This phone is a piece of... - Nexus 4 General

... stupendously awesome hardware! I've had my N4 for a couple of days and it's been pretty nice, just rooted for TB and StickMount but apart from that absolutely stock. Upgraded from my Galaxy Nexus and can't think of any pros in favour of the GNex. Basically here's what I think about it:
Pros:
- Awesome build, the hold and feel of it is just miles better than any other android phone I've ever held (Note, I've never held a One X, but I can't imagine polycarbonate being better than glass). Although that makes it more fragile, but I keep it in a Mofi pouch to avoid scratches from surface although I don't plan on protecting it with a screen guard or cover (don't wanna loose that feel).
- Extremely fast, it's like the fastest thing out there. Puts my Nexus 7 to shame at times
- Camera's nice. Much better than the GNex, still slightly worse than a friend's GS3.
- The screen is beautiful, sure it has poorer blacks than AMOLED but otherwise the vibrancy and color reproduction is much better.
- Speaker has good volume and clarity, even when face up it doesn't get muffled to a point of silence.
- HUGE amounts of RAM makes multitasking an even more awesome experience
- Pretty much everything else everyone else as said so far...I don't need to repeat I guess
Cons:
- Awesome build, two sides of a coin I guess. Makes it pretty delicate.
- Gets hot, not unbearably but still pretty noticeable.
- Battery life can be slightly better, but it's been two days and I haven't started using custom kernels. I'm still managing more on stock than I could with my GNex with franco's
- No USB Host mode...seriously...Google?
- Can't think of anything else, it's a pretty good phone. Not going to include removable battery because I've never used an external battery.
So, in a nutshell it is a stupendously awesome phone.

I concur about the build quality. I am NOT putting a case on this phone. It's too gorgeous. Amex has me covered for 1 year for free as far as accidental damage or build flaws go anyway, and after 1 year I'll be buying the 'Nexus 5'.

You probably will find one more "con" for your list if you're intending to use StickMount: the N4 doesn't support USB host mode (the hardware doesn't supply the 5V needed to power flash drives and other USB peripherals). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Otherwise, I agree with the overall positive assessment.

I'm still hopefully someone will get it up and running with a Y-cable and a custom Kernal. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I did buy a Wi-Drive from Kingston that will keep me held over for now....but when I fly (very infrequently) I may be SOL due to it being a "wifi device" and I will cause a plane crash (not).

Yes! Very pleased with this phone so far. Came from the gs2 and it is definitely a fine piece of hardware!!

well said and I agree 100% OP

I got mine yesterday and agree 100%. Coming from the Galaxy Nexus, I'd add the speaker volume to the pros list. The sound quality isn't great, but at least I can hear my phone ring. I missed so many calls on my GNex...

agreed... (plus I love the screen much more on the N4 than the GNex.. reason I sold my Gnex)

While the height is almost identical as my gnex, I love that it is slightly wider. I always felt my gnex was too skinny.

Just wanted to comment, I to love this phone! I keep wanting to try custom Roms and kernels but trying to force myself to enjoy stock - first time on a nexus came from HTC and Samsung.
Only con would be battery life, doesn't seem bad but way less then the iPhone 4 I have been using for the last few weeks.
Maybe custom roms and kernels would help in that area though.

Isn't Amex accidental coverage only 90 days? That's the time period for my Amex Blue.

1 year? I see its 90 days.... what card are you using?
edit: bleuiko beat me to it, same question. My Gold and Skymiles both say its 90 days.

I love the phone but Charles Barkley thinks it's turrible, turrible.

Visa also offers insurance for these phones after the one year manufacturer warranty is done.

Agreed, added to OP. BTW, my phone has a small scratch/chip on the glass just above the volume rocker. Not really visible unless you hold it an inch close under direct lighting but kinda annoyed me for an hour before .

This phone has some crazy ass multi tasking capabilities, had two games downloading in background (those in app downloads) and playing a third while occasionally switching to music/web browsing and YouTube and didn't lose any one of them

Build quality is atrocious!

