Loving my note 2 but I find it slippery to hold and a pain to prop up against things as it just slides away from anything you lean it up against. I know there are big rubber cases available but I was wondering if anyone has come across a rubberised replacement back to give me the added grip without the extra bulk of a case.
Any ideas to improve this lack of grip without adding a bulky case?

This isn't quite the same, but I got the nilkin case, which is very thin,
and when I put it in the case, I removed the back cover.
It's barely thicker. Maybe half a mm.

Ive had a look a the nilkin case looks ok but I think its a harder rubber almost plastic. Im after a grippy soft rubber what would be perfect is a back cover which has the same feel as the battery cover on a sky tv remote. The skinomi looks interesting

does the nilkin case have multiple layers? if so.. does it separate?

You could also try eGrips.com and then you don't need a new back cover or case.

You can try using plasti dip. It's removable if you don't like it.

How about this case? Texturized back made out of TPU. Super thin, too.

You are correct, it's pretty plasticy. It's a single layer - pretty simple case, no frills.
And yes, I lose NFC. If I ever come into a situation where I ever could use it, then I might start to care. So far, I don't.

Need something grippy... lying on my back phone flies from my hand and kicks me in the teeth!
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
You could plasticoat the back yourself, or use a textured vinyl.
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Chunology that case seems ok but its made from hard plastic so wont have the grip im after. Yes I think texturising the back with some sort of self adhesive non slip material is the way to go... gadget grips or similar its just a shame they dont make one that fits the back of the phone perfectly like a screen cover does.
Maybe a gap in the tech market!

plasti-dip would probably work well. They have a texturered finish spray can too

I ordered some regular black plastidip, should arrive on monday, I'll let you know how it works.
Plastidip is overpriced in the UK for some reason though. It's about $6 a can in the US and about £16 a can in the UK :/
The Zagg/Best Skins ever, body guards clear protective skins have a rubbery feel and offers improved grip over the shiny plastic.
this case is idential to nikkin without the logo.

Yeah let me know how the plastidip works. Im interested to know if it peels off easily. Ive now bought a hybrid case very similar to the one posted above in that ebay link. Im fairly happy with it mines white hard plastic slim not bulky and it has a rubberised coating on it plus mine was only £3.90 on ebay . I found the rubber coating felt slippery when it was new but ive had it a week now and the grip seems to be improving.

Is there some sort of case that I can use to protect the back of the phone that works with the flip cover? I can almost get a gel case on the back, but without making some modifications with a craft knife (I am useless at that sort of thing), I can't fold the cover back with it attached.
There must be some solution out here that allows me to use the flip cover with protection on the back?
Thanks for any advice.
I would like to know this too. Any info would be much appreciated.

Case Combo that Works
I use both a Flip Case and a Hybrid Case together giving me front cover, all around protection and kickstand. I attached the flip case. I then cut a small section from the left side of the hybrid case to allow the cover on the flip to open freely and attached it to the GN2 with the flip cover. Here are the ebay products I used:
Black Luxury Flip Case Brushed Cover For Samsung Galaxy Note 2 II N7100 NEW - $8.66
Black Hybrid Jolt Hard TPU Case Cover Kickstand For Samsung Galaxy Note II 2 - $9.95

Its just the cutting part I wanted to avoid. Im quite surprised samsung didnt develop a back case to compliment the flip cover.
Looks like im gonna have to try and cut a section out of my gel case then, or find someone who has some cutting skills.

