Video Review: Tridea Italian Leather Flip Folio - Galaxy Note II Accessories

Hey fellas,
Got my hands on another case for the Note II, this time it is the Tridea Italian leather flip case. It is reminiscent of the SGP Valentinus case, although it is much more affordable and not as bulky. It's a folio style case, so it features a front flap to keep your display protected. Unfortunately there is nothing to hold it in place, so it tends to flap around. The ports and cutouts are spot on, however.
Check out the full video review below;

great review

Cheers! Happy to help

do you reccomend this case mate? i would like one with the flip cover to protect the screen, but would also like a case tough enough to protect my phone in case of drops or bumps. it looks like flip covers are all "light" protective, while tough cases are way too bulky or do not provide any protection to the screen (no plastic film protectors for me! i hate them!). thank you a lot!!!

The flap actually isn't a big deal. I've been using a similar case for a week now and unless you have a giant pocket the flap stays shut.
I actually prefer not to have a magnetic or grommet styled securing device.
And let's face it. as for drop protection, these type of cases just don't compare to the UAG or Otterbox cases.

So basically you say that this case goes for style and look and moderate protection, while the others go for enhanced protection, right? Just as I thought... Does it exist a tough case as uag but with a flap or such to cover the screen? I am afraid because of 4 hours of commuting a day... A little bump or sudden train braking may make me drop my phone.. And I wouldn't trust only a plastic film to protect the screen. Holsters like otterbox defender one, on the other hand, are uncomfortable to use while in the crowd and one handed..
Thank you for your suggestion, this case looks superb, but maybe it's not the right thing for me...
Galaxy Note II - Alliance Rom

I keep hoping for someone to make a UAG with a flip cover.

I just returned the case to Amazon for 2 reasons.
1- The flap was warped - and did not cover the screen right.
2- There is virtually no top or bottom protection - the device is held only on the sides - the top and bottom are naked.
On the plus side - I have'nt seen a product with this good quality - in a long time. It is a really well made case - just not tough and protective enough for my taste.

Im using this one for few months and I like it.

I've got the scosche foldio & really like it because it hardly adds any bulk to the tab.
Hi,
I would advice you to at least buy 2 case.
1. Foldable leather case with at least 2 landscape standing position groove
This one for premium feel & function outing.
2. Left, right & back protected transparent hard plastic case
This one for light & casual outing.
I'd also recommend the Zenus case, which isn't on the list. I got mine last month, and am pretty pleased with it. It's leather and adds some thickness, but it still fits in my coat pocket, but not most of my jeans' back pockets. I may break down and get a lighter one late Spring, or might just carry it around naked.

The Zenus is a very well made case, it looks classy and isn't bulky, doesn't cover any of the screen and the stand on it is solid and works well. I'm very pleased with the purchase, unlike the stock Samsung case which is quite poorly designed.

Melkco Leather Case
I'm also looking for a tab case - great post with the video links. Since I'm new to the forum I can't post links, but google:
Melkco leather case galaxy tab
and it comes right up.
Retails at $69 USD. Pricey, but looks great.
otterbox case after a few drops i still love it.
I absolutely loathe cases where you have to slide the Phone/Tab into.
Not only are they difficult to put in and remove the device but they obstruct part of the screen and when you are swiping the leather edges can get in the way.
I much prefer the type that allows you to 'clip the Tab into place.
This method is easy to insert/remove and does not restrict the screen in any form.
Noreve do one (see here fore link) ~ This one has the added advantage of additional pockets for cards, notes, etc. and can be used as a stand to hold the Tab in Landscape.
Plus you can design the case to your own liking.
However, it's missing one vital ingredient for me and that is I would like to be able to remove the leather part that covers the screen.
I've seen cases where the case comes apart allowing you to remove the top screen cover which in turn makes it easier to hold and use the Tab when standing and if you put it down and want the screen on but not in it's stand you don't have a top cover flap hanging off at the side.
So... anyone seen a case similar to the Noreve but has a detachable screen cover?

