[Q] What ROMs would you recommend nowadays? - HTC Incredible S

I have been using Nik's ROM ever since I rooted my Incredible S. However, as Nik has stopped working on his ROM for a while, I guess it is time to move on to something else.
What ROMs would you guys recommend? I prefer using ICS with Sense.
P.S. I really want to thanks Nik for his hard work in the past year and a half!! your hard work is really appreciated!!!

Well from what I seen Project X is basically still the best sense rom if you want a good battery ,performance and overall usage. Flash redux kernel on it too and you'll get some more features and stability.

ye I noticed that too, those 2 apps get sluggish at times and gotta wait for them. It got better for me once changing radio. However still happens at times.

I've tried most of ROMs especially Nik's, but I think Sabsa Prime v10.0 is most stable and bugless ROM among others. Besides, it includes Sense 4.1 and some JB apps. You should try it guys.

Try ARHD with beast mode kernel. Best ROM - kernel combination there is.

Venom isnt bad, but it became a bit laggy for me..
Sent from one of the few remaining HTC Incredible S'

I used nik's project x 4.1 previously and I found it stable , good battery and fast . But since he didn't make any new updates so I moved on to other roms such as sabsa and venom . Sabsa is sort of like a project butter ui , I found it extremely smooth and responsive however I didn't use that Rom as my daily driver since I like the unique and cool features of the venom Rom although it has a little bug on it . Not a big deal though , I can bear with it .
So these are my opinion on the popular sense 4 Rom . If you want extremely stable , go for nik's project x ( don't really have updates for the time being ) ... Sabsa for fluid performance over the ui . Venom for unique features like it's own tweaks and hub . That's all I would say
Sent from my Incredible S using xda premium

i would suggest u sabsa prime v10.0 bugless n my daily driver nowadays.

I will recommend all you guys to use Nik Project X V4.1. It is the best Rom ever.

ARHD 4.0... With hunter or beastmode kernel....

I think Blackout rom is very smooth and bugless,it worth a shot @@

Blackout is perfect not had one issue

After testing ARHD with Beastmode for some time I must say this is the best rom for overall thing. 2 Days battery (yes 2 days) with about 2-3h screen on time and everything synched/pushed. No lag at all and so far no crashes on apps or sluggishnes on dialer etc.

ARHD wins! Beast mode or hunterwu kernel.....

[Q] Best Rom?

Hey guys, I was just looking for your opinion on the best, and most stable rom for the incredible s, currently I'm running miui 1.9.9 and am pretty pleased with it, Im just wondering what else is out there, I tried htc bliss beta 2 sense 3.5 because i missed sense but it had camera issues so Im wondering what your opinion is and what youve tried
android revolution hd is the best hands down imo
"Best rom" is very subjective, as I'm sure a few other people will point out. I for one am using CyanogenMod and can say that I am very happy with it and don't plan to change any time soon. If you want to find more roms you can go take a look at the Development section of the Incredible S forums, there you will find threads concerning roms that you can try out for your device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1028
Hope you'll find something that suites you,
Cheers!
I agree with scoob on this one rev HD deff is one of the most stable ROMs out there. Cyanogen is very stable as well however I can't get over not having sense. I'd choose from those two both awesome HD is super fast while cyanogen is slightly slower yet is highly customizable and does not include sense.
well, as pointed out , the choice is very personal.
it depends on your preferences as there are some differences in most of the major roms.
so far i've tried ARHD, CM7, MIUI & Virtuous unity.
CM7 is quite good if you are interested in having a non-sense rom but the functionality, stability is top notch. CM7 has set a standard not just for stand alone developers but for corporate production as well.
ARHD is a very popular rom and most people using it will swear by it.
it is sense based, and it will feel like a charged up stock rom.
very professional as well.
MIUI is what i used the longest & i must admit it is a brilliant rom in the fact that it stands out in appearance & customization.
every app and every part of the system is beautified and it feels like a totally different phone. if you are looking to have a 'different' yet amazing phone, MIUI is the way to go.
but the major drawback with MIUI is that it is not officially supported for the INCs and thus there are some minimal bugs which can get a bit annoying.
And of course it has no app drawer, works like the iphone.
this can be handled by the wonderful app created by a member here called alt drawer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154299
i feel this is a must for MIUI.
finally, using VU at the moment and i feel it is a perfect blend of sense components and that little something extra.
looks, feels and works amazingly well, minimal bugs and almost feels like the perfect rom again...
i did however run into a few loop boots recently, but i think that can be worked on.
that's my personal opinion on all the roms...
and i think it would be a good opportunity to give a heartfelt 'thank you' for all the developers here working so damn hard on providing world class roms for us.
Thank you guys, we all do silently thank and appreciate all your efforts!

