[Q] I9001 AOKP JellyBean Alpha 2 and play store - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm posting my problem here because having less than 10 posts I cannot post in the right thread/forum.
I'm using a custom ICS rom (Cyanogen and MIUI) on my I9001 since I bought it. The last week I moved to AOKP JB without any serius problem.
Today I relized that I can install apps only via the palay store app, but if I try to use the website from my PC to manage the JB device I get this error:
"“You haven’t accessed the Google Play Store app on your device with this email account.""
(I cannot paste the error URL because of the same 10 post restriction!)
Is this normal on this JB rom?
Thanks
Beppe

[Q] stock apps

hello i installed cyogenmod 7.2 gingerbread 2.3.7 but i cant find some of my stock apps like memo is there a way that i can get them back
who can help me
Hello!
Well, of course are these "stock apps" gone if you install a "custom rom"...
Some stock apps won't even run on CM7, like the LG-weatherapp.
There are packages with the stock apps on the net - but I have no link handy right now.
Best tip is to use alternatives from the market.
Another question i cant activate my android market because he cant get info from my gmail do i have to change a setting or something to let it work and if i want to instal whatsapp he gives app not installed can whatsapp work on this rom and my pc dont has any driver found if i plug my mobile into the pc knows anyone a update or somthing
Who can help me with this
have you installed google apps? if not you can find a link in the first post of the cm7 thread.
flash it in cmw like cm.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
+1
You must instal google apps.
Hello!
You can find the newest version of gapps here (look for version for Android 2.3.7):
http://www.mediafire.com/temasek
And yes - whatsapp is of course working with this ROM.
Almost any app working on GB should work...
My optimus 2x is now running without any problemen
Thanks for the help

[Q] Samsung Apps on Team ICSSGS RC4.2

Unfortunatly i can´t ask in the thread itself, due to the fact that i have less than 10 posts...
Anyway - is there a possibility to use the SamsungApps app-store on RC4.2?
No, there isn´t.
But you can try the RC 3.1. (also pretty stabel) and flash the Samsung Apps files provided by the XDA user Jarmezrocks.
Here´s the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456724
Thank you, but i were on 3.1 before and dont want to go back.
I backed up the downloaded apps (mostly games) and restored it on 4.2 .
For now it´s ok...
Can i use the Samsung-apps from Jarmezrocks for any deodexed ICS rom?

tesco galaxy mini

Hello folks
Im enjoying my Gs3 lately but my step daughter isnt enjoying her galaxy mini so i swapped my ported wave 1 and shes loving it lol anyway i now have this galaxy mini can i update the software by porting the phone or does it need to be unlocked from tesco first? its asking for a network lock control key? i can dismiss as there is an option to dismiss and play about with the phone its currently android version 2.3.5 build number "GINGERBREAD ,XWKS7" im in ireland thanks
there's no need to unlock network or bootloader. as you're already on gingerbread, just flash cwm with odin and then pick your poison (rom) you can find all tutorials and guides somewhere around without any problems, just don't ever use rom manager, it tends to brick galaxy mini when you flash cwm with it.

you're welcome, i use cyanogenmod 10.1 as a daily driver, it's good for me. drains battery quite quick, but other than that it's almost perfect please don't start "best rom, recommend a rom" threads, as they're not allowed and are getting closed

i have cyanogenmod 7 on the mini now but do i need 10.1 to have google playstore? i want to get some apps etc
edit update
OK i have to do this "Optional: Place any supplemental packages (eg Google Apps or kernel) .zip file(s) on the root of the SD card."
which over looked in the install guide so here goes the 10.1 attempt lol
oh my brain lol i had cm-7 flashed on the samsung mini and was working away fine but no google play store
and only android keyboard so i realised i needed other zip files to have other features so i found these tass-recovery-cwm.tar
cm-7-20130201-NIGHTLY-tass.zip
Samsung_Keyboard_CM7_En-It-Es-Pt.zip
Trans-Soft-Buttons-Nightly-08192012.zip
gapps-gb-20130109-signed.zip
when i reflashed the phone etc the phone firstly ended up with no keyboard despite having the android keyboard selected when i go into language and keyboard settings it backs up to the main menu so i tried again and now its stuck in some kind of boot loop.
ive put this stock rom (MJKT3_annson08) on now and it seems fine but can anyone advise whats happened with my cm-7 setup which was fine the first time but as i said i only had android keyboard and no play store etc the fix seemes easy but its not working for me thanks
i guess that the keyboard you flashed was faulty, and to have play store and such you need to flash gapps_gb package instead of samsung keyboard, try downloading swype

