Your recovery flash didn't take... That's the stock recovery

Hi XDA, as title says, i cant get boot into recovery...
I have an HTC Dream (Spanish version of G1), and Im having problems with the recovery boot.
I have root done on the phone and i've tried to install a new recovery via Clockwork app, adb shell, also via Fastboot and via "RECOVERY FLASHER"...
All of them look to finish succesfully, but I still cant boot onto recovery.
Every time I try to boot on recovery, the phone gets hang on the company logo... until I get out the battery to turn it off.
I dont know what can I try more...
Any idea ?
Thanks
If you cannot boot into recovery by holding down Home and Power, then you're bricked, I believe. What were you trying to do?

I can boot normally, and I run apps that need root correctly, but I want to boot into recovery to flash a custom ROM...
Clockwork mod needs to reboot into recovery to reflash a Custom ROM, so I cant get another rom that way neither.
Any idea (again)?
Do you have terminal on your phone? Download amon RA recovery 1.7.0 for HTC Dream and use that instead Clockwork because it is most recommended. Rename it to recovery.img and move it to the root of your SD card.
Go to terminal on your phone and type:
cd sdcard
flash_image recovery recovery.img
Now try to boot into recovery mode.

If you have root access, then you can try to (re-)install your recovery image using adb.
Open a shell using the command
adb shell
and then from there you can try to flash the recovery image by entering
flash_image recovery recovery.img
where recovery.img is the name of the recovery image you want to install and it should be located in the current directory.
Edit: two people same ideas ... ;-)
Both things re-done...
Nuthin'
Anything else ?
Thanks for the answers anyway
Bump...
Any help ?
Fastboot is working for me, but I have the default SPL and I cant use "fastboot flash new_recovery.img" ---> Not allowed.
Theres a way to flash another SPL using phone terminal, or using fastboot ?
Thanks
I'm not sure, but if I was in the same boots as you, I would download the DREAIMG.nhb and flash that in fastboot. Once done, you'll be on Stock RC29. Yep, you're going to have to root again and re-install a custom recovery.
This is also safe to do since you're on HBOOT-0.95.000.

Thanks for everything guys...
But now im looking for a "Howto unbrick G1"...
I dont have fastboot, recovery boot or normal boot...
Alright, I give up.
I've wasted one full day and all I do is keep going in circles. I have an unlocked bootloader but I am not able to flash custom recovery to it. When I do:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-passion-v2.2.1.img
it is successful but am having the problem mentioned here:
"Make sure that init.rc isn't calling any install-recovery.sh script, otherwise you'll boot back to stock recovery (exclamation mark with a little Android)."
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10467058&postcount=1638
So, no custom rom because I cant turn off verification in order to flash custom rom zip file. Now the problem is that I can't even fix this problem because I don't have root so I can't delete the following files:
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
/system/recovery-from-boot.p
When I try adb shell it keeps saying "permission denied"
It gets better - I've managed to mess things up royally even further. I tried flashing FRG83 system image using "flashboot update update.zip". It was successful but now my phone is going in boot loop!!
Can someone please help me before I lose hope in humanity?
Recovery is only restored when you boot into system, so the idea is that you flash recovery, and go straight into it via the on phone menu, and then install what you need to...
You can either flash a pre-rooted GB, flash the su.zip and then you'll have su access to delete the files when in system or adb, or flash this zip which will remove the two files...

my nexus one is 2.3.4.. any kind soul can guide me.
Thanks!!
Why not just start over if you are that stuck, passimg to stock. Or fastboot flash the img.
Passimg back to stock then seeing as you were trying to use this I'm going to suppose you already have an unlocked bootloader so just flash a custom recovery then flash su from recovery all the files you need are in my sig.
Monday i receive my IncS, as im making the switch from a iPhone.
So iv'e been reading in here to learn about Andorid and how to flash custom ROM.
However, I have a question after reading various strings in here, and I'm sorry if it's stupid one...
I will get S-OFF with a XT-Clips, so i can install a custom ROM.
But how about Recovery?
Is it enough to install madmaxx82 4EXTRecovery to be able to boot into Recovery by pressing Power and Vol down?
Or do i have to install RomManager also to be able to boot into Recovery, so i can flash .zip's?
And where is the Recovery image stored?
That's all for now ;-)
If you have a software version lower than 2.30.405,1, you can root and s-off without a xtc clip. You can install the 4EXTRecovery and get into recovery with power and vol down. I'd recommend installing clockworkmod so you can use rom manager with it. Rom manager also lets you boot into recovery,
Do you need to install clockworkmod for booting into Recovery and flash 4EXT Recovery?
Or can you boot into Recovery with a new phone and flash 4EXT?
I guess my question is, if you have a new phone, how do you boot into Recovery to flash madmaxx82 4EXT?
When i boot a new phone with power and vol down and choose Recovery, i get a a red triangle with an exclamation.

If you get a recovery image this is in a zip file, then you simply copy it to the root of your SD card and rename it PG32IMG.zip. Then the next time you boot into bootloader mode, it will find the PG32IMG.zip file and install it.
Then you can get into recovery.

Hello.
I tried to flash a custom rom on my phone with s-on. I followed the instructions that told me to extract boot.img from the zip and flash it first and then the rom as I had s-on.
But after flashing the phone reboots into recovery. It doesn't go in the system. I can't get the internal sd to mount in the TWRP recovery as well. I tried CWM too but was not able to mount the internal memory.
As I have s-on I can't even flash the stock ruu and because it doesn't go into the system there is no way for me to check USB debugging. I'm screwed.
Can anyone please help me ?

you haven't read the rules :/
first you don't have to flash the boot.IMG separately on HTC One, just flash the ROM via recovery
second it is impossible to mount your SD card in recovery
try sideload

It said in the flashing instructions that if the phone is s-on you have to flash boot.img first.
My phone is s-on so I flashed boot.img first. Now it boots into recovery instead of system.
Also my phone is not detected by adb. So I can't use sideload. It is detected by fastboot but not adb
How can I make it detect adb?

no ROM for HTC One requires flashing boot.img first while on S-ON
uninstall your previous HTC drivers and HTC Sync Manager, restart your PC
download and install the following: http://download1801.mediafire.com/lbsjht9823lg/e21a0cc4268dg9d/HTCDriver_4.10.0.001.msi
sideload guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2318497
connect your device, go into recovery and start sideload
make sure you detect your device before starting sideload; "adb devices"

Okay I was able to flash the RUU and go back to stock but the phone keeps rebooting
It goes to lock screen and after I swipe to unlock, it is stuck on HTC logo until it reboots back.
Even when I flashed any custom ROMs the same thing happened.
It went to lock screen and after unlocking, it gets stuck on HTC logo.
What can I do?
