Samsung has included an entire store system for S-Pen Apps. There are literally hundreds of apps, quantitatively and qualitatively on par with spam. None even enticed me to install in the first place.
The following features have enticed me:
- check: Intelligent drawing/Note-taking app. (S-Note does this perfectly)
- check: communication with a Whiteboard (e.g. Skype on PC supports this. In reality one would use the usualy route of communication and some HTML5 app for sharing scribbles in realtime )
- missing: remote desktop - would be awesome with the wacom digitizer. (will have to wait)
- perhaps flick gestures
Where is the creativity? Are there no decent third-party S-Pen Apps?

Think it's hard to find specific s-pen apps - just not enough weight of users to make devs target it. However, there's plenty of apps where having the s-pen is a big help. Image editing, clipping, selecting with freehand lasso, using drawing apps like PicSay / PicArt, etc.
I love TouchNote handwritten postcards - typing them looks crap! Even just for that app alone it's worth having the s-pen thrown in...
Lots of the drawing apps support the s-pen. Zen brush, autodesk sketchbook, I think the photoshop app does as well.
I've seen businesses use notes as POS to swipe a credit card and the s-pen for a signature. That's a pretty killer app, just not for the average joe.
I use a great Bosch app that lets you annotate dimensions (arrows with measurements) over photographs. Very useful on building sites. PDF annotation is quite handy too.

True. Autodesk provides this as well: Autodesk ForceEffect https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.autodesk.fbd.activities&feature=search_result
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.autodesk.forceeffectmotion&feature=search_result
I knew I had forgotten to list something. Book/ PDF annotation is crucial for me as well, and Adobe Reader handles this very well.
Spen in POS is a Killer feature as well, no doubt (registering pen pressure adds security and legal safety).
Artistic and technical drawing (CAM, CAD), - no argument there.
Are there other Killer applications?
There are three more scenarios ( gathered over the past 10 days) where a pen borders on being a necessity:
- Notetaking by capturing anything you see via the slicing-copy Pen feature. That includes the camera application - without actually taking a picture and tirelessly opening it for editing, cropping and whatnot. One can easily see how this is a notetakers dream actually. Tip: Get a lightweight, fast starting camera app. The preset resolution does not matter in startup speed. ( You can thank me if you find this as useful as me. )
- Nonmobile flash applications which require hover as an input! I am sure some of you did come around those eventually.
- Nonmobile HTML5 applications which require hover as an input!
For notetaking I like Papyrus, it's straightforward and is pressure sensitive. For PDF annotations the best I could find is ezPDF Reader Pro, has tons of features besides that.
Sketchbook have pressure sensitive, but you need to chose the right brush for that.
And with the last updated,s-pen is fully supported, but you need to activate it in settings.
I have another one s-pen apps is "infinitePainter" specially develloped for the N7000!
this apps is very good, but lot of bug in it.
The dev working hard on it to avoid bug and make a good job.
This apps is pay but the creative experience give multi possible way, because the really good point of this apps is,that you can make your personal brush !!
By the way. Whatever happened to AIRVIEW (the hover-preview). It doesn't make sense from a maintenance standpoint to have seperate branches of the apps for GN1 and GN II. I think Airview is another Killer feature for "hover".
Does anyone have Air-view running properly (especially on JB ROM)?

Hi,
Am pretty new to Android and came across this really nice App/Widget called ColorNote. An all in one package that has a lot of features and comes in a reasonably sized package.
I'm sure many of you are already using this. The reason for the post however is not to promote this, but to ask if anyone either knows of a way to contact the author or know of an alternative to this.
What I need is an app with all the features of the above, but with a widget that is NOT a sticky post, but with something like a flip pad. That is the widget shows page 1 of the notes and then I either click an up/ down arrow to move between pages or click on the tip of a page to move between them as in the app here -> http://www.appbrain.com/app/simple-notes/hu.monsta.simplenotes
Can someone help me?
Thanks
Evernote is one of the best note taking apps. You can do voice notes, text notes and pictures. Web, desktop and phone apps. My only real complaint is that you can't write checkable lists on the phone app, but they are adding new stuff all the time. Oh and it doesn't have a widget, but you should still check it out.
springpad is also pretty good.. has awidget where you can scrol through different notes...
I use colornote for checklists. I like it. Its very clean and easy to use.
I have been trying to embrace the cloud using Springpad on my phone, CR-48 (meetings/note taking computer at work), my W7 work desktop and my Macbook Pro personal laptop. It's been working out well so far.
Colornote is nice for taking quick notes, like during a meeting or something.
For everything else, I also use Springpad. In the past I've gone through Catch (formerly 3banana) and Evernote both but I feel that Springpad is superior to all of them.
Just to add an extra choice, I've been liking Simplenote
Andronoter is a free Android client of it, www.simplenoteapp.com is the web interface.
Just looking for something that make use of the full screen on HC. I liked an app I saw on my landlord's iPad that looked like an old legal pad. Just select a previous note or start a new one and start typing away.
Evernote. google docs. Wunderlist
Handrite: https://market.android.com/details?id=my.handrite
I use it a lot.
Quick note https://market.android.com/details?id=com.diigo.quick_note&feature=search_result
I use it everyday and makes use of the HC interface.
Just tried handrite based on the suggestion and it is really great.
GTasks is pretty good. Syncs with Google Tasks.
I got Catch. It's designed for Honeycomb and in addition to text notes, it allows you to add voice and photo notes. I believe it's a paid application. Has a convenient simple widget too.

