Hi All,
I'm looking for a new case, I want it to fit my tight jeans front pocket (now I have the Wrapsol front and back SP on my N2 and the only downside is that the bezel is not protected).
I thought about the Mercury case or some slim bumper.
Any recommendation ?
Thanks
I would get the Boxwave bamboo case, i have it and it's good protection cause it has a lip that protrudes over the edges just enough to most likely protect your screen & scren protector and its like $7 us dollars

Thank you guys for the suggestions, but I'm looking for a real slim case, I know that it will be with the cost of the protection but for that I have the UAG. I looking for a case with the Mercury dimensions~ but maybe with higher quality.
There is no other alternative. The slimmest you can go is skin-like TPU case. It will not offer much of a protection, and I had Mercury before - sorry, but its a slippery, glittery case with hardly any lip protection. The *only* relatively slim case that will offer you a drop protection, and I mean to the point that it will survive occasional drop on a concrete or stone pavers its Tough. There are a lot of other cases that are kind of slim and will offer you a decent drop protection, better than Tough, but nothing I have seen that comes close to slimness of Tough (check out my review link in signature for reviews of all the popular cases and even face off comparison).
The title of your thread is "Slim lightweight case with maximum protection ?". I guess "maximum protection" is a subjective term. I don't think the Mercury case (or any TPU case) or a bumper case offers that. If you want slim + max protection, then I strongly recommend the Speck Candyshell. The Samsung Protective Cover + is also good combo of slim and protection.
I didn't make this video.
Have you seen this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192013
Not sure about the protection as I just ordered mine today, but for $2.25 probably wouldn't hurt to try it out. Looks very, very slim in the pics. I also have the Speck Candyshell, very slim case. My only gripe about is the rubber around the lip is peeling and starting to look funky. It wasn't a cheap case, so I'm a little disappointed in that.

I completely agree. The rubber peeling on my case is minor and purely cosmetic (doesn't affect protection). It compliments all the scratches on the glossy black plastic to give the case a vintage look LOL. I got my case in December 2012.

Mine is in. I would consider the protection minimal, less than the Mercury, because the case is mostly open on both ends. I like the material, and it is slim. However it only offers scratch protection on the back of the case, no real drop protection.
i have to agree with vectron. the other two cases mentioned seem nice, but if you want quality, i would go with the Case-Mate Tough. Like vectron, I have many cases as well including the UAG, Tough, Mercury, Cruzerlite TPU (like the boxwave mentioned), Duzign Valor Slim, Elago Slim cases (black one is just like the $2.25 one mentioned), and the ITSkins Lava. The top 3 for protection in this order and feel are the 1) Casemate Tough (slim/protective) 2) UAG (slightly bulky (but skinnier than the rest of the cases out there like defender and commuter etc) with max protection)) 3) Duzign Valor (this case is only $6 and the feel is a soft matte/rubbery feel that is not slippery at all- the colors are amazing and I already dropped my phone on concrete with it from 4 feet- the case is smart- it has more than enough edge protection to protect the face and it protected my phone from any major damage- however, the downside is the top and bottom like all the slim cases (Elago, Spigen Ultra Thin, $2.25 case, etc) is that the top and bottom are not covered. My phone landed on the top unfortunately, and only a tiny scratch happened- the rest of the phone was unaffected and the case also was unaffected).
So, for every day use for a careful guy, Duzign is perfect- they also come in many different colors/feels. For every day use for a slightly clumsy person (I was wearing the wrong jacket with really open pockets when I dropped mine and was shaking my jacket up without realizing how big my pockets were and my phone jumped out, lol), I would go with the Case-Mate Tough- it's my current go to case at the moment. Finally, for a guy who just throws his phone onto the table or doesn't care if it falls down from time to time, the UAG is the best. That thing is beautiful and a beast- I have the white one and my Note 2 is white.
Here's a link for all the Duzign cases- they even have a leather one now: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_n...duzign&ie=UTF8&qid=1363965798&rnid=2941120011
here are my pics of all my cases so you can compare:
Top Row (Left to Right): Custom Case-Mate Tough, Custom Case-Mate Tough, Case-Mate Tough (original- my current fav), Mercury TPU, Cimo TPU, Cruzerlite TPU
Bottom Row (Left to Right): UAG Navigator, Elago Slim, Elago Slim, Duzign Valor, Duzign Valor
There's a case called six abundant. I'm using it. It's kind of like the rearth slim case but it offers more eprotection especially for the top and bottom bezel. It was only $10.

