Hey guys. I've installed this ICS port from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2021722
And while for the most part it works fine, I can't seem to get MMS working even though I'm using the same settings as what I had before.
Also, GoShare in GoSMS doesn't seem to want to work unless I'm on wifi but my 3G connection works fine for all my other apps.
Anyone?????????????

When you updated to that version, did you flash a new baseband file?
Yes. I had to

What baseband are you using?
I actually posted the wrong link. This is the ICS port I installed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960150
And I installed the baseband that's linked there. LG V18a
if it's anything like net10...
then you need to contact them thru customer support and explain the baseband flash and kindly ask for a reactivation... worked for me
You might try your mms proxy as 66.209.11.33:80 and leaving the "Port" field under it blank.

I'm using a Straight Talk sim in it. Though my phone is AT&T compatible.
Also I found out that I can receive MMS. But I can't send. Also my multi-page texts are being cut off in random places for some reason.
So does nobody know what's going on??????
Ok, this should get you fixed and running. Please let me know if you used the APN settings from the thread you posted.
The APN settings in that thread are wrong for Straight Talk. If your phone has not been unlocked then you should have ordered an AT&T compatible SIM card from Straight Talk. If you ordered a T-Mobile compatible SIM, these APN settings will not work.
In the thread you said you installed from, the .dll file for the LG Flash Tool is wrong. You need this file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=789339&d=1321818969
If you change your APN settings and you still have problems, re-install your ROM using the instructions from that thread EXCEPT use the .dll posted above. (Thanks to adixtra for the .dll) Delete all previous Straight Talk APN's before setting this up.
Straight Talk APN Settings (AT&T Compatible SIM ONLY)
Name: Straight Talk
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33
MMS Port: 80
Leave everything else as it is, save the APN, then change the default APN to the "Straight Talk" APN in the list. Reboot your phone. If you have questions about this process your should check here
http://www.straighttalksim.com/pdf/ST_SIMCard_ActCard_AT&T_R3.pdf
or here
http://www.straighttalksim.com/support.php
Let me know how this goes.
Okay. I'm reflashing everything now with that DLL. Maybe I'll hand this DLL to the person who posted that thread as well if all goes well. Thanks.
Okay I flashed everything with the new dll file.
However, it's still a no go.
But I went into my phone information. I noticed something strange.

Pretty sure it's not supposed to be like that. I can get a data connection. I can download apps, watch videos, and I can RECEIVE MMS on 3G but I can't send. Also my texts are still being cut off.
It sounds like it might be an issue with the baseband.
The problem with your message length is a known problem with the ICS ROMS for now. Maximum single message is 80 characters.
Does the number in the IMEI section match what's under the battery?
---------- Post added at 11:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:47 PM ----------
Also, can you show a screen shot of your APN settings?
Yes it does match.
Here are my APN settings.
And in case you're wondering, yes I did change the LCD density value.
I'm working on testing the settings and the rom. I'll get back to you when I finish.
Well as far as I know I'm basically using the same ROM as you according to your sig. Because the thread I followed linked to that thread for the ROM download, I just used a different dll and baseband file.
So far, testing that baseband, I've had issues with my data not connecting properly and improper proxy communication. This seems to depend on the cell tower or area I was in. I'll post another update when I've had a chance to test the other available basebands. Proxy issues could cause MMS problems. Does your phone seem a little slow receiving texts?
Not that I've noticed. I mean I've texted myself a few times to test it out. Some texts do take a little longer than others but generally they come through within about 5 seconds or so.
But did you ever have issues? If not, maybe you could just send me your baseband file and your settings. You can use APN Backup and Restore to back them up and send me the XML file.
I would really appreciate it.

About a week or so ago maybe, it started that I can't receive MMS messages. I can't figure it out for the life of me. I can send them fine, but if someone sends me a picture in an MMS, I don't receive it. No errors, no picture, no notification of it, nothing. But if they send it to my mms address ([email protected]), then I'll get it.
I normally use the default messaging app that comes with android, but I tried a third party app (the go one) and same problem. This is all on a Samsung Captivate currently running Slim Bean 3.1.0 (Android 4.1.2). I want to say the problem started when I went from Slim Bean 2.4 to 4.1 rc1, but I'm not really sure if it started then or not. Since then, I've deleted the caches and formatted and all and put the latest Official Slim Bean release on here and the problem persists. Straight Talk (my provider) is pretty much useless for support. I have quadruple checked my APN settings and they are all correct.
Any ideas?
Good Morning! I had this same problem of not being able to receive MMS. I had frozen the default messaging app because I use Go Messaging. I finally figured out that Go Messaging (and maybe other replacements) relies on the default messaging app to download MMS. I have been receiving MMS, now that I leave the default messaging app unfrozen.
Good luck!
That's not really the problem here. I dunno what is though.
sounds like some of your APN settings for mms could be messed up. are you on AT&T or another carrier?
if at&t, here are a couple of screen shots of my working settings