It's an interesting design and as always the Apple brand gets the 'prettiest' of designs.
Not sure about that release mechanism though.... I'd rather have the top cover come completely off thus ensuring the sides and back are still protected.
Scosche Foldio is the best, no added bulk, easy to put in jacket pocket, even in a the back pocket of my jeans, easy to take out and show off if needed and makes an awesome stand.
I really like the Samsung Slide Release Sleeve. It protects the tab well but lets you get it out easily to use it. The Tab is a sexy device, no sense having it hidden away all the time!
I also have the "d30" leather travel case (from Carphone Warehouse) which is really nice for travelling (makes a good stand) but unfortunately it partially covers the soft buttons which can make it a pain to use.
I just received my ' Case Mate - Barely There '.
It is exactly what i was looking for. Not scared to place it on the table or sunroom floor anymore in case of scratching the back. I think the tab looks excellent in its all new black look
Now hopefully it will fit in the Brodit holder for my van
aha! TY for these links! helped me decide on 2 cases.

Best very thin/low bulk Inc case?

I want a case for my Incredible, that doesn't make it feel so bulky. Something light and thin yet offering decent protection.
What's the best option here? Seidio Surface? Griffin Reveal?

I got a 'speck' case recently from Verizon's site for $5. Its been in a few threads on this site. Very protective and doesn't feel bulky. Those seido ones look way too big, and they're expensive.

I just purchased a Seidio Innocase from amazon and it looks great and is not bulky. I carry it around in a hip case which my old otterbox didnt fit in.
Just got the Seidio Active case, but may not be what you're looking for.
I don't think it's bulky just because I already think our phone is too slim and too difficult to hold comfortably; it adds 2.2mm to depth of phone.
This may be what you're looking for:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4hK8IdPmU4&feature=player_embedded
i ordered the seidio rugged combo, comes with innocase and belt clip, i like it better than the otterbox defender, less bulk, solid and secure feel, and if you dont want the added bulk, you can just remove the "rugged" case and use the provided innocase..expensive but great buy, 2 cases in 1...
I have the Otterbox Commuter Case and it's perfect for me. The Defender series is like a tank comparatively.
<br></div></div>
I have the Seidio Surface case and I don't even notice a difference thickness wise. Seidio advertized it only adds 2mm to the phone's thickness.

Kinda like trying to handle that bar of soap that's been used down to about a quarter of an inch thick... Personally I liked the Body Glove case. My only gripe about it was the lip around the face of the phone was too big. It made using the full qwerty impossible and down actions on the track pad difficult. Good luck finding one though. The stores that have them keep them right next to the chicken teeth.
I too have the Seidio Surface case. It's great. Very slim, yet it offers protection to the camera lens.
I just got the seidio active case and i like it also its not bulky to me and it fits the phone really good.
I use the Incipio Feather case. It sounds like exactly what you're looking for. Decent protection and so slim you almost don't even know its there.

used to use one but not anymore. My screen shattered with one on and I never got a scratch before (6 months of having it and dropping it, sliding it face down).
Replaced the screen for $30 and now I don't use one because it's a hassle that I don't need.
It's useful for a lot of people though.
High Gloss Silicone
The Verizon High Gloss Silicone case is inexpensive, protects well, and add just enough thickness to protect the camera lense. My phone bounces when dropped onto concrete, but still slides easily in and out of my pocket.

Had shipped from Verizon for less than $10. It's what you are looking for. This is the case I have now after the speck case. Very light weight. Speck was nice, just turns from red to salmon after a while.

I use the otterbox commuter. It adds some much needed depth to my phone, as I love the dInc, but its too thin for me to hold comfortably. The added depth also has the pleasant side effect of protecting the camera lens. Its over a year old and there's not a scratch on the camera lens; only scratches on it are 2 corners nicked from a drop (cleaning the phone without the case on it) and some minor pocket rash on the screen.

+1. -- I've had this case since I've had my phone (brought case for $20 at that time) and I love this case. Doesn't at any weight or bulk to the phone. Phone is easy to take out of phone, does not get stuck like the other 'rubber' cases. Protects the phone very well, ports and buttons are accessible. Case is very easy to put on the phone and remove as well. I love it!

Slim case that actually stays on the phone?