I'm using the free version. You can also add hash tags to make it easier to file/find your notes.
I am looking for a to-do list app with following features for my g-note:
1) at the front/back of the to-do list, show what time to do it.
2) checkmark if the task is completed.
3) if the task not done on the planned day, it will show up next day. maybe with different color.
4) large widget size.
5) date should be customizable.
Anyone aware of such an app?
Try "Any.do". quite similar to what you are looking for.
Try "due today". I think it does everything you're looking for and looks nice too.

Why use an android only app. With the note, use a better highend Web tool like toodledo.com or rtm. I use toodledo and it is great and I can use it on any device. Apps are great, but one of the best things about the note is having no frustration with using pro Web apps.

Toodledoo doesn't have widgets as it isnt an Android App. It's a web app and a backend, but there are several apps which sync with Toodledoo.
Right now, Play Store is announcing 2Do: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.guidedways.android2do
But there are lots more:
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=toodledo&c=apps
I think Todo.ly has most if not all these features, and there is a neat little android app that syncs with the web service.
Above a certain number of tasks, or to get certain features, I think it's a subscription service tho.
Again I suggest you try toodledo first on your computer, then set it up as a bookmark on your phone. On the Note it looks great. Then if you like it, you can make it a short cut - and what do you know, something that seems like an app. Only issue is if you can get a connection. But that works on any computer device you want. Read your todo list on anyones computer if you need to. Apps are great but - I never use an app when the web will do. Same for me and google docs. I know then I have the cloud and the internet behind me. My phone dies, my data is safe and accessible anywhere on anything.
Side Note
There is a movement ( i generally support) where some folks call apple and android apps (mainly from large corporations) 'the anti-internet' - because many corporations are filtering the www world ( or own the ads) by making apps to stuff that is right there on the web anyways (a news radio station app for instance) but filters or dumbed down or controlled. They would love to get rid of the more open internet, and they worry that you might keep other windows open or you can ad block or click to other sites - so they want to filter and control you with there nice UI but filtered app. I love apps that do something, but if it is a refilter of the web - well I would rather put up for a slightly worse UI to get the real unfiltered internet. And of course with the Note ( size, pen, ...) it is easier to look at real webpages ( why I got it). google docs and toodledo are two examples of web over app.
DGT GTD
Universal 5★ app with all features your looking for and more.
Nothing really approaches it on the Market.
Just thought I would ask the question.
Do people use their Note to draw or write?
If you write do you use a specific software or the samsung installed keypad?
Just curious to hear some input.
I use an application called graffiti pro.

i find it difficult and disappointing to take notes in classes or in meetings using S-memo app as touching the menu and/or back button happens almost everytime unless im extra carefull and focusing not to touch them , which in one way or another , counters the idea note taking freely...
dont get me wrong , this device is awesome , and i love it , but software wise its.......meh . it only lacks a few simple points and touches on the main apps it was promoted with... (simple palm rejection!? , or rejection of finger touches with the S-pen is active in the screen!? ,2 way automatic syncing or backup!? )
i know there r some market apps that can do that , but why Samsung just couldn't just do it with the bundled s-memo app ??? its not only about sketching and pressure sensitive points , those worth nothing as a "Note" taking device in my opinion.
Why not try FreeNote from Android Market instead of S-Memo? Freenote seems to be a bigger brother of S-Memo and it can easily "share" (which means, export) its notes to any app that can accept graphic files. I hope FreeNote keeps evolving, as it seems to have great potential!
Quite handy when getting a phone number on the fly or anything in that manner. I also write my grocery lists in here. And I'm using it quite often right now because of the Draw Something game.
Skitch + evernote combo works quite well for me
loads
I do a lot now. I also use skitch as I have everything in evernote.
The feel for me is that it is 'natural' to lift the Note and write a note . It looks and feels just like a pocket notepad. My writing is probably not as good as pen & paper, but with some effort it is passable.
The alternatives are tedious and intrusive. I either hold it two-handed and thumb-type, use swype, or have a BT keyboard. All are OK, but for some reason it is harder to concentrate on other people when typing.
In a meeting or conversation, the natural note-taking wins every time, as it is less intrusive and allows you to focus more on the people you are talking to, I find. YMMV.

Cluttered user interface on LG G2
after first run the user interface is rather cluttered with text behind the icons etc.
after doing the first capture it seems like the UI is improved, but all text is now missing.
Should be some attachments that gives you more into detail what happens.

I like the idea
I tried it in my Samsung Galaxy Mega and it had some difficulties. I was able to take a picture but when I tried to enhance the photo the app closed. Tried this several times. I'll keep playing around with it and see if there is a way to make it work.
Is it possible to connect the phone with pc and then it would work like a scanner if it can then it will be more awesome... :what: :what: but still its a awesome discovery and creation.... by you...:thumbup:

Great work.. !!.. scanned documents are more clear.. more user friendly :good:
App is good
Comes in handy some times.
seems to work as described. thanks! great app!
Really handy bc at the hospital, they seem to be stuck in the fax era, so this is a nice way to get documents to people without having to find a fax machine
great app. very handy and easy to use.
thanks
Looks like a useful app!
What I didn't like in a quick check:
- I don't like the 3D carousel view, an option to have a simpler view would be useful.
- after the edges were marked it asked me to press OK, sometimes it takes very long to accept 'OK' (or process), sometimes doesn't respond to OK at all.
likes:
- good filters to improve resulting scans
- raw image is kept for later edit
It would be easier if I could zoom in the image to determine the edges. Btw its very handy, good job.