How are the Tough dimensions compare to the Mercury TPU case (It seems like they are the same except from the thickness ) ?

You're very welcome. The Mercury is very similar in dimensions to the Tough. However the Mercury doesn't protect very well on the edges around the front nor does it line up perfectly like the Tough.
I want a very thin case/shell (not a TPU) that protects also the bottom chrome part

I would strongly recommend BASEUS Air Case. I have been using it for 3 weeks and I am very pleased with it. It is only 0.6mm and protects both phone and its appearance . Since its a soft case, does not scratch the phone body.
There are some sellers at ebay with the unit price between $3.90 and $8.90.

Do you have any images of the case on your phone?
I probably won't get it since it's a glossy material on the inside, which would make it stick to my Xtremeguard, but I'm curious as to the fit of it on the phone.

Looking great, exactly what I've been searchng for
EDIT: lol I discovered now that I've already ordered this case on eBay ! But "BASEUS" isn't named right in the title so I haven't noticed it
i ordered my baseus case..was a lil worried but the tracking finally showed up...i should have it in a week or so..for now im rocking my spigen capsule ..but i want a thinner case
I ordered the Baseus ultra thin TPU case and other 2 clear cases:
Clear Hybrid PC Cover With Black TPU Frame (similar to the AmCase I believe, hard plastic with TPU Bumper)
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...998769&alt=web
NEW ULTRA THIN CRYSTAL CLEAR HARD CASE (similar to the Case-Mate Barely There, I believe, only hard plastic)
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...441622&alt=web
They are all very cheap, all three cases togheter cost less than the Case-Mate Barely there, for instance. Any of you guys have somethig similar?
Also ordered an glass screen protector from Aliexpress, 5 dollars shipped (Dont pay more than that, the brand ones are the same, your only paying marketing costs..)
I will post my opinion when I get them. I hope I like at least one of them
Cheers
i had a transparent case...and it turned yellow with time, bought it on ebay for 2$ though... but my recomendation dont buy that hh
Hi.
I'm looking for ultra thin case for LG G2. Can any reg. any good?
Also interested in this, I'm checking out the ones on ebay from China that reviewers have said is very thin (<1mm). But was hoping to find the thinnest possible case without having to resort to a skin.
The ultra thin ones from china are only good for scratch protection, but don't help at all (as I found to my cost) if the phone is dropped. I also found they're not very grippy, making it more likely that you will drop it.
Depending on your carrier, but the Vzw model Incipio DualPro is minimum bulk, buttons on the back are covered, and provides a good grip. The non Vzw one doesn't cover the buttons, unsure about the thickness comparison.
Not sure what super thin is, but I use the Tudia Melody and am a fan of it.
I've used the Incipio Feather. That is the thinnest case you can buy. It is also super awesome matte rubber like touch feel and high quality plastic. I just purchased a new one after original 2013 case was sort of a dingy blue.
http://www.amazon.com/Incipio-Feather-Case-Verizon-Packaging/dp/B00F4AYBPG
I just picked up the teal/light blue one the other day for $5 shipped. It is a little pricier now but normally run $24ish.
For as thin and skimpy as they are, my G2 looks flawless for having been dropped many times on concrete and hardwood. My case corners had a few scratches but the phone itself is protected. The case provides a small lip to protect the screen and grabs the corners to catch drops.
It is the only case I will buy.
Yesoo slim from amazon. Its the thinnest and has a great matte finish liket he nexus 5. Better than the super slick G2 back.

I've got two of these cases and have ordered two more: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOT-Ultra-T...Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item20f131738a
Second two haven't arrived yet and I ordered two weeks ago but a long delivery time from China is to be expected. For ~69p delivered you can't go wrong!
Very thin, almost don't feel it other than it being a more pleasant matte texture. Not very hard wearing, mines got scratches on after about a month, but I intended for it to be sacrificial anyway as they are so cheap.
http://www.amazon.com/MPERO-SNAPZ-R...=1423222408&sr=1-4&keywords=mpero+lg+g2+snapz
This case is wonderfull. I ordered it, but can't use it because i use tempered glass protectors that case would work only with a smaller one glass or with plastic screen protectors. But it has the nexus feel and is extra slim. Try it guys, very cheap and very good quality
I personally do not like TPU cases. They are too thick and add a huge lip around the screen which makes it hard to get to the edge (especially on the LG G2's screen).
And all TPU cases feel the same to me. The Incipio Feather is a hard shell and snaps to the back. It is pretty difficult to remove, even after owning my last one for a year and a half.
I have one of these an its very unobtrusive, and more grippy than the bare phone - it clips on very securely and protects the corners which is all I want.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FRFT3PG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00
BUT I suspect if you drop the phone the case won't last long - I've not dropped mine (fingers crossed a drop now isn't on the cards!) but my wife has one for her Moto G and it broke a piece off the corner when dropped on the corner - the phone was fine, but the case was junk, but at £2 for another it's not the end of the world and certainly stopped the phone getting damaged.

