I'm coming from the t989 gs2 forums and I have a few questions about my new note I'm getting tomorrow.
1. Why is development so limited for it.
2. Will the roms from att note forums work with this phone?
3. Any way I can install google now apk onto my phone without custom rom?
4. Why did tmobile discontinue the phone so quick?
5. would you recommend any jb roms? Are they stable?
thanks for viewing my noobness.

1. Not to many people especially Devs have the Tmobile version.
2. Yes, but you have to restore a tmobile boot. img first and reflash a tmo radio
3. I think it only works with JB roms
4. Because there lame.
5. Liquid Smooth JB rom runs perfectly.

I got the samaung galaxy s 4g a few weeks. I was using a rooted g1 with froyo 2.2 on it. My friend has the samssung vibrant and hes bricked it twice and had to send it to tmobile. Is it worth rooting my phone and flashing gingerbread on it. My galaxy s 4g is running 2.2.1 I just wanted to delete some of the preinstalled apps to clear up somw space and get some more ram? Any ideas without having to root?

I'd say its not reliable yet, most rom chefs are already went back to the JSx roms.

Rooting? Yeah for sure, its always nice to have it rooted.
Gingerbread? Wait some more, as mentioned before its not perfect yet, 2.2.1 is still more stable and better for daily use. Sammy will bring out the official ginger soon and then It wont be long before the stable roms leave the kitchen
yes you should root - no steer clear of vm1. Its a very buggy beta and the clean final is imminent in any case.
After rooting suggest you experiment with flashing any of the excellent 2.2.1 custom roms out there - then when the gingerbread roms come out you will be experienced enough to take advantage of those.
That is the best advice I can give to you
oh, and do plenty of reading in this excellent forum - there's plenty of brilliant advice - but you have to take the trouble to find and read it all

Either you dream of having it..... or you can root your phone with. GB there are many methods, next download CM night.. version don't remember which its now but you'll flash it simply using CWM if you don't have it flash a kernel with CWM and watch your counter

Or you can follow this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662802 and follow the installation instructions and/or videos to get this AWESOME rom on your device :good:
Take a look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
It's all you need to download and use any of our amazing custom roms. Just make sure you're on GB, choose the right package, run it and then go browsing custom roms to find the one you like
I personally recommend AOSP roms. Go for CM9 or Paranoid, those are probably the best available - though some might disagree, i always consider AOSP roms as best.
Yeah now I'm rocking cm9 flashed a stock rooted gb rom then flashed cwm via mobile Odin then flashed cm9/gapss and that's it

Whats added/missing from stock?
anything you miss?
is it any faster?
is tethering built in?
Details at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701865
A bit more zippy than the stock ROM due to the reasons listed on that thread. Otherwise, it's Samsung's honeycomb image.
Yes, android native tethering, both WiFi and USB, is enabled.
If you still think it's slow, get a new launcher, twlauncher (touchwiz) is kind of a beast...
You can overclock it to 1.7ghz or so and it'll still be reliable, at least that's my experience.
The ATT ICS ROM is in test with the carrier. It'll probably be out in a month or two. Samsung should also release the ICS kernel source around then, after which you'll likely see some custom ICS images -- Nobody wants to bother making custom HC images OR trying to get an ICS kernel working on this device before Samsung releases a proper one -- Several have tried and found it quite a task.
ICS is out for the WiFi versions. The LTE version should be available with Odin or Kies before ATT offers it via OTA.
Hi,
Yay I'm back. Will release TouchWiz ICS4.5 this weekend and TW5 JB in two weeks.
As above I have incorporated TonyP's LG CWM ROM with CM10 to make as a LG3 ROM with 4.1. I have deleted the CM10 parts from it later so its very stock like. Please a few testers try it and give me feedback as my 2X isn't available at the moment.

Awesome
I have downloaded it, and installed it. First off all I use 3.0 gig data partition and teamwin recovery, wich works flawlessly. It says in system info that it is still 4.0.4 but I don't know if that's actually true , the rom is smoother than the others, stefan and tonyp's and for the rest I don't really know what to say, sorry I'm a noob but, thanks and it works! Can I flash a N-7000 / i717 Rom with multiwindow on my t879 Note???
If you want a working phone don't flash anything related to N7000. It will cost you $50 to bring it back to life.
