Hi there. Recently flashed allianceRom jellybean xxlsc beta1.1.
When i first tried to start S Memo, the app said it'a retiring to make way for S Note. I pressed start now and the app is just uninstalled. I go to S Note and nothing migrated.
Is there any way to restore my s memo stuff from my backup in pc. it was done via kies so i doubt it detects custom rom. Any ideas? From what i know and/or rmb, my files in pc seem to be jpeg. May not be able to edit via and spen apps, right?
But the more impt thing to me is still restoring. Need help with that first.
Thanks in advance to helpful replies. Will press the button when they start coming in xD

EDIT: ****. Didnt backup with Kies; meant i had no backup..time to check my CWM Backup..
EDIT: SOLVED. Had older backup in Kies. PHEW.
Titanium Backup can unpack nand backups, maybe that's how get your S-Memo back. And then pay attention to what you select, S-Memo asks you whether you want to migrate your data to S-Note or not.

I want to root my galaxy tab but I don't feel comfortable doing that unless I can fully backup everything and be able to restore easily. Can you guys recommend something?

Titanium for backup.
Root using Z4Root..only one button to press and your tablet is rooted..
No Risk..it's ok

titanium only backs up apps, app data and system data. It does not backup the firmware, radio, etc.
so if something is screwed up by rooting, or flashing a different firmware, it cannot do "full recover" if that is what you mean with it; it only recovers apps and system settings.
for a "full backup / restore" solution check this thread:

i agree with the post in regards to Z4Root, worked easily and flawlessly though

I did use z4root and it worked fine. Scared me when my wifi connection was lost, but a quick turn off/on it worked again.
Yes I do mean a FULL backup of everything, not just apps

Maybe I'm retarded but how do I enter the code? I don't see a way to do it. My galaxy tab is sprint network enabled but not activated, wifi only.

The code is entered on the dialer part of the contacts app... Commonly known as the dialer with buttons from 0 to 9 with the additional * and # characters... Surely you must have seen such a contraption on previous phones...
If you can't use the dialer then get a SIM card in it....
Yup, there is no dialer on this phone. Downloaded aDialer and it says cannot make or take calls on the galaxy tab. Wtf?

Another weird thing, there is no sim card menu in the settings menu..

If I had to choose one I would pick the titanium back up. In my opinion the best there is right now.

Thanks for recommending TB, luckily I backed up before I bricked my sprint galaxy tablet. Was able to flash with Odin using Zoinks Sprint SPH-P100 pit and tar. Got my tab to boot and easily restore all apps and user data.

This really sounds stupid even to me. But how do I restore?
I installed Titanium a while back and now would like to reset to factory. Obviously there is a restore button in Titanium which I can use to restore individual apps but how do you batch restore.
The other even more stupic question is how do I restore if by resetting to factory Titanium is wiped as well? Do I now have to re-download titanium and expect it to find the backup data on the SD card which I hope will stay intact during factory reset or do I remove the card during factory restore and still expect the re-downloaded titanium to pickup the backed up data?
Hi mutant.,With my knowledge and experience over my gtab I can say that factory reset or wiping data would be only the Rom portion of your internal sd.so u can save your data in SD. Still to be much safer save it in external SD.once flashed again with new Rom. install titanium and restore all your data and apps.you can do batch restore with titanium pro.for double safety I backup everything on ext SD and also in CWM before flashing new Rom. Hope this helps.I'm also a learner for now..hence thought this would help you from learner prespective.dev's and exp's can correct me if I'm wrong..

Backup is stored on sd card in titanium backup folder (internal or external youcan choose that). Redownload titanium backup if wiped after rom installation and restore. Press menu button in titanium backup there is a batch option. TIP: Edit filters in titanium backup to show backed up applications only (or user apps) and then use the batch feature so u dont have to search through all apps.
Thanks guys, very useful tips!

Could your SGT be a P1010? cause AFAIK it does not have a calling feature and I don't think executing the number is the only way to reset your phone, CMIIW.
Is there a way to back up your current or original rom before you flash another rom?
I am about to wipe install Darky's new rom and would like a way to restore apps without having to reinstall each one individually.
What are the general feeling on resorting apps via titanium?
If I use titanium will the apps still receive automatic market updates?
Also can anyone recommend a good way of backing up contacts?
All advice is welcome!

contacts i use googlemail...
for cleaner results just restore user no system apps.
if you go for darky 10 i wouldn't restore apps at all or just selected fresh install where ever you can...

