[Q] Samsung Galaxy Ace S5380 battery issue - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My ace's battery is not even lasting half day even with no major use. (Just some calls). Using code *#*#4636#*#* mentioned in one of the post here i checked for my battery health. The health is good but the battery voltage is shown as 3.0V . I suppose it is 5.0V for Ace.
Is my battery faulty ? or there is some other problem? Also please suggest any way to find the correct battery health.
I am currently using official Gingerbread 2.3.6. Thanks in advance

I had even weirder situation, when my battery would drain minutes after charging.
I tried every battery calibration, saver whatnot but it didn't help.
So i wen't and bought a new one, and voila, my problems were solved
It seems that batteries don't last that long as they used to...

[Q] Weird Battery Life

Hello all,
I'm having a weird battery problem and am not sure if it is software or hardware. Basically, I have charged and it will last about halfway through the day. I'll look at it and between 50-55% of battery life it will turn off and go dead. I'll turn it back on and the battery is at 0% - no warning or anything. I have to then charge it back up and it seems to take a while from 0-25% and then it will skip to 90% and finish charging to a 100%. I've tried several different roms and all are giving me the same problem - currently on oxygen 2.3.7
How old is your battery, and is it a stock battery?
You may want to calibrate your battery. There is an app on the market that is specific for the N1 and instructions for it can be found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9583271&postcount=340
It isn't the easiest thing to do, but if you do have a decent battery (some cheaper knockoffs don't have support of figuring out your battery age), it can get your phone to properly detect your age of your battery and show the correct stats for it.
As for it dying half-way through the day... have you checked to see if apps are chewing up your battery time? If they aren't, it may be time to get a new battery anyway.

It is the stock battery I got when I got my phone in May of 2010, so I can expect to be not as a good as a new battery but it's bothering me that i can't have a an accurate reading on how much battery I have left. I feel like I have half a battery left and then all of the sudden it will die. I'll try the calibration and see what that does. I don't think its apps because I've flash and reflashed my phone and never have many apps as a result

[Q] please help! rooted Starbusrt Rom +1.4 overclock..screen using 80% of battery!

Hi guys,
after flashing the starburst rom and over clocking and several tries to calibrate the battery my battery is still draining a mile a minute. I used the battery calibration app....have let the battery fully drain and charge at least 5 times now and I still can't get back my battery life!
I'm thinking the root of the problem, well...when I go to settings than battery use it says the screen is using between 70-80% of the battery...I am assuming that what is sucking the life out of my battery but I have no idea how to fix it. my screen time out is at 30 seconds...brightness is almost as low as it can get. ITS DRIVING ME NUTS
I am assuming I calibrated the battery correctly cause it does not drain at all when the screen is locked.
please, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I am ready to rip my hair out!
I just opened battery calibration app its at 70% 4mv isn't it supposed to be like 4000mv? or is just abbreviated?
I just flashed a new rom and still having the same issue!
trying to calibrate the new rom using battery calibration and its barely charging...been stuck on 61% 4mv for about a half hour now..
is it possible that this problem is being caused because I installed the roms with ROM manager and not CWM?
I apologize for what questions may seem dumb...I am a noob....but i have searched relentlessly for answers on this specific problem here with out finding much yet.
disregard that last question..lol..u can see how badly this has my brain turned upside down

Extreme Battery Drain

Hello, it's me again with problems. I have an extremely battery drain, even Juice Deffender can't handle on this. When I put the phone on charger, when he turns off after 0 % battery status, indicator shows me 50 % min after only few seconds on charger, and it's fully charged for half an hour maybe. When I turn on 3g and connect to Net, from 100 % to 0% is ONLY 15 min ?!?! I have cm-7-20120812-NIGHTLY-cooper ROM, but when I had offical 2.3.6, it was the same problem. Can I check some-how what is the problem- software, calibration or battery? I did a few calibration without any success. I'm really sorry on my very bad English. I will be grateful if anybody can redirect me on the right topic. Thanks in advance
3G eats a huge battery. I would not expect anything nice from it. But seems that your problem is a bit more problematic. How long do you have your phone?
Make sure you are charging your phone until its actually full not just when it says 100% look here for more details:

