[Q] apps' data - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've noticed that even after I move apps to sd-card partition ,the apps data is still saved on the internal memory.
can I move the data to the sd-card ?

That's normal. Even link2sd leaves data in internal memory.

Have wiped completely after partition ? Did u wipe dalvik cache too ?
Then apps2sd wont creat a link and link2sd too !
U need to create a new partition
delete the first one
And whenever u change rom donot wipe dalvik cache !

wiped completely and wiped dalvik too.
link2sd does create a link .
why shouldn't I wipe dalvik ?
*link2sd links only app, dex, libs to the partition. I wanted to know if there's a way to link the app's data too

Link2sd cannot link the app's data.
Other apps like s2e for cyanogenmod roms can, but s2e isn't compatible with link2sd.
Also there is an option in titanium backup to move the app's data to sd card. I don't know if this option causes conflicts with link2sd.

Thnx!
2 questions:
1. moving the app's data to partition would slow it significantly?
2.would I need to format my parition to use s2e, or just uninstall link2sd?

I'm on CM7 and the system is mounted rw. This allows me to link data to system and use otherwise dead space. Also doesn't slow anything down. I done this using root explorer.

S5830 & s2e

I have partitioned my SD and i have install all apps in the new partion with S2E.
I must now wipe my phone.
I have make a backup with titanium.
Can i wipe my phone and recover the apps with backup?
Yes, but they won't be restored to the partition, you'll have to move them again with s2e.

Bro, clearing dalvik cache by CWM doesn't affect any app. When you reboot the system, the phone rebuilds the required dalvik cache files. Your problem seems to be somewhat different...

Link2sd needs the dalvik cache to keep symbolic links of apps in the partition on boot. If you wipe dalvik, you mess up the structure and loose access to all apps on the partition.
Avoid wiping dalvik cache when using link2sd, unless you're changing roms (cuz you're wiping everything anyways).

Did you try rebooting? From Cwm recovery, try wiping cache partition.

Plug the sdcard to your system and use the "Gparted" or "Mini partition tool".. Make sure you backup the sdcard data first..

thanks but that's the problem i cant find my data. when i made the partition the size of sd-card became 4GB and the data was gone !!!! i installed mini tool partition but i didn't know how to delet partition
You may be able to shrink the partition using the partition wizard. I've been lucky, and also unlucky. If you try it, don't shrink the partition below the amount of data u already have on it. For example, if you have 150 megs of data, shrink the partition down to 200 megs. Still make a back up just in case. Good luck.

Plug out your SDCard and connect it to your PC and now Format it (Not Quick Format) and then the partition will be gone and you have to make a new partition!!!

Can't wipe internal memory?

So I'll boot into Safestrap recovery and I can install ROMs, wipe cache, all that, except I can't wipe internal memory. It just says something along the lines of 'can't find volume'. Anyone got a fix for this?:crying:

im sure theres an option for that in the actual memory settings on the phone. or you can mount the internal and external sd and just format on the computer
It is best by using root explorers. Root into your internel memory and wipe unwanted datas easily ...
