GoSMS worked great on my captivate, and great on my Vivid when I had gingerbread. After I got updated to ICS, it noticeably laggier, and since I've tried handcent and Chomp too, and all 3 are laggy and slow on ICS. I suspect the problem is optimization. These programs were written for older android versions and made to be "compatible" with ICS, but they aren't designed for it. However no developer seems interested in making a good sms app. I just want something that's light, holo ui, custom text tones, and facebook sync, is that too much to ask?
Overall too many developers are living in the past. I think most of our software issues are due to the fact developers won't just cut off gingerbread and go to the newer framework. Even my buddy with a Galaxy Nexus got fed up with Gosms's lag and killed it.
I like the stock MMS app... Even better is the inverted one...
Ran fine on wildchild's ROM... Cept when you start the thread... First send force closes... But the message gets sent

Yeah I'm using the stock one now, no custom tone app either pure stock. It works like butter, and battery life is noticeably better too. I just like having custom text tones, that's a really all I ask. But I want it built into the app, like I said I've used the custom text tones app with the stock messenger, it works but it's wonky and battery life and performance will be affected since you have 2 messenger services working at the same time to notify and deliver messages

Installed Gingerbread yesterday, and would like to share my experience of the first day.
Here are a few things I noticed.
1. Overall speed of phone is better then froyo. My phone used to lag sometimes on froyo, but on gingerbread it's flying.
2. Battery life is better then before. Definitely better. Last's around 3-4 hrs longer than froyo.
3. One issue that might be in my phone is that movies played with a slight lag, but GB rom fixes this issue as well.
4. HTC Sense 2.1 is good, slight improvement. The new app drawer is better, organizing everything in All Apps, Frequent and Downloaded.
...will continue to bring updates as days progress.
Will also try to post some screenshot or video if possible soon.
How did you manage it get GB on an S-On, in India?
How is the GPS?
Lol. Not functioning on Vibrant. Works fine on Captivate. Ghey right....
Sent from this one thing that uses another thing to...WTF is this thing ringing?!?
Yes ... The update really is awesome

It's cool to see the better battery time. Usually I will need to charge my Incredible S in the late afternoon under my heavy use. It seems that after the update it may be able to sustain 1 day long for my use.

To install GB on S-ON IS i india, just create a Goldcard using this method:
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-make-gold-card-for-htc-desire-hd/
Then download the official ROM from the Shipped Rom Section here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1033922
I used the Virgin ROM.
And flash as normal. Worked flawlessly here.

Had the same issue, but now its somehow better.
Mine shipped with GB as i got mine through Optus Australia. Weird for us to be ahead in the android software..... Aussie carriers are usually slow
Im loving it btw, so smooth and the multitasking ability is great.... although i did just come from a Dream/G1......
could anyone run Quadrant on gingerbread and post up the scores? it would be interesting to compare
Average of 4 quadrant results:
1575

Ok, this is the second day now. Everything has been fine.
One thing i noticed is that weather of my current location is not getting updated. Also the weather screens didn't update properly once or twice.
GPS is working ok, kinda locates me very well and fast.

I have noticed this weather widget location problem too, it is specific to HTC widgets as beautiful widgets still update the location fine. I am looking into this issue to see if I can correct it in my ROM
Is the phone mic usable when a normal headphone without mic is plugged in during a call?

Now that you've mentioned it, i tried other HTC widgets too.... result.... The people widgets some times goes blank... takes a few secs to load the people I have added to the people widget. However, working fine for past 8-9 hrs now.
It's so tempted to install this RUU. Just saw an article in Android Advices regarding rooting the new Galaxy S II, and its so easy. Why couldn't HTC do the same.

Updated to 2.3.3 yesterday and muyt say everything runs a lot smoother. Still some stucking at widgets.
I have notice that the Sounds by pushing the Buttons sometimes Not work, after using over an hour.
And there is way to personalize the homescreen in the setting, when I click that it goes directly to the homescreen. Whitout any function. Sorry for my Bad english.