Question about those with slim cases. I have noticed that most of the slim cases are not snug at all four corners. I have two right now, the ringke slim and the elago slim, and both have issues that prevent me from using them.
The elago case doesn't fit snugly at the bottom right or left corner. It is very easy to press it off of the phone. The ringke doesn't fit well at all and when I pick the phone up the sides flex in and creak. That drives me nuts.
I'm looking for a slim hard case that actually fits well. It doesn't have to be paper thin, but I want it to actually fit snugly and almost be a challenge to remove. I am sort of anal about my cases and these kind of fitment issues drive me nuts.

Case-mate Tough (REVIEW) and Case-mate Pop! (REVIEW) will fit that category. Tough is ridiculously slim yet made of two layers, while Pop! is a molded two layers and to hard to remove that you need to push on the camera. Based on your description - those are definitely two cases!

I have the Speck Candyshell and I'm mostly satisfied with it (still searching for the right case). It's 1 piece, hard plastic along all edges, covers all 4 corners, and fits snug. It is slim given the 2 layer protection (plastic and silicone). Two things make me unhappy with it: 1) it has no grip and very slippery; 2) the black plastic shows every scratch (its also available in pink, which probably hides scratches better).
I may try the case below since it's similar to the Candyshell.

Thanks for the suggestions. So far I haven't been able to find one I really like. It seems like most companies are trying to go so thin that they aren't making a case that fits well.

Spigen SGP slim case. It fits very tightly (no moving or creaking), covers most of corner areas and comes with a great Spigen screen protector. Only $20.
Thanks, I just ordered the Spigen. I will see how it feels. I couldn't stand the elago, the corners would almost slide off with no effort. I'm used to a very strong click when a case pops into place, and that case not moving unless I basically pry it off.

I use a Mercury pink case I got from Amazon, which is slim and snug. The right corner is exposed, but it doesn't interfere with the phone staying in place at all. There's different colors sold separately or two sold together.

Get this case! Fits slim and great, great feel and decent protection. Very slim and pretty good grip. I have gotten 4 cases and this one easily wins hands down. $20 may seem a bit steep, but it is well built and you won't regret it!

I own several cases now, but sometimes cheap and simple ends up beating the rest. The one I use more often is still the X-Line TPU. It is ridiculously cheap but a very tight fit and with a very good texture that really gives extra grip. It also looks pretty good, which is surprising for cheap TPUs. I strongly recommend it.

This is a good, snug, and fairly slim TPU case that I got after trying and returning the Ringke and others: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009WDWBH6/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It comes in several colors also.

I picked up that case last week, and have been using it ever since. It's very snug on the phone, but still easy to get on or off as needed. The holes line up perfectly, it's very comfortable to hold, plenty grippy, and looks much nicer than the $3 price tag. Back is a bit of a fingerprint magnet, but not a terrible lint collector. Doesn't add much bulk to the phone at all.

I have one of those ultra thin 0.5mm cases that's almost not like having a case at all. I don't ever drop my phone, but prefer to run one of these cases to prevent scratches on the phone. Best of all, it's under $2 shipped, and doesn't have any open edges, which makes it stay on the phone very well.
I can't post links due to post count, but just search on ebay for, "Black Ultra Thin Semi Clear Plastic Cover Case Samsung Galaxy Note 2"
I use the elago G6 slim case and I absolutely love it.
I've never had a problem with it popping off and I'm not overly gentle with it. Everyone uses their phone differently and it obviously didn't work for the OP, but I just wanted to stick up for it a little bit.

Searching a simple case - NON FLIP !

Hi there,
I am looking for a case for my Note. I am seriously sick of flip cases. I don't see any good use for them as they just add a layer of annoyance for me.
What I am looking for is a case that wraps around the corners.
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/samsung/galaxy-note-2-cases/galaxy-note-2-case-ultra-thin-air.html
Like this but wrapping the top and bottom too.
I have a few bumps and scratches I would like to hide.
I can't find a case.
Isn't there any case prefably made out of leather or even faux leather that just wraps my phone ?
edit/
This is acutally exactly what I want (bare in mind this is a case for the Note not the Note2 !!!
http://www.spigen.com/cell-phone/samsung/sgp-samsung-galaxy-note-case-ultra-capsule-series.html
1) very similar to ultra thin air and the like but covers a little better and has good reviews from people on xda: http://www.amazon.com/DBA-Cases-Abu...32909&sr=8-1&keywords=dba+cases+galaxy+note+2
2) casemate tough- thinnest case that provides protection comparable to aegis, uag, and otterbox: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...&sr=1-6&keywords=casemate+tough+galaxy+note+2
3) closest thing you will find to a thin leather case but with no protection on top or bottom: http://www.zoarah.com/foxjail-air-pocket-case-for-galaxy-note-2.html
The last one definetely goes into the right direction but it looks pretty damn ugly to be honest.