That's because there's a maximum size that can be sent (often app dependant) using our androids. Most likely can be changed in the app's settings or by using another app.
I had this problem while upgrading my daughters fascinate. I goofed up the flash along the way and lived without MMS. I called Verizon. Did a manual upgrade successfully and still no mms. I went back to GB stock via Odin for another reason and checked MMS for the hell of it. It worked. I had to flash the Pit file, the tar all in one package together and viola! MMS. Good luck

It didn't used to do it. This is new. It wouldn't let me send large files, but it didn't reduce quality and/or shrink them either.
I'm wondering if I should attempt getting the thing back to stock, but I really am not sure how to do it. I found a thread here, but I'm still confused really, lol. And 2.3 seems like a pretty big downgrade from 4.1
There has got to be a setting or file or something somewhere that's causing this. Or maybe something missing, I dunno. I wish now I would've just left the damn thing using slimbean 2.4 and not upgraded it. It was all fine till then, except for Google's retarded f'ing Play store telling me apps wouldn't work when I knew better...

Going back to stock is fairly easy, just grab Odin KK4 without bootloaders (stickied in the Dev section).
But Imo, go ahead and give another ROM a shot if that one doesn't satisfy you.

It's just going to take some time and patience. Learn how to Odin. Get all of the necessary files and watch some tutorials. But above all else don't panic. You won't be able to focus on what you are doing and that's what needs to happen for you to get your phone in order. Getting back to stock is really easy. You'll be fine. Go on YouTube for video instructions.

On the AT&T stock AHD firmware there is a AT&T wifi app or hotspot app that would autolog me into wifi hotspots at mc donalds and sometimes starbucks.
Can someone copy that file from the /system/app folder? Preferably the Jelly bean rom.

Search for "AT&T Smart Wi-Fi" in play store you will get it... if you still cant find it, i have uploaded it for you here, you can download it and install...
darn, I installed that app to the mexican rom and it didn't work when I was at McDonalds.-. On the AT&T rom when I go to mcdonalds it auto connects to the AT&T wifi. Today it didn't.
I think there is possibly another app in there that is like WISP something APK. I think that is the one that I need. Can you possibly upload?
Thanks in advance

I made sure I took a backup before moving to Mexican Retail myself.

Let me know if there are any issues. Personally I hate the hotspot signing in automatically. Most of the places it does so have open wifi anyway

not exact but similar. But I could just use the wifi there seamlessly.
I installed the above apk and odex file and it seems to just auto connect to AT&T but I would have to open up a browser and still log in. Has just the normal wifi icon when connected
I read somewhere there is a app that is called WISPxxxx.apk or something like that ... is that possible?
thanks again in advanced.
Sorry those are the only files I took a backup of.
and unfortunately I'm on MR so I can't look for it in my current ROM.

well i flashed back to AT&T 4.1.1 again. It autologs in again. But its very strange. I did get it down to those 2 apps again... Might have to stick with AT&T firmware and just debloat it all by erasing all the spam apps except the hotspot and wifi app.
and i sorta like the 4g LTE icon LOL

Yeah you could do that. The big headache will be to enable wifi tethering though. There is a way but its a headache.
If you want to run stock, use Mexican Retail. Its 4.1.2 (so you get one finger pull down to expand notifications) and its almost bloat free (except 2 apps which dont really do much anyway).
I can confirm it runs much smoother than At&t stock. You wont get the 4g lte icon though. You'll get 4g,3g,2g icons. Youll also be able to select which data mode you want (if you want to power save) and easily tether wirelessly.
But then again, no at&t wifi hotspot
[ROM] TOUCHLITE GE TOUCHWIZ Version 1.1 for the Google Edition Galaxy S IV
Welcome to the TOUCHLITE GE TOUCHWIZ ROM ( version 1.1 ) based off of the[ROM][MGA][26July] Barebone Firmware V3 by Stavr0s91i which is a I9505XXUBMGA Base debloated deodexed Touchwiz Firmware. First a Big Thank you to Stavr0s91i, for the Base to work with and Illogic6, nfsmw_gr who also made it possible for us to get this far. Finally a Big Thank you to Ktoonsez for his tireless work developing Kernal's. After a couple of months of modification we have something to start with here. I spent over a month using Stavr0s91i work to cut down the MH1 base with no success but thanks to Illogic6 he did get the Barebone firmware to boot by adding some libs and modules from the 4.3 OTA. I added some tweaks, applications, a kernel, and made some other modifications to come up with this lightweight and stable Touchwiz ROM. I have been testing it for almost a week and I have been very pleased with how nice it performs, the battery life is good as well. ALOHA from MJ