Anyone who installed GB, can mesure current consuption (with CurrentWidgwt) when the screen is off and when u put the device in airplane mode(screen off)? tx
Would like to know if the keyboard swap faster when you rotate the phone when typing I found it pretty slow in 2.2
I want to upgrade my IS to GB too. But I want to backup the current ROM. Is there any way to do it? My phone has S-on.
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone is running this launcher on their phone and if it lives up to the hype. 15 dollars is kind of much for an app but this thing looks awesome.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
Not running it, looks pretty sweet though. Wondering how much battery life gets used.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
I tried it with my Nexus S.
Guess what, it used up 55mb of RAM for launcher itself and 20mb for the widget.
Battery life was normal, just keep in mind that you cant run much apps otherwise, it will kill your launcher
I tried every launcher in the market (waste too much money through, but it worth for a experience and choose the best for myself).
I stick to MIUI launcher (iphone style).
I suggest you to try REGINA 3D launcher, is it pretty much the same
However, it's FREE
I tried the beta before it was on the market and liked it. I bought it when it came to market. I'm very happy with it. I don't use all the time. I switch back and forth between the stock launcher and the SPB. It sure is great to show to you I-phone loving friends. It's the WOW factor.
I'm using it and I love it! Its expensive! For an app
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Well if love the app, then its worth it. But I'm not sure if I'm gonna get it, but maybe sometime in the future. I'm still using the gingerbread launcher and its going pretty good. Ha. Not to many features, but its alright.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G
No scrollable widgets, resource hog = fail
Remember when SPB didn't make bloated software???
Oh wait..
m on stock n it works like a charm .. i got it cracked ..
battery life is like barely 3-5% drain more but u expect tht .. yea ram is eaten up but ur still left with arnd 100mb which is more than enuf to run anything ..
i remember on my milestone being happy when i got 45mb free
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVU84J1ShSQ
I bought it and I wish I didn't its not for me I went back to Go Launcher. I like to hide the status bar and I like swipes among a few other things that Shell don't offer. I wish I would of tried it first. Oh well you live and you learn
It's the only launcher I've used since it came out, love it. Battery life has been stable, I charge over night and it lasts me all day.

I just get force close after force close on my ns4g. I'm running cm7 nightly 63, and the matr1x 5.5 kernel.
Tried a "free" version and paid, same result.

Same thing here !
I bought mobile shell 3d 2.1 and it gives me a black screen on start up !
I'am also using ns4g
I have no problems with spb on my NS4G. Runs wonderfully.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G
Every time I run Angry Birds, SPB reloads in my Nexus S. I'm going back to my Go Launcher...
Tried this and had no problems with it but its a bit too much "stuff" really. I prefer to keep it simple, so I'm not really using it.

Ive used it as my main launcher for a while now but im going to seek others soon as it never gets updates with new widgets and uses 75mb ram on my ns. Also the loading is a ***** especially when it fc when u need your phone :s
so far so good
Using it for couple of days, its a RAM hog, battery life is no different from Zeam. but it freezes in sms and call widgets. yaa too expensive, they are working on a real3D screen now... hope i get my regular updates. it has a diff color temperature..my nexsus s visually looks like its 2.3.1
Used it about one month as main launcher. For me it was too much design and not enough speed + it freezed a couple of times. At the end I can say nice but stock is better.

So hopefully I don't get smacked down for this.
Here is my problem, recently got a new g2x having owned many other android devices that I rooted and then broke the guerrilla glass dual core nvidia sounded pretty slick. How ever there is no vibrate for SMS or led for anything. (My g2x came with gingerbread) but it really bugged me so I rooted with NV flash after discovering more practical methodes don't work with the Ginger rom... STILL NO VIBRATE OR LED lol and this is in the newest cm7 does anyone have any fix or anything?

When did the problem begin, during the time you bought it or did it just happen suddenly?
It came like that. :/ I think it has something to do with its stock rom which doesn't make since b/c its gone. But it has full haptic feedback but no vibrate notification for SMS, on any messaging app. Same for the led. Right now its running cm 7.1.0 which is I think android 2.3.7

If it did come like that, it just may be a hardware problem, since the problem is existent throughout different ROMs. You should go to the store and get a new phone before the warranty expires. But remember to revert to original ROM with no root or else they won't accept it.
But the vibrate works. For everything except SMS and mms it vibrates for haptic and calls and alarm etc. Just SMS...
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Do you still think it could be some sort of deep hardware issue?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
hi, maybe you dont have vibrating for sms and mms activated, you can check it in messaging -> settings -> vibrate
Has anyone else tried the cm9 music app. A quick Google will get you the apk. I liked the features and widgets a lot but it seemed a bit sluggish and made my phone hot at times. Also seemed like more of a battery drainer than stock.
Anyone else noticing this and do u know if it will be fixed on market final?
PS: was running codename aosp + speed kernel 5 when I tried.
HERE'S THE APK FOR THOSSE LOOKING FOR IT:

Yeah its good a lot of options. But it consume 32mb+ in ram usage that makes our phone sluggish when using it. Compare to google music that use about 8mb.

I dont own this device but i might pick one up soon however i would like to know weather the homescreen lag on xperia z still exists. Many reviewer complain about it but they are running old software versions i guess. So espacially after 4.2 update is there still any lag? And if yes how does it look like if you are running a custom kernel? I really hope there is a way to fix that because i dont want to see it.
I have not experienced any lags continuosly with my homescreen on 4.2.2, but sometimes it i see 1 minimal lag when playing with the homescreen for 2mins or so. compared to Samsung galaxy s4, that s4(my friends device) lags far more than my xperia on 4.2.2.
Yes there are kernels that can even improve the smoothness of the homescreens, but I would suggest you to try another launcher like novalauncher, that never lags at all!
Then it also depends on was apps are running in the background like Facebook etc
