last time i tried it wouldn't work, may do nowadays, but i won't be adding it in due to its faults and being very worhtless, plus go is very slow and cumbersome. Go maybe highly customizable but isn't worth it in usage as a system launcher.

I think Go Launcher is really bloated and takes much storage. I use Holo Launcher instead.

Completely agree. I use WP8 now. Its good but certainly has its drawbacks.

My vote is for HOLO only.

I got latest mi home, n the only problem i got is storage size

very minimalistic desktop settings. i couldn't re-size my widgets properly and yeah size is an issue...can lag when under heavy load. only runs as a secondary home, cannot install as a system app on fresh install

Looks like Fede is about to go neck and neck with ADW Ex in the eye-candy department. Installed and now I have BOTH smoothness/performance AND nifty screen transitions.
been a big fan of LPP
I agree. I'm addicted to lpp Widgets. They are a leaner, more well designed version of what sense should have been if HTC placed function over gaudiness.

Loving the cube transition. If you keep high quality imaging it looks very cool. On a side note, running cm7 with LPP I don't notice any performance decrease turning on all animations and what not. Still super smooth and fast.

really? I cant get the LPP Widget for People working, there is no LPP Widget for Weather
and no LPP Widget for Exchange Email ! DOH!
Launcher Pro slow for me
Maybe it's just my Aria, but LP seems much slower than ADW built into ROM.
Any ideas why?
Lpp refers to launcher pro plus. The awesomeness is only available in the paid or otherwise pirated full version. But due to just how great it is, I would pay for it so the dev can continue his hard work.

Definitely worth paying for. It was the first app I bought. Its far ahead of the standard adw. I also purchased adw ex, which is also worth the money. But if you had to choose just one to pay for I would def say Launcherpro plus.

Looks pretty good even in the free version, but just 3 home screens is not enough. If there is one thing to like about the Sense it is the 5 home screens. Is there any way get LP (or most other Android launchers for that matter) to go to 5 home screens?
The paid version allows up to 7 homescreens and 3 docks.
Press menu on homescreen click prefetences
Signatures are fancy.
Does the installation of Launcher Pro Plus remove ADW or can they coexist?
I saw a thread somewhere about using a switcher app to go between multiple launchers but I can't seem to find it.
Thanks

You can have both. Only one is active at a time though. There is an app on the market called home switcher that allows you choose a default launcher and still be able to change launchers on the fly without resetting defaults.

After using LPP, I realized I had no want to even use ADW anymore. I set LPP as my default and removed ADW from my phone with adb commands. I think it has improved the speed of LPP even more. Couldn't be happier.

is there a way to replace the launcher in CM7 before flashing? I decompress the zip and see ADWlauncher.apk...I assume I can rename the ADWlauncher EX apk and just swap it out and it will install ADW EX instead of the normal ADW, but how about LPP? Can I rename it to ADWlauncher.apk and re-compress the zip and it will install LPP as the default and only launcher?
thanks,
Mike
Yeah you can.
I'm not sure if the rename is required though, although I do it myself just to be on the safe side (too lazy to correct the file, transfer to phone again, flash again in case it doesn't work Lol)

thank you. I'm still debating between adw ex and LPP. the main think keeping me from launcher pro is the app drawer. two things I don't like about it are:
the background is black as opposed to the clear background of ADW, and the fact that in ADW I can have a horizontal drawer, and in LP, all you can have are vertical drawers
I think I read another post on this recently and someone tried to replace before flashing and had trouble. My best advice would be to flash CM7 as usual then install the launcher of your choice, set it as default, then use adb commands to uninstall the original launcher. This way works for sure.
Sent from my CM 6.1.1 Liberty using XDA app
When drag and dropping to replace the file in the .zip, just make sure you choose to "Store" instead of "Compress" in the Compression Mode chooser. I've never had problems by replacing files.
I always remove adw and replace it with launcher pro before flashing a rom. I do this with several apps. There is no need to rename anything unless you don't remove adw from your phone beforehand either manually with adb or with a full data wipe. If your just flashing over the top of your existing rom then the reason you want to rename the .apk is so it will replace the currently installed apk, otherwise you'll end up with both installed.
The reason I do this us because I use DT a2sd and I don't want my launcher on the sd card so I put it in /system/app before flashing.

Home launcher options

hey all,
I am running the tiamat hammerhead rom... I like it but right now there are not too many great themes for the xoom. A few color changing ones and the touchwiz port which i did like, but im down for something more. The best way to go about this short of doing my own theme is to get a good home launcher and use some custom animations and icon packs...
Here is the rub.. A lot of the home launchers are too phone-ish.. If that makes sense. Any suggestions? I was partial to ADW ex launcher but i looove the stock launching set-up. I mostly would like to maybe change animations, speeds, etc, but most importantly use icon packs. Any ideas for me or suggestions on good launchers with a stock home screen feel? I dont want my xoom to have a home screen like a giant phone lol
I just stick to stock until someone makes a launcher for honeycomb

Lol i guess that will be the case. No one has any advice...
I would recommend ADW EX, but since it hasn't been updated in 3 months and isn't fully compatible with 3.2...
Yeah adw ex doesn't work well with 3.2 at the moment. I believe the older adw (non ex) works but u gotta find an .apk for that

Not true, imo, ADW EX works great, so smooth with my config and I like having 6 screens. ADW settings is mostly disabled, meaning I can't change the size of icons, basically. But everything else works really well.