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. For the Best Performance Odin back to stock and Wipe Data to make space for Touchwiz ( Please Refer to the Odin threads ) You can store nandroid backups on your external SD card.
2. Place the TouchLite GE ROM on your SD Card
3. TWRP Recovery Recommended, WIPE data, cache, and dalvik 3 times, Wipe System once.
4. Install Zip from SD Card, ( Wipe cache and dalvik, Reboot and Enjoy ) Patience Booting up takes awhile.
When the ROM boots up it looks very bare so you will have to set up your Google account from settings, email, or the Play store and set up your lock screen and widgets. Also please note that you will have to probably input your APN ( Access Point Names ) so that Data works. I personally had to input my AT&T APN's.

Quick question though... Last night I was bored out of my mind, so I flashed one lite touchwiz rom from the i9505 and I flashed the 4.2.2 kernel after that, and I noticed that when im on the call, and i move the phone close to me and away, and the screen starts turning on and off - at some point it just turns off, and gets stuck.
I wanted to make sure that this does not happen on here too.
Other than that - thank you, sir

Alright,
A few things.
1st - the clock on the lockscreen is missing. Like, its there, but its invisible. It only shows up once I receive a txt msg.
2nd - Initial start of the rom - it will automatically load up. It doesn't ask about google account. Which means that once I set up my google account - it would not install all my existing applications back.
EDIT: To fix the clock - you have to go to settings->my device->lockscreen->lockscreen widgets->clock or personal message->choose clock->save
It does not work with personal message. Also, for some reason - weather is also missing.
Will report with more bugs shortly

Those are not bugs. This ROM is very light lots of things were removed like the google sign in and you have to set up your lock screen the way you want, widgets the way you want. If your looking for something that is pure stock with everything already running and set up out of the box this isn't for you.
Touchwiz is just too big for our partition so some sacrifices have to be made

Have you looked at whats nesscary to get the CM mms apk to work on TW roms?
I know its changing some frame work and a few other things
Installed the new version. I'll kick, break, and test today and report back
I really am surprised how fast this is given it's TW..
great so far

The only thing I did was install the email app from Aroma so I could still use it for work.
I'll keep using it for another week and report any issues I find

Anyone know the right combo of installs to get the voice commands working for the camera?
I've installed S-Voice via Aroma and that gets me to the point of setting it up but once I say "shoot" "cheese" etc, nothing happens. Several of the other S-Voice commands seem to work fine but this one is stumping me.
I'm unable to find AT&T VVM in the Google Play Store which I assumed to mean it wasn't compatible. I manually found a link to it and sure enough it says it's not compatible with my device and wouldn't let me install it.
I made sure my older S3 was up to date and pulled the APK off that and put it on my N6. It installs just fine and seems to start the setup process OK too. It asks me to call my VM to activate it, it auto calls my VM for me and then when I close out of the call I see the VVM app says its activating but after a bit it says it was unable to activate and to check my connection etc and asks if I want to call my VM to try again.
Someone made a post about no Verizon VVM either and I made the comment same on AT&T. Someone had replied in that thread with the following:

However, this did not work for me. Same issue as the one I pulled from my S3.
Question is, did anyone get AT&T VVM working and if yes what APK and how?

Did you try turning off wifi before the setup? I've seen some say they have had to in the past, that only cellular activation would actually work. In any event, it works great for me...

