Hi Peeps,
Its been a while since i've been in the PDA scene... the TyTN II tempted me back.
Took delivery of my SanDisk SDHC 4Gb card this morning, plugged in and working a-okay.
Now, I'm wanting to install all my apps now. The installer greys out the option to choose your own install location?! Wanting to keep system memory to the max you see...
Anyone know how i get around this?
Cheers,
Matt
Do you install using ActiveSync ? Which version?
I sure do... well i'm running vista so is the "Windows Mobile Device Center" now - version 6.1.6965
i am having similar problem but my sd install is not greyed out but there is a problem with programs that have to write to the SD card.
I installed 2 programs that I have installed on a WM 6 ROM on my 8525 - these programs have to sync data and the data is written to a folder where the program is installed. If I install the program on the main memory of the TyTN II then it works just fine but if install it to the SD card it will not work - it locks up when trying to write data on the SD card of the TyTN II.
Any ideas on how to change security or access to the SD card so the device has full access to it????
It looks serious problem
However, it could be that the application is not yet compatible with the Tytn II ?
I think it is worth to ask to the developer of the application, he might have a clue or could create somekind of debug tool to verify.
I have not installed anything to the SD though.

Try this, will you?
I've found this app on another forum, but couldn't try it yet since i still am waiting for the arrival of my sdhc card.
Also, try these too.

I'll try the drivers and let you know but the problem is that I this issue with 2 different programs both of which worked fine on my Hermes with WM6 Roms!
I tried the different SD drivers and the TyTNN II was not able to access the SD card at all until I uninstalled the driver.
Interestingly the problem is only when the applications try to write to the card while doing a "sync" process where the app writes updated data to the SD card. The program otherewise works fine and installs fine.
Btw , it is only a 2GB card. I tried reformatting it and using a different card but no luck.
I think the issue is some sort os a security thing where the OS is errantly preventing writing to the SD card within the application.
Any other suggestions? I'm going to notify the place where I bought the Kaiser but also going to try to contact HTC.
I contacted HTC and they said that the device hadn't "really been released" yet and that with third party software they would not be of any help !!!!!!!!!
Can't believe they were so unhelpful. I even explained that others were having some other issues with SD cards and that it was more than one progeam giving me problems.
His answer was to - "just install your programs in the main memory"
Hope i don't experience such a thing with my universal since i just ordered a 4gb sdhc 2 days ago!

Well, that won't work at all, since the Universal doesn't support SDHC!!!!
* unless you are using the new WM6 rom with SDHC support!

THAT SOUNDS Annoying
there are some programs that just dont work being installed on the external storage. spb mobile shell is one of them and i know their are others. its because of the way the os boots is has to be on the internal storage for it to work properly. its not a fault, its ben the same with wm5 some apps are just meant to be instaslled on the internal storage. so check on hte applications home page or where you downloaded it from for its compatability and installation instructions

Absolutely - however, in my case the program (according to the developers who are working diligently with me to solve this issue) say the program I have been sucessfully using 2003, WM5 and then WM6 installed on the SD card (for several years) will NOT work on the Kaiser.
There is undoubtedly something different about the device and how it handles communication with the SD card. I have tried differnt cards (size, brand etc) and still the Kaiser won;t allow the program to write to the card during certain phases of a "sync" process.
Hopefully this is not a major issue for others but for my sake I hope it is enough of an issue to get some attention form someone smarter than me so I can (selfishly) get a fix for my issue
I bought a new 2GB SanDisk Ultra II card from my XPA v1510 branded phone (purchased from swisscom)
I tried to copy over the program files and their data (ie: SBB time table and TomTom) to the new card and use it instead of the default 1GB card.
this did not work. is there something that I am missing or need to do?
Also music files are not found by the windows media player.
I can browse the card on the device and see all of the files but cannot open anything.
Can't help mate, but this:
"I can browse the card on the device and see all of the files but cannot open anything."
sounds strange to me...
is there a utility on the phone to format new cards?
Should cards be formated in a special way before being used?
fixed it.
I found that the normal mini and NOT the ultra simply works.
Anyone know what type of filesystem mount the original micro-sd of htc hd7?
i have upgraded my hd7 whit a class 6 32gb micro-sd and all well, but when i try to read the older memory my system dont releave it (on win7 and ubuntu)
i'm curious to see what are in original memory but i dont know if it's a problem of filesystem or a memory fault (maybe...)
The only way you are able to read and delete the micro sd is that you have to put it in a Symbian os phone!! Like nokia n95
hello friend. I want to put 32gb in my hd7 also but I am afraid it will destroy the card. can u explain please how u managed to be able to use 32gb in ur phone? this is very important because I read in many places on the web that we should wait for manufactures to release windows 7 signed memory card and that other card that are not signed are automatically fried.
Hi,
i've an HTC HD7 runing windows mobile 7.5. I've manage to view and save my files on the memory card by tweaking the usb driver but i can't browse them on the phone! Can someone please tell me how to view files uploaded on the memory card?
thanks
Z
Windows Mobile 7.5? You must mean Windows Phone 7.5, since the former does not exist. Haha.
You'll need to side-load a file explorer application. Your device needs to be developer unlocked in order to do this.
Otherwise, the phone itself will not recognize any of the files that you put on the card, as it was not designed to do this.
I have a lumia 525. I downloaded fifa 14 from windowsphone.com on last Monday. I put the file in my sd card. But now i trying to install it from my sd card. But i can't find it in Store>Sd Card. What to do???
Is there any way to install old xap from sd card????
Does the 525 meet the minimum requirements for that app? Also, do your phone have Internet access at all? It still need to be able to do the license check even when installing from SD card.
