Hi all.
I have Samsung galaxy s i9000 (GT-I9000).
I'm currently using pilotX rom. IBut it has a lot of problems.
So I want to try darky's rom.
What is the most stable one?
What kernel should I use?
Is there a step by step guide for installation?
Thanks,
FeL.

This one is good. and stable. Dont try to restore applications if you have a backup. Better install from the beginning..

It doesnt mean that ... you can try to restore, but if you are facing any problem after restoring, like fc, random boot or lag then you have to worry about the restore. Normally for better performance use a fresh install (it is only my experience). If you are flashing the same version then no problem you can restore the application.

Totally disagree as 10.2 RE backs up all previous data on your SD, How ever it is recommended to use titanium back up for your apps

You can restore from a backup just not a nand one from another rom use titanium backup and save all your apps (system data from CM7 etc will cause problems if you try and restore it) then restore once darkyRom has been flashed.
titanium backup has the nice feature of creating an update zip to flash in CWM after install
Hi, I am also in the same situation. I have been using PilotX for around a month now, but I am still not satisfied with my phone's performance. So I am considering installing Darky.
Did you succeed installing it? The main things I am trying to figure out now are:
1. Do I will need to install a special modem to make it work with Pelephone's network in Israel (my original phone used baseband I9000TJJJP3 if that says anything; with PilotX I now have I9000TUBJV6).
2. Since I am now on a different custom ROM, should I go back to my provider's stock ROM before proceeding with install, or does it not matter?
3. Any extra things to install for Hebrew support? (I don't need Hebrew menus, just properly rendering right-to-left in emails and messages).
I should probably start my own thread with questions (or read up some more about it first), but if you've gone through it now maybe you have tips.
Thanks

Hi.
Sorry for the late answer.
1.I got Pelephone also. No need for special modem.
2. Just follow the manual.
3. You will need an rtl fix that you can find easily, and install hebrew layout for your keyboard.
Felix.

What rom I can install on my phone? And after i install a rooted rom I can remove google apps? And afte if I want I can get back stock rom?
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
Well if you have searched the development section - you would have probably known that there ain't much Roms available !
And yes you can remove stock apps after rooting .
Also you can get back to stock by flashing firmware of your region via odin
The devs are still trying to get a working recovery to us. Give it time.
Hi All,
First i am a new comer for this community and new user for an android device .
I bought a new Samsung galaxy S Advance(GT-i9070). It came with Gingerbread. It was actually a phone with 768 RAM-I clearly verified this with the shop when I bought it. Last day I upgraded my phone to Jell bean with official Russian firmware (XXLPZ) and reset to factory default settings.
But now i am getting following issues on my phone.
It seems my devices is very slow and Stucks.Specially contacts,Media player,Messages. Also full RAM Capacity seems 521 MB at Application manager. All applications are now consuming memory from total 521 MB memory.Where is remaining memory? How can I obtain the remaining memory to speed my phone?
Mobile-networks---->Access point does not show any settings to setup APN to mobile network.
Some people on web says to root the phone , install ROM manager will solve these kind of problems. But i have called to shop and verified that rooting will void warranty. If i rooting is the solution ,Is there any possibilities to back it to Unroot when i need my warranty?
I saw there is a custom ROM also available to Jellybean 4.2.Is it possible to restore stock ROM later if i upgrade to Custom ROM?
What is /are ultimate solution/solutions all of my above problems.I hope all friends from this forum will guide me to sort this out
Thanks in advance
relax

1. Root + install custom kernel. It will fly.
2. Never had need to look for access point setting.
3. On JB you will not increase binary counter with rooting, like on GB. You can remove all evidence by flashing JB over again. "SU" file that provide root will be wiped.
4. Yes, you can use custom ROM, and then go back to stock by flashing stock firmware with Odin.

I guess you do not realize that Samsung has launched three versions.
LPY 7th January 2013: A very bad rom.
LPZ 21st January 2013: A bad rom.
LQ4 7th February 2013: Very good version. Stable and perfectly functional for everyday use.
Consider LPY and LPZ as a big mistake. Should never have been released.

Yeah, only thing to check is that you didn't increased binary counter before. GB have method to root that increase it. But you can reset it now, there is Shaaans method in developer section of our phone forum.