Well, my thrill is going back tomorrow for a refund. I'm on my second from Amazon, and both of them had horrible issues. Battery life was about 6 hours max with light use, screen accuracy was in the toilet, and it would get so hot while charging, it would reboot constantly. The final straw was my replacement got so hot, the adhesive holding the glass melted, leaving black goop dripping down the inside of my screen, and making touch input impossible. I thought I'd give LG another chance after the G2x fiasco, but that was a HUGE mistake. Good thing the GS2 comes out Sunday.
i have had no issues with my thrill my battery like is good with normal use i can go 12-14 hrs i have never had a restart and my thrill does not get hot while charging maybe they gave all the defected ones to amazon lol

I second that, my build quality superb. I've had an S2 International it is great also, but good luck w/ http://www.redmondpie.com/security-flaw-in-att-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-variant-lets-you-bypass-pin-unlock-pattern-video/.
Also zero build quality issues here. Battery life has increased substantially since I first got the phone. Getting through a day is no problem at all anymore.

Agreed... Im really loving this phone... Can't wait fir a solid gb build and followed by ICS... With our tridual omap... We will have a port fairly quick compared to others... because ICS is meant to focus in the tridual architechture... Side note... I was looking up research on our processor and the omap4430 was built to include major battery performance tweaks... It is definetly not the devices fault... side side note: looks like the omap4430 can support up to 20 mp camera thats just pretty cool info...

Well, even if I'm in the minority here (and i have no doubts that I am), the phone is just unusable and I'm already on my replacement. I paid $400 for this thing off contract, and not only am I not completely happy, I'm 100% frustrated and annoyed with it. Tried stock, Thriller and CM, and while a custom rom was better, it's still not GOOD.
As I have found out through out the years, To each his own. I am sure your issues are real. It sounds like your mind is made up so i wish you will on your endevor
So far My Thrill had been great. The Build is very nice. I wouldlike at least Ginger Bread or even ICS but it is what it is. $25 compard to $200. I will keep the thrill for a bit

I really like the brushed metal effect on the top and bottom strips. And the beveled edge all around the front. I like the trim on the camera lenses. I think the dual stage camera shutter button would be great, but looks really out of place on the evo (being big, round, and silver in an otherwise black phone).

Yes! And I don't know why, but it reminds me of the Samsung Behold .
whoever had that realy defective thrill, dont blame it on lg lol. idk but so far from what ive seen or read everyone else has a really good one. prolly cuz we got it from at&t. idk. i got mine from att and its perfect. i couldnt b happier with it. every aspect of it is perfect to me. EXCEPT of course battery life. my last phone, after about 1.5 years of use i had to charge it once every 2 days. but this one i gotta charge it daily. bat lasts like 18 hours MAX. and thats if i use it like a normal person but no calls. just mess around and stuff.
all the defective thrills ive read about so far on this forum all sound like the phones that the insurance sends u if u "accidentally" lose it. or the waranty sends u. the refurbrished kind of phones. my last phone i had to get replaced. the one i got from att was amazing. i mean the plastic and everything just felt like it was quality. then when i got the replacement in the mail (cuz mine was "lost") it was just screaming MADE IN CHINA!!!!!!! plastic felt like they got it off from a water bottle. it generaly just felt like it was cheap mickey mouse quality. maybe thats what they sent u with amazon. i kinda feel the same about my thril now. it has amazing quality...screaming MADE IN 'MERICA F*K YEAH!!!!!! lol. but im sure if i were to "accidentally" misplace it in my other pocket and tell them i lost it, theyll send me a cheap version of it that looks the same but feels like china
The build quality is what put me over the edge... usually I go for the phone with the most development and customer roms, etc. And I had planned on waiting for the GS2... but the build quality on this was HTC solid, with Samsung like screen, and very solid out of box performance. Figured for $20 from Amazon, I might as well save $100+ that I can put towards a Nexus Prime in a couple months.
i fourth that !
Lol, I love this lg thrill much more than my samsung infuse.. I did love that samsung infuse, but i took a shot when someone wanted to trade the their lg thrill for my samsung infuse yay for me !
But yeah I usually get the 14-16 hours on light use with this phone, a little pandora, surfing, twitter, fb, abd alot of texting, is what I base my "light use" from.
anyways I love this phone I'm surprised people are selling it for 200 on craigslist -__-
This phone has a lot of potential.
Quintupled, as it were.

I second that. I actually returned my Galaxy S II because I saw this gem for $20 at WalMart. Had Best Buy price match it, and I must say, best $20 I've ever spent. I will wait for the Nexus Prime as well.

[POLL] Who's actually happy with the N4

Are you?
EDIT: If you're unhappy, speak up here.
Minus the little EMI interference on the earpiece, absolutely. Super fast, great battery life, beautiful design.
Exactly what he said - I only get the interference in calls and not every call. Other than that, awesome phone.
I am really happy with it as well. I came from a epic 4g to this so it is an amazing difference. Better battery life and super fast.
I think it is all relative. I am sure people jumping from much better phones like GS3 will not be as impressed with this device as I have.

