Stop apps from checking for updates - Motorola Droid 3

How do you stop apps from checking the market for updates and how can apps that have been installed on my phone just stop working and force you to update?
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA

I use Autorun Manager and uncheck most receivers for apps that connects for upgrades or looks for advertisements. Also uncheck those that tries to last on memory even when you kill them.
But if you are saying about Google Play updates, look for version that upgrades only when wifi is on, or set apps for manual updates.
Hope this helps.

How to automatically check for updates on apps?

I downloaded a LOT of apps since purchasing my MyTouch...do i really have to do anything to update these progs or is there an autoupdate somewhere?
You should get auto notifications when there's an update for the apps you have installed. Then you chose to install or not.

[Q] Unable to download from market with 3G

I have the Droid 3 and recently updated to 5.6.890.XT862 before the push and now unable to download anything from the Android Market only using 3G. I get the orange triangle stating : Download size requires Wi-Fi. Does not matter size of download.
I am able to download via Amazon appstore with 3G. Also once connected to Wi-Fi downloads work fine.
Any suggestions? is this a glitch with the S/W update?
Thanks
Settings > Battery & data manager > Data Saver, turn it off
I love it when its something dumb that I did. Thanks for the help.
I am also on a "pre released" .890 update and now the Market doesn't inform me of app updates.
I was browsing the market last night and noticed at least 5 app updates on my own. Every app was checked for automatic updating, and I checked my Market settings and the "Notifications" check box is absolutely checked! WTF.
That's been happening to me lately. I read about a google maps update and when I went to "My Apps" it didn't have any update available. I had to search for google maps then it had the update tab. It has done this on about 3-4 apps so far that I've noticed.
edit: I just noticed that I can't install any of my paid apps in the market unless I uninstall the market app update and install everything that I want until the market updates itself. I have no custom rom, latest .890, and rooted (no apps deleted/frozen). Any idea's?
edit 2: I turned off my wifi and market is working fine on 3g. I can download paid apps over wifi with older market app but not new market. I can download free apps from the market with wifi on. Weird?

I use a supplemental market called appbrain... A lot of times, I notice when I open that, it finds updates that the gmarket either normally wouldn't have found, or is just slow about doing it's job... :/

How to avoid play store update for an app

Hi
The latest google search crash on my rom, so I don't want to update it from play store, but I don't know how to disable the update for the apps that I want. I tried to detach from market with titanium but still wants to update it.
any idea?
if you go to Google Play, select the app, there is check box that can disable automatically updating. You'll still get a push notification of the update, but you can clear it and won't show up till a reboot.
There is setting within Google Play to change autoupdate for all apps too.

No, that's not that I wanted to ask.
I have auto-updates disabled, but when I go to "my apps", play store shows all my apps that needs to be updated, if I click the update button, all of them starts the update, I want to play store don't show that app so it will never update.
Right now I need to update all of them, then look to search and then cancel that one.
Its just like he said on the new play store auto update is under options on the particular app screen if you uncheck that that app wont update on you..i know dor a fact because i have a few apps set that way...wallet in particular because the new play store auto set everything to auto update and screwed mtly wallet up for a bit and i had to find the auto uodate option.
I don't know of any other way. You may want to try to side load the application. I know the apps I side load, which are not available in the US, don't update the usual way. Some I was to get when you could still use MarketEnable and other similar apps. This has been my experience with NFL Game Pass, BBC iPlayer, etc. They don't show up having an update. I have to go to all apps in the my application list, and manually check all app, and manually update those apps that show an update is available.
I'm not saying it'll work. It's just might do what you're seeking.
Also, TB did an update and had something about delinking. You may want to give it another try.
Personally, I had a few apps I didn't want to update. I would either update the apps I wanted one by one. Otherwise, when I hit update all, I would just hit the one I didn't, and hit stop update. Hopefully, the app wasn't the first to be updated.

Google Music - Always ON - HELP

I have recently noticed that "Google Music" is always running when I check Active Application via Task manager.
Even if I End it manually it gets on again automatically even when I have not used this particular app.
I am on official latest JB and I have done things like restart phone and manually stopping it from application, but all in vain.

Cmon u mean everybody have same problem and they all install sum app frm store to circumvent it - Not possible.
There has to to be sum normal fix within phone - Maybe sum more ppl can chime in
Its a google app like play store and maps. It will always run in the background. There is a way, root your phone, delete the apk from system app so that it becomes a normal app and use greenify to hibernate the app. So far tested on maps, google music, google search and google plus. Apps were hibernated when not using and able to launch like a normal app.
Tried on play store and play services. End up in a laggy phone and hangs till i did a restore. So stay out of these 2 app.

Google Maps Updates no matter what your settings are

I use an OLD version of Maps. It's simple, I'm used to it, so I stick with it.
Recently the Maps app started updating itself without prompt, without me going to the Market and selecting it. It updates despite the fact I have "don't auto update" set for all my apps on the Market app. I disconnected it from the Market in Titanium Backup but that only lasts for a short time as you probably all know. I found a setting in TB where some items were set for auto update and I turned ALL of them off (including Maps). Then today I found it had updated itself back to the current version again.
I've tried everything I know of. I have currently frozen the Market app to see if that will prevent an update. But you know what? I'm sick of this, and I'm trying out Nokia's Here Maps.
Just for update purposes, freezing the Play Market app did not stop a self-update of Maps.
I then googled again, and found a mention of stopping changes to another app by editing the properties of the APK to "read only". I have gone in with Root Explorer and turned off Write Access for the google maps apk. That was one day ago, so I will see how that works. It's apparent that the update must be through the Maps app itself if not some push update from Google.
