[Q] Home button stop working - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I'm under 4.1.2 and since some times my home button (the middle one) stop working..
I have changed rom version from Cyanogen Mod 9 to slim rom etc ... to be sure it's not a rom problem.
Even under CWM it does not work.
Does someone know what hardware part I can change to fix this ?
Thanks for your help.

It's the button under the charging port. It could either be the part under the button itself or the board
EDIT:.. its actually under the screen and you will have to get the screen out. Check the video in my next post

Hello and thanks for your answer, but what do you call the board?

Check for anatomy of note in youtube, there are loads. May be you will find your info

Also if you can't get it working download an app called button savior or you can reassign it on many roms

[q] {request} a screen position change< plz >

Hi guys,
So, as the thread says, i am having a problem with screen positioning, its landscape mode and i want it to go portrait mode, BECAUSE i have a damaged X1, some microchip is damaged, and the only buttons working is the turn on button and the camera button, but everything which goes for the touch is working perfectly.
SO, when i start ANDROID system, i always get it in landscape mode, and as none of my buttons work, i cant just "slide out and slide in" the telephone to change the view, so is there any way to change the default starting view ? maybe to change some kind of code or line in settings ?

Yes , it will be, but i tried to repair it, i repairmans told, that this device is unrepairable... So i either throw it away or manage to use android ... Can anyone help ?
On some of the iPad knockoffs running android, they put only the home button on the device, and put software buttons for back and menu in the top right of the screen. Maybe you can find some way to get that?

As for the rotate, when I press the menu button on the home screen, it seems to realise that the keypad is in fact closed and rotate the correct way. So if you can get the menu button up there, then press that on the homescreen and it should rotate to the correct orientation.

You can maybe remap the keys like this:
Camera focus = back
Camera = home
Power = menu
But I don't know how to do it.
Sent from my MSM using XDA App
Camera focus is already mapped to back button in "Froyo FRG83 - Android 2.2.1 Beta-Release [06-11-2010] from neopeek", but camera is mapped to turn off.
Also with that configuration, how would you turn off your device or put it into standby?
@tads999 calm down dude. Remember that YOU need help, not us. So don't yell at guys that want to help.

Take out the battery to turn off.
Have a timer that enters standby after some minutes if nobody touch it and listen to all working keys so he can exit standby.
And if I would have his X1 I would be pleased if it could run Android.

[Q] (ICS) How to remap Search key to ICS recent apps? [SOLVED]

Hi guys, Im using Owains ICS KANG and found this cool tweak http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450138 in the Nexus S Forum and would like to know if someone can tell me how to apply it to the LGP990? I want to remap the search button to the ICS recent apps button. I know that pushing the home button for short time results in the same action, but Im not using the search button anyway and I would like to have a quick acces to the recentapps, but like I said I have no clue how to do it!
Thanks in advance
EDIT:
After working myself into the stuff I found the solution myself , for the people which had the same issue, you have to edit the file "nvodm_touch.kl" in system/usr/keylayout. There you have to search for "key 217" and replace the "SEARCH" with "APP_SWITCH", tada you have recent apps on the search button .
Greets Rob
Made a CWM Zip
good job , but cm9 you can hold "home" key for a moment, that will be recent task

[REQ] Softkeys for ICS

Now when we have nearly fully working ICS on our HD 2 I have one small request which is connected with the software buttons! Ever since I first installed Android on my HD 2 I am using Button Savior to operate with the phone ut since ICS already has software buttons I think it is not necessary to use third application to operate with the phone! My idea is if some one could modify the stock buttons and make them 4 in this order from left to right : home, tasks, back and power off! I will be very grateful if someone could make this possible! Thank you in advance!
AOKP ROMs have this already implemented, you can add up to 5-6 soft buttons I believe, and you can customize them with swipe actions and custom icons as well.

most ICS rom has softkey now, just try rom from Tytung or Xylo
and there also thread about modify soft key here.
make a search you will find

[VIDEO] Android 4.3 On-Screen Back Button Bug?

Sorry if this has been posted before, but couldn't find something similar.
I got this bug with my back on-screen key where when I press the back button, it functions as the multi-tasking/recent apps button. See the video for further reference.
Anyone else got this issue? All the time the back button acts as recent apps button. very annoying.

OFF-TOPIC:
Also, people have been discussing about the BLACK BAR bug but not many are able to understand what exactly we are trying to say.. so for them.. following is the video.

Its not the black bar bug/feature that is bothering me (that is why it was mentioned as something off topic) .. It's the back button. And i don't see many having this issue. Wonder why did my update bring this issue :s.. M all stock. Any suggestions might help me get the back button working again like how it's suppose to.

How to disable the physical home button?

Details of the device
I'm using the latest CM11 version from Novafusion.
Problem and steps I've taken
Currently I've got a problem where the home button intermittently activates on its own (but only long-presses, so if I disable long-press in the OS, it'll be fine for normal operation), without any interference. The side effect (which is my main issue) of this is that it means my phone's screen effectively turns on by itself 24/7, which is obviously bad for many, many reasons.
I'm asking whether there's anyway I can disable the home button? I've tried Android-HomeKey-Locker (can't link it, but the Google Play version of the thing on GitHub) but it hasn't done anything.
I'm aware I can turn on the software buttons, but they don't deactivate the physical buttons: and I only want to disable home anyway.
So my question is, is there any way of doing this? I can take the back and menu keys if needed.
Side note
Is it possible in anyway to bind long-press back to home? I asked this for CM12 a while back (and I've since downgraded), but is this possible with Cyanogen, as I've been able to do it with Carbon ROM on 4.4.4.
Hi! I currently use this app on CM 12.1 to enable softkeys and disable hardware keys:

sorry for my bad english
Hi
Try disable the home button by following this. it worked for me
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032117
Hey everyone,
Thanks for the help. Someone on reddit gave me a working solution by using Xposed Additions to remap the buttons how I wanted them to.
