[Q] [GT-I9000 - CM10] No Enter PIN - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have an issue on my Galaxy S I-9000
I have CM10 (nigthly 3 Dec)
My problem is when phone starts (reboot, power on, reset) my phone does not ask me to enter PIN number.
Consequently I don't have network access.
The only way to get this is to connect few seconds my phone to USB cable to my laptop.
I do nothing more than connect it (I don't press OK to accept USB connexion), only wait few seconds.
Then I type my code PIN, everything works perfect!
The problem is always when I restart, reset my phone... I need my USB cable to get the Enter PIN window...!
Note that my SIM card works very well in the Nexus phone of my wife.
Her SIM card has the same problem than my mine in my Galaxy S...
I tried several times. It works only in official release Gingerbread, but not with CM10.
I updated Modem to radio-cm7-BUJV5-signed.zip (my operator is SFR), same result...!
Does any one can help me to solve my problem?

New inputs
Hello,
Here is new input: I noted that it is not USB connection with PC activating the "Enter PIN" windows and network but it is USB power presence on USB connector. When I connect only my battery charger on USB connector after few seconds I've got the "Enter PIN" !!!
Anyway this does not solve the issue... but it is easier to manage
I've checked my efs folder:
Code:

May be the efs folder is not mounted / activated after startup and for any reason the USB power connection activates it.
Does anyone can help me? Terminal command line maybe?
Regards,

I found and read this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813559 but franckly speaking it is hard to follow (I'm not a native english speaker)
My problem looks like I don't have correct IMEI on startup or efs folder is not mounted, but I did not read anywhere that USB power supply can activate correctly my IMEI (if I type #06# my number starting by 3544060... is displayed).
Please I need expert support to understand my issue and get a fix :good:
Thank you very much

EFS
You need your EFS data / IMEI.
Flash an original ROM via Odin - this should reestablish your /EFS data
Then take a backup of your EFS data (I think you need to root your device first)
EFS data is in the root folder: emmc/modem/efs
Have a copy on your SD card or computer so that you anytime can restore these data (includes your IMEI number)
- and thereafter you may install CyanogenMod again ...
Good luck

THANK YOU to answer me!
Just to be sure I correctly understand what you wrote:
1/ With odin I flash original ROM: I have a JV4_JV4_JV4.tar (289Mo: 303*565*312 bytes). Is it OK? Do I need to repartition (pit 512)?
2/ Then I need to root it: I have CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS.tar (7Mo: 7*383*040 bytes). Is it OK?
3/ Then I need to save efs folder (for instance with SGS tool box on Play store)
4/ Install CyanogenMod 10 again
5/ Wait and see...!
Correct?

I have a similar problem, but only when installing KB3 modem.
The phone asks for the PIN, but nothing happens. It seems that the SIM is blocked.
No problem by flashing JVU or JW4, and with the stock one.
Any ideas?

Does the NTRW utility generally get a device error?

I used the ntrw utility to back up my SD card backup from my Blue Angel. I dont see the E drive showing in Windows Explorer but thats what drive it should be. I use this command:
ntrw read XDAIII.nb1 E:
results are:
NTRW v2.00
Removeable media
Cylinders: 0:1
TracksPerCylinder: 255
SectorsPerTrack: 63
BytesPerSector: 512
bufsize is 65536
507379712 bytes written bytes: 0
ReadFile(): XDAIII.nb1 -- The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
Is it normal to see that error? I did get 500KB bytes written out which seems huge but maybe because I backed up my BA to a 521MB card.
Can anybody tell me if this looks OK, I dont want to chance restoring a corrupted image. Are there any docs for ntrw.exe?
Thanks.
I got the same type of error. did you ever get an answer?
after I try to backup the SD to my harddrive, I get this message/error:

I also posted a request for an answer at http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=151&PN=1
but have no replies as of yet...
but I also see in http://forum.xda-developers.com/vie...s=0&postorder=asc&highlight=readfile&start=75
Note that after finishing the copy from your SD card to your_rom.nb1 file ntrw might give you an error, just don’t pay attention to it.

I never heard any response and I did see that quote as well about the error at the end.

[FIX] Broken 5ghz Wi-Fi on OLYFR_U4_1.5.2

So, in a nutshell, Moto decided to update the Wi-Fi firmware on the feb 22 leaked .sbf and broke it.
Attached are the 2 firmware files from stock ROM to fix it (there are 3 in total, but only 2 changed)
Turn off Wi-Fi, replace the same files in /system/etc/firmware/wifi using adb or Root Explorer, turn Wi-Fi back on, et voila, working 5GHz.
Working hard at more hacks
so this is for better wifi? and if i have the adeo rom will this work?
The Atrix features a dual-band Wi-Fi radio capable of operating at both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. 5GHz is typically used in high-interference areas like my city which provides free Wi-Fi access city-wide. I can't get any range at all on 2.4GHz.
The leaked February 22 .sbf introduced a new Wi-Fi firmware which (probably not purposefully) disables 5GHz support. I've supplied the stock Atrix Wi-Fi firmware in which 5GHz support works correctly.
This won't help you at all if you don't have a router that supports 5GHz But you never know when you might get an opportunity to hop on a network that does, and your Atrix won't see it running the Feb 22 firmware.

