[Q] Battery life. Is this normal?

Please tell me if this is normal because i' m going crazy.

But even if i continously surfed the web how on earth my battery went from 100 to 55 in just 1 hour? This is happening for about two weeks now. I had better battery life before. If my battery was degraded i believe on standby it would' t last, but on standby i have very good battery life. When i use the phone my battery drains out like crazy

Yes its not so normal
Install "betterbatterystats" and follow the above link posted by chasmodo
If it doesnt work,it might be a problem with your battery

[Q] Better battery life post 4.1.1 update?

It's only been 2 days since I updated to 4.1.1, but, knock on wood, I think I'm getting much better battery life! Can't give exact numbers yet, but at least the battery page on settings works for me now! :victory:

My Android OS battery percentage seems to be significantly higher than it was on ICS

Google Now eats up battery life. I'll be making a guide on how to maximize battery life seeing as no matter what I'm on (ICS, JB, or JB OTA) I still manage to push 8+ hours of screen on time with the setup I use. Also, disable fastdormancy if you're using a carrier that doesn't support it.

Rooted titanium backup with all bloat frozen including modem stat service and fast dormancy maxx battery. Now just think what a power skin would do with this thing and the maxx battery

Two hours of screen on time contributed to only 10% battery loss???
Did you just left it with screen on without touching it?
Can you post all the things you've frozen? I am on T-Mobile as well.

This is literally everything frozen
And I lose 20% per every 2 hours of screen time
On 4g. It varies day to day, depending on my location.

This is inside the latest Google Play Services app - confirms it, a whole bunch of Google Play games activities in now, no official client app for Google Play Games.

If you're familiar with Game Center on iOS, it's pretty much the Android version of that, as far as I know.

The best part is that it seems that app data syncs through the cloud

More battery draining stuff to turn off, same as Google now.

Possibly dumbest quote of the day, Google Now pulls little to no battery, and this will be the same, don't blame random apps for your personal Android issues

Hi just passing through looking at other forums. You're really wrong, Google now does little to nothing to your battery. Leaving GPS and other such things is what drains the battery. Like what the gentlemen said above us with the high amount of thanks said. You're responsible for what happens to your battery.

Leaving GPS on does nothing to the battery. It only affects battery if an app is using it. Google Now does impact battery life, like it or not. It has a location reporter that's been proven to drain battery, and think about it. It constantly has up to date data, so it has to use battery to be refreshing it so much.

Well a lot of IOS users are convinced judging by the recent headlines. I don't buy googles claims either, unless it uses magic pixie fairy dust for power, there's definate drain on the battery.

I'm dead. Lol Google now is the main reason why my battery dies. Not having GPS on, not playing emulators all day, not having NFC on, not having a long screen time, not using my camera to take picture, not other things. Its Google now. Better leave a obscene comment on the play store.

I think it is because it regularly checks for your location even it is just using WiFi/Mobile Network location it seems to clearly drain my battery. Unless if you disable Location Access to Google services then maybe it won't drain so much that we all complains.

Do you understand the process of constant location updating and pushing and pulling data? That kind of stuff holds a wakelock and wakes the device up from sleep to fetch data. That uses battery. Period. Its not just a simple searching app.

Battery at 30% after 8 hrs

What in the world is draining the battery so quick? So HTC One was unplugged for a little over 8 hrs, the battery is at 30%. Based off this photo it looks like the most battery was used when the phone was idle and using the Wifi.

I believe that sense on 4.3 is the culprit! I removed it and went senseless, and it seemed the Android OS was only using half the resources afterwards. I was getting almost 8-10 more hours on 4.1.2.

Plus I do believe that WiFi searches constantly now! That's another reason for the battery drain.

You probably haven't turned off the WiFi constant search, or haven't turned on sleep mode.

Xperia Z3C Estimated Battery Time

I seem to be getting pretty average battery on my Z3C and the estimated battery life shows it. When I first got it it was showing an estimated 2 day life and now this shows as 5 hours average. My normal usage yesterday lasted me 5 hours of screen time and 15 hours total. Not sure if there's an app eating up my battery or if I have a defective unit.

It might be because you checked it at 99%. Going from 100 - 99% is usually quite fast. Could you post later results? Maybe around 40% or so?
Edit - I should have looked closer. Didn't realize you were charging the phone. Sorry, I got nothing for you then, other than to charge it a couple more times and test it out then. You probably did get yourself a dud battery.

It seems there was an app that was killing my battery. I wiped it and reinstalled the firmware and it seems to be getting much better battery now

What was the app? My usual battery life is around 5 hours SOT with around 17 hours total uptime between charges, which sounds like what you were having.

Google search is what was killing my battery. It was creating a wake lock due to locations so I had to turn it off

Gotcha. I went ahead and turned off the location reporting portion of Google Now, we'll see if I can achieve similar results When you say you reinstalled the firmware, do you mean you did a factory reset?

I could have done that but I actually used Sony's software to wipe and reinstall the software for it.

My mistake - I thought you meant you reinstalled the firmware for your entire phone lol. Basically, all you did was turn off Google Now and then delete and reinstall it? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get my battery life up lol.

No I actually mean using the pc software to download and install the firmware which deleted all data on the device. It seems to be doing better. I got around 3 hours screen time and 12 hours use on half the battery