Hmm,a badly cut edge could scratch the metal part.which is not replaceable. Since you're thinking of buying a case anyway, why not spend the extra 5 dollars and go for one's with built in flip cover. They look the same the oems

I'm looking for a case with great protection like the gumdrop/active case.
I dont want to have to use the "thick" screen protector that comes with those cases, I want to use a "flap" so that when I'm not using it I close it, and when I want to use it I get the "real" screen.
I know there hard cases with a closing flap but I want the protection of the thicker/softer rubber. I know the active case has a "lid", but I want it to be like a smartcover.
However I don't want a briefcase like the pelican.
I can't be the first person to be searching for a product like this?
Thanx!
Don't think they exist

Yes I saw that guide but I am really loking for a bit more protection than the original cover.
Would also like to be able to Lock it in place so that it doesn't open in my backpack!
Also from the looks of it, the gumdrop/active case will keep there shape and not start losing there shape after being broken in!
Strange, I would thought that this is what most people would want to have?
The Speck FitFolio has great protection and the top flap latches securely.

Yes that looks like a good one, but not sure how much the hard plastic will help against a corner landning...
There's a thread here somewhere with someone making the case you want out of two others. A tpu case and the flap from one like the speck.
What about the book-like cases mentioned in some of the threads here? Where the tablet gets mounted in a wooden frame (these all seem to be eco friendly) and the "book cover" part is cloth (covered cardboard I'd guess keeping with the eco friendly theme) that acts just like a flap that you're looking for.

Got my Moko case for the N7 yesterday. Fits my requirements , and im happy with it.
http://www.amazon.com/MoKo-Slim-fit-Google-Android-Tablet/dp/B008FLYROG
Those fake leather cases with a flap, wake/sleep magnet functionality, cases are easy to get hold of and I like mine. Got it from China with a stylus and screen protector for about $9.95. Can get just the case for $4/$5 though.
The one I bought: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Reta...and-magnetic-sleep-wake-Sensor/604378626.html

I could but it has been proved many times before that Otterbox cases protect the phone in drop tests.
Thanks for the review! I have owned Otterbox cases in the past and they were OK (my old iPhone 4S Defender case was not that good though - it lost its original shape pretty quickly)
That's true, however I have yet to discover ANY for the note 2 commuter. I'm sure it'd get pretty popular being the only one in existence. Since the note 2 is so much bigger, I'd like to see if the result s are the same.

I find myself using my defender more often now since my phone has taken a few dives off of tables from sliding in the commuter case. You could always put something like a fly grip on the back, but I personally find those to be ugly.
I still use my Commuter, but the defender is a better case design (remove built in screen protector) and the size difference is minimal between the two cases.

In the defender thread there someone complaining that after he removed the screen protector from the defender the screen was scratch by touching the hard inner plastic.
I wouldn't know. I use a full coverage screen protector so plastic doesn't actually touch my screen or bezel and I have yet to see any scratches on the protector. I'm not sure how plastic can scratch a gg2 screen considering the hardness of the two materials. Perhaps he got the scratch from a harder material and didn't notice till later

Does anyone have this one? I had a bumper on an iPhone previously and liked how it gave it some grab when I set it down on a table. But also gives some protection while keeping it closer to naked.

Is it pretty thin? Also, is the bumper flush with the case on the back? I had a Belkin one on my games horrible.
Don't have it myself, but heard it scratches and very slippery.
I have this case and it's great. My coworker has the black one and it does scratch quite easily and is noticeable, but I have the white one, so it's not too bad. It's slim and protects the screen well. It's not as nice as the OEM S3 one but it works well and matches nicely.
I currently use the black one. It has a great design because the back is glossy which helps you slide the phone in and out of the pocket with ease and offers protection with minimal bulk. You can also put the screen face down without worry of scratching the screen. The buttons are also covered by the bumber so you dont need to worry about the buttons wearing down from moisture.

Just to let you know, if you don't already, that this is more of a case than a bumper. Everyone keeps throwing around the word bumper. This case does have a back. It is not a bumper in the sense that it only surrounds the sides of the phone.

Yes. Thanks for clarifying in the thread though. I'm going to give it a try and will report back. I'm not a fan of cases in general, but I dropped my last s3 and it was forever scarred with a scrape on the corner of the bezel.
Seems like it would be cool of Samsung made it so you removed the oem back and then attached the bumper case using the clips. Vs adding a second back.
