[MOD] Remove Carrier from StatusBar [WITH HOW-TO] - Motorola Atrix HD

I removed that awful carrier text from the status bar, while preserving it in the notification shade and on the lockscreen.

Changes are made to xml in the SystemUI.apk
Here's how to do it:
Decompile the SystemUI.apk using apktool
Navigate to /res/layout/status_bar.xml, open with Notepad++, Geany, etc
Find the line that contains:
Code:
<TextView android:textAppearance="@android:style/TextAppearance.StatusBar.Icon" android:textSize="16.0sp" android:textStyle="bold" android:gravity="left|center" android:id="@id/onsText" android:paddingLeft="6.0px" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:singleLine="true" android:maxLength="18"
You want to edit the android:maxLength to "0". that will delete it.
Save your changes in the editor.
Recompile the SystemUI folder using apktool.
Grab the SystemUI.apk from the dist folder and get it on your phone. ADB, Root Explorer, whatever.
Push it to /system/app
Change permissions to rw*r*r .... thats 0644
Reboot and enjoy.
OR
You can use my SystemUI.
*THIS IS ONLY FOR ROOTED JELLY BEAN*
*BACKUP YOUR EXISTING SYSTEMUI TO YOUR SDCARD AND DO A BACKUP IN SAFESTRAP*
I am not responsible for anything that messes up your phone. However usually the worst that can happen with a SystemUI is your wallpaper, notification bar, and navbar disappear. In this case I just fire up RootExplorer and move my backed up copy of SystemUI back in and all is well again after a reboot.

I'm working on it with another Motorola dev, he's got some ideas I'm gonna try out.

Thanks. It worked great once I decided to use a GUI file explorer instead of trying to figure out how to mount system rw in adb.
Woot! (I'm always looking for more space in the notification bar).

And to change the name of the operator?

Wallpaper is just one I found from wallbase I can post it up if you want. The widgets are actually three different ones... The analog clock is the 4.2 clock app modded to be black. The weather is BeWeather 2x1 widget with no background, roboto light font, and vosflat black icon... And the battery percent is minimalistic text. I'm using holo launcher with overlapping widgets allowed and 5x4 grid.
The latest combo of widgets I'm using:

I'm curious to know what edit/s have to be made for this. I use Alarm Clock Plus but it also suffers the same problem as deskclock. So I'll probably mod and resign it to fix it for me.
Thanks for this btw!
Edit: after a bit of playing around, I found this... is the /transparent the only change made? I compared xmls and saw this difference so far
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<selector
xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">
<item android:state_pressed="false" android:drawable="@android:color/transparent" />
<item android:state_pressed="true" android:drawable="@drawable/list_selector_background_pressed" />
</selector>
Works well Mr. Elektro

Of course I am assuming this is the same fix that just replaces a layout.xml file in the apk

Decompile the systemui. Find the 2 xml's listed above in the res/drawable folder. Edit the xml to show all charge rates 0-100 in both xml's (suggest notepad ++). Add the battery images in the res/drawable-hdpi folder. Recompile, do not sign. Push the edited systemui to the phone.
you have to decompile systemui.apk then substitute or edit those two xmls mentioned above and add the missing % png icons, then recompile the apk. if you want i can upload a ready pack tomorrow.. then you'll just change the icons to your needs

I don't believe that UOT supports ICS, GB only. Icon Placements, xmls, & framework are very different in ICS.
1) decompile systemui.apk
2) copy the attached files (overwrite when asked)
3) recompile the apk
4) done!
i attached a template, it's the thin circle mod that i usually use.

Using root explorer, move framework-res.apk to system folder. Set the right permission and then move to framework folder and overwrite the old framework-res.apk.

You can get it working if you just install the SystemUI.apk and use the modified lidroid settings.apk from the link above (read the instructions in the post links and you'll find it).
You will lose any status bar mods and the back button doesn't scale properly to the shortened button bar in omar's ROM

[GUIDE][GB] Adding Seconds to Status Bar Clock

Intro
Hi guys, I found this guide by @fugjoo, to add seconds to the status bar clock, seemed really cool but, it was for CM10.1, so I did some more searching and found another guide by @Ticklefish, but that was for ICS. Disappointed again, I said, why not GB?
And you guys know, "Curiosity is the mother of all inventions" [It's not an invention, but, mehh ]
I tried, and it worked. [Reason for the guide]
The method is same but the line to edit is not the same as of ics/jb so many users would get confused whether to take the risk or not. [Second reason of this]
