But for now I don't expect updates in a very near future...

yes i know you can go straight to 10f, i just wanted to point that receiving OTA update would be so much easier than to all the KDZ update..

Mine works. Never receive the update though. But it doesn't say Device is not registered yet, instead it tells me that I'm using the latest OS.
I'm using Open Europe v10h, while my stock should be v10e Indonesia.
What I did when flashing the kdz is this: I tried updating the usb driver tool, in that application, I chose United Kingdom as my home country. When it's done updating, I flashed the kdz. The reason I did this is to be able to update to JB on the go, if that thing ever hits O4X.

Dude, I think you're asking in the wrong room, this room is for Optimus 4X HD.
Anyway, assuming our devices run the same, you can always revert back to your original ROM by flashing it manually through KDZ updater or something like that.
The message telling your device isnt registered has got nothing to do with your phone performance, only you wont be able to get OTA update (which you can always manually flash)

Yes there is, you can use ofline flashing tool and with that you can also flash any available KDZ file that is actually compressed image of FW for the phone .
Her you can see FW-s available for your phone, just enter your IMEI number http://lg-firmware-rom.com

Eventually it will show there, my is D410 dual and i have updated it to lollipop.
Also you can check in your phone in update center, settings-about phone. however OTA update will not work if you have root-ed your phone but for upgrading you can still use LGMobile Support Tool with computer.
For your version there still are no any info just that next to get update is D415.

Use LGMobile Support to do upgrade , it will tell that you there is update and then it will do it.
But before you update to Lollipop would someone of you mind help me with something?
The lg software doesn't say anything for my phone. No update. Is there a way to force the update?

I doubt it. i once used a russian samsung rom (official) only difference between dutch or english is that
once you've hard reset your device, the default language was russian. just change it
but if you can, just download your version, better save then sorry
installed update, works fine except for one thing (could be me) usb debugging is turned on but not recognized (used 2 pc's) so no root, custom recovery yet.....
tried a fresh pc, works now, used dp tools for rooting
