New Recovery Mode found - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guy's just found out how to get recovery mode on my phone. Download ROM TOOLBOX PRO, then go rom management, then press reboot recovery button, it will install it for you. You must have Root though. Please let me know if it works on on your phones.

That's great, hope it helps other people too.

yes it works! but how to go backward in the menu of this recovery?

Hold volume up, Home, and power button for a few seconds then reboot system again in the menu. It works just tried it.

Can't ROOT or Boot into Recovery

So I been trying to root my phone for about an hour now. I rooted, un-rooted then rooted again, and it seems to have work (obviously you can't tell when your phone is rooted, but oh well). I'm kind of a noob in the Droid 3 section, but then I went to the Market place and downloaded the "ROM Manager", downloaded the CM9 recovery, and had the app boot into recovery but to my surprise, it doesn't work for some reason. I don't under what else I can do, am I rooted? Do I need to manually install CM9 recovery? I just want ICS on my phone, and this is driving me crazy.

Do you have Super User app on your phone ?
Yup. I do, I have no idea where it came from though.
Sent from my DROID3 using xda premium
Does it open? Look up the thread for boot two roms at once in the genreal section. Follow that and you will have ICS. You should wait tho, as a new build will be up tonight for ics.

Yup, it opens and shows the applications that I allow, does this mean that I'm rooted for sure? I'll definitely wait for the new ICS rom tonight, just want to make sure if I can boot into recovery. I tried using the "X" and power button but it just gives me the triangle with the "!" logo inside.

I believe in the droid 3...you hold the Power + M for recovery. Not the X.
Root checker is an app that will tell you if you are rooted. You need to either install the droid 3 bootstrap or safestrap to get cwm recovery.

Its kind of either or.
You can hold Power + M, and use the volume keys to select recovery, or you can hold Power + X and it will go to recovery as well.

It gave ya the right screen. But that takes you to the stock recovery. To install roms you will need Clockworkmod Recovery or Safestrap Recovery.
Sent from my DROID3 using XDA premium
Go with safestrap. Especially if you're new to this.

Well for me from manager doesn't work.. the recovery it installs does not start from app... never tried other way . Uninstaled RM and installed only hashcode's safestrap so you don't need to start in recovery.: it will give you the option to open the cwm menu from boot by pressing menu button when prompted and if nothing done then start normally..
:in hashcode's blog are: instructions for flashing cm9 with safestrap
Good look

[Q] Power Controls

I am having issues with the power button as are most Captivate users. What I would like to do is have a soft key or app that would allow me to reboot, boot into download or recovery. I did see someone do it at one time with the power button its self but I can no longer remember where. Any help would be appreciated.
I am running a Captivate w/ Salty Bean V31 4.1. W/ Devil Kernal
PowerTool by flappjaxxx in the Play Store.

Wahoo! Thank you. Still having trouble getting into download without ADB. The app will get me into Recovery but not Download. It just goes through the entire reboot.

Probably just need to make and or buy a Jig for download mode. See my signature link below (if u r on a pc or open in a Browser) for info about.

Ya I currently have to use a jig or adb. I was just hoping for a soft key. However it is nice to be able to get to recovery with it. Thank you.

Get 4.2 camera on 4.1?

Hi!
I really want to get the 4.2 camera om to my Xperia Z, especially the Photo Sphere. I've found numerous tutorials, but all of them involves ClockworkMod Recovery. By my understanding, you have to unlock the bootloader in order to install the CWM Recovery, which is not an option for me. I need my warranty to stay. Am I wrong? Do I need to unlock it or not? If not, how do I install Recovery mode? If yes, is there any other way to get the 4.2 camera? I've seen the PhotoSphere Installer APK, but it semms like Google has removed it from Google Play, or am I wrong? If I'm not, is there any other way to download the APK, from like MediaFire?
You can find it here....

You dont need to unlock the bootloader in order to install CWM or TRWP.. Follow the link below to root the device and install the cwm for locked bootloaders from the original development section

Thanks everyone! I've got another problem..
I accidently pressed "apply .zip from sideload", and now I'm stuck on a screen saying:
Sideload started...
Now send the package you want to apply
to the device with "adb sideload <filename>"..
.
How do I exit this/reboot? I've pressed the power button for about 2 min, and nothing happens..
Press volum +and power at same time and wait 3 vibraition... And power up after this....

My Friend's Galaxy Ace volume button

Hi, I have a query.
My friend's volume buttons do not work. Is there any other way to root without recovery or a touch recovery?
Thanks.

Hi iDelta, if your friend's phone is an S5830 (without more letters or S5830D/B/L/T) the way to the recovery is of just two buttons [Home(center bottom) +Power(left side up)] at the same time . So, you won't need the volume button.
Edited: As the volume key is needed for navigate the menus, I recommend PX recovery
If not, you're in the wrong section. Good luck.

Try px recovery. It has soft buttons on screen to navigate in recovery menu but it supports only Rom with ext4 format.

Hi iDelta.
I'm not sure. Perhaps, via adb?
Or using aroma installer?
Cheers.

I went to see the threadx which says it needs to be flashed via recovery. Now, I find no point in flashing a recovery that requires the stock recovery to be flashed and your volume buttons don't work... anyway, I have already given my friend the red flag for rooting. Thanks for your help anyway.

@op : You are optionless now. You can't use volume buttons to flash a custom recovery via the stock one. There's a way to flash cwm via odin but again you won't be able to use it later on because it again needs the damn volume buttons. And on the other hand, no one has devised a way to flash px recovery via odin. You have two options left. Either be on stock or get your phone fixed.