OP, you may want to keep this poll open a bit longer considering some of the limbo/backordered people are only now getting their phones shipped to them.
With a piss poor camera and a lackluster display with it's specs I am happy for the price I paid but if this was $500-600 off contract I would stay away myself... I have a Note 2 and an S3 and my Note 2 crushes this phone IMO and the S3 is close but then again it does not offer you that pure "GOOGLE" experience either and the S3 has soo many tweaks out and better optics and display (IMO) it's just what you want out of your device but I am thrilled to own it! It will definitely be my flashaholic phone!
EDIT: Okay guys I have had it for awhile now and I DO think the screen is VERY nice so I take away my comment from above but I am kinda disappointed in the camera's but who cares really! I am charging it wirelessly as I type... Time to start flashin!
;( I wish they would let me change my vote.... lol This just goes to show that you can NEVER judge a phone or anything for that matter, before it has been FULLY tested and I admit I spoke too soon! I LOVE the N4 on my T-mobile $30 Monthly 4G plan! You just cannot compare this phone to any other!
Oops, accidentally gave the guy above me a thanks. But I'm completely happy with this device. There is absolutely nothing I would change about it.

Opinion is just that and since he didn't ask what phone you thought was better, maybe you should have kept it to yourself? Its troll bait and as you state twice. Just your opinion.
Of course, If I spent as much as you on those two other phones (which, IMO are not even close to this phone) I would try to justify it just as badly as you have, ..
Maybe u should add something to the poll like:
"I can't evaluate this because Google is too incompetent to ship the Nexus 4"

pretty happy with my n4 however my bottom left corner squeaks when squeezing it lol.... anyone else with this problem?
I read so many posts of people being upset about this or that so I was skeptical, but now that I have had it in my hands for 2 days........I love it its the best phone I ever had. I am on T-Mobile and came from a One S and a S3 and don't miss either device. The hardware feels premium, much better than the S3 and right up there with the One S which despite its shortcomings had great build quality which I missed when I moved to an S3. I will be sticking with my Nexus 4 for a while.

Better than my GNex for sure , only bummer is that Android still produces low volume through the headphone jack
I came from an S3 and I have to say, I'm enjoying the Nexus 4 a lot more. As soon as I'm able to get my backups installed (Ubuntu and Android don't seem to be playing well unfortunately) I'll be able to enjoy it a lot more.
I'm coming from an Infuse 4G, so it's a big step and I'm definitely happy. The only real issue I have so far is that the phone slides if it's on a smooth surface that isn't completely flat. Like my laptop in its dock is a hair higher in the back than the front, and the phone doesn't stay put, it slides toward me. Same on tables, mouse pads, etc. Needs a little bit more friction.

i went to the att store today and played with this phone and i can say im definately not impressed at all. i compared the screen side by side and the difference in the 2 screens is really noticable. Also it so reminds me of a iphone i dont know why but it just does. i know alot of people are gonna argue my opinion but as for a phone guru as myself i can pretty much say its not any kind of a flagship device. only thing that may be good about it more than my HTC One is battery life. I al really hoping the hanami is gonna be a great phone and be my next purchase

People crying over the dual-core processor...Motorola decided to choose what mattered more, which is battery life over "raw computing power". without increasing the size or the weight of the phone by adding a bigger and bulkier battery. Our phones just need to be fast and smooth enough for our every day tasks such as watching videos, playing games, browsing etc. We're not using these things for high end computing or folding proteins etc. Just like a computer with a 12 core processor won't matter if you're still using HDD and not SSD. Or people who only care about the "horses" on a car and disregard the weight of the vehicle or its transmission etc. I don't think people understand the software possibilities of having hardware designed for "always-on" mode besides the touchless google now feature. I've tried installing a voice assistant like the one on Moto X from the play store and my battery died within a couple hours with the screen off. The X8 system is really redefining how conventional smartphones would work in the future once people realize the possibilities that can bring. Now whether or not you agree that your smartphone should always be on and listening/aware is a different debate.