That probably won't work with the Verizon VS980 because our device is a little thicker then the other models due to Qi Charging. It is also basically the same thing as the Incipio Feather I posted, except the Incipio is specifically designed for the Verizon models thickness and different button size.
I've dropped my phone tons of times and the Incipio holds up nicely.

I've had 2 of these, and they are great. Very thin, and stylish... and grippy. I had to replace one because I dropped it right on the corner on concrete from about 4 feet up, and the corner of the case broke off, but the phone was only slightly damaged. Great case!

I have to agree, while no OtterBox, the Incipio feather has protected my phone well. Bought one off eBay for $10 and see the ones sold on Amazon have dropped in price as well.
I bought this for $5 CAD from ebay and it's better than my crimson Otterbox Commuter case for OPO 3. This case offers much better drop protection and it has a deep camera cutout. It is bulkier than Otterbox but comes with better grip as well.
These are offered in various colours but i went with black.

its a typical matte finish rubber. Its thick and smooth. cut outs are also perfect.
i bought it too this weekend for 3 usd i think on aliexpress.
Right before I buy this, how are the buttons on either side? How are the cutouts?
Some ebay cases I get make the buttons really hard to press.
Also, I use a metal plate to attach my phone to my car mount, do you think a very, very thin metal plate could wedge between the soft/hard casing? Sorry I can't provide a URL, but if you know what a "Spigen CD Slot Car Mount" looks like, you'll see the plate I'm referring to.
Appreciate it!
I find most cases get slippery on the sides.
I had speck in the past but it was OK any others that you recommend thanks
From what I've seen so far:
1. Spigen Liquid Air - Seems to have some good grip potential, especially with ridges on the sides. However, the gap around the camera bump is an interesting design choice...
2. Samsung OEM Matte Black Silicone Case - Seems to have a decent grip on the matte finish and very minimal.
3. Pitaka Air or MagEZ Case - While I haven't used them myself, I've heard good things about the grip/feel of the Ipitaka cases.
I'm personally going to try the PItaka MagEZ case when it becomes available (Aug 21st) since I like the idea of having embedded metal so I don't have to stick a scosche metal piece on the back of the case.
Also, just a heads up. According to some initial reviews on the new speck 'grip' cases, they're using a more plastic-feeling material for grips instead of rubberized and people are not happy about it. (I previously used them as well)
I switch phones often, but one thing that remains constant is my Pitaka MagEZ cases. Have purchased well over 10 of them at this point. Wouldn't choose any other thin case

The "Air" series cases generally don't rise above the screen.
They do have a thicker "Pro" series option with a raised lip to protect the screen, bumpers on the corners, etc.

Yes I've seen the one the only concern I've read it's a little difficult to remove the spen.. Your thoughts.
I will never choose Pitaka again.
Edges are rough and the upper part could have covered more
But I especially won't because it damaged my Note 10+ because of a defect in the inside of the case that made a grain of sand sized hole in the back of my phone.
Been using the Zizo Bolt on my Note 10+ for over 6 months. Excellent grip, usability and protection.
Kick stand doubles as a grip; either fully retract/extend it to keep from losing it's pins, if not secured in either position they can work their way out in your pocket! No issues with this case otherwise.
The one for the 20 seems to come with a temper glass screen protector; that may not work so well.
That's not present on the one for the 10.
Presumably you can use it without and substitute one one your choice?
Damn the 20's cam has a big bullseye on it... no likey. Buying a good case for the 10+ was very hard early on, no doubt the 20 U will be harder to protect

