I genuinely do not know why I do not have a system/media folder maybe because I am on a stock ROM but with custom kernel

Did you try data/local?
Even on all stock roms there is media folder

Copy the folder media on a custom rom and put in it your custom bootanimation.zip. Use a root browser like file explorer (you need to enable root and allow write) and copy the media folder under the system folder and see if it works.

So it you have no media folder then you have no boot animation at all sence stock boot animation is in that folder

I finally downloaded and looked at the files. There are a good number of the files are over 300kb. Adding these to your device will cause them to show up in you media player along with your ringtones/notifications/alarms menu.
Anyone drop box this for me? Link not loading on my phones browser. Thx

Bootanimation for SGAi gt-S5830i (deodexed ROM)

IF you want a bootanimation on you SGAi do this.
(you need to use a computer and a deodexed ROM)
First Backup: backup /system/media with root explorer if something goes wrong.
Also: YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!
You can use any bootanimation from this thread (just change the name): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348731
Then:
1. download bootloaderenabler.zip from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705623
2. make a folder in /system/ called "media".
3. goto http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/ and click on bootanimation
4. choose "select place for bootanimation" to "system/media/ Cyanogen ROM"
5. click mdpi (320x480) and choose which animation you want
6. click "File upload" and upload your framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk (they are in the deodexed ROM in /system/app/ and /system/framework/)
7. next goto "Summary" and "Submit to kitchen"
8. Wait for the file and download it.
9. open your UOT file and go into /system/media/
10. copy the bootanimation.zip and move it to /system/media/ in bootanimationenabler.zip file
11. Copy the bootanimationenabler.zip to your phone's SDcard
12. boot into recovery(stock) and flash the bootanimationenabler.zip
13. reboot phone
14. enjoy
if you want
15. press thanks
Some phones need custom kernel. Use Rafael's
If the flashing failed use CWM instead of stock recovery.

Are you using deodex?
And you choose mdpi?
Did you place it at the right place? (you will need to make a /system/media folder.)

yes, deodexed by rajrock, I did the media folder in bootanimationenabler.zip >system>. and the bootanimation.zip is placed in the media folder I created, yes mdpI is chosen and double checked, and even made some changes on cooking, but still not working. just gave me non booting animation.

You can put it in manually through root explorer.
Edit: added a page that has many boot animations

no, i didn't backup  , i do have root explorer, and i can see the bootanimation.zip from UOT inside system>media folder, may i know if that means i can just download any bootanimation.zip that is working on our device and place it into system>media? will that works?

How do u make a flashable zip to install mods to systemui and framework, etc. I have modified both and want to install without having to push via adb. Just putting in a zip file does not work.
Thanks

It's all about what updater-script is telling it to do. In edify scripting, there's all sorts of things you can do from the script. Changing this script changes what happens when the zip flashes. You can mount, format, install, set permissions, symlink, reboot - all sorts of fun stuff. I suggest finding a few different flashable zips, reading their updater-scripts, and familiarizing yourself with what exactly they're doing. Don't start with a ROM's updater-script though, as they can be pretty in depth.

I understand that and I have somewhat familiarized myself with that script. What confuses me is the cert.rsa, cert.sf and manifest.mf that are in the meta-inf folder and the update-binary. Can anyone give input on those? Which are needed and how to edit.

I just posted a flashable zip in the Google Ears thread in the Dev section. You can use the entire meta-inf folder in there. All you need to do is edit the script to make it do what you want. That one will extract everything from the /system directory in the .zip to /system on the phone. So it's pretty generic. You can add a /framework folder to flash framework-res.apk, etc.

Great to see more guys are making animations and MODs.
If I may suggest something.
Make it smoother, use more png's to do that.
You have tutorials (check in mine signature) and you'll find there YouTube link for nice programs for bootanimation creator.
You can easily transform any video to bootanimation and have great, smooth animation.

And yeah...
For installing...
Rename that zip to bootanimation.zip and copy it to system folder.
Change permissions to 0644 (using root browser) and move it to system (system/media) say "yes" to overwrite.
Restart device and enjoy

Word, that sounds good, it would make the animation process much easier,
to make this I actually created each individual shot using photoshop so it took me some time

Alright, start by downloading ROOTBROWSER app [play store], and allow it superuser permissions
next you go into system>media here you will find bootanimation.zip this is the stock bootanimation, copy and paste into a safe place perhaps your external sd, somewhere you can remember.
next you copy the zip that i provided... take it into the same place... system>media DELETE you stock bootanimation.zip and paste fintest.zip
you can paste it as fintest, then delete stock, then rename as well.
next rename fintest.zip to bootanimation.zip and then change permissions (long press and permissions in the menu) change to RW-R--R--
you should be set. be sure to post whether you are successful in your endeavors or not