Yeah thy made a 3.2 compatible version today... Still not all the way there in my opinion and quirky as anderweb releases tend to be at first until they find all the bugs. Props to them for the effort but i am still not sold. Gonna have to just try the stargate theme coming out soon! Which looks badass!

Launcher Pro crashes with ICS

so I just got the update today and I'm very happy. However, I can't get LP to work on ICS. It closes everytime I try to select it and I get the msg "unfortunately, LP has stopped." Anyone experience this problem?
Its just not compatible with ics and no info on if it ever will be since the dev hasn't updated it in ages.

Go Launcher EX > Launcher Pro... By miles..
Haven't had any issues. In fact, I went back to using LP instead of ADW Ex because the latest ADW Ex update jacked up the dock and the older version has a dumb looking bar at the top of the screen, probably some weird honeycomb code. Even though LP hasn't been updated in 7 months, it's still working fine for me on ICS.
Just downloaded Go Launcher, thanks. I've been stuck on LP for so long bc of the widgets. Haven't customized my Nexus ina loooong time but ever since I got ICS, it feels like I have a new phone to mess around with lol.

If you want something similar to LP's widgets to use with Go Launcher check out APW. Free and Paid version. Or use GoWidgets.. Solid widget set though. - https://market.android.com/details?...51bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5yZHIud2lkZ2V0cy5jb3JlIl0.
I also used Launcher Pro Plus on GB stock rom.
Actually on ICS is stock launcher the best - and instead of LPP widgets you can use "Android Pro Widgets" free on market (looks exactly like from LPP)
Launcher Pro will crash on ICS if you use the calendar widget. It should work fine if you don't use that widget - that worked for me.

I use ADW EX it works great plus its been updated for ICS compatibility.. any launcher>LP lol
On Gingerbread, Launcher Pro is still the best and smoothest launcher. I really hope that Fede has been working on re-writing the whole app and making it compatible for ICS.

To make the top row useable, limit the number of homescreens, custom number of rows and columns on homescreen, resizable icons, fully resizable widgets, etc.
Go launcher is the worst.

Because all of the android stock launchers are freaking butt ugly. Especially the ICS version. It's no wonder why htc uses sense and Samsung touchwiz. Because if they tried to sell phones with stock android launchers they wouldn't sell many phones. Believe it out not, most of the phone buying world feels this way. For the most part, only the hardcore android fan boys like the stock launcher.

Just use Nova launcher -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389071
based on ICS stock launcher + lot of features (Docks, Grid,...etc) and Uber fast.
PS: And works when GPU rendering is on while GO launcher got artefacts/Gfx bugs.

Why fix it if it ain't broke? Compared to the latest versions of ADW Launcher EX and GoLauncher EX, LauncherPro runs way smoother and lag-free on my gf's G2 with GB 2.3.4 and my Nook Color with GB 2.3.7.

I know we cannot demand anything from a dev so I just switched to another launcher

Ics launchers

Nope, that's a framework theming thing, not something that can be changed by a launcher.
Also, get Trebuchet launcher from CM9. It is much better than Nova.

not that i know of you will have to use a custom rom
Since we're talking launchers: I'm running the ICS update, still locked. I just installed Nova Launcher (not prime, just trying it out for now) and was wondering if there's a way to add the HTC clock widget to it? I don't see any of the HTC widgets listed when I'm running Nova launcher.
I'm guessing those can only be added when using the HTC Sense launcher?
Thanks,
-Brett.
Thanks for the help guys, can't wait for a stock ROM to run.

Yes you can only use those with the HTC Sense Launcher.
Honestly I like Nova better Trebuchet. It has twice the features of Trebuchet (on just the free version) and they look exactly the same.
Back on subject though StatusBar+ and Super Status Bar are the only notification bar replacement apps that I know of. I've only used StatusBar+ and its themed to look like WP7.
super status bar works but is still buggy but the dev does say it is a beta tried it for a little this afternoon if the bugs get worked out it will be a good program
You can use the UOT Kitchen to mod ur status bar. Ask Google for the link

I stick to Sense. I don't know what it is, but every time I try and switch off of it, I always end up coming back. Even though they change it with every new flagship, I still stick with it. I've used Aviate, and while it's nice, it's just not for me.
I'm on sense right now, using xposed framework and sense 5 toolbox to get a 4.5 home screen. However, I also frequent nova launcher. It just depends on my mood, and I have them both installed pretty much all the time.
I like Trebuchet from AOSP

I use Themer. Wish it had a better drawer, but, I change up my themes so often its still the best option for me.
I use Nova Launcher Prime on all of my Android devices. Just find it to be fast and customizable to my likings

I like Go Launcher for its customization but I really love Nova Launcher. Love it so much I purchased prime. Its really fast and has a fair amount of customization. It also never crashes or gives me any problems. It's nice that a lot of the icon packs work on it as well.

Big +1 for Action Launcher. It has a free trial(!) now, even, so there really isn't an excuse to at least give it a whack. It's not perfect for everyone, but if it you can handle its paradigm it works really well. Aviate's also good, but the inability to hide apps (among other things) really killed it for me.
Agreed