Did you try wiping battery stats in CWM or recalibrating it?
I've tried wipe stats with Battery Calibration, and with CWM wipe battery stats. I've tried different ROMs, DroidACE, official 2.3.6, cooper nightly ROMs, and all of them have same problem. I've noticed that the battery is a little thicker in the middle, before it was flat, and now is a little convex in the middle. I've tried also discharging and charging for a 5+ hours, didn't help me. literally be emptied by 20 min of Use

Sheesh guys. Battery Calibration doesn't affect battery life on your phone. It's just for accurate readings -_-"

Yeah man, Ive got the same problem.
If I charge it for about 3-4 Hours, I get a max of 5 Mins or so, with Wi-fi on.
When the Battery is about 10%, and I put it to charge, It immediately says 99% charged.
I've changed 2 roms, and still no effect, infact, its got worse.
Even Juice defender (even the ultimate version) dosent work, Not even Underclocking.
I saw the battery recalibrating thing and Ive wiped the battery stats, still no use.
I think there's a problem with the battery itself?
Im just sick of it.

I also think that the battery itself has a problem, not any ROM. I'll go to service for a few days and I'll tell you about what was the problem.

Yeah, I suspect it is a problem with the battery.
Anyways, thanks man
If it's deformed, then your battery's life is over, that's it, get a new one.
You can try the freezing method to try and squeeze it for a bit of juice:
Charge to 100, Plastic wrap, in the freezer for maybe an hr (not too long), take it out, put it in your phone, charge it till it says fully charged, turn on your phone and check duration.
seems a deep sleep issue
Just abuy a new battery. I suggest a Anker branded one. Search a battery review topic at the Accesoires section. If you buy the Anker 1400mAh, your battery life will be even better than the original battery life. And Anker is trusted and cheap.

I listened to your advice and bought a new battery, now I'll see what was the problem, battery or maybe hardware/ROM. I'm charging it now. Any advice how to charge new battery? Advice for scripts or ROMs? I'm going to use nightly cooper cm 7.2 and juice deffender. What about cm9 and this model?

Since we're in 2012, I'm guessing it's a lithium ion battery.
Just plug it in and wait for some time (~15 minutes)after it reaching 100% to actually fully charge.
It would be best if you don't let it discharge below 20-30%.
Read more about lithium ion batteries by searching around the web for more info.

So, How did it go?
Was there a problem in the battery?
or, is something wrong in the phone?
there was a problem in battery, I bought a new battery, not Samsung, but also has 1350 mAh capacity, and it's 2nd time on charging, life is about 2 days of using, average 2-3 h 3g, and playing games, half hour voice and maybe 30 sms and mails, and for me this is a very huge improvement from 15 minutes before death battery. Cheers, sorry again on my bad English

Hmm, I did get slight improvement once i calibrated using another app.
But Im still getting a new battery
anyone knows why phone's display blink-up randomly? I saw that earlier, and I thought that was because of battery, but obviously, wasn't that. It's totaly random. And, I have another question, I've played with *#*#4636#*#* code, and sometimes phone can't receive or sent messages, except when preffered network type is GSM only and only after turning on and again off airplane mode. I have cooper cm 7.2 newest nightly ROM.

I had the same issue when I was using Elegant white by TAZ.
But Then I flashed a fix for it.
I suggest you should too get in touch with the dev.
But first, flash the rom again.

Thank you. Anyone knows where is the official topic for cm 7.2 nightly cooper? I found one topic in development section, but at the end of it someone wrote that topic is closed on developer's request. And where I can find changelog? I saw that there is newest nightly update from 19.8. http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=cooper