Few CM 11 questions
Hello, I've used my Galaxy Mini for more than 4 years, but I hadn't known, that it could run also another OS than the default one pre-installed by Samsung. But suddenly, I've found CM and this forum about it. I've made some research, but because I'm beginner with CM, I have few questions:
1. In the description on the thread for the CM 11 for Galaxy Mini there is written, that the development is currently in the testing/alpha2 state. There is also a wishlist of missing features. But the there is also written, that the last update was in January, 2014. If I compare it to Androidarmv6 download archive and its GitHub repository, is seems there already are newer versions out. My first question is, if the most recent version of CM 11 for Galaxy Mini is more stable than that 1 year old alpha2 release? Which missing features from that wishlist have been already resolved?
2. And if the CM 11 version is not stable enough for everyday use, which older (but still based on Android 4.x) and more stable CM version would you recommend me to use instead (if any - otherwise I'll install official CM 7.2)?
3. I noticed, that there is already the official alpha release of CM 12 (based on Android 5.x) and also ported as a new branch on GitHub. I also know, that Android 5.x is really hardware-demanding. Will it be still possible to run CM 12 on Galaxy Mini phone? And what about CM 11 or 10? Could you recommend me the most stable and the newest one (see 2nd question), but still working on so low-performance device as Galaxy Mini in default is (384 MB RAM, 600 MHz, ...)? And if not, could you recommend me some web article describing how to make the performance of my phone better in order to run that recommended CM version from my previous two questions (if it is possible somehow)?
4. And finally, I want to ask, if I need to root my device before installation of that recommended CM version. Because in the installation manual from the original Samsung firmware to the official CM 7.2 there is no need to root Galaxy Mini during process and in the installation manual from CM 7.2 to CM 11 too. But in the installation manual from the original Samsung firmware directly to the CM 11 there is rooted phone needed. I don't understand, why I don't need rooted phone for indirect installation, but for direct installation I do. Could you clarify me the installation process?
I hope somebody experienced helps the beginner there (but good programmer and advanced Linux user) with the installation of CM by answering these a little bit complicated questions

Are you sure your device is galaxy mini/pop s5570? There is no "i" at end? If both yes, then go ahead and read my answers.
Answers:
1. The op(member of androidarmv6 group) isn't active. Thats why the thread says alpha. But you can download and install latest tass(galaxy mini) version from androidarmv6 jenkins. And about feature list, everything is fixed from that list, but camera is colorless(black and white type pics). You need tls enabled recovery to flash latest cm11.
2. Cm11 is stable enough for daily usage. But cm11 is resource hungry. I would recommend you to try cm11 and make your own decision about it. Every android version <= 4.2.2 are fully stable and everything works. I use aokp 4.1.2 myself. 4.2.2 is a bit heavy but if you don't use too many apps, you could use it without any problems. Cm9, ics aosp, cm10,slimbean,aokp jb4.1.2 roms are most efficient 4.x roms and less resource hungry. For better results and good performance, you may need to install greenify. See my threads for 4.x roms.
3. Cm12 isn't booting yet. You can follow review.androidarmv6.org for latest changes and progress. Better use aokp 4.1.2 or slimbean or cm10 with greenify and int2ext(to expand internal memory, you need to create 512mb ext4 partition on sdcard).
4. It is not that hard to flash a simple zip. There is a thread here in galaxy mini section which describes how to root galaxy mini. Follow that tutorial. Then flash cwm 5.0.2.8 recovery(search in and download from galaxy mini section) it from stock rom recovery.
Then you are ready to install any galaxy mini roms.
Caution: Don't flash any zips outside galaxy mini section. Our device board name is "tass". So, you'll see tass in filenames and they are for galaxy mini/pop s5570. If you flash wrong zips, you'll end up with bricked phones(a paper weight). So, be careful. Have a happy flashing.