The phone isn't underpowered. Its GLBenchmark results are better than the SGS4 and HTC One. The CPU is two Krait 300 cores (which is the same as what's in the Snapdragon 600). With two cores disabled on the Nexus 4, the device runs just fine. If I can get this device for a good price, it will be my next phone.
I'll be the first to admit I wrong (there I said it). When I first heard the specs and price point, I figured Moto was doomed and their marketing gurus priced them right out of a comeback. Again, I was wrong.
Friday I picked up a Galaxy Mega 6.3 from AT&T and I took it back on Saturday afternoon. Very laggy (not as much as the S4 though), it was huge (and I'm a big guy at 6'3" 330lbs), the only thing I can say was good was the typing experience because I had so much room on the screen. But the phone was just too big, probably a great device in the end but just not for me.
Saturday afternoon I picked up the Black AT&T Moto X and this phone is fantastic and I don't say that about a lot of phones at all (I think the last time I said it was in 2007 when the first iPhone came out (yes I've used and respect all of the OS's, each has their own pluses and minuses) and before that, when the Moto Razr came out.
The phone feels perfect (IMO) in the hand, like Moto took the time to actually do the research with actual customers and see what they liked and didn't like and made change until they got it right. The 4.7" screen, in the same space as the iPhone 5 claims to only be able to fit 4", is great. Battery life is phenomenal (I'm not a heavy user but I never charged it out of the box and the charge that came on it lasted until it hit 4% this morning (Monday) when I got to the office at 6:30am. Build quality is great and believe me I have a mild case of OCD so I checked it out, buttons are nice with a definite tactile click to them (unlike the HTC One's power button that's almost always sunken in), buttons don't rattle (like they do on the S4 and the i5), soft touch material is great, screen is bright and not quite as SAMOLED'y as the S4 (again IMO) but marginally less impressive than the Super LCD3 on the HTC One. Focusing on day-to-day use and user experience, I have to admit I think it was the right way to go for a change.
There's more but I'm sure those of you that have one know what I'm talking about and those that don't, go try one out (at least if you're on AT&T for the moment here in the US), if you don't like it, return it but you might find yourself pleasantly surprised. I've only had it for two days but as right now, barring anything major popping up before the end of the next 10 days, I think this one is a keeper. And if this one develops an issue, I don't think I'd be getting anything else, I'd have this one DOA'ed and get another, it is really that good.
Excellent Job Google and Motorola on this one; very, very impressed.

That's really good to know. I had a N4 for a week and absolutely loved it. I had the ticking sound in the earpiece when on a call and buzzing whenever the screen was on. I couldn't justify the money for such obvious design flaws. It is comforting knowing the X is better in this regards.

What device were you originally coming from? I'm coming from the HTC Vivid (I'm torn between trading it in for cash and shooting it out of a cannon)

Recently I've had the SGS4, HTC One, iPhone 5 and the Optimus G Pro. User experience and build quality, the X wins and like I said in my post, I was not a believer of the X when I first heard about it but after trying it I'm am very pleasantly surprised. My suggestion again would be to try it and if after a week you aren't at least partially sold on it, take it back. There are definitely a lot of good choices out there right now, it's all about what works for you.

I plan on going motomaker, doubt there are refunds on that one.

Just jumped to this device......

From this device........
It's on sale for $324 right now and I've been sitting on an available jump. Nothing else I really want or want to spend a ton of money on ATM. I'd like the z5 premium but can't justify the $800 price tag. I mean, I'll get bored of it like every other phone I get. With jump, I never feel like I lose out much.
This is a pretty decent phone and I have like 4 spare batteries and and couple large capacity memory cards. My wife has the v10 and I was gonna get that, but the more I hold it, the less I like it. Heavy and huge feeling. And the speaker is really low compared to this one.
Guess I'm sticking with this for a while. ?
Any others feel the same?
It's a good phone. Battery life is a bit low, and the screen doesn't get as bright or dim as I'd like. But OMG expandable storage and replaceable batteries. And I'd love a bug free AOSP ROM but considering even Nexus devices only occasionally have that I can't complain too much. Gonna be my daily driver for a while.
I brought one for my girlfriend considering the low price, seems like a no brainer.
I bought this device when it first came out came it was a bit of a nightmare with all the touch screen issues. Hopefully a lot of the issues I had are ironed out, but at this low price I can live with some of the issues I dealt with.

just did the same thing, shaved 100 bucks on the balance owed, get a new phone and an extra charger and cable. None of the new phones do much for me right now.
Price is back up $399...glad I was able to scoop one up.

Yea I noticed the price went up. Still a good deal though.

