After a full charge, without even touching it, it drains the battery quite fast! Also I've been on a full Charge and not even an hour of screen time and already 65%. And I've only been using Talk and the xda premium app.
My current rom is aokp_galaxysmtd_jb_build-4
I would most appreciate it if any of you would suggest different kernels or roms or something that could help me with this situation.
Get the BetterBattery Stats app from the market. It gives a much more detailed view on what is eating your battery. I had a similar problem and helped me out with finding a bad app running in the background.

Thank you very much, I'm going to try it and let you know.
EDIT: I used the app, and it doesn't seem like any apps are running in the background other then the default apps such as calander, google search, clock, etc...
Likely it's just my faulty rom (AOKP). I will consider changing it. Thanks for the help btw!
I am running DarkyROM with a semaphore kernel. Really fast and great battery life.

Make sure to also check CPU states in the BetterBatteryStats app. When not doing anything your phone should go into deep sleep. If it doesnt, you can check the Kernel Wakelock en Partial Wakelocks in that app to see what is keeping your phone awake.
PS: I'm using X-Bean 3.0 rom with Semaphore kernel 2.6.1 and very happy with it.

actually im messing with the auto kill settings now. lol such a noob
Android seeks to increase performance and efficiency by loading apps into memory and leaving them there after use. This does not mean that they are using CPU cycles or accessing the network. Killing off apps actually will consume more energy as they will need to be reloaded when they are needed again and in many cases this occurs automatically as you are seeing.

Can anyone suggest me some apps that can give you statistic on battery usage (I want something more detailed than the Battery Use menu in the Setting)
Preferably it can show you how much drain the phone use at current state and maybe it can also show you for each process as well
Thanks

Battery Monitor Widget Pro.....works perfectly well for me...
Betterbatterystats...2.00euros on market, free on XDA
battery monitor widget is the best.
Thanks, guys
I've tried battery monitor widget and it works for me. Will try betterbatterystats later
Cheers
I've tried them both.
batterbatterystats & battery monitor widget works great in pair to determine how your battery consumed & optimizing it.
I thinks i've found what i want. Solved

At that pace you look like you will get 20+ hours of moderate usage. I'd say that's pretty darn good, wouldn't you?
I suppose so. Usage was pretty light - it was just in my pocket most of the day. But, if that would last the day for me, then all is well.

are you on GB or ICS?
If you're on ICS, is it stock or custom ROMS? Could you tell me which one is it? And did you delete all the bloatware using Titanium Backup?
Thanks

I'm running a non-rooted version of the stock ICS ROM for the UK. I haven't used Titanium Backup to delete bloatware, but rather just disabled apps such as the Social Hub, built in file manager (I use Astro), calculator and weather widgets. There's a list of save to disable apps on here somwhere. By disabling them, they're removed from your app menu and never run in the background again. I've also got power saving mode on.

ICS?? amazing.. i need to flash stock ICS soon then. Because whichever ICS roms/stock ones i used, they gave me half the battery life than what I used to obtain using gingerbread.
Thanks for your reply bud