Is jenkins the download.androidarmv6.com site? Or jenkins.androidarmv6.com? But on the second site I don't see download link, even if I login with my GitHub account. And what is tls enabled recovery? Does it mean using CWM recovery? Or am I wrong?

Thank you for your answers to my questions! Actually many thanks!
And finally one more question:
I've seen more threads about Galaxy Mini roms in this xda section. And in almost all of them is written, that everything works, just there are problems using camera. It looks like this is a global problem. Is this problem only in CM 11 at the moment and group members only aren't active to cross the camera out from the "Don't work" list on threads for roms, which were resolved? Or is it still global problem? In which roms camera fully work without any caveat? You wrote, that everything in Galaxy Mini section <=4.2.2 is fully stable, so I expect it works there, but better to ask...

Search androidarmv6 jenkins in google.
Camera in cm11 actually works but it uses source built libcamera, not the original samsung libcamera. And it gives a very colorless pics. No, androidarmv6 people are very nice. Just they are busy. And we don't have a skillful developer left.
And yes, every version <= 4.2.2 has got everything working as it should. But the video recording isn't good sometimes(only sometimes, it is not good anyways).
I would recommend you to try my aokp 4.1.2. Partition your sd card, install cronmod int2ext to expand ur internal memory (int2ext only not int2ext+). And install xposed installer + greenify, greenify not so important and ram consuming apps. That's my setup actually.
Good night

I haven't time before, so today I managed to install a new ROM to my Mini six months after I wrote here. First of all I spent hours of googling and searching, where to download working package to root my phone and where to download cwm 5.0.2.8 for Mini, because all of the packages for rooting haven't been working at all and all of the download links to cwm 5.0.2.8 I've found were dead, except the links and except the packages here. Googling and searching finally helped, so I had my first cwm on my Mini. Then I've checked first three ROMs from the Mini's section. Concretely CM 10, SB 3.1.0 and AOKP JB 4.1.2.
First of all I've tried Slimbean. I was really confused, when I found out, that there is no keyboard inside the installation! What the h*** (sorry, but I really said that when at that moment)? One of my reasons to leave original Gingerbread was that really bad keyboard, which I need to reinstall by some from Google Play every time I had to reset my phone into factory settings (another reason to upgrade btw). And after upgrade again? But Slimbean looked really well, just a few strings weren't translated to my language, so I decided to try AOKP. AOKP hadn't just keyboard, but also gapps, so I needed to google, where to download it from. I've found this and hoped it can't break my newly installed ROM. And there were more strings untranslated to my language, so I decided to try the third one, CM. It was fully translated, but also there weren't gapps and keyboard. And the patch (if it was a patch) - tether patches.zip - couldn't be applied (some error was thrown during its installation).
Finally, I've found gapps for it too. The winner of these three was Slimbean, the loser was AOKP, but I'm going to test more ROMs, until I find some good one. In order to avoid searching the Mini's section another hours: Is there any ROM with preinstalled keyboard (and possibly gapps too)?

I used this one. Its dev developed JB keyboard too, but it wasn't compatible with GB anymore. Is there any package for this or JB one or I need to install them from Google Play?
I found out that AOKP just needed to restart to be fully translated, so it is a little bit ok than CM (but SB still wins).
I'd like to try some 4.0 ROMs and some 4.2 ROMs (just to try, like yesterday). I saw here some threads about english only ROMs. I'll try them and maybe find my favourite. Is there any chance to build my language version after that? I know there is big red notification This is english only! (You have been warned...!). I don't want to waste your time for so minor things. Feel free to reject my potential request at the beginning.

You can add your language translations to apks inside the rom. ics,jb keyboards won't work on gb. There is a cm10.1 version from androidarmv6 team, try it. It has all languages. To build only your language, then you need to sync sources and modify build files to get your language.