Can you explain the issue? I just got one and I saw a few times when in chrome it opened some links I'm pretty sure I didn't touch, or barely touched so I'm wondering if it's from that issue.
Issue was typing and such. It would jump and skip and play hopscotch.
It is fixed in newer devices.
Got the new jump device yesterday. Screen seems brighter than the last.
Edited for mis-swipes.

The issue was miss-taps and swipes. When you tapped on the screen it wouldn't register or when you swipe to move to the next homepage or anything that requires swipe it would register it as a tap instead of a swipe. It was extremely frustrating and totally ruined experience for me.
I returned several devices and each one had the same issue, I finally gave up and exchanged it for a Note 5.

Definitely worth it. I had to send it back for touch issues and those were fixed when I got my phone back. Getting ready to test the new MM ROMs & see how those go. First I am testing a debloated minimal ROM, then moving that way if I don't like it.

Moto Z Force. After two weeks.

So after two weeks i think i have a good idea on how this device is. Previous phones this year are. S6 Edge, Droid Turbo 2, Nexus 6p, S7 Edge and as of yesterday Note 7. And this is by far the best.
Smooth. Not Nexus smooth...Smoother. Smooth enough to when iphone users are talking about how there is lag in android i just pop on the John Cena entrance song and hand it to them and tell them that iphones are laggy.
Screen is great. Just remember put a tempered glass screen protector on it before you touch the display. I went with the Verizon one as it covers more then the zag. Few parts did not want to go down but after a few hours it was all good and they all went down with no problem. My turbo 2's display always felt t was pretty deep under the shattersheild and digitizer. The z feels like a typical display. Glad they fixed that on what i will call the second gen of shatter shield.
Fingerprint reader's location sucks. But im getting use to it again. But its fastest. Fastest i have ever used. And i love you just touch it again and it locks the phone.
The active display is a nice welcome. Unlike samsungs fail on it Moto did it right. This time smaller sensors and pretty much no impact on battery life..unlike samsung that sucks atleast 8% of the battery on my note 7. Thats kicking 280mAH of battery in the ass every day. They should of really did it like Moto.
Cameras are ok. Better for moto but a bit of a downgrade for point and click vs my S7E and N7. But you can take just as good pictures if you know what you are doing and know how to use all the manual camera settings. Point and click samsung still holds the crown.
Performance. Beast mode. In benchmarks like Antutu its faster in everything and absolutely crushes my N7 and S7E in the Ram part. Like i said this is the smoothest phone you can buy and i really cant bog it down. I was not expecting it to feel this much faster but its enough to flip around in the phone and say "damn thats snappy"
Charging. 35W.......35W Yeah full power you charging at over 6 amps.
Overall i love this phone. Moto mods are amazing. JBL speaker sounds great. Do not get the crapy tumi pack and go right for the incipo. Makes the phone heavy but its easy to hold. The weight will be the turn off for most. But 5,720mAH son. Set to efficacy mode and enjoy.
My S7E and my N7 are being sold. Z force is just better. I love the way my N7 feels and the display is great. But its same old same old. Its bringing nothing new. Nothing to wow me. Nothing to show off...oh its got a retina scanner. Thats slower then using your thumb and you have to swipe just to use it. And even then an engineer at my work when i let him see it took it came back with it unlocked and said might wanna delete anyone who may steal your phone off facebook and make all your images private. But the phone has class. It just feels classy. Like a Benz. It makes you feel good. But you not going to run around showing off stuff because most of that crap is on someone ford focus.
Moto mods have me thinking. Moto mod style back that takes 2 micro sd cards and dare i say it....RAID 0 them?!?! FLIR moto mod. E ink display, M.2 or Msata housing? I cant wait to see what comes of this. It got me excited about the phone. All around this is an amazing device and by far the best phone i have ever owned. If you are thinking about buying it just go use it at the store. After using it for a few min i bought on on the spot its that smooth..even with all of Verizons bloat.
Note about the verizon bumper case. Get a Razer with it. You need to trim a little for the moto mods to work. Little lip on the back just cut it flat "You will see" and all mods work perfect. But if you get the force do not leave the store without a screen protector. That i'll wait a day and do it wont fly. These screens on the force scratch if a mouse farts.
Downsides
No data cable. Better buy a quality usb a to c if you wanna use a data cable or any other chargers. Lenovo really could of gave us a data cable. or a converter. But the phone is great and im just going to be thankful that they did not cut massive corners to keep the profit up and toss in a data cable.
That was poetry in motion!^^
I agree with your comments. I am shocked how much faster the Z force is than my rooted Turbo was, even when I had RR 6.01 on it. Its a great phone, even just looking at pictures on it they just pop with that screen. Again, the screen is much better than my Turbo was. Love the fingerprint reader, still on the fence if front location is better than the rear like the 6P has.

