These are instructions I got after searching through Google.
You can extract the ROM.zip from any RUU to install via ZIP
1. Start the RUU and once at the first main screen click Start>Run and type
%temp%
2. To find the ROM search for 'ROM' and in there will be a ZIP file called Rom - copy this to your desktop and rename it PD98IMG.
3. Now copy this to your SD card, not in any folders.
4. Start the phone in HBOOT (turn it on whilst holding volume down). It will find the file and start the update. Just follow the instructions...
It will wipe your phone, though

i have another htc device and try this method many time ... everything is ok.
i buy new device (htc sensation xl) ... rooted ... and try this method ... but do nothing.
i try fastboot flash zip rom .... after few second have error.
i try from recovery ... installation aborted.
i try install many custom rom from here on my xl ... everything is ok.
but i can not install ruu on my xl

Hi I tried cooking it since I have been home so you could flash it but I am not massively experienced and couldn't get it past the boot screen.
If you can flash custom ROMs why not try COREDROIDS ROM here
I will continue playing with this out of curiosity anyway.

there is already a live link for OTA.. i downloaded it yesterday..
but as i am new member i cannot put external links in post...
we need RUU.. as we cannot flash OTA... also it does not have rom.zip in it..

Ota is a patch.
Ruu is the whole rom.

Lol, a registered an account over here to download the file maybe faster, but even the captcha is in Chinese now.
If you have downloaded/flashed this one: RUU_VIVO_SENSE30_S_HTCCN_CHS_3.09.1400.7_Radio_20. 4802.30.0822U_3822.10.08.28_M_release_237362_signed.exe, you can Install the OTA and make PG32IMG yourself.

I have finished the download from dbank.com, but it appears the zip is corrupted or my transfer was bad.

Mine kept finishing early, probably the same happened to you