Thank you, I'll search the CM 10.1 from androidarmv6 team and try it. The keyboard looks like ICS, but worked fine in factory firmware GB. I think it could work in this CM 10.1 too. If I install it from Google Play to the CM 10.1 ROM, it will work, or not? But I don't know, how to change the apk into the zip, that can be installed from cwm.
Thank you for your all help. Six months ago I thought it will be so complicated, but it is easy if one follows the rules not to make a bricked phone.
Edit: I tried this and it is totally awesome. The best I've tried. I'll test it for a longer period. My favourite keyboard is inside, first time in my Mini's life I don't have to reinstall that bad original GB keyboard. I just hope it won't be so battery and RAM consuming (I'll test it). I ask here if I have some question or problem in the future. Last time huge thanks (in words and in thank buttons too)

I tried it, the performance is better, but there is a huge problem. I install it in this way:
boot into cwm 5.0.2.8 >
wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, battery stats >
flash cm10.1 you suggested >
flash yourzgapps >
flash int2ext >
fotmat sd-ext >
reboot
After reboot cm10.1 boots and at the beginning works like a charm. Int2ext works as expected, 1/5 from memory used. But after 2-3 minutes int2ext stops working and I have full memory. Reboot or int2ext reinstallation don't work. Why? How could I fix it?

boot into cwm 5.0.2.8 >
wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, battery stats >
flash cm10.1 you suggested >
flash yourzgapps >
flash int2ext >
fotmat sd-ext >
reboot
After reboot cm10.1 boots and at the beginning works like a charm. Int2ext works as expected, 1/5 from memory used. But after 2-3 minutes int2ext stops working and I have full memory. Reboot or int2ext reinstallation don't work. Why? How could I fix it?

Don't format sd-ext after flashing int2ext. One factory reset is enough.
Try this way:
1. Goto recovery and make factory reset/wipe.
2. Flash rom and reboot system(let it boot first).
3. Again goto recovery, mount all partitions and flash int2ext.
4. You can also flash gapps now. Reboot system now, and start your setup.

I had formatted sd-ext, because it is written in int2ext installation steps. Finally I tried your suggestion and everything works. I just flashed gapps right after flashing OS, because I want Google's first boot guide. I'm so happy everything works like a charm on that older, but good Mini. I'm also happy I got rid of that buggy GB. Once more thanks.

Memory leak?
First of all thank you very much to everybody who has been taking apart of developping this rom. It works generally really well. However my SGS has developped some sort of memory leak. During usage it starts litle by litle to loose amount of available memory and at the same time the amount of preloaded apps to memory is also shrinking(according to settings). Eventually available memory goes under 50Mb and phone slows down to unusable. Restart fixes the problem. Sotimes it works days or even a week sometime less.
This same problem aready existed with he origial rom(2.2.1). Eaven after a factory reset it only worked well a couple of hours. Updated with odin to 2.3.6 but touchwiz launcher was freesing all the time. Installed CM11 trough CM9 and formatted system and wiped caches before C11 . Everyting seems to work well but the original problem still remains. Although it now works much longer than with the original rom.
Hardware problem? Some app causing this(only apps running all the time is whatsapp and smooth calendar(according to settings))? Time to buy a new phone?
viber
my viber dont work after install gapps
how i can fix this problem ?
getting status 0 error
hi,
i have sgs 1 i9000 international version
after flashing from stock kernel/rom android 2.3.6 to Semaphore_kernel_JVT_1.8.0 for root, i've got cm 9 (cm-9.0.0-galaxysmtd.zip) with Semaphore_ICS_1.3.0. if i try to go higher cm 10-10.2 or cm 11 i get error status 0 after tyring to install from sd card the zip. tried redownloading the zip. using different version from cm site.
still using semaphore kernel with cwm tried all versions installed with odin for JB for cm10 and KK for cm 11. still i get status 0 at install.
done the wipe cache dalvik and factory reset every time before install.
usually to escape the bootloop and reboot i flash the Semaphore_ICS_1.3.0 again as my rom remains unchanged(hopefully ) after the failed installs. isn't my device compatible with cm10-11. do i need another kernel/cwm version?