Had my SGS for three months on 3 in the UK.
In the first week I flashed the 2.2.1 update.
Brilliant phone, but then 2 days ago it suddenly went very wired, 1-3 buzzing, buzz pause buzz buzz buzz everything crashing and rebooting didn't help.
So I did a factory reset (reboot vol up + home + power) which of course wiped everything.... not even market worked.
I had a user folder with various essential files, including the titanium apk
Titanium restore all apps and data, sit back and wait around 20/30 minutes.
Phone restored EXACTLY as it was before, including placement of icons and everything down to the last detail.
A "Backup" generally in computing terms is like a parachute, you have no use at all for it until you need it, and then you'd better have one, and it better work.
Titanium backup worked, 100%, cannot fault it in any way whatsoever, if you only buy one apk, buy this.
----------------------------------------------
Sms backup plus which backed up all my calls and SMS and storing all my contacts to google/gmail and not sim card, and googe calendar probably helped a lot.
-----------------------------------------------
I have titanium set to 7 backups, one a day per week, rolling.
=================================
The only thing I am missing is a backup solution that backs up over the USB to a PC and which backs up absolutely everything on the phone, system and all.
As far as I know there is no ready made solution to this need?
Thanks Johnny, much appreciated mate!
So basically, when I upgrade to a new firmware, I can use titanium backup so I won't have to manually reinstall all my apps after a repartition/factory reset? What about settings such as wlan keys, or pictures associated with contacts?

i would highly recomment not to restore system settings when upgrading to a new fw.
also titanium can't help if you f*ed up your system you should make a nandroid backup for that..
nandroid =safety
titanium=makes life easier but sometimes makes problems

Ok, so there's no way to keep the contacts-pictures when upgrading to a new firmware without risking system stability? That sucks
so.. i was trying to employ the gps fix on my overcome GB 2.0 beta 2, and i changed some of the system files.. i made a back of it in the same system file folder (created a folder putting everything that i changed inside) but now my galaxy tab wont start! it just keeps looping in the samsung galaxy tab screen, i can still go into recovery mode, but now im looking for ways so that i could access the folders to just revert the changes i made... any suggestions? i would really appreciate it.. thank you!
Its probably best to just reflash the rom? Hoping you have a backup nandroid so you can advance restore the data/apps
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA Premium App
that's my last resort, because i dont have any back up thanks for the suggestion though..
im trying to use adb, but i cant seem to get the hang of how to use it
Why not make a backup, (wait, hear me out) then only reatore the data/apps part. Be interesting to see if your phone will let you backup. If it does, then you should have access to restoring your apps/setup. Whilst still reflashing the rom to renew the system files.
Worth a try?

ok, ill just reinstall the rom thanks for the help!
Hello
i swichted from stock rom to custom rom, but i recognized that everything was deleted.
So how can i Backup the apps and other data in order to put it back after installing a custom rom.
Titanium backup from the market.
Widgets position on the homescreen will not be saved unless you use a custom launcher with a save setting.

galaxy s3 backup problems !
can you guys please tell me how do i restore the apps, contacts and everything i recently backup (on the phone storage) while installing a custom rom wipes everything?

also samsung kies won't detect the phone as it has a different rom
Hello!
The app System Tuner Pro caused a soft brick to my phone GT-7000, it was blocked on the "samsung" blinking screen, so I managed to downgrade to GB with Odin/PC and then I installed Ultimate Jelly bean ROM by Joosh3 via ICS 4.04 + safe kernel and everything works fine.
BUT I had a very important information on a s note - I need to retrieve it. It has been erased (wiped twice during the installation), and even using Undelete.app I can't have it back. I don't even know in which folder was this note, and what was it's extension. And the s note app merged with the s memo app...
Is it still possible to retrieve this information? It's very important
Thank you in advance,
Maroussia
No.. The Information is gone forever unless you exported it as image before
Unless you did backups its lost mate, always backup.

whoops....seems like you have lost your data!
Make this a habit from now on,...ALWAYS backup before you tinker with your device

Try a root brower such as es file explorer (need to enable root and hidden file) or rom customizer and look around. If the s note save data in one of the hidden folder you might be able to retrieve it.