It is not location related, you will get updates from country that your phone firmware is. So if you use Russian, the you will get update when it come for that country.

Yeah. Just when you want to go back do not just use your firmwear, first flash things from guide how to downgrade. You have it on general forum I think. And rooting JB do not increase binary, like it was early on GB untill that other method.

Yes, Root + install some custom kernel.
Hi above solutions are worked for me.But it still seems the phone is slow for me comparing with original gingerbread.May be it is because i got bad experience at first release of jellybean russian version. It is difficult to change first impression So i downgraded to original gingerbread.Ginger bread is very stable and running on more than 50% of devices in world.so i decited to use gingerbread for 6 month untill jellybean become stable

Hi, I have a question about the S3 Toolkit. I have a International S3 LTE, GT-I9305. I am on stock ROM, and on Android 4.1.2, build no. JZO54K.I9305XXBMB4, baseband version I9305XXBMA2. I am trying to root my phone through the toolkit, but there is a problem I encountered. There are two versions I see under International LTE that are similar to the above version numbers. The first one is 15. Android 4.1.2 [Build JZO54K BLL3] and the other is 16. Android 4.1.2 [Build JZO54K BLL5]. As you have read, i'm trying to root my phone, but if I select the wrong device version and build, it might brick my phone, so how do I find out which number is it behind BLL? Like BLL3 or BLL5?

Try framaroot to root your phone(frodo exploit), worked great for my s3lte:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37508806
If i understand it rightly the toolkit contains kind of prerooted images which must correspond to your actual rom and will be flashed to your phone. Both versions you mentioned don't match your actual rom. Btw framaroot is an app and nothing gets flashed so imho much saver and no risk of flashing the wrong image.

Ok, actually I did try Framaroot once, but all the exploits didn't work. I'm going to try it again, I'll edit this post once I'm done.
Edit: I tried Framaroot again, and both exploits didn't work. I tried the options for installing SuperSU and Superuser, both also didn't work. (funny that the Settings button doesn't do anything.)

Thanks, but I found this app called Samsung Quick Root, and it says it can be used for all Samsung phones. Can I use this instead?
Edit : BTW, is there a way I can retain the original kernel (the one i'm using now; stock) so I can flash it back after installing the insecure kernel? (I can use any insecure kernel right?)
You could try but rooting doesn't give you a different kernel. It usually involves getting a custom recovery and flashing super user
There are some apps the use the exploit on the soc but I don't use them

OK, thanks for the advice given. For the method you have given me, I can't seem to find the correct one which matches my PDA, CSC and product code for the (modified) stock packages category down the post. So am I supposed to use anyone of the packages given? If something wrong happens, can I just flash back my package that I can get from sammobile.com?

Ok, thanks. Is there any specific reason why Framaroot doesn't work on my phone? All exploits and root methods don't work on my phone. Why?
Edit: Another different question, is there any way I can do a screenshot using the stock method (I believe it's Vol Down+Home?) on the S3? Without the motion (slide palm over screen) screenshot thing option turned on, I tried different combinations of hardware buttons, but none worked. How?

Random bump, but just curious (I didn't want to flood that previous post. ). Will Samsung make a 4.2.1 update for the I9305? Or will they just wait until 5.0 is out, then make a 5.0 update (if Samsung does update the original S3 to 5.0 when its out, they probably should make one for the I9305 right?)?

I assume your phone build is not under the toolkit? I did not root my phone using that method. This is how I rooted my phone:
1. Using Odin, I flashed the CWM recovery.
2. Went into recovery, flashed the root zip I got from one of the threads here.
3. Rooted!

Yep I downloaded the v7.0 toolkit and my phone is not into it. Yet on the latest version of the toolkit which is v7.40 my phone is already listed there. Maybe I could just wait for the developer to upload the latest version.

i tried the method found online but somehow my tab got bricked.... not sure if it's soft bricked or hard bricked. it just stayed on the screen where there is a icon / picture of phone and pc with yellow exclamation sign in between.
initially it just hang on this screen and now it is flashing blinking. i tried several methods found online to unbrick it but all don't seemed to work. at a loss now.....

According to me , android based 4.0 (ics) is one of the stable Rom for p1000. Now I'm running on it. No unknown bugs.
Watch my video regarding it- https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NW3Hsh_6XCA
