[Q] Droid - Motorola Droid Bionic

Hi people, Im new to this site so here goes... I have a Droid Bionic with Verizon but the contact is over. I still have the cell phone so how do I Jailbreak and Unlock my phone so that I can keep it and go with a Pay-As-You-Go option with another provider? I am not a phone or computer wizz so a step by step guide and a break down of what leads I will need would be greatly appreciated...... Thank you so much in advance. Please help!

You can root it (there is no jailbreak - that is Apple). Check http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497690. As for using on a different carrier I dunno that aspect.

[Q] Quick question

Ok so my girlfriend has a Blackberry and she hates it. She's up for a new upgrade, BUT she's on Alltel. They only have the hero and her friends have all had bad experiences with it. I'd like to get her a Droid and put it on Alltel. She can't leave Alltel because she's got a good deal with a family plan. I've done some quick researching to no avail, but was wondering if maybe some of you could help. Anything you can link me to or tell me about would be helpful and I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
There is, but you will need someone who has had lots of expesince with the hardware and esn's of phones.

You will find a lot of info here
http://www.whiterabbit.org/android/
U will find a lot of info there, I'm well experience in the metropcs world, but I know nothing about altell
U will need someone that can add the esn to altell, after that ready the website that I sent you...

[Q] Help Choosing Rom To Flash

I have moved his over to the appropiate section and copied and pasted my question.
I am new to this forum and apologize for my noobness in advance as i wasn't sure either to post this here or in the Android Software and Hacking General section and i appreciate any comments as i understand i am new here and have contributed nothing to this forum. Here is my dilemma, i recently purchased a t mobile g1 from a friend about two weeks ago because i was interested in the android OS. Being in the UK it is locked to the T-mobile network which my existing sim is orange. I understand that there was a developers ROM that was released (codenamed holiday (adp 1.1)) which allows other networks to be used on the g1 e.g orange etc as its a developer version. I was wondering what compatible ROMS for the g1 (htc dream) that would allow me to use my orange sim. Again i really do appreciate nay comments and help i receive and understand i have not contributed to this community and it is highly rude to ask for something when given nothing.
Changing the ROM on your device will not unlock it so that you can use it on any network. You need to get an unlock code for your device. T-Mobile US will give these out to their subscribers but I don't know about your carier. If they don't you can get it online too. They will need your phone's IMEI to generate the code. Just put in the new SIM and it will prompt you for the code regardless of the ROM you have.
isnt there such a thing as a hardware unlock though if i use a custom rom?. I brought this phone from a friend so i doubt phoning t-mobile will help get me a code.
p.s. cheers for taking the time to comment
No, I'm fairly sure the only way to unlock this device is what I posted above.
i thought you just needed a t-mob sim to login and then you were free to choose after this whole rooting/flashing thing.
its already a long time ago, so i might confuse a lot and its only that what i think to know. nothing sure..
i wanted an android phone and my friend was saying i culd get his off him and i thought that be a perfect time to get into the android os and stuff, i wasnt ure if i coulld by rooting/flashing that id be able to use another network thats why i wondered if i flashed it to a deveopler rom the adp1 one i could us another sim, i will look into the method beav_35 put but im not sure on any reputable sites to trust to do this method.

Rooting + Unlock

(moving to the right thread)
A newbie here to all things rooting
I am going to be travelling Europe and South Asia in 2 weeks and want to take my captivate with me. IF I root the phone, will that unlock the phone so that I use a local SIM of the country that I am travelling.
Another reason I want to root is that I am sick of all the ATT bloatware, and would be nice to get some Froyo going
Could please suggest/point a relatively simple method for a linux dumb like me.
Much appreciated.

Rooting will not unlock your phone. Luckily Galaxy S devices like Vibrant or Captivate have their unlock code inside their phone. All you have to do is search "unlocking captivate" on google and you should find instructions.
If you have not rooted yet and you don't know the details I suggest you do some reading. There is a pinned thread at "Captivate General" forum that has basic readings on rooting, ODIN, CWM and what not. I could tell you the things that you ask.. but I find it very beneficial when you know what you're doing.. so that you don't do stupid stuff on your phone and possibly go beyond hard bricking.

As far as I can tell, all you need to do is replace the SIM card that works for your carriers over there. Hpe that helps.
Try the sim of not you need to modify the radio config

That tool works but not for our 510s really... It's super easy and fast just to root the phone yourself because some of my friends tried that and it didn't work but in the process it did something to the boot and we weren't able to unlock it the easy way so I suggest you just use a computer and fastboot to do it.
for our 510s?
which carrier or not the us version?
the phone is on cricket not virgin mobile.
if you look at cricket please be tech savy their phone support is worse than republic wireless's phone support.(youd be better off without crickets support provided they dont hang up on you.)

It doesn't matter what carrier you're on all of the HTC Desire 510s are the same except for the 64 bit ones. You don't have to take my advice, I'm just trying to save you some trouble but if you think that program is gonna unlock your phone and everything go for it, just don't come asking me why it screwed your phone up!! You can ask anyone around on here that knows me, I'm trying to keep you from messing up but like I said you don't have to take my advice!
Edit: I don't have cricket service so I don't care how bad their support is this has nothing to do with that... And if you're asking if I'm tech savvy.... LMAO, HAHA! That made my night man!!
actualy i was checking to see if the programs unlock scripts were upto date.
the desire 510 is listed but as a lg volt owner i know scripts need to be updated regularly.
advice given is always a good thing.
token retrival complete using program no issues!
