Hi there,
a few days ago I updated my Razr i to version 81.5.31002 via RSD lite and then to 81.5.40002 via custom recovery. I have an unlocked bootloader and it all went well, except for the radio. After the update, I couldn't get any service any more. I have a EU retail phone and am currently in Australia, I don't know if that makes any difference regarding carriers, etc...
Anyways, I tried restoring a nandroid backup but it still didn't work, so I'm assuming it has to do with the radio that was updated while flashing the new version. Wifi still works, but I guess that doesn't mean anything. My dad owns another Razr i which still has the old version running, so I will try to extract it from his phone and flashing it onto mine, but I don't know what block to extract. Here's the output for adb shell su cat /proc/partitions:

Any ideas which one could be the radio? Or does anyone have any further suggestions how I can fix my problem?
Thanks a lot!

lol you need to go to system/etc/firmware/modem and copy radio_firmware.bin from your razr to pc then flash it whilst your phone is in fastboot
fastboot flash radio radio_firmware.bin

Wow didn't know it was that easy...
Sorry for starting a whole thread for that... Anyways, I'll try that and see if it works.
Thanks!

Trying to find out where all the boot images are on the captivate. From another HOWTO I saw this:
Code:
cat /proc/mtd
dev: size erasesize name
mtd0: 000a0000 00020000 "misc"
mtd1: 00420000 00020000 "recovery"
mtd2: 002c0000 00020000 "boot"
mtd3: 0fa00000 00020000 "system"
mtd4: 02800000 00020000 "cache"
mtd5: 0af20000 00020000 "userdata"
But on the Captivate I get:
Code:
bash-3.2# cat /proc/mtd
/proc/mtd: No such file or directory
Any idea where this is stored on the Captivate?
In /system/media there are two files that I am assuming are the bootimages:
bootsamsung.qmg
bootsamsungloop.qmg
Not those images.. The kernel and such
The kernel is hiding somewhere. Looking at /proc/partitions I see:

I tried fdisk on those tfsr's and bml's and fdisk says they contain no valid partitions. Where the heck could Samsung be hiding the kernel????
My bad, forgive my insanity
SGS uses a Samsung proprietary interface for its flash, not MTD. Bml7 is the kernel, which is a compressed bootable image containing the kernel and initramfs. Bml12 is where the modem.bin is written when flashing, presumably this is loaded by the baseband processor. The stl devices contain the various filesystems used by the phone.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
"cat /proc/mtd" does not work on my Samsung device too.
"cat /proc/partitions" gives me a long list similar to the one above.
Any idea how I can figure out which ones are the boot and recovery images?
do a cwm backup with tar format and you will have the files, clearly labelled as such.
at least on cm10.1, per sys/dev/classes:
mtd0 has name=root
and
mtd1 has name=recovery
Have a look here will help:

The kernel is in the boot.img. Sow it the boot partition that hase the kernel.
I wanted to extract boot.img from an existing rom, following this wiki:
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.p..._Images#Structure_of_boot_and_recovery_images
But it seems that on Stock Rom (actually I'm using Zeus rom, based on stock) there is no /proc/mtd that would tell me where to find the "boot" partition. I think it should be one of these:
179 0 1912832 mmcblk0
179 1 128 mmcblk0p1
179 2 512 mmcblk0p2
179 3 6144 mmcblk0p3
179 4 6144 mmcblk0p4
179 5 2048 mmcblk0p5
179 6 2048 mmcblk0p6
179 7 8192 mmcblk0p7
179 8 660480 mmcblk0p8
179 9 1161088 mmcblk0p9
179 10 65536 mmcblk0p10
179 11 128 mmcblk0p11
179 12 128 mmcblk0p12
179 16 15637504 mmcblk1
179 17 15633408 mmcblk1p1
Do anyone know where the boot partition is hiding? Or have an idea on how to find where it is?
Here are some of the partitions:
Code:
loop0 =
/dev/block/mmcblk0 =
/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 =
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 =
/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 = /boot
/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 = /recovery
/dev/block/mmcblk0p5 = /lgdrm
/dev/block/mmcblk0p6 = /dvp/userdata
/dev/block/mmcblk0p7 =
/dev/block/mmcblk0p8 = /system
/dev/block/mmcblk0p9 = /data
/dev/block/mmcblk0p10 = /cache
/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 =
/dev/block/mmcblk0p12 =
/dev/block/mmcblk1 =
/dev/block/mmcblk1p1 = /sdcard
dm-0 =
I used the Vivid Toolkit for Noobs and unlocked the bootloader, flashed the recovery to CWM, flashed the kernel using the .IMG kernel file in Virtuous Inquisition v4.0.2.1, rooted, copied Virtuous Inquisition over to the phone, went to recovery, and...
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
install zip from sdcard
Virtuous Inquisition installed and I am using it now. However, if I go to SETTINGS > STORAGE something happens to where the phone goes back to the Home Screen and displays...
"Unfortunately, Settings has stopped."
I can press OK to close that message, but something isn't right.
If I enable USB Storage and look on my computer, I only have 8.82 GBs of storage? I realize some is locked by Android, but I would think I would be allowed more than 8.82 GBs.
I would like to repartition then reformat the phone and reinstall Virtuous Inquisition v4.0.2.1. What is the best and easiest way for a noob to do this?
Yeah something isn't right...

I am trying to backup the current partitions to see the kernel/recovery and not getting far. Has anyone else been working on this?