lol, you do realize that the ultra capsule that "you exactly want" is Made from 100% TPU material. look at the information on the website itself. anyway, the closest thing i know that makes that is the mercury tpu case here (i own a white one- it's definitely a great tpu- not flexible like the cruzerlite cases- its a harder tpu for sure -very similar to the ultra capsule (i owned two for my galaxy note 1)): http://www.amazon.com/Mercury-Flexi...053&sr=1-2&keywords=mercury+tpu+galaxy+note+2
Case Mate Tough....slim but provides good protection. Inner layer is a TPU bumper with a hard shell.

that Spigen Note 1 case is TPU.
"SGP's Ultra Capsule case not only enhances the look of your device but also protects your phone from scratches and drops. It is made from thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), a very tough and flexible material. It can be twisted freely but will never stretch, deform, or rip."
If you want a non-TPU case that covers the corners and edges your options are: Speck, UAG, Otterbox, Duzign, Seido, Body Glove, and Case Mate.
I purchased the one in the link below. Very happy with it.

How 'bout the Galaxy Note II Body Glove Diamond Shell Case?

best thin case note 20 ultra with grip

I find most cases get slippery on the sides.
I had speck in the past but it was OK any others that you recommend thanks
From what I've seen so far:
1. Spigen Liquid Air - Seems to have some good grip potential, especially with ridges on the sides. However, the gap around the camera bump is an interesting design choice...
2. Samsung OEM Matte Black Silicone Case - Seems to have a decent grip on the matte finish and very minimal.
3. Pitaka Air or MagEZ Case - While I haven't used them myself, I've heard good things about the grip/feel of the Ipitaka cases.
I'm personally going to try the PItaka MagEZ case when it becomes available (Aug 21st) since I like the idea of having embedded metal so I don't have to stick a scosche metal piece on the back of the case.
Also, just a heads up. According to some initial reviews on the new speck 'grip' cases, they're using a more plastic-feeling material for grips instead of rubberized and people are not happy about it. (I previously used them as well)
I switch phones often, but one thing that remains constant is my Pitaka MagEZ cases. Have purchased well over 10 of them at this point. Wouldn't choose any other thin case

Yes I've seen the one the only concern I've read it's a little difficult to remove the spen.. Your thoughts.
I will never choose Pitaka again.
Edges are rough and the upper part could have covered more
But I especially won't because it damaged my Note 10+ because of a defect in the inside of the case that made a grain of sand sized hole in the back of my phone.
Been using the Zizo Bolt on my Note 10+ for over 6 months. Excellent grip, usability and protection.
Kick stand doubles as a grip; either fully retract/extend it to keep from losing it's pins, if not secured in either position they can work their way out in your pocket! No issues with this case otherwise.
The one for the 20 seems to come with a temper glass screen protector; that may not work so well.
That's not present on the one for the 10.
Presumably you can use it without and substitute one one your choice?
Damn the 20's cam has a big bullseye on it... no likey. Buying a good case for the 10+ was very hard early on, no doubt the 20 U will be harder to protect

you know i never thought trying to find a case was going to leave me so hard pressed. note i do not mind the camera bump one bit. but they could have rounded out the camera hump a bit more. not the corners, but where the surface meets the edges and also they could have slanted the sides a bit more angled. who knows they did pull it off pretty good.
still on the camera bump.
note: with JJNUSA leather case you will be covering the mic on the camera bump. if that is a problem for you look elsewhere for a case.
i have received 200 in incentives to order goodies when i got my phone pre ordered and used it to order a few cases.
cases i ordered:
samsung rugged: bulky, heavy, don't like the texture on the back and flimsy kickstands that shoot off when used