No leaked SBF kills 5ghz wifi. So you need to push the old files back on to get 5ghz back.
It's the stock wifi firmware. The leaked SBF had a problem with 5Ghz wifi.
Another great hack... thanks much!
SBF??? sorry noob here kinda. XD

Hey what permissions should be on the files in the /system/etc/firmware/wifi directory?
cuz i only have this:
-rw-r--r-- root root 264070 2011-02-22 18:38 sdio-ag-cdc-full1
1n-minioctl-roml-pno-wme-aoe-pktfilter-keepalive.bin
if it might be connected to my problem once i put in the workign sim, which would be rather unlogical but still ...?
@crnkoj:
I don't think it's the problem, but here are the proper permissions as follows:
Code:
cd /system/etc/firmware/wifi

thk you for share~
I made a thread in the General subforum a few days ago about my phone not being able to detect my 5GHz network. Hopefully this will fix it.
EDIT: I copied the files over, but my phone still doesn't detect my 5GHz n-network.
So how do we know if we updated it to this? and is this the cause on why my phone's connectivity to wifi sometimes disappear even though my router is right next to me? im running adeo v0.1
... I'm confused. I'm on 1.5.2 (after a soft brick, woo!) and I can connect to my 5 GHz network just fine...?

Is your network n-ONLY, or mixed?
EDIT: nvm stupid question.
Thanks to the OP... copied the two files over with root explorer and now have 5ghz wireless...
Is this also broken on 1.2.6?
5Ghz isn't working on my Atrix with 1.2.6 SBF flash. I haven't tried this fix, but I am surprised that it isn't working on the stock SBF...
Edit: Reflashed SBF and when it said manually power up phone I restarted (twice!) the phone until it said complete (even though the phone booted automatically). Now it is working.

[Q] "No SIM" indication

Hi guys,
I've been trying to downgrade from OmniROM to stock and throughout the process I got to a situation where the device loads but I got no cellular communication ("no SIM" error is shown). Wi-Fi & BT work.
The device reports a correct IMEI (matching the sticker) when dialing *#06#. The SIM card was verified to be working well with another device.
I have no backup of /efs as none of the flashing guide I've ever followed mentioned it. I've got a nandroid backup made with CWM a few months back, but it contains no efs.img.
Checking /efs as it is now, it is properly mounted, but the content of nv_data.bin is different from the content of .nv_data.bak, and neither of the files' MD5 hash match their respective md5 files.
I'd appreciate any help or suggestion how to rectify the problem.
Many thanks in advance!
Following is a listing of of /efs as it is now:
Code:

Well, I discovered that luckily, somewhere along the process which rendered the cellular module nonfunctional, some software made an automatic backup of /efs - stored as efs.autobackup.img file, on the internal storage.
So, I used dd to overwrite the efs partition, and after a reboot without a SIM inserted, then and another reboot with a SIM inserted, the cellular module is now functional again.
The weird thing is that the MD5 of the nv_data.bin still doesn't match the hash in nv_data.bin.md5! Is that a problem?
same issue here too
hey, recently i encountered the same issue. could it be the rom? its is not detecting my sim card (cm-13)

my note has no service after trying to install cwm recovery using terminal emulator

hello guys .. i dont know if this is the right place to post this since this is my first post .. sorry .
my phone has no service .. i think some of the /dev blocks is corrupted .. tried restoring /efc using twrp but no luck .. i tried installing cwm using terminal emulator after downloading a marshmallow rom with a faulty recovery ..
so i want to ask .. does installing a stock rom reset the /dev blocks values ? or is there any other way that i can get my service back ? i searched threads but no luck finding any solution .. any help will be appreciated .. if you need any more info to help me just ask please .. and i tried doing so because i had no access to a pc at that time .. thank you

No luck... Been searching since I woke up... I have backed up /efs... Restoring it was supposed to do the trick. But it doesn't work... Nothing changes when I restore it... Tried flashing different kk roms but none of them work... Will try to flash stock rom once I get back home... Not in a hurry for a solution since this is not the phone I use everyday... Got a nexus 6p 2 weeks ago

Have you tried setting the permissions of the folder for the efs backup? the phone will not accept folders placed without the proper permission.
You should change permission of efs backup folder as AutumQueen92 mentioned above.

I don't think that's the right permission. Try rwx --- --- ? I'm not sure of the actual config but google should find some answers. Other than that, I can't help much.

My efs folder was corrupted .. Same goes for my dev folder .. Tried the first approach that any sane person would do .. Flash a stock ROM .. After lots of searching I found the n7000xxlso stock ROM and flashed it .. Everything worked like a charm .. Then I installed philz and flashed slimkat again .. Now everything is working

Double folders after update to latest factory image

Hello, since updating my rooted Pixel 5 to the November Image (via fastboot, flash-all.bat without -w switch) several folders in my internal storage are shown twice. The mentioned folders are in fact identical, if I create a file in one of them it also shows up in the other. After deleting a duplicated directory its twin is also gone but when I recreate it the twin gets resurrected as well.
Please see the following example (excerpt from ls -l in /data/media/0, called in an adb root shell):
Code:
drwx------ 2 u0_a250 u0_a250 3452 2020-11-08 14:31 Download
drwx------ 2 u0_a250 u0_a250 3452 2020-11-08 14:31 Download
After deleting the Download directory it looks like this:
Code:
d????????? ? ? ? ? ? Download
Any ideas how to solve this (without wiping)?
Thanks in advance.
Still nobody?