Used same apk as you, on LTE, worked fine for me on my unlocked Nexus 6.
Still not working.
I just spent the last 30 minutes on the phone with AT&T trying to figure out if there is a server side issue but they had to escalate the case.
Funny side note, the AT&T tech support guy tried to remote into my phone using their AT&T remote access app but I was unable to open the page to install it because the phone is not carrier locked. Apparently per the tech, the app only loads on carrier locked phones. He put me on hold while he went to talk to his supervisor and who said yeah won't work on N6's, they are not carrier locked.
During the process I let it slip out that the phone was unlocked, rooted and decrypted. Shouldn't be an issue warrant wise or insurance wise if ever needed should it? They don't keep track of that stuff I assume?
using app version 2.7.2.1
transferred app and setttings using helium from my nexus 5
works with no issues
Works fine for me. Worked fine on my T-Mobile sourced Nexus 5 and Play Store Nexus 4 as well. I don't think it is available on the Play Store though.
I was able to download the APK and just installed it directly. Opened it up just fine and set it up as normal (i turned wifi off as I always do for setup)
Specifically I installed version 2.10.1.27, got it at the link below
Visual Voice Mail Topic
Still not working and I'm running down the list of APK's at that link. I just keep getting what you see in the picture below.

OK I just tried ALL of the AT&T VVM apk's on that thread and they all gave the same error.
I am getting a different error. When I search up the application in the play store it says its not compatible with my device (AT&T Nexus 6 (Motorola). Anyone else seen that? Happened to a game or two as well.
I just installed the one in your link and it worked fine. Bone stock N6. Anyone have an apk for latest version that includes the sensor setting to turn off screen when phone is brought up to your ear?
Yeah I don't think it's been int he Playstore for Nexus users for a LONG time for some reason. That is why people pull the APK and put it in that XDA thread mentioned in this thread, because people need it and can't get it from the Playstore.
Still haven't gotten this working yet.
Worked fine here
Still not working today either! =(

I've used Google Voice for VVM ever since Galaxy Nexus because of install issues with AT&T's VVM app. If you use Hangouts for SMS it is even more convenient because voicemails are merged with SMS and Hangouts conversations in the app keeping everything in one conversation thread.
I just had to make sure my wifi was off when first starting app but its worked fine on the last 2 custom AOSP roms I have loaded.
Just like the title says. I have tried Resurrection Remix, CM12.1, and Mokee so far, and none of them seem to work properly with my texting. I have tried reflashing radio and flashing baybutchers kernel for every ROM and haven't had any luck. Anybody else having these issues? PS I am back on stock ROM, I need my texts.

Doubt anyone else is having those issues on ALL those ROMs. It would have been a very prominent topic. The fact that you have tried all those ROMs and the condition persists suggests you are not configuring something correctly?
What texting app are you using? That would be a start. You know in settings, you often have to "allow" the app to be the SMS app? For instance, in the screenshot below "Hangouts" is my SMS app.
Then a corollary to that... As an experiment, try a different texting app (there's hundreds available) just to see if that solves the problem. Then you would know to look closer at the settings of the problematic app to see what's wrong?

Usually I use the built in messenger, but I also have tried hangouts on each of them and the problem is still there. I might be giving Resurrection another go later on today to see if my problem sticks.
Adblockers can include the mms servers which will prevent you from sending and receiving picture or group messages. If you run one, try disabling it.
Yeah, gotta be a conflict somewhere. Try installing ROM and GAPPs, and before any other apps, test the texting?

That does make sense and yes I do run adaway, I will try disabling it once I get another chance to flash again.
Anyways, I had flashed Resurrection again and the texting worked for an entire day, I woke up the next morning and decided to test it out and sure enough I was not getting any texts. As the post above me said, it could be adblocker so next time I will try disabling it.
Try selecting another operator, for example if you use verizon, change to at&t, then return back to verizon, this will refresh the message response center and you might have your sms restored. And have a good look on the number that you are texting, i'm from Mexico, and my turbo on cm12.1 kept adding +1 so my sms didn't worked either
I'm having the same problem on the latest computerfreak rom
Hey guys i got it fixed on CM 12.1 so far. It wasn't the ad blocker, so I decided to try to call the activation number for Verizon (*228) to see if that did anything. To my surprise, it actually fixed any connection issues I was also having with the Network and now my texts all go through and I receive them all. Just though I should share my solution.

If I recall correctly, *228 is intended for only non-LTE Verizon phones (e.g., feature phones), not for LTE smartphones. I'm glad it fixed the issue, but I think there is the possibility that it could've made things worse. A caution to anyone else with this issue, should they consider trying this.

yeah i don't recommend doing this either, i actually screwed up the LTE on my SIM card doing this and can only get 3G now... oops lol. Good thing i had an extra Nano SIM card for the occasion. So in short, this didn't solve anything, but i have been receiving texts even with the working LTE SIM, so maybe i just had a bad flash or something.