You're welcome. That battery life isn't the best either, as according to CPU spy my phone doesn't even deep sleep.
Welcome to the open discussion of BetterBatteryStats.
I would like everyone to give a big hug(and thanks) to aashay960 for finding this app:
BetterBatteryStats
What does it do?
Well it records the power usage of every single thing that drains battery from your phone.
And when I say everything I mean everything. Wakelocks, apps, alarms, you name it.
Why the fudge would I download it?
Spontaneously this great dude in the second post had the idea to tackle the not-so-great battery life on our device when it runs an overclocked kernel and/or in general.
You will be helping us find the heavy draining apps and stuff, which would lead to their fix.
And you will increase your own battery life if you provide us with good feedback.
Woah thats great, how can I help?
Check the second post for tips tricks and instructions on how to operate this app.
I hate this app, and I hate you.
*hugs* Have a great day :3
Don't forget to hit the thanks button in the original thread for buy it from the app store if you really enjoyed working with it. :3
Note:Since i got bored i will be updating the layout from my 10.1" screen laptop. Lets see how it goes.
Guys, if we want to pull this off we will need all of you to contribute to this thread. There are a lot of factors that can affect your battery stats and I will not be surprised if everyone gets different results. But that is exactly why we need as many results as possible.
Here's what you should do..
ONE-TIME STEPS
Go to the original thread. (Link in OP)
Have a good read
Download and install the app
Open the app
Have a look around then go to Menu>Settings>Advanced> select Root features
In the main screen of the app, press "other" and select "Alarm". It will ask for superuser permission, Grant it.
STEPS WHEN REPORTING
Charge your phone fully (so that we get more data)
After you unplug your charger, go to the app and make sure the second line says "unplugged"
Then, Forget about the app (well, not completely )
Use your phone like you normally would. The more you use it, the more data we will have. Leave it overnight if you can.
IMPORTANT - DO THE NEXT STEP BEFORE YOU PLUG IN YOUR CHARGER OTHERWISE ALL WILL BE WASTED
When it is time to charge you phone again, go to the app, Select Menu>More>Raw Stats
Click on "Other" and take screen shots of the following screens
Partial wakelock (very important)
Kernel Wakelock
Alarms
Process
Network
HOW TO REPORT
Name of Rom:
Name of Kernel:
Battery drain per hour: (it is mentioned on the main screen of the app below "current")
The screen shots:
Anything else you would like to mention
Optional - CPU Settings(max/min, governor etc)
POINTS TO REMEMBER
Your stats will depend on a LOT of factors and you will get somewhat different stats every time you charge.
Please do not post screenshots as soon as you install the app. It will be useless. The app needs time to collect data.
The more (number of hours) you use the phone, the better the stats will be.
Please visit the thread every 2 or 3 days and post your (new) results. It will hardly take time to take 5 screenshots
And dont worry, BetterbatteryStats itself will not cause any battery drain
All this might seem confusing but it is all really very simple. I have tried to make this post with extreme detail so that all the members can help.
Aww man.. I had been collecting data for almost 20 hours. Battery went from 100 to 27. Then i rebooted the phone for some other reason and now its all gone.WIll have to start again... Lesson learned
I found this guide on wakelocks that explains the most common ones. Really helpful.
OP Updated, hopefully people can get a better idea of what we are aiming for.
Also aashaay, i suggest that we elaborate on a proper etiquette and topic layout in your guide. It would be super usefull for people that are just getting started. PM me so we can find an enviorment that lets us do that.
Edit: OP maystill go under some changes, but the link will remain.

Thank you for posting. The 3 major battery suckers in your phone are wifi, facebook and google services. As I myself dont use wifi, I will not be able to comment on that.
As far as facebook and google services go , I would Suggest getting an app called Greenify. I have been using this app myself and so far it has proved to be really effective. And its really easy to use.
The downside is
Facebook - No more push notifications. You will have to open the app when you want to see your notifications and stuff..
Google services - You will not be able to install apps directly from your PC. You have to go to the Play Store in your phone. I dont think this should be a big problem though.
On the upside, you will see a much better battery life and maybe a increase in performance as these apps will not constantly run in the background. They will run as usual when you personally launch them. Give this a try. Hope this helps.
PS - I would personally suggest getting rid of the facebook app and using your browser to go to m.facebook.com. That will be even better. The facebook app has been known to cause a lot of wakelocks and unnecessary background processes. It is your choice though. Best of luck
Get rid of the Facebook app, it's balls lol. I've greenified play services and so I needed to do to install from PC is open play store on my phone. No big deal. If you really don't want to use m. Facebook. What I would suggest you going for either flipster or any other substitute. Just don't use the default one. Disable Wi-Fi when you are not using it and you should be good to go :3
P.S. May I suggest you put greenify in the instructions, aashay? Like " What to do after you collected data"
Thanks

I dont think Greenify will 'always' be the solution to the problem. I would say as people post their stats we could help them out with it (only once though, I'm not answering the facebook thing again lol). So after a while we will have a database of problems and solutions that others users can just go through and use the 'search' button. What do you say?