Inc S is officially supported at miui.us. The two things I miss with MIUI is SRS and handsfree mic. Other than that, its the best lightweight rom available for Inc S atm.
MIUI with Tiamat Kernel works very well.
If you like Sense 2.1 or 3.0 i prefer ARHD.
If you don't like Sense i would go for CyanogenMod 7 Nightly #68.
But that's just what i think ;-)

i've been a user of ARHD, it's the most popular if i may say and developer is very responsive. i haven't gotten to try the other ROMs on an extended time but i'm pretty sold to the ARHD
I'm using CyanogenMod 7 and love it - very fast, good battery (after clearing battery data), and lightweight.
However it is the first ROM I've flashed and while I'm very happy with it, I'll still try others just to see what there is. But if you haven't tried it, give it a shot -you can easily download straight from the ROM manager app
i like revolution hd,but its sense 2.1
Im using arhd and it improves the batt life too. My first rom i flashed on my incredible s.
I'm using virtuos rom v2.37 by far the best rom with sense 3.0!! I've tried them all but the virtuos rom runs very smooth and no fc's.

I m using ARHD 1.1.7 with sense 3.0 patch. everything works fine. however the guy who don't like sense UI must b use CM7. it comes with a lot of customization. miui also a good one. but i dun like it , lack of appdrawer. look like with iphone.

[Q] Any suggestions for a decent ROM? :)

Hi everyone. I would just like some suggestions ( with links if possible ) of any good ROMs out there. I've used a few before, CM7's, CoreDroid's, the ICS ROM, Android Revolution and Nik Triity sensation XL's. So if anyone knows any other cool ROM that's fast and has a good battery life, do share! THANK YOU!
If your top priority is battery life, there's no question that cm7 is as good as it gets. The best way to find roms is to go through the development forum and just keep browsing. The most active topics are the most frequently updated, while there are still good ones to find two or three pages deep. You will not find anything here that you cannot find there

+1 for MIUI. It's smooth, looks amazing, has well integrated features and paired up with a decent kernel gives excellent battery life to.
Basically if you're rooted, you're not stuck with one ROM anyway. Just give them all a go, and pick your favourite
I advise you Virtuous Affinity, if you prefer the original Sense look, and still has good battery life with Juice Defender.
I installed MIUI ICS v4 beta ROM, and it's great so far. Before I've been on older development MIUI. Try it I definetely recommend it
Virtuos affinity .. not a big fan of sense so just flash no sense script and enjoy the better battery life ..
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using Tapatalk
You can see a list of ROMs with their relevant links at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136463
Few of the good ones with HTC Sense (I prefer sense) are Android Revolution HD, Virtuos Affinity and Niks Trinity.
As mentioned above if you are rooted you can try them all Use titanium backup to backup your stuff on sd card before you start flashing else you will loose your data.
Thanks everyone! Will definitely be trying MIUI and the other ROMs mentioned. Cheers!
Another quick question tho, can anyone tell me if there are any ICS ROM now which is good? Good in the sense that everything works because I think one of them has the camera or camcorder not working? Not sure which but yeah.. Would love to try out an ICS ROM which works beautifully
Another vote for CM7, I am using it on my HTC Inc S and loving it.
CM7 is definitely a good choice if you don't care much about the UI looks. Htc sense is a resource hog but hey it makes your phone so much more beautiful ;-)

Well CM7 is good, but it has its drawback like the low volume in call (compared to sense ROM) and worse camera driver. I'm rocking ARHD with ROM cleaner so I can keep apps I like and remove everything else that makes it slow. Using it with ADW Ex, smooth like butter. Best of both worlds lol.

Or try one of Niks sense 4 ROMs they are really good too

There's always Cyanogenmod 7 if you don't specifically look for an ICS rom. It works perfectly
I've tried a lot of roms and I always back to cyanogenmod, it has great battery life and performance and everything is working in it
I use cooldroid revolution s. It's almost full sense 4 and speed is amazing. It never lags. After flashing camera fix its great.
I tried other roms but no matter what I try I always come back to this rom.

Don't know if you're still into Gingerbread but I'm on Trinity SensationXL 5.0 with Unity 10 kernel on top and I can honestly tell you it does not lag whatsoever and battery life is great as well, it's the stablest custom GB rom out there you can get. The possibilities on GB are endless, with full V6 Supercharger support and customs kernels! You can never get bored overclocking your phone. :fingers-crossed:
As far as tweaking and theme'ing goes, there are numerous mods and themes out there that allows you to fully customize the rom to your personal needs, here's a couple;
Code:
http://j.mp/QaE6BG
http://j.mp/QaGYyv
Also I've discovered that a little bit of a system file (media_profiles.xml) tweaking can make your Sense 3.5 camera take crisp clear photos and great quality videos.

Project X smooth(anyway sometimes I can see a little lag, not bother me so much) in page transition, open drawer, pull down notification. Love it
Native Hotspot not working
Like me, sometimes I would like to stream video or photo from my IS to WD TV Live, this ROM(android 4.0.3) can't pre-select my WD TV Live as my media player to play all my Video or Photo. I need to re-select my media player for each video that I need to stream.
I don't how to add panel with this ROM. Probably I can't.

