Hi,
i flashed my phone with the pre-rooted firmware, managed by avicohh.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2030282
Thanks for the great job! Is there now any way to move application and games to external SD card?
Thanks for your help.
Try the Link2SD app. There are others available, but I've read many reviews for it and it seems to do its job well.
I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it's what you were looking for.

Thanks,
i installed the Link2SD app, but everytime, when i try to move any app or game to ext SD, i get error "install_failed_insufficient_storage".
Any idea? I have 2 partitions on the ext SD card, both primary, size aprox. 15 GB each... One of them is FAT32, the second one is EXT4. I tried formated the second partition with EXT2, EXT3, EXT4, FAT32... always the same error... Thanks for help
Hmm... this is interesting, it looks like many users are reporting this same error. Sorry about that!
I haven't installed it yet, as I added in my edit above, but I'll give it a try later on and see what I find.
Edit: if you want to move Gameloft files, then there's also GL to SD which is reported to work (but then again, so was the one I suggested above ).

I tried app2sd also, after installation i got error - "The device does not have a real primary external storage, or the primary external storage is emulated. Moving app to SD function may not be supported by this device." That's all.. i can't move anything...
I'll try the GL to SD later... Thanks for help
App2SD won't work since the only thing it does is inform you that an app can be moved to SD and present you with a shortcut for that action - it's not compatible with Android 4.0 and above since Google disabled the feature. You can only use it in previous versions where the option is accessible from the app's screen anyway.
If you're really anxious, then there's also DirectoryBind and a nifty tutorial here to test.
Oh, and please click the Thanks button if you think I've helped.
You can also try out DirectoryBind.

Do most people do this to their ext card when they run link2sd or internal card?

No its the fact that some of the larger ones dont allow for moving by apps2SD so was thinking of links2SD because they are typically symlinked from my understanding so the system doesn't know any different.

I still don't understand why you would need it, but I also have used link2sd without problems on my G3. App2sd created a total meltdown on my previous phone.

Exactly ^^^ when flashing new ROMs it wrecks the app icon link to the actual app even though the app is there and installed. It cannot be fixed except by reinstalling the app and re - moving the app to SD card again. I believe Link2SD you can just reinstall link2SD after flashing a ROM and then reconnect all the links to apps that are already installed and then they all start working again.
Thing is that I have partitioned the SD card and allowed for 800MB of space in FAT and the link2SD script doesn't work with my SGS now that I am on ICS
I use App2SD and it runs perfect..

i want to know if this problem is with all 4.1.2 jb rom or only in my phone.
I have no problems on my CM10 nightly.so it's your phone/configuration.
The "problem" is with all cm based roms. Every cyanogenmod has mounted in that locations the sd cards, like a linux root directory.
Don't forget to say thanks if this post helped you.

What problem are you referring too? I just tried it to be sure and I can access the files on my external SDcard using a file browser app I got from the Play Store. For instance, I can install an apk that is stored on my external SD-card.

You could try backing up the data of the card and reformat it. Or try a spare micro SD card if you have one.
I know that probably won't work but it's worth a try and honestly I can't think of anything else.
Try several file browser apps to see if that makes a difference.
I assume you've already tried to reboot and remount the card?

External storage "swap" for Xperia Z1. that will be safe for z1
So that we can make external SD card react as our internal storage by doing this we can directly downloads every thing on our SD card and can install more HD games.
Usually 1 HD game have 1GB to 1.5 GB Data and 5 to 6 games fill up all 11 GB available Internal storage in our device, but if we exchange our internal storage with our SD card than we can fulfill our requirements by using a 32GB or 64GB Sd card

Right now I am using Gameloft to SD app for moving all my games to SD card
1) First fix your remount reboot error get it from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317432
if you did not have recovery then use windows.exe installation method. Rooted device is requied
2) Download GL to SD app from play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slf.ListglApp&hl=en
move your games data
3) After moving data you can play games by this method only
3.1) open GL to SD app
3.2) you will see two button on top right side, first button is mount and second one is for unmount
3.3) press the mount button
3.4) Now click on play button which ever game you like to play
4) after close the Gl to SD app all the folders unmounted, so if you want to play again you have to open GL app again and mount the games.

does External swap has anything to do with the RAM?
Swap is normal terminology for offloading the least used data to slower drives. I suspect that the op is asking for a way to use the memory card as internal storage, and vice versa.

Sorry I could be very wrong here, in that case sorry. I thought OP was referring to making a swap partition on the sd-card and using that as swap. I've seen people do this on 'low-RAM' devices to increase multi-tasking a bit. That's why I wondered what he was up to since he has 2 gigs of RAM.

yep he's looking to swap internal storage with ex-sd, I would like to be able to do that too, I have like 2gig left on internal and a 64GB card only being used for camera, photos, videos and very little music
was using that on the XZ but I stopped using it for some reason, don't remember what it was

Hmmm well you could try simlinking your internal storage to your external sd-card, or only do it for specific folders. I never tested this by the way so I have no idea what could happen if you do this, but it's an idea.

I tried Folder Mount with that fix, but can't get it to work.
The linked folders will mount, but when launching the moved games, it is asking to download additional files again.
The files from the Install.bat of the fix have correctly installed on my phone as well.
So not sure what is going on.
Can you play moved game successfully on your phone?

You should mount /system from CWM before you install CronMod. CronMod mounts the ext partition of your SD Card as the new /data moving all the original /data files in there. Now certain applications like Google Play, Google Setting, etc needs to be in the internal memory to work properly. Otherwise they will give forced closes. With CronMod, you will not be able to move any apps to internal memory as your new internal memory is the ext partition of your SD Card. While using CronMod make sure to install only the necessary apps as installing more and more apps will make your phone more laggier. Also the maximum size of the ext partition should be 1 GB. Hope I Helped

Since the original /data partition is moved into the ext partition of the SD Card and the SD Card R/W speed is less than internal memory R/W speed, yes, it will lag. You can control this to a certain extent by using Class 8 or above SD Card and only installing the necessary apps. Don't forget more apps you install to ext partition, more laggier your phone becomes

I keep getting this error trying to install apps from the play store. My phone is rooted, the SD card is properly partitioned, and I can successfully link apps to it via Link2SD. The problem is that my phone seems to be very picky about what I can and cannot install. Some programs will install with no fuss, while others will give me the "Error: Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card" error. It's extremely irritating.
Please do not suggest unmounting/remounting the SD card. I've tried this. It DOES NOT WORK.

I don't know if FolderMount would do what you want but you can always try.
Do you happen to have the stock kernel on your phone? Because if you do it's write protection enabled and you can't use that from my experience. You need to install a kernel with write protection removed.
I installed a custom Kernel, write protection's gone. Think wiping the whole thing would help? Or installing a Custom ROM?

A custom rom could definitely help! Just make sure you make a backup of your current system and then try another rom but I can't exactly say any rom that's better than another one because I'm using a personal built rom but all the roms are pretty good and each has their own problems so be sure to read about the rom you choose closely!