So now when you have CM9, you should flash CM10.2. It is normal that it first warns, as system partition will be enlarged.
So in fact you must flash it three times and reboot. First time it will only warn of data lost due to upcoming repartition. Second time it will only update recovery to CWM 6.0.4.5. Third time it will flash ROM and after that you must reboot the device.
After being booted into the OS once, you can install CM11. Recovery versions older than CWM 6.0.4.5 or TWRP 2.6.3.1 can not flash KitKat.

You are in totally wrong thread here, this is for Samsung phone i9000, Galaxy S, first version.
Find threads for your Tab, they have there also much nicer ROMs than Cyanogenmod.

Cannot go into CW recovery mode to load Cyanogenmod
Posted in wrong thread, long night, sorry
cm12 ????
Hello guys! This is my first post here. I couldnt read all 300+ pages thats why i wanted to ask you. I read only positive comments about this rom but I can not se anyone having Bettery drain problem. I installed the ROM 2 days ago and the battery is just draining so fast. For example yesterday I took my phone off the charger at 11:00am and until 04:00pm it had 15 percent battery remaining with only little using and browsing the web for like 5-10 minutes. I can't be the only one having this problem. In the settings I see the Google play services, android system and display are having the best percentage. Please give me some answer or solution to this. I cant use my phone for just few hours a day.
Problem with virginmobile after cm11 install
My apn is set to ee carrier, instead of virginmobile and my carrier shows as orange - uk carriers btw. I know vm piggyback on ee network but when I search for carriers hardly any show up. Is this a known problem and is there a fix (modem flash or other).
Is the nightly 11 version smoother when compared to the stable 10.2.1? What are the main bugs, if any?
Is there any way to make art runtime to work? I'm using the latest nightly but it stucks in bootloop each time i select art
Problem with touch-input
I have a question concerning a bug I am experiencing. Often I am not able to make any touch-command on the right wing of the screen, about 1cm, this is especially annoying when it happens during typing. I did not experience the same bug on the original firmware, I believe. The occurence is not bound to any special app, it even happens on the Home screen.
Is this a known bug and is anyone experiencing the same? Any suggestions what causes this?
Is there a way to increase the RAM and speed up the phone?
So I installed this ROM (11-20311118-UNOFFICIAL-galaxysmtd which is one of the older versions of CyanogenMod 11) on my Samsung Galaxy S i9000, but I encountered a few issues:
- I occasionally lose the Wi-Fi connection, and although it does reconnect itself in a short time, there is a problem with some online games — when the connection is lost, the game is lost which really bothers me.
- Some of the apps that seek a lot RAM memory to be used are really slow-running, like for example Snapchat — the back camera can barely be used and the snaps need much time to open.
- The screen can be unlocked without having to slide, that can be done by only pressing the button on the left side of the home button, which is probably a minor issue.
- Sometimes the phone just bricks when I get a call and I can't answer it, which is one of the major issues.
So, I wanna know if there is a way to fix these issues and maybe a way to increase my RAM memory or get Snapchat to work smoothly. Also, I wanted to ask if some of the newer versions of CyanogenMod 11 (KitKat 4.4) or any other ROM, like Jelly Bean 4.3 or the SlimCat ROMs, can fix any of the mentioned issues. What is the best ROM for my Samsung Galaxy S i9000?
Thanks in advance!

OK, mate.... you seem to be nice fellow, so I will try to help, answers in order of your questions:
if you have dirty flashed CM11 build (over older version without formatting /data and /system): did you try pawitp's reset of wifi settings from the bottom of the OP in CM11 thread? Otherwise also changing wifi region might help (settings/wifi/advanced)
the i9000 has indeed only total 512 MB memory, of which some 364 MB can be used normally. Well, you can increase these by flashing in recovery mode zips of Semaphore kernel for KK (3.4.3) and right after that BigMem libs for KK from Mackay KK ROM Thread. Then enable in the app "Semaphore Manager" (Play Store) BigMem option, reboot, and you will have by default 407 MB memory.
I fail to understand your last question: do you mean that the phone freezes, reboots, or "brick"? Bricking would mean that your OS fails and you have to flash ROM again or restore backup??
Good morning guys.
I use Mia ROM rooted fw 2.2.1 on my Galaxy SL i9003.
Can i flash directly this ROM on my device to update it or there are other best light ROM for my device?
Thank you
