Alright so I install my apps to my SD Card, including most of the ones that are supposed to be on the Internal Storage. But whenever I install the apps to my SD Card, it still takes up internal storage. Is there a way to fix this or clear this? I cleared the cache with App2SD, but there's still a lot of memory being used on internal storage. Can anyone help?

Apps always leave dalvik-cache and their data on internal memory.
The workaround for this is partitioning your sd card and using an app or script to move apps to the partition.
Look in the recopilation and stickies for solving internal memory problems.

The app itself may be on the SD, but it's data and dalvik cache is on internal memory

yaa i have heard that even if we use script or app for moving apps to sd card by making partition , than also for every 500mb of sd card we need around 100mb of internal phone memory..

I just installed apps2sd on a freshly wiped system. I'm pretty sure mine's working and tested it by installing Google Earth.
It did subtract around 20mb from the SD card secondary.
But it also subtracted it on the phones internal storage of around 20plus mb.
I rebooted to be sure, but it's still missing 20mb.
Is it normal that values are subtracted on both storage?
It's not normal as far as I know. It would defeat the purpose of Apps2SD.
Urgh. What have I done wrong?
I partitioned the SD until ext4 using Amon_RA 1.7
I wiped to factory settings and ext using Amon_RA 1.7
I flashed CM 5.0.6
then I wiped again to factory settings.
maybe I'm wrong, but what I have heard is that the app stores on SD card but cache of the app is stored on internal memory. what you are experiencing also happens to me when I install any app.
sstang2006: You're right. The data of the app is still store in internal memory from what I know .
Yup...the main data of the app is still stored on internal memory. Only the apk file and some other stuff is stored on the SD.
did you apply the app2sd?
setting > application > apply the app2sd
Its normal. Apps are installed on the SD card, but program DATA is still stored in the internal memory. i.e. apps2sd is literally "apps to sd card"
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=646579
Yes Apps2SD is checked. Oh well, I guess Google Earth naturally takes a lot of the internal storage.
I just thought I would never have a problem with the internal storage decreasing in free space.
Thanks for the responses guys!
use CacheMate and clear your Cache....you'll get some internal memory back.... I use it only after using the market to dl/install apps as i've been told a lot of "data" can be used and never "cleared" when dl/installing from market....Give it a try wth right?

Google Earth has a library file that is 17MB that is installed at /data/data/com.google.earth.
Hi.
I'm currently on Froyobread v21. I noticed that on my initial install that I had about 200+Mb of internal storage. I added some apps and games which are all installed on the SD card but my internal memory is now at 117Mb.
I understand that apps will leave some Mb's or Kb's on internal memory when transferred to SD but I calculated all the apps installed and I should still have about 180+Mb of internal storage.
I wiped the cache, dalvik cache but it keeps on depleting.
Any Ideas?
Oh, one other thing. I am not doing anything to my phone right now but the internal memory changes from 122Mb to 110Mb to 117.
Anyone? Please help...
Use a2sd+ script, install a2sd+ app, move dalvik cache to sd, but first of all partition your sd card

I guess app's data are also taking some of the internal memory.
/system is also taking some internal memory
so it's hard to have more internal storage unless you delete something in /system.
Anyway, 100Mb free is fine...
X8 have 512 MB of nand system+data+cache
But a OS can cost almost 400MB memory.
Thanks for looking into this guys!
Anyway, I checked all cache on the phone and to my surprise the new Market is taking 20+Mb of cache!
I deleted it and now I have a full 140 - 170Mb of free space. I just have to remember to clear the Market's cache.
Maybe this will help others having the same problem.
Thanks to all of you!
Everything is on SD Card and still I have only 30mb free space...how can I clean up phone memory?
Install Root Explorer and delete the non-used apps
Hi install darktremor app2sd script! quick instuduction how to: first of all you have to partition your sd card via cwr then download darktremor app2sd script, put on sd and install zip from sd! its important to mount system and data first before install darktremor! then reboot if its done your phone will reboot again to put all apps on 2nd partion of sd card! then download app2sd gui from the market with this app you can move dalvic cache to sd also! and if both done tada emty interial memory ;-) ok one thing dont do or move anything in settings/apps on the phone after you install darktremor cause it ruins the script and it will not work anymore! do settings when only with app2sd gui!

You can try also this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391214
Even though everything is being installed on the sd card the root or core files of the app gets installed on the phone memory not much but a bit

Moving apps to sd-card doesn't move complete app (it only move movable part of the app to sdcard and leave other to internal memory)....
So, partitioning is recommended. Partition your sdcard and install a2sd scripts to move app to sd-ext. For more info regarding this search at http://yagyagaire.blogspot.com
Best solution for me: with Titanium Backup Pro i used integrate sys Dalvik into ROM now i have free internal memory
I think s2e works just fine for our CM7, except the "Download Cache" option... Just don't tick it.
Hi I have Squadzones CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC5 and I tried to partition my SD card for using one of the apps to make internal storage bigger.
So I have a 2Gb SD card and want to use 512Mb for Increasing internal storage, Dalvik cache, System apps and all other apps (But I want system to think they are internal, know what I mean?) and then 1.5Gb for External Storage so I can use it for Music, downloads, pictures, videos etc... Basically the space my PC can see.
So what settings should I choose in CWM and which app is the best for increasing internal storage????
Thanks in advance
first partition sd card on pc using a partition manager like Easeus partition manage, minitool etc. Format the partktion by either FAT or ext3 file system. Now,download a free software from android market called 'link2sd'.
Advantage of using this is that you can select which apps to move to sd or which to not.You can also link any apps to sd-ext partition.
If I helped helped you press thanks.
If I use this how much space will I have left to store music and such or will this use let the whole 2 Gb be used and then use some of that for storing cache and such

If you have a 2gb card you can make a partition (for eg.512mb ext3 partition)by using the above mentioned ways. You can only link any application to that partition only. However you can force move any app to sd card by using link2sd.In that case some software may gets functionless if they are not meant to move to sd(here you can apply 'link'function of link2sd.)
Advantage of link2sd over darktreamer app2sd or s2e is that you can select which part of the app (app, data or delvic cache) should be linked to sd.Moreover it is the most easiest method.
Apps 2 sd in stock v20a
How can we do this? Am I right in thinking that I can use rommanager to create a partition on the internal sd card? If that is correct then is it not possible to create a partition on external sd to move apps to? Otherwise it would seem pointless because the phone install apps to the internal sd anyhow, So creating a partition to it would be pointless no?
Anyone can shed any light on this fr me as I am just guessing so far?
Anyone know if its possible to swap internal sd and external sd like we can in Cm to get more room?
Thanks if you can help,
Use link2sd and external sd partition method
If you want to move games data to external sd use Foldermount
Both requires root
Search in google you will get more info

That's not what I mean. Link 2 sd just moves game data. I was wanting to swap mounts for internal to external so all apps install to the external 32gb sd card. Or a partition to do it. I use the above programs but I also need more space for installing the apk's.#
In CM you can swap intenal and external in build prop to get the phone to use the larger external card as internal app storage. This does not work in JB if you edit the build prop.
I need a similar way for JB as CM roms are no good for me because of the hdmi output problem (rotation bug).
Has anyone had luck swapping the mounts in JB?

But 16gb is more enough for installing apk
You can move your games data to external sd to save more space
Example: you can install the ironman3 apk in internal sd it's takes about 35mb and move the 780 mb obb data to external sd with foldermount