[Q] Ativ S - battery draining quickly

Hello,
I have an Ativ S and about a week ago the battery started to drain very quickly - about 15 to 20 per cent an hour.
I do not have wifi, bluetooth or gps on and usually the battery lasted 2 -3 days but now I need to recharge twice a day.
I thought that this was maybe caused by a program so I reset my phone and reinstalled only a few programs, but that did not work.
1) Is there any way that I can see if an app is draining my battery quickly?
2) Could this be a hardware problem? If so, how can i tell if it is the battery or the phone? I think that my warranty has expired, so returning it is not an option.
PS It is on GDR2, no interop unlock or any other tweak whatsoever.
Thanks
I'm not going to say it's flat-out impossible for an app to drain your battery that fast in the background, but it's not far off. If you want to be really sure, though, enable Battery Saver mode immediately after unplugging the phone (at full charge) and don't use it. Battery Saver prevents all background app activity, so there won't be any apps running and therefore they *cannot* be affecting the battery.
I'm pretty sure that, given the rate of drain and the fact that it persisted through a hard reset, you have a hardware problem. The good news is that it might just be a bad battery - that is a thing which happens, and it's even fairly common on batteries a couple years old - in which case it's a good thing you have a phone with a user-replaceable battery! The way I'd test that is to swap your battery into somebody else's ATIV S and see if the problem persists. If so, it's the battery; if not, it's your phone. Alternatively, you could just buy a second battery and see if that helps.
One other thing to check: if the battery really is still working and the phone is draining it that fast, it'll be dissipating a lot of energy as heat. Does the phone stay abnormally warm while the battery drains like that? That would be a sign of a problem with the phone or the OS, as opposed to the battery itself.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure there are some battery diagnostics and charging statistics located in the Diagnosis app (##634# in the dialer). I forget the code for them but I have all of the codes written somewhere; alternatively, you could do some searching. You could compare the reported battery capacity there with the expected (design) capacity.
I reset my phone again, installed only Viber and till so far, the battery drain seems to have disappeared (or at least improved).
Some users on wpcentral reported that they had major issues with battery drain caused by Whatsapp.
I used Whatsapp for quite some time but never had any problems( till now).
Maybe the last update caused this, i dunno...
Anyway, thanks for your answer.
I will see how it goes and I will let you know.

S3 mini Displaying Wrong Battery Percentage After Replacing battery and New Rom.

Hey guys, its my first post on this forum (or on any forum for that matter) so I apologize if this is in the wrong section . But recently I've been having a problem with my S3 mini and hoped I could get some help on here. So a few days ago I got a 4000mAh - 3.7V extended battery for my phone because my old one had broken. The old battery was the stock battery that came with the phone. Before I bought the new battery I also installed the PacmanROM on my android. But since I got the battery the percentage my android displays has been completely wrong. I'm pretty sure that the battery is fully charged after over 16 hours of charging but the percentage the phone displays is only around 65% and no matter how long I charge it the percentage never reaches 100 and it will stay on a certain value that will randomly fluctuate if I restart the device. So is there anyway to make my phone display the correct percentage? Thanks for your help!
In my opinion, extended batteries are more trouble than they're worth. I have dabbled with them but all have failed at some point (even brand new). If you put the battery on a flat surface and it 'wobbles' at all then its duff. I use stock batteries. Sorry if this is not what you want as an answer but just my experience with extended batteries.
Sent from my GT-I8190N running CandyKat
Thanks for the input anyway! I've never tried any other extended batteries so I ignorantly decided to get one hoping it would work well. But anyways I believe that its not the battery that's at fault since the battery seems fine to me (no bumps showing a faulty battery). I have a feeling that its my old battery that's at fault or the system still possibly assuming its a stock battery. Well I'm no expert .
Awfully I can post the link for fix this..
The APP for fix this 'bug' is "Battery Calibration", it delets a battery file, and after restart the cellphone, that file is remade with correct data.
Well I looked into Battery Calibration and have managed to find a fix! I charged my phone to "full" (which my phone only displayed as ~50% at the time) and once the battery percentage stopped increasing I left the phone to charge for a few hours after that. Then when I was sure that the battery is actually full, I installed a battery calibration app and "calibrated" my battery which deleted the batterystats.bin file. I then waited for my phone to completely run out of charge, which I sped up with an app called "battery discharge", then when I let the phone switch off by itself from an empty battery. Once the phone restarted the battery percentage displayed was correct.
Try Battery calibration
isnt battery callibration a complete myth and placebo? deleting batterystats.bin shouldnt help as it just contains data about what consumed battery juice