Yeah i went ahead of myself with this. I tend to get overexcited about helping, and also the sun isnt really helping my brain work clearer.
Lets wait it out and get some more data, I should have my screenshots posted tonight if i dont accidentaly charge my phone.
Yeah me too.. I always accidentally reboot or charge before taking the screenshots
I have uninstalled fb and some other rubbish and got greenify.
Will let you know the results tonight.
Thank you both for your help.

I think I can help you reduce the com.android.gsf wakelock (alarm)..
>Get the app called Autorun Manager
>Go to Menu - Settings - Enable system app disable (it should be checked)
>Press home and then go back to the app
>Look for 'Google Services Framework' in the list (NOT 'Google Services')
>Uncheck anything with 'gtalkservice' in it. (There should be about 5 or 6)
I think that might help you. i did that and I rarely get alarms from that anymore. And greenify facebook messenger if you want
Cyanogenmod 10
Prometheus Kernel (800max)
Per hour - 1.8% (which is amazing)
Run Time - 1 day 5 hours 48 mins 21 secs
Screenshots attached
Comments - The major suckers were whatsapp, Onavo count and E-mail (for some strange reason).
I cannot greenify or do anything else with whatsapp and onavo because they are way too important for me.
I do NOT use push notifications for Email .I have set it to sync every 30 mins (which is pretty conservative). Maybe its a one time thing and a reboot should fix it. If it happens again in the next run, I'll look into it.
Well after doing everything you suggested and greenify almost everything I am now on 42% after 20 hrs at 1.6 pH.
Amazing people, thank you.

You do know that greenify means no background processes right? That means no more push messages. Make sure you know what you are doing. Have a read about that app on the official thread on xda. It'll help you understand better.
Yes I did read up on it first. I left things like whatsapp, BBS, gmail and WiFi keep alive active.
I didn't realize just how bad fbook was.
Getting a lot better now.
Can you tell me what the deleted_wake_locks are?
Never mind, searched and found out.
The search bar is so underrated!
Thanks again.

Yes, sorry!
I did search when I realised how lazy just asking for solutions rather than searching was!
Hey guys, a lot of you have problems with Battery Life right ? One Problem is, that your phone cant go into deep sleep right ? Its because of some bloatwares
My phone was always in 51mhz ... so i decided to freeze Google Maps, Email, Emailwidget and Disables MLT and remove MLT apk, After that I had tons of deepsleep !
You can freeze it during Titanium Backup or Link2sd (both free on Google Play)

Its a big no for that..The " baseband_xmm_wakelock " is from the kernel itself, i mean stock kernel...Ive been playing around to solve it but apparently it still there unless using custom kernel, which im using roight now iodak kernel, that doesnt have that baseband wakelock...
I found a way to reduce battery consumption with stock...In stock V20a, the LGMLT.apk doesnt exists (in my case)...So i just frozen almost all unused system apps, enable EcoMode within hidden function...And by altering the fast dormancy table databases...Im able to get almost a day with battery from 100% - 5%....

Its not EcoMode with hidden function, but its the EcoMode is the hidden function...
Some user on v20a reports that it does gives extra battery juice and some not..But the thing is, it it function to be like that, no matter
it works or not, im gonna enable it anyway....
Search it around Generals section, i think its there...I activated it using command line executed in terminal...

For your information, that version in Play Store doesnt work with Jellybean...As the last time it was updated is mid 2012...Now mid 2013...
I'll post the command to get it running later on...
Anyway you could obtain the same effect using ds battery saver, this block the connection request from the phone and starts it only when you decide it
It saves a lot of battery.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rootuninstaller.batrsaverpro
I guess an app of this should be included in the phone since the O4X is programmed to drain a lot of battery if you don't stop connection attempts.