samsun silicon: unsure if food grade safe. and slippery as glass

spigen Rugged Armor: oddly best all tpu case with carbon fiber accents. the back is slippery if trying to reach across the screen. side bumpers have one way slip grip and flimsy. camera is well protected. pen cut out too deep corner exposed but covered. top /bottom bumper good but top may block ear piece. 2g heavier then jjnusa leather
...now my official review of the JJNUSA Handmade Leather Case...
NOTE i used amazon prime
don't let the first pic they have on amazon throw you off, but what bothers me is the video they added to the product and it is of the s20 ultra; the camera lens is so scratched. i am still baffled how they did that. then again we will see in due time, because i can not stand the samsung leather case(which got me hooked on leather cases oddly) it is too slippery. the jjnusa case has tpu sides and saddle leather on back with plastic on the inside that the phone rests on. but i will say the leather on the back is so soft i think it sorta makes up for the lack of suede like the official samsung case has. then again the leather is so thick its' edges pop out the mold a teensy-weensy bit, but i doubt with proper use and not picking at it it will survive for a long time. with the 5% off coupon i also got another 1 usd off(who knows if it was the amazon prime). so for 19.95 it is a steal. most other leather cases are $30+. a steal; why may you say? hold on let me get to the rest of it. if we all remember the lg g4 leather back it was a looker. that was it, because it scratched easily and punctured easily. then we go onto the samsung leather case that scratches easily with minimal show. further more i can not say what that will mean over long term usage with this case from jjnusa. treat it lightly and it should be fine. now back to the leather on the jjnusa case. the leather reminds me of the type you get on a saddle and does not separate from itself. that is a plus. but a minus if the antiquing they use comes off very very easily?, and it does(con or not?) i had a cane that had antiquing and it turned my hands black, but after it leveled out it was fine. you know they always slap so much on to fill in the design that almost certainly more then half they put on will rub off. i have rubbed off some already. hence it would not rub off like wow, i had to use my nail. no way does it show like scratches on the samsung leather case. either way the extra antiquing will no matter what fade away over time and settle down to where it should be. i still think it will look good. at the same time the leather is much more scratch resistant then the latter. and the design and the look really grew on me. now on to the sides. the power button and volume are labeled with symbols and i like it even though i will never look at it. what else i like is that they are tpu like the rest of the sides. the tactile of the buttons are sturdy then again not too stiff not too mushy. then there is a bonus or an achilles heal; you move down the same side as the buttons and find a wrist strap punch out so you can add a wrist strap. have not tested it, seems like it should be worthy of use and not fearing. the bonus is removing the phone from the case, it does not shoot out like it does with the samsung leather case does. still it holds it in better. this is where i tell you that the jjnusa case has way better screen protection that leaves a better feel in the hand. the samsung leather case has a squidgy spongy top and bottom. the bottom is already warped and i never used it; i just put it on a few times and took it off. also a fail for the bottom bumper is the difficulty to remove the spen without nails. the jjnusa case is cut out just right and since it is thinner and more stiffer in a good way you can press your thumb or finger and hear that satisfying click to eject it. with that said the top and bottom bumper are raised higher then the samsung to protect the screen. the samsung case is more flush and flimsy.
i am a happy camper and if it fairs well i will update to 5 stars from 4, but i am really thinking at the price to slap down for another. as we all know leather cases do not last as long as other types
the reason i gave it 4 stars is i never really heard of JJNUSA till i saw them on etsy.com and since they where based in china i thought meh. then i thought to ebay's third party cases and said but leather? does not smell much like leather, oddly that is how saddles with the same type of leather smells. or it could be the antiquing they used and the shipping package. it was not shipped in a box or cheap plastic, it was in a cloth sleeve in a sealed padded envelope. JJNUSA do claim Oregon origins... yeah right etsy.com says ships from china.
i have played around with plenty of cases and phones in cases so it's not like i only have really had the note 20 ultra... just do not get one of them ultra thin all tpu cases. i have one for my lg g4 and only really protects the sides and back. busted the screen.