Yeah its the only phone that im able to use out of the box as is that does not feel laggy or slow. Hell even my 6p felt slow. Only thing i did was install nova launcher so i can hide all the verizon crap until i can delete it for good to clean up my app drawer but the phone is amazing.
Im use to the fingerprint reader on the front now. And use to the weight of the battery mod and holy crap i love the battery life. Heavy use 2 days no problem running 5+ hours of sot a day.
More or less my experience. I am going screen-protectorless, though. I don't want this thing any thicker than it is. I already have a couple tiny scratches, but since you can replace the top layer for $39 I figure I'll just do that in a year.
Yeah.. cheap USB C cables are no good. I tried a $2 chinese one from ebay. Didn't work at all. Here's a cheap old USB - USB-C cable that worked fine for me, to charge from your old chargers:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B432JQ4
Got this C to C one, works great:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017VIHQ6O
I got this car charger after returning another one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ESIWWGE
3A charge on USB C, I can confirm it's pretty fast. Just got back from a trip this weekend. From a full charge I got over five hours in the car with Waze running before I was below 20%... unbelievable. Plugged er in and it took an hour or so to recharge completely. with that car charger.
The one downside is that I can't have it plugged in while the phone is in my car holder because the cable is so chunky, it doesn't bend around my dashboard! Looking for a right-angle one, but haven't found yet. OTOH if I can go almost 6 hours and then just plug it in for an hour, who cares..
My wife got a plain Z, while I purchased the Force. I took the Force mainly for the extra battery, my job requires me to log the miles I drive and that app can be a killer in mountain areas. I was using a 6p before, but got tired of most people I call complaining of the echo, and the phone losing GPS constantly.
Well said. Granted, I think ANY phone I upgraded to from my OG Moto X would have felt amazing, but I really wanted to keep Moto Actions/Display, and I'm VERY pleased with my MZF.

I just upgraded from the OG Moto X as well, and the Actions/Display were a big part of my decision on a new phone. Ever pick up your X nowadays? It seems so tiny when I pick it up now!
As for the screen, I find it just fine as it is. I am sure the tempered glass would make it feel that much better, but it doesn't really bother me.
With the fingerprint reader, I just made sure to add my thumb to it, as it feels natural to just place my thumb on it rather than an index finger.

I'm still using my Moto X as a gym music player, and yep, it seems TINY in comparison now. I held off upgrading for so long because I wanted a smaller phone with top-end specs. Realized that wasn't going to happen (save maybe the HTC10), so just bit the bullet. But man, the moto actions are SO much faster on this beast!

Indeed. And once I heard no Moto X this year...
How was your battery on the X? Mine was draining insanely fast. Part of what sped up my decision to upgrade.

Battery life was(is) dismal. Bought an new OEM battery off Amazon a couple months ago to stave off the upgrade. It ran GREAT for a few weeks, then almost overnight went right back to being crap again. Probably only lasts about 6 hours now.
I just got mine two days ago, won it through Moto Insiders. Why do you suggest getting a screen protector for it? To protect from scratches?

Does Moto/Lenovo offer that replacement service? Could you link me to it?
Yes, to protect from scratches. The replaceable shattershield doesn't seem to be available yet. Are you able to share about Moto insiders or is it a Fight Club kind of thing? It sounds different than soak testers.

It's like a rep website. I work inside a Best Buy, and the Motorola rep signed me up for the site a while ago. They run contests sometimes for free phones, and there are things you do on the site that earn you points that you can cash in for free stuff, ranging from small things like a mug and larger things, like a Moto Hint, or a Moto X Pure

The TUMI is made by Incipio... So it's pretty much the same thing, with a different shell on it.

Maybe someone can help me with this,,,when you use the "okay moto Z" to wake the phone and do something like make a phone call,,,in previous moto phones there was an option to turn on the phone speaker when making calls,,,I cant seem to find that option?
You have to say 'OK Moto z, call someone on speaker phone'. They are using Google commands exclusively for Z so whatever Google supports.
I've had me device 2 days, and all I can say is wow. Major improvement over the V20 I was using. I returned it the day I got this phone. White and gold make it seem more of a premium phone. Super snappy and battery is amazing. Def. A keeper for me.