My dream ROM would be with HTC sense (3.6 or 4 any would do) with fast ice cream sandwich. Speed and stability is important for me. Please suggest some good ROMs.

I think, yes. But we don't have Sense 4.1 right now. But we will get it surely when we get a port from the new Desire X. But with the kernel from lost.prophet and the governor lionheart the ROM seems very smooth to me. It feels great, but try it yourself - it's all about taste
you should try the official pre-root rom, if the stability is your main key. I use the rooted official rom, sense 3.6 on ics. The speed is not bad but not so fast.
Because I use this phone for getting my job done and little chat with my friends. Next year I will flash the custom rom, when htc is no longer issue any updates for this phone.

The best ROM is the one that works best for your requirements on your phone.
Each ROM has certain features, some USPs and some shortcomings, but ALL ARE GOOD! Or else they wouldn't be showcased by the respective ROM developers (thank god htcphones has been banned).
So check each one out, try them in your daily usage pattern and then select one. Asking others what's good for me is like choosing a girlfriend/ partner and asking others to test and tell if she's OK!

Been running it for 2 days now. A poster in the thread mentioned phenomenal battery life. Unfortunately I don't see it. I am at 50% right now since the morning and I am a light user. I am coming from 2.3.5 which had a 3 day average use for me. Not happy with performance buy happy that I have ICS. If my provider didn't stop development I'd be still on 2.3.5 until stable release. I'm also using Nik Project X. Even though the ICS experience is so much better than GB, the battery life is not comparable. I could get at least 4 days with Nik Trinity XL. With Project X, I get 3 days roughly. I'm using the same settings I used to have with Trinity XL but battery performance could not match Project X. I'm still happy about the ICS's smoothness.

Auto-brightness, how often things sync with the internet, how good of an area are you in for signal reception. Even having your phone on silent will give you better battery life: if your constantly getting messages from whatsapp etc instead of playing a sound for message notification.
My phone will get to about 8pm with 70% battery, but then i talk to people on whatsapp and my battery goes down to about 10%.

[Q] Fastest, most stable Peared-Down ROM

Hi Folks,
I've had the HTC Desire C for a while now, and have tried a few different ROMS to date. I'm currently running Nameless 5.03 on it (a bit old, i know)
I have a couple of questions really.
Ok, first off, what is the fastest, most stable ROM for this phone, as lately it's slowness has become annoying.
(I haven't tried overclocking yet or any of the other optimizations (scripting), but I'm willing to go there if i can't get a decent result with a ROM.)
Secondly, I've noticed in the music app, there are little interruptions sometimes with the smoothness of the music, which is annoying. I then check Task Manager and there is lots of crap running in there. I close most of it.. but later on it's runnig again.
Is it safe to remove these apps/packages altogether (I'm assuming it as, as the phone runs perfectly without them running)
And lastly, is there a ROM out there that is mostly stirpped down with all of these crapps removed already. I suppose what I'm trying to achieve is a streamlined and as fast as possible phone, without all the crapps.?
All answers welcome.. cheers! :good:

All answers welcome.. cheers! :good:

UPDATE
R: [Q] Fastest, most stable Peared-Down ROM
I'm running revolution De-Sene rom, and it's a bit faster than nameless because it's without sense (which make the phone slower). Anyway, nameless 7 is more stable and faster than nameless 5, but I didn't tried slim sense yet, maybe it's better than these...

slim sense is not better than revolution, because it's older and is still in 1.0.
the dev has left the forum and the rom hasn't had any bugfixes yet. i wouldnt suggest even trying slim sense

Sense is hard-coded into the Revolution base. It's not without Sense, sure, Sense launcher is not its default and it's made to look AOSP-ish, but it's still Sense.
For the record, I'm using the latest Nameless now and I'm happy with it.
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to move onto Nameless 7.x today and give it a shot.
Think I will try the OC'd kernel too and might have a play with some of the scripts etc. if i get time.

In all honesty speed wise theres no difference in my eyes between all the major roms .
Pick which rom appeals to you , oc it with the kernel that works best with your rom and then strip the guts out of the rom after installation . Thats delete all the crap that comes on these phones.
Then you will have a fast rom
IF you enjoy listening to music then imho Revolution> Nameless by quite a margin IF you install Kingbeatz . As Kingbeatz > all those awful beats mods that are on nameless .
If you do follow my suggested route delete Apollo music player and use your favourite one as it can be quite buggy. Just be sure to try Apollo first to get an indication of the sq that is achievable . Then try your fav player and see if Kingbeatz actually works with it .
Just ask in the thread and I'll hepl if I can or Russ will otherwise .
Hope this helps
all the best

Just wanted to say I'm running Russell's Revolution rom with the 800 oc'd kernel and it's great. The phone has never been smother. I'm a happy camper!