you know i never thought trying to find a case was going to leave me so hard pressed. note i do not mind the camera bump one bit. but they could have rounded out the camera hump a bit more. not the corners, but where the surface meets the edges and also they could have slanted the sides a bit more angled. who knows they did pull it off pretty good.
still on the camera bump.
note: with JJNUSA leather case you will be covering the mic on the camera bump. if that is a problem for you look elsewhere for a case.
i have received 200 in incentives to order goodies when i got my phone pre ordered and used it to order a few cases.
cases i ordered:
samsung rugged: bulky, heavy, don't like the texture on the back and flimsy kickstands that shoot off when used
samsung leather case: upgrade from last years, 2g lighter. seamless, but warps at the bottom. good cam protection.
samsun silicon: unsure if food grade safe. and slippery as glass
-other cases-
spigen Rugged Armor: oddly best all tpu case with carbon fiber accents. the back is slippery if trying to reach across the screen. side bumpers have one way slip grip and flimsy. camera is well protected. pen cut out too deep corner exposed but covered. top /bottom bumper good but top may block ear piece. 2g heavier then jjnusa leather
...now my official review of the JJNUSA Handmade Leather Case...
NOTE i used amazon prime
don't let the first pic they have on amazon throw you off, but what bothers me is the video they added to the product and it is of the s20 ultra; the camera lens is so scratched. i am still baffled how they did that. then again we will see in due time, because i can not stand the samsung leather case(which got me hooked on leather cases oddly) it is too slippery. the jjnusa case has tpu sides and saddle leather on back with plastic on the inside that the phone rests on. but i will say the leather on the back is so soft i think it sorta makes up for the lack of suede like the official samsung case has. then again the leather is so thick its' edges pop out the mold a teensy-weensy bit, but i doubt with proper use and not picking at it it will survive for a long time. with the 5% off coupon i also got another 1 usd off(who knows if it was the amazon prime). so for 19.95 it is a steal. most other leather cases are $30+. a steal; why may you say? hold on let me get to the rest of it. if we all remember the lg g4 leather back it was a looker. that was it, because it scratched easily and punctured easily. then we go onto the samsung leather case that scratches easily with minimal show. further more i can not say what that will mean over long term usage with this case from jjnusa. treat it lightly and it should be fine. now back to the leather on the jjnusa case. the leather reminds me of the type you get on a saddle and does not separate from itself. that is a plus. but a minus if the antiquing they use comes off very very easily?, and it does(con or not?) i had a cane that had antiquing and it turned my hands black, but after it leveled out it was fine. you know they always slap so much on to fill in the design that almost certainly more then half they put on will rub off. i have rubbed off some already. hence it would not rub off like wow, i had to use my nail. no way does it show like scratches on the samsung leather case. either way the extra antiquing will no matter what fade away over time and settle down to where it should be. i still think it will look good. at the same time the leather is much more scratch resistant then the latter. and the design and the look really grew on me. now on to the sides. the power button and volume are labeled with symbols and i like it even though i will never look at it. what else i like is that they are tpu like the rest of the sides. the tactile of the buttons are sturdy then again not too stiff not too mushy. then there is a bonus or an achilles heal; you move down the same side as the buttons and find a wrist strap punch out so you can add a wrist strap. have not tested it, seems like it should be worthy of use and not fearing. the bonus is removing the phone from the case, it does not shoot out like it does with the samsung leather case does. still it holds it in better. this is where i tell you that the jjnusa case has way better screen protection that leaves a better feel in the hand. the samsung leather case has a squidgy spongy top and bottom. the bottom is already warped and i never used it; i just put it on a few times and took it off. also a fail for the bottom bumper is the difficulty to remove the spen without nails. the jjnusa case is cut out just right and since it is thinner and more stiffer in a good way you can press your thumb or finger and hear that satisfying click to eject it. with that said the top and bottom bumper are raised higher then the samsung to protect the screen. the samsung case is more flush and flimsy.
i am a happy camper and if it fairs well i will update to 5 stars from 4, but i am really thinking at the price to slap down for another. as we all know leather cases do not last as long as other types
the reason i gave it 4 stars is i never really heard of JJNUSA till i saw them on etsy.com and since they where based in china i thought meh. then i thought to ebay's third party cases and said but leather? does not smell much like leather, oddly that is how saddles with the same type of leather smells. or it could be the antiquing they used and the shipping package. it was not shipped in a box or cheap plastic, it was in a cloth sleeve in a sealed padded envelope. JJNUSA do claim Oregon origins... yeah right etsy.com says ships from china.
i have played around with plenty of cases and phones in cases so it's not like i only have really had the note 20 ultra... just do not get one of them ultra thin all tpu cases. i have one for my lg g4 and only really protects the sides and back. busted the screen.
