[Q] Speakers - LG Optimus 2x

Hello everybody!
Creating this thread as couldn't find one which could answer my query.
As we know, our O2x or G2x has dual speakers. But my question is, do both of them work?!
I mean, only one speaker works on my O2x.

They both work on my phone, but not at the same time. Sound either comes through the earpiece speaker or the one on the bottom of the phone.

Yes, it's the same on my phone too! But i really wonder why have they given dual loudspeakers, if one of them doesn't work!

According to the User Manual there is only one speaker.

yes ,and if you unmount your phone ,you will see that the other grid is for the mic !
so their is one speaker at the top for the phone ,and one at the right bottom !

Optimus 2X have only one speaker....

one is microphone and the other is the speaker . At the beginning I thought too that it has 2 speakers but it has just 1

I suare to god it has 2 speakers LOL for one speaker its quite usable.:good:

The speakers are not evenly matched, and so no good for stereo. The earpiece speaker is much weaker than the louspeaker one on the bottom of the phone.
I've always wondered too why so many phones have two speakers, but they are never wired for stereo. I'm sure there would be some way of doing it - it's not like you are ever holding the phone next to your ear when you switch it to loudspeaker, so you could have a speaker that would go much louder there.

[Q] Built in speaker(s)?

As you all Optimus 2X owners can see there is two "speaker" holes with a net under the phone on each side of the Micro USB. Is these both holes suppose to be for speakers, or is one of them (the left one) just for mic?
I have sound only on the right one, and has been thinking about this for a while now...
I am not the only one with this right?
One is speaker, the other is the mic.

phew.. my speaker is not out of function then thanks for fast reply.
I was reading the manual too, but that didnt say where the speaker is...
This was one of the first things I noticed on the phone when I bought it... you would think that there should be dual speakers stereo sound on a dual core phone
Yeah, kind of bad it isn't stereo on such a high-end phone... But then again, the iphone 4 is constructed the exact same way and that's the most expensive phone there is. My old N900 had 2 speakers, one on either side, it did enhance movie watching somewhat, but mostly I just use headset anyway so doesn't really matter.

Why the hell did they put the big speaker on the back?

title says it all. I have to turn up the volume 3 times as loud just to hear a movie.
I'm no engineer, but wtf.
I use my bluetooth stereo headphones most of the time anyways, but it would be nice when to have to do that all the time.
Agree. We could conserve more battery juice if we didn't need to turn up the volume.

get the equaliser app from the market place it makes the speaker go so loud its really awesome there is a guide on XDA on how to set it up ill try to find the link and post it
Careful so you don't destroy the speaker.
and where on the face or side do you plan on putting the big speaker? lol.
Hah, well that's a completely different question
Moved to Q&A
This is a question, and as such belongs in the Q&A section
I don't know if this is the actual reason for having put it there, but with it on the back, it bounces sound nicely off of the table if it's face-up.
arent all speakers on the back of phones?
I completely agree with the OP. The speakers are the only gripe I have with the Note. I wish it had dual front speakers, like the BlackBerry PlayBook. I know that the PlayBook constantly gets ridiculed, but its stereo speakers are the best I've ever heard on a phone/tablet. If Samsung can rectify this 'problem', then the Note will be the greatest phone of all time.

nope. one of the reasons why i loved my n900 was that the speakers (yes, plural, it had two) were on the side. it wasnt the loudest or best speaker setup out there, but it created a nice enough soundfield for it to be enjoyable.
Yeah I loved that about my old n900, also the built in kickstand

Playbook is the best when it comes to speakers. And the only portable device to have such perfect speaker placement.

Speakers blown out?

So i was trying to get me speakers louder after the ota update lowered the volume and i installed the loud sound mods, soon I wanted to try out faux kernel and when I tried playing music it played for a couple seconds and then the phone made then loudest beep sound you could ever hear. I wiped my phone and flashed a new rom fresh, since then the speakers have been at a lower volume. One of the reasons I got this phone was for the speakers and it's loud capabilities. Judging my situation, do you think my speakers are blown out, if so is there any way I could get the tampered bootloader off the phone so I could send this in for return and get a replacement? Please help, thanks!

A speaker being blown is not it being lower volume. A speaker being blown typically means 2 things.
1) The speaker is no longer functioning at all
2) The speaker is making a horrific "tinny" noise while playing audio that causes the listener to desire to hang themselves using speaker wire.

If you've heard a blown speaker you will know exactly why I said that.

i was thinking one of the rows of the speaker grills on the top set of speakers stopped working cause it sounds like more volume is coming from the bottom then the top when i put my ear too it. Plus its nowhere near as loud as it was before. Js
Bumping this thread as I have this exact issue. Top speaker volume is drastically lower then the bottom speaker, however the audio coming from it does not sound like that of a "blown" speaker.
Phew I'm not alone, I kinda gave up hope as a replacement phone is supposed to be coming in on Monday

I have the same issue. The Speakers sound is not nearly as loud as it was new. Its irritating to barely hear navigation while driving.

Volume of the ear speaker question

Is the volume of the ear speaker of the sony xperia z's very low or very loud?
Am i able to adjust it from software in the phone or not?
I want the ear speaker to have a good quality sound like the iphone 5s or 4 does and it should be loud for me to hear the sound of the person i am in a call with and the sound should never scatter. it should be between me and the person i am having the call with.
Do you think that the Xperia z is capable of doing that or would you suggest the iphone 4 instead.

Hello, thanks for the reply.
You know what, i have to explain what specific feature i am refering to. Im not talking about the earphones for listening to music. You know not the ones that plug into the ear phone round jack. Not those ones.
Im talking about the ear speaker for listening to somebodies voice when they call you or when you are talking to them over the phone. Also not the speaker for hearing music.
Dont you know what the phone speaker is? Thats the speaker located at the very top of the phone used to hear the persons voice whom you are talking to over the phone. NOT the loud speaker or the earphone.
Thanks.

Yes. Its loud During Calls. If we r in a silent place means others can hear the caller's voice..
and no idea about the second one

Again please make sure your not refering to the loud speaker were i can play an mp3 file from or a multimedia sound file from.
thanks bro..........

Red Magic 3 sound ?

Hi guys,
Playing a little with the Red Magic 3 I find the sound is really not what it should be.
It's like all distorted...
Is that an impression or do you guys have the same feeling about this ?
Or maybe as it is stereo with front speakers I just get to get used to that new sound direction ?
Regards.
It's bad indeed but not really distorted in my opinion, cheap front speakers, I rearly use them so i don't care.
Wrather listen to music with headphones.

Hi,
OK. So we agree that the sound is bad...
I don't use the speakers often either. So not a big deal.
And I guess for the price, compromises must be made...
I'm OK with that one...
Regards.
It's not too bad. It's loud but missing some low end. 3rd party equalizers don't seem to make much difference either.
Way better than the disasters in the Black Shark 2 though.

The DTS:X does not appear to be loaded on the global ROM, I wonder if the sound would improve with it. Can anyone with the CN ROM upload the DTS apk?
